My previous review was 100% accurate. Management's "out reach" was only to make excuses for poor service. If restaurant was busy, it was not in the downstairs area where we sat which was practically empty. If a restaurant is hosting a private party, they need to plan ahead. if a restaurant can't adequately staff for both a private party and its regular customers, then they should close restaurant off to those not attending the private party. First off I absolutely love the concept of this place and it's just great for a fun date, hanging out with friends or if you just feel like trying different foods in one night. We've been here twice so far and had a good time each time however I'm simply unimpressed by the food as well as the cleanliness, which are extremely important to me. The table was pretty sticky, I had stuff on my napkin, a hair in my food and a sticky wineglass. My husband found the bathrooms quite filthy the first time we were here. That all adds up in a night and puts you off a bit. We are both food lovers but were simply not impressed with any of the items we tried. We had quite a few (including desert) but I found most of them pretty bland, overspiced, or an odd consistency. And none of them justified the price either. I didn't feel like the small plates concept let us indulge in some amazing flavors and different delicious foods. We were 2 out-of-town tourists--and arrived for our visit, at prime time on a Saturday night. Ordered 5 "small plates" and 3 drinks, for a pre-tip bill of $90. For us, sticker shock...but we were wowed by the food (even lowly French fries, that came seasoned with plenty of rosemary). The cocktails--which our waiter avowed "we are known for"--impressed us, though, much less. (My Cranberry Negroni was a diluted, wan version of the real thing.) So we moved on to a shared glass of wine. We enjoyed each dish so much that we would've stayed longer, for more (...dessert?)--but the noise level was getting excruciating. Finally made it to level this past week for the first time. No complaints with the food - definitely a cut above the rest. I also liked the fact that they get their food from local sources. My wife and I shared a couple different dishes including the smoked scallops & bacon flatbread, that night's lamb tenderloin special, some hand cut fries (someone there has sharp hands, let me tell ya), and some type of pork spring rolls. Oh, my wife went berserk for the cucumber margarita - very refreshing! I thought the beer selection was wimpy compared with all the wine and food choices, but hey, that's just me. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable on the menu, but it did seem like he had to make an effort to be friendly with us. I come across that a lot in Annapolis -especially if the place is newer or trendy. The biggest disappointment for me and my wife was just how frickin' LOUD it was in there. 4.5 stars. What a friggen gem this place is. Level was perfectly located just one block from our hotel. Trusty ol' Yelp sold me with its overwhelmingly positive reviews (minus the one weirdo who didn't enjoy the fact that all his plates came out at once...um, that's how small plates work, silly!). The selling point for me was the fact that they focus on local faire. The food is from farms located in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. The first thing that hit me was the ambiance. Level is very popular judging from the amount of patrons, but it had an intimate feel despite the busy pace. Dark lighting, big bar with a mix of modern and traditional decor. Lovely. But more importantly, the food. Wow. To drink, we opted to try their cocktail special which was a pina colada. A mix of rum and fruit juice with what I believe was a pineapple foam creating the top of the drink. It was quite tasty. To eat, we had the pork spring rolls, tuna tartar, bison satay, and smoked bacon flatbread. Everything had amazing flavor, and 4 plates between 2 people was the perfect amount. The flatbreads are a lot larger than I expected, so we did end up taking a couple of pieces to go. Everything we ate was terrific, but my favorites by far were the pork and tuna. The pork was braised in house and had amazing flavor. The accompanying sauce was a sweet and spicy habanero which complimented the pork perfectly. It was a flavor party in my mouth! The tuna was sushi-grade perfection. Ice cold tuna chunks with siracha, soy, and sesame seeds. The cold balanced out the heat of the sauce and made for a super flavorful plate. The bison satay was super lean and tender, not gamey in the least. The flatbread was delicious as well, but I would probably get something more unique next time since it wasn't as surprising as the other dishes. Oh and don't forget dessert! Chocolate banana bread pudding with white caramel, rum sauce, and caramelized banana. Like homemade banana bread but creamier, warmer, chocolatier (it's a term of art). We were on the fence about dessert to begin with, but in hindsight were glad we opted for something. That thing was devoured. It takes a while to prepare, so keep that in mind when ordering dessert, but it was worth every minute of waiting. The best surprise was the price. Our bill came out to $80, which, for the amount of food and drink we ordered, was a lot cheaper than I expected. Forty dollars each to eat amazing food in a snazzy joint? No brainer. Level would have received 5 stars but for the spotty service. When he was there, our server