This was my first visit to Level7. I was really looking forward to enjoying the rooftop, the tapas and cocktails. We ordered meatballs and they were good, but the shrimp tacos were not (chewy/tough tortillas and breaded petite shrimp that tasted like they'd been frozen). I also ordered the margarita- $14 and it was watered down. But the VERY WORST thing about Level7 was the service! We arrived there around 4ish and it was sparse. We ordered our first round of tapas and drinks. After the server delivered our initial order, she never came back. We couldn't have ordered anything else even if we'd wanted to. We asked THREE different servers to bring us our check. After waiting for a very long time, we finally went to the bar to pay the check. The bartender seemed very inconvenienced that we wanted the check, and she was really annoyed when I asked for an itemized receipt! I gave them a star- for the rooftop patio and the meatballs. The crowd is somewhat older; but I liked the mature vibe. I went here a few weeks ago following a dinner for my 25th birthday with some friends around 10:30pm. It was a nice place to grab good drinks before heading out for the night. Seats are first come, first serve; but we were eventually able to grab a couch (there were six of us). Honestly, I had a really hard time getting over the bright fluorescent lighting outside. I felt like I was in an office, not a bar. Nobody wants to be that well-lit, what were they thinking?? Beautiful modern decor but view is mostly obstructed by neighboring buildings. Drinks are a bit over priced and served by amateur bartenders. For example: $12-14 for a mixed drink and $7 for an import bottled beer. Could not make a basic drink like a Manhattan correctly. It was not terribly crowded but took more than 10 minutes to have a drink in hand. Table service also a bit hit or miss - staff is too new to answer all questions about the menu. Server brought someone else's order and then had to wait same amount of time for him to return. Staff in general is so green they could not answer basic questions about the hotel. For example: how many rooms? They need and have room for more seating. Lighting could be toned down a bit to add to ambience. Neighboring Capital Grill has a much more sophisticated service profile and earns its high prices. read more

Came for cocktails and was not impressed. The waitress was not familiar with the drink or food menu...didn't know if they had sparkling rose or what one of the 4 charcuterie meats was. She brought the bus boy to open the bottle and he didn't know how to open it. Waitress came back to pour the rose and left it on the table. Apparently she's not aware it needed to be kept chilled. Small plates had a long wait time. For being an upscale bar the lack of knowledge was embarrassing. Wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it read more

My wife and I went last night for the first time with my brother and sister-in-law. The bar was nice, the view was great, but our experience getting in was terrible. We were "greeted" (I'll use this term very loosely) by a police officer in dress clothes. He all but demanded for our ID, never smiled, and before taking our IDs used his hand to open his jacket, exposing his badge/belt/handcuffs. We literally thought he was showing off or something - it was bizarre. Maybe I look young, and I understand he has a job to do, but he could not have been any more rude. He stared at my wife and sister-in-law while checking their IDs. Not just a glance to make sure the picture matched - but a rude, creepy stare at them in between using his flashlight underneath our IDs to make sure they weren't counterfeit. I felt, going into Level 7, that I was under interrogation before I'd even placed an order. Deputy Doofy needs to take a lesson in manners and etiquette. He could have easily checked our IDs while remaining pleasant and inviting and changed our entire experience. Him checking our IDs was the topic of conversation the rest of the night. Visited on a Friday night around 7pm. Other reviews mention crowding, but this was it a problem during our visit- it was busy enough to feel happening but we were still able to find seats outside next to the salsa band. The patrons were diverse and skewed 40+. The outside bar had an icee machine filled with frozen rose, which looked yummy, but I passed due to the small portion size- it was served in a coup champaign glass. The band was fun and we enjoyed watching the dancing. We will likely return next time we are in the area with 30 minutes to burn. read more

Don't waste your time during early evening. Service is non existent at best. View is meh. All you get is street and buildings. Some people watching. Did not try food, so I can't comment. What I saw looked good. Drink prices are on the high side for off the beat Raleigh. How do you not have a wait staff and enough bartenders to serve a 25% full bar. Great open air view. HOWEVER, I ordered a glass of red wine. Bartender suggested the cab, i agreed (9 oz pour). Gave him my card to hold tab open. I settled up after just the one. The ONE glass of wine cost $21. Now, I've had , admittedly, quite a few cocktails in many fine establishments in NY and other high-priced areas. I have never paid that much for a glass of wine that the bartender recommended. If it's a premium drink, the bartender/server will tell you the price and something about it. Not here. Maddening. The menu is a joke. I ordered the antipasto salad and it was literally a salad....with arugula and all! Common! Beautiful space inside and out. Really has that "city" vibe. Diverse crowd age-wise which was good to see. Food was only average. Service left alot to be desired. Our waitress was attentive and personable, but it took too long for drinks and food to get to the table. One person in our party didn't even get her food until the others were finished and it was overcooked. To sum it up, go for the view but take your patience and your wallet with you. read more

Cool rooftop bar on the 7th level of the AC Hotel. Prices were a bit high ($7 for crap beer, higher for other options). I ordered their specialty Gin and Tonic ($14!). They eventually