was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. However, it was obvious he can't multitask well since we had to continually flag him down to take our orders. I have to say I NEVER EVER EVER complain about restaurants, I didn't have a yelp account before this and I am the first to allow mistakes and make excuses for bad food/ service, etc... but Level has to have the WORST customer service I have encountered at a restaurant. We had dinner at the restaurant tonight for my sister in law's birthday. My mother in law made a reservation for 8 people, confirmed with a credit card, when we showed up they said we didn't have a reservation, although upon review of their reservation book we located the reservation and the credit card number. The hostess proceeded to tell us that because we were called to confirm the number of guests and we didn't call back our reservation was canceled. What restaurant would think of doing that??? My mother in law was unavailable all day and did not notice the message until this evening. But who would think their reservation would be cancelled because you didn't answer a phone call after you confirmed the number with a credit card number? The hostess seated us in a tight couch, stool and coffee table combo, which was fine, not great, but fine. But about an hour into our dinner the waitress asked to remove one of the stools to accommodate another 10 person party. As I mentioned, we were already squeezed on to the couch and table combo and we had not even had dessert yet. The waitress mentioned the hostess told her we didn't have a reservation and that we were expected to leave at 10pm. After the earlier discussion concerning our reservation this was surprising that the hostess was unaware that we did in fact have a reservation that was cancelled without our knowledge. I spoke to the waitress and told her that we were disappointed in the service and at that point we would likely not be coming back to the restaurant due to the poor experience we had. She asked the manager, John, to come speak to us. Any self respecting owner/ manager may want to salvage our loyalty to the ensure our return, but not John. He argued with my mother in law for over fifteen minutes and never even apologized for our inconvenience, he made excuse after excuse for the situation. We had dessert and hoped perhaps he would comp a 6.00 dessert, but no-- over 300+ dollars later...we walked out of Level and I doubt we will ever go back. Level may be a good date restaurant for two people, but if you have a large party I would think twice about considering this restaurant. The food was good and the waitress tried hard to help us, but there is very little that will convince me to return to Level after the experience with the hostess and the manager. As a customer who did everything we could to have a table ready for us, including forgiving the mistake the restaurant made not preparing for our reservation, I am insulted by the service we received. Also for the party of ten that the hostess tried to steal our stool for-- they left before even being seated because they too were unhappy with their service. Level needs to reevaluate their customer service because a restaurant can only survive on their food for so long, without great customer service no one will want to return and I can name ten people who will not return after tonight. read more

Good reviews got my wife and me to Level for dinner. But this review isn't good. I'd like to give 1.5 stars, they don't really deserve two. And one would be too harsh because I think they're trying. First, the bar-staff know their stuff and are fully engaged in drink-making. The wine is steep - $12 a glass for a decent Cab. All beer is bottled, a let down for me, but at $7 per not the end of the world. That would be the food. We ordered five plates for a tab that came to about $100.00 w/drinks. Only one of the small plates (and they take that seriously, the servings are extremely small) was good. Here's what I remember: Sauteed Scallops - very good. Good thing we ate that first. Roasted Carrots - overcooked with a bitter sauce Asparagus - I can't remember what the one or two stalks tasted like. Overcooked but edible. Pork Spring Rolls - chunks of pork inside batter. That's it. No spring onion, no seasoning to speak of. But not overcooked. Three Dips. The dips were supposed to be different, but they were slight variations of stuff-in-mayo. With pita chips. Bread would've improved this. Steak Something. Really bad. Overcooked steak with some kind of bad sauce. Apparently you can ruin steak. The waiter was new - acted rushed though there wasn't a crowd, didn't deliver plates or clear them in a timely way, left empties on the table, wasn't knowledgeable. Diners shouldn't be subjected to waiters in mid training. Overcooked was one theme. Tiny servings was the other. For comparison, my wife and I've been to a number of tapas restaurants, and have some experience with small plates. Jaleo in Bethesda - as we've learned - is a tough measure to beat. There each plate is very good and carefully made. The servings are generous - not entre size but substantial. Level should visit Jaleo and take notes. read more

Just returned to Annapolis after 12 years in New York City. Although I had not been to Level for years, I suggested Level to a friend of mine because I have been hearing very good things about it and every time I walk by the place is packed -- a very good sign. My husband tried it a few times and really liked it. We sat at the bar and I was immediately impressed by the attention of the bartenders. They took the time to explain the array of cocktails, particularly my favorite -- the Manhattan. They were knowledgeable about all the ingredients, including the variety of bitters. I ordered the Manhattan, which rivals the best bars and restaurants in New York and Santa Fe (my two gauges for the best cocktails). It was excellent! My friend drank Pinot Grigio and was not disappointed. My friend and I gabbed so long that we neglected to order, but the bartender stopped by to remind us that Happy Hour was soon ending if we wanted to take advantage of the Happy Hour offerings, which we did. We ordered the hummus with pomegranate seeds and flatbread, and the bowl of warm olives and almonds. Perfect for our mini-food requirements. Both offerings were superb! We will both go back for more. I want to try the Happy Hour pizza because our bar neighbors were eating it and said it was delicious! One of the owners stopped by to ask how we liked our drinks and mini-meal. We had a lovely conversation with him about Level's history and philosophy. As I told him, there are numerous factors that go into making a great restaurant -- food and drinks are the first elements, but you can't dismiss the value in a great relationship with the bartenders and wait staff. This is a great small plates restaurant. Lovely atmosphere, fantastic service and the cocktails are original and refreshing. Prices are very reasonable. For me, the starters and dessert were the best part of the meal. The taste of the Mediterranean starter as well as the charcuterie meat and cheese board were delicious. The hummus did not have enough pita and they gladly brought out more to finish the dish. The Brussels sprouts however were not for me. I LOVE Brussels sprouts, bacon and fried food, but for me this dish did not work. I believe it's the type of oil that they use to fry the food, it wasn't my taste. The same oil was likely used for the hot chicken, also not my taste. The meat was cut into a round disc and seemed to contain both white and dark meat, again just not my flavor. The ahi was very fresh and as advertised, spicy! Bread pudding is by far in of my favorite desserts and the banana bread pudding did not disappoint! I was only sad I could not finish it because I was so full! Everything was beautifully presented and outstanding service. I could not give 5 stars because I did not enjoy half of the meal, but I would certainly return and try other items that are not fried. read more

We just held my son and future daughter-in-law's rehearsal dinner at Level and every detail about the special event for 30 people was perfect. The food was amazing, especially the Chateaubriand, the scallops, tuna tartar and the mac & cheese....I could go on and on! Eric, the owner, and his entire staff, especially Jake, were so accommodating to our every last minute event changes and requests. I was just here for a work dinner on Wednesday and boy, am I glad we made the drive down to Annapolis for this place! In fact, it was so good that I am dragging my boyfriend back down here next weekend! I'm sure you're all curious about what has me singing this places praises, so here the breakdown: --Korean Duck Tacos --Blue Crab and Corn Risotto --Tuna Tartar --Sea Bass Civeche --Hand Cut French Fries --Bacon and Scallop Flatbread Even though this places advertises small plates, their portions are by no means measly! 2 orders of each above fed a party of 6! Everything tasted wonderful! The only criticism we had about the food was on the risotto. You couldn't really taste the crab in it. It was delicious, just no crab flavor. It was lost in the creamy goodness that is risotto. Level also happens to employ several masterful bartenders who mix superb cocktails! The presentations were as lovely as the drinks themselves! Although, there seemed to be a consensus that the Cucumber Margarita is a must try! The came dessert in the form of milk and cookies and chocolate banana bread pudding! Yum! The mac n cheese was good and my husband enjoyed his steak, but I got the asparagus and really thought the vinaigrette and mustard went poorly together. Also the waiters and bartenders were very awkward, we got our food about ten minutes apart and when we asked about it he said he thought we didn't want all the food at one time. Just weird. My husband and I were in town for a wedding and starving-hungry for an early dinner on a Thursday night. Walking up and down the main thoroughfare of Annapolis, not a single restaurant seemed to have a vegetarian, let alone vegan option for us. We were getting cranky. My husband suggested Level. Small plates? But isn't that going to be crazy overpriced? The menu is the closest to something we could eat, as aspiring vegans, my husband reasoned. We decided to go in and check it out. We ordered a couple of drinks to start. I ordered a cocktail which was a bit more gingery and less sweet than I expected, but it wasn't bad and it got the job done. I was slightly inebriated by the time our first course arrived. We split a small plate of handmade gnocchi with a chili sauce and cucumber sauce. The gnocchi were delicate and the sauce was just about the tastiest, most suprising pasta sauce I've ever had. The menu changes seasonally, so the second appetizer was a hummus with chunks of peaches. It was amazing. Sweeter than a regular hummus and the flat bread served with it was toasted perfectly and fresh from the oven. The japanese eggplant appetizer was astoundingly tasty, and we went off-vegan because the feta sprinkled on top was the best feta I've had in my life. My review is maybe beginning to sound a little overboard. But I'm not kidding. Everything we had was amazing and I'm so glad we chose to go here. We also split the vegetable flatbread with zucchini, eggplant and mozzarella and parmesan. Again, not vegan, but so good. Finally, although we were busting at the seams from our three small plates and flatbread, we decided to splurge on dessert. We were having one of the best meals of our lives, and I didn't want the eating to end. We ordered the bread pudding and the bourbon apricot ice cream. The bread pudding came with caramelized bananas on top and was very nice. The bourbon ice cream was out of this world good. I literally licked the bowl. If you are in Annapolis, you love food, and you don't mind spending a little extra for something special, run, don't walk, to Level. read more

This is a perfect example of a place that is considered "good" by default. I've been here a few times and every time I go back the experience is worse and worse. The menu typically leaves something to be desired. We went in last night, the highlight of the meal were the cocktails, one of the better things they do here, but they could be so much better. Their "new-old fashioned" is ok, well balanced and flavorful, but I feel like it loses its identity by having way too much orange and not a strong enough alcohol flavor, which in my opinion is what you're looking for when you order any type of old fashioned. The gimlet is pretty good, their use of lime foam with this drink is one of the highlights of their entire drink menu. I had not been back in a while and was just not really interested in anything other libations offered. This is also one of the only places in the area that carries blue coat gin, which is my favorite. Now onto the food, we started with the cheesy flatbread, the pork tacos, and the spicy tuna tartare. I guess since the last time we came they changed how they executed their flatbreads. They're crispier now but I feel that they were way better before. Was overall disappointed with the dish and we ended up only eating half. I just didn't feel like the flavors were there on this and apparently the two people I was with felt the same because none of us wanted to go in for a 2nd piece. Was surprised to see that the longtime favorite cuban pork spring rolls were off the menu and I suppose they were replaced by the pork tacos. The white BBQ sauce was the best part about these. The presentation lacked imagination and did nothing for the dish. I found the pork to be under seasoned and I felt like the other components were under utilized in such a way that they couldn't save the dish. There was very little of the white BBQ sauce on it, same with the cabbage so the dish ultimately ended up lacking both flavor and texture. Finally the tuna tartare - I was never a big fan of spicy tuna, I only tried two bites of the this and I surprisingly liked it - why you ask? because it was completely devoid of spice. As a tuna tartare dish, the flavor was well balanced, the tuna was fresh, so hey you get a C for executing a tuna tartare. Congrats. We decided to cut our culinary adventure short at that point because we just weren't interested in going any further down that road. So we enjoyed another round of drinks. We were soon joined by a guest as a roach crawled across our table. Management was nice enough to have the waiter comp a round of drinks for this intrusion, which was mighty gracious of him or her (because we never got the pleasure of a personal apology) but it makes you wonder if this is a recurring theme because I would expect more of a reaction if they weren't used to roaches crawling across tables. Overall I won't be going back to level, there are enough reliable options in the area that can deliver solid food and/or drinks. read more

Ugh where do I begin?! Absolutely incredible! Our server, Dimitri, provided us with the most exquisite dining experience as he guided us through their fantastic selection of small plates. As you're reading this, you may feel I am being a tad dramatic; however, you just need to experience this place for yourself to understand. I'd highly recommend a glass of their Pinot noir, or bottle (let's be honest) and indulge yourself in their tuna tartar or fried duck and conclude you're meal with the banana bread pudding. I am beginning to get used to the unfortunately high pricing of things that comes with living in NYC. The most simple of things can sometimes make me feel like a little child that just got a balloon, like when I see a drink I normally have to pay $13-20 for on a menu elsewhere. For $5. Five friggin dollars. Jesus. You can't even get half a pack of cigarettes here for that! Hobos begging for change would scoff at you here for offering them an Honest Abe, then kick you in the senstive parts, and stumble back to their million dollar hobo penthouses. Yes folks, my hyperbole has gotten off to a bad start. I stopped in here with my long time friend during our Day Of Drinking 2011, brought on by my brief and random visit to Annapolis. We were brought in at the behest of a couple of her friends that we ran into at another bar just up the street. They told us, "You have to come here, they have the best drinks you've ever had. In.Your.Life." This is going to sound snooty, but please understand it's not: I drink at Angel's Share rather frequently. Same goes for Dutch Kills. I do the rounds at Pegu Club, Please Don't Tell and Death&Co. In the back of my head, I was thinking to myself, "These drinks will probably be mixed by a monkey, and taste like the underside of Lindsay Lohan after a night of partying with a bunch of German rock stars." Being that we had to kill some time before stopping in to eat at Joss Cafe, we obliged and slipped our way down hill to this spot, where we sidled up to the bar next to said friends of hers. "Wow", I thought to myself, taking in the bar, with the very well put together mash-up of whiskeys, gins and other spirits. "Oh look", I thought, "They have housemade bitters in flavors like Lavender". Feeling much more comfortable already, I looked at the menu. And saw the prices. "Oh, ok, well I guess the drinks won't be all that good as they're only $5, which would get me 2/3 of a bottle of beer in the type of dive bar in the Village where your cover charge is getting stabbed in the neck, and your only memory in the morning is whether or not the girl you took home really did have man-parts," I thought.** I see that her one friend is drinking a beverage at the moment, so I ask him what it is and if I can have a sip to try it. It turns out this beverage is a "tru outlaw", which is comprised of tru organic gin, citry orange, barkeep lavender bitters, fresh lemon sour and a lavender sprig. My sip confirms that this is a serious drink. The kind of drink that people pay considerable amounts of money for in some places. The kind of places that are occasionally douche-y just because, or have bizarre reservation policies and hire hostesses that could moonlight as Cruella Deville. So why, oh why, did I not know about this place before? With its very cool and laid back, though highly skilled bartender? With it's list of organic and locally sourced ingredients? With it's friendly staff and alarmingly clean bathroom? I feel like I've been cheated in life. Being that we were about to go eat enough sushi to endanger at least one species of large Pacific dwelling fish by ourselves, we did what any sensible person would do and ordered food. We didn't mean to, I don't think, it's just that during their happy hour it appears that pretty much anything you want to eat or drink costs $5. Note: The food is good. We got the Cuban pork spring rolls, which had a mildly addictive apple-cider-vinegar and habanero pepper sauce with them, calamari (a couple pieces were charred just a bit too much) and the clear winner: Hand cut russet potatoe fries with roasted Rosemary and chopped garlic. The entire restaurant smells of these things when they come out of the kitchen, and this is not a bad thing. How the entire staff is not morbidly obese from eating these is already gnawing at the part of my mind that ponders these useless things. I followed up with a Cucumber Collins (a take on the Tom Collins, but involving some diced and muddled cucumber and hendrick's gin, with a cucumber foam on top), which was extremely refreshing, as well as the Tru Outlaw. She had the "Pear"-fect Tipple, which was a bit too "Pear"-ish for us, though the bartender admitted it was probably his least favorite drink on the menu. She wound up with something else which I cannot remember because at this point I was drunk again. Damn liver, and your "I could process this better if you didn't give it to me in levels that would be well suited to a bachelor party with Robert Downey, Jr" attitude! Check came, we said our goodbyes, and sauntered off to go and consume sushi. Her with a nice buzz, and me with a nagging feeling that I would never be able to appreciate a $15 cocktail the same way again, and I think that changing someone's opinion on something is really the highest compliment I could ever give to a restaurant. ** Yes, she really did. It was almost 10pm and the bar was hopping, we didn't stay on the downstairs level (no pun intended) but it appeared as crowded as upstairs. Our friend had grabbed us a table earlier, which was lucky since both bars were full. The atmosphere is very appealing upstairs; dark and dimly lit but enough to know what you're doing of course. Tables on the right and the bar on the wall with plenty of walking/standing around area in front it it. A TV behind the bar was playing the hockey game. The whole place had clearly been renovated since I'd been there under a different name years ago. The decor is great. Our waitress was alright, efficient but not overly friendly or smiley. I wasn't impressed by her. I placed a few limes on the table at one point and she didn't seem happy I removed them from my drink and picked them up. Listen lady, I paid for the drink, I will do what I want with it! Anyway, she filled our water glasses (I guess you only get one since she took the pitcher after?) and took our orders. Level has a whole little menu section dedicated to their specialty cocktails. There are about 15 of them. If I could remember the names I'd list a few...but I can't. If I could remember or pronounce some of the ingredients, I'd list those also... but I can't. Nonetheless, we ordered a few that sounded tasty and hoped for the best while being looking forward to trying something new. My strawberry & lime drink had way too many limes in it. I get very excited by strawberry anything and this just didn't have enough strawberry flavor in it for me. *shrug. Here's where I removed the limes and got in trouble for it. My boyfriend got a yummy tequila drink that had brown sugar in it. Different! Let me tell you though, these cocktails are all $9+, so bring a full wallet if you want more than one. Butttt, you are getting something pretty unique and handmade by what seems like really professional bartenders. My friend got a small plate of cheese which came with honey dipping sauce. They were not kidding about the "small plates". We all looked at it like, "wtf" when it was placed on the table. It was a tiny piece of cheese, just enough for one person I guess. We asked our friend if we could try it and managed to cut off a small bite. Yuck. I did not like the cheese at all, and the honey sauce was just weird and not appealing. Maybe others are better... My boyfriend ordered the Japanese Eggplant which was really good! I had a small sample and wanted more! It being another small plate, we didn't get to share much :( I want to learn how to make it at home! Level does state it's a "small plate lounge" so don't go here on an empty stomach. You'll probably still be hungry, and end up spending a fortune. I would definitely go back for -not- on the menu drinks. A good place for starter cocktails and an appetizer. read more

I've been to Level on several occasions but surprisingly found I had not reviewed it. The hubs and I were just here this past weekend and as usual it was excellent! The food and drink menu is constantly changing and they get all of their ingredients from local farms. We have had many unique and tasty cocktails at Level but this past time I ordered the "Trique Trique" a rum cider drink with a pumpkin infused foam on top. Holy mother this thing was good. After tasting it, my husband decided he needed one too. For food we split the farmhouse salad, usually I dont rave about salads but the dressing was delicious and the walnuts were seasoned and toasted to perfection. We also split the fried brussel sprouts (try them!), scallops with bacon (melt in your mouth good) and the italian meatballs as recommended by our server, Antonio. Everything was great. And our service was too. The only thing I would warn you about is the cocktails. They are delicious and you will want more than one! The are also pretty pricey ($10-$12 each) and with a couple per person and all your food....you're lookin at a decent sized bill. But I highly recommend giving this place a try. Just went back after a long absence on a weeknight. Food is still great. The spicy Tuna was quite tasty as was the beet salad. We also ordered a flat bread which was described as pulled short rib garlic cream sauce, caramelized onions, parmesan, mozzarella, blue cheese, local arugula. It was heavy on the cheese and I could barely taste, let alone see the short rib meat, so that was disappointing. Didn't taste bad, it was just a little heavy on the Moz and light on everything else. Their bartenders are always helpful and attentive and know their stuff. We did think they could have a few more affordable bottles of wine on the list (under $50). All in all level is still one of few go to places in Annapolis for consistent food with a nice atmosphere, and since they expanded a few years ago its much easier to get seating. read more

First time tonight. Our drinks were amazing, angels and demons. What a balance ! Didn't get to try food since we were hopping around but the menu made me excited to come back when I had the room for it ! Tyler the bartender was amazing !!!! So knowledgeable and kind . So, we've been here a couple of times since my last review and eaten both times. We've had a variety of plates and shared them all between our group. Last night, we ordered the bacon and mushroom flat bread (delicious!!!!! I had to force myself to share) Garlic fries (I still smell this morning!) tuna tartare (I didn't try but it looked delicious and I'm assured it was) roast sweet potato with bacon (very interesting taste, I would definitely recommend the salt and sweet together was amazing) beef satay (beef cooked beautifully so that it fell off the skewer) fish chowder (very fishy, a little too much for my taste but the bit I did have was lovely) ooh what else? I can't remember! Our group sampled a few cocktails, one of which was a little overdone with agnostura bitters. I had the homemade cream soda which was DELICIOUS! Not too sweet at all. I will definitely be having more! I also had a club soda which I thought was a little overpriced at $3. However, not to moan, this place is delicious and ambient. I love going to Level whenever I'm in Annapolis. The drinks are always really good and the staff is super friendly. The food is really great. As a vegan, there wasn't any options on the menu other than a salad, but they made made a special vegan risotto that was amazing on the spot. I've never seen a restaurant be so accommodating before. read more

We were two tourists in Annapolis on Friday night. We feel so fortunate that we found this place or did it find us? The open air seating beckoned us, and after a short wait at the bar, we were seated at a table upstairs. The food is fantastic--local, fresh, and prepared perfectly.. The rockfish and tuna more than rocked. Osso bucco--beautiful. Salad superb. Dessert banana chocolate bread pudding and french press coffee--sweet. Nice wine list. The staff is absolutely stellar. Staff was sexist and rude. Insulted my friend's wife in public. I am a long time patron who will NEVER be going back. We were excitedly taking our friends there for the first time, and one went home in tears because of the staff's rudeness. read more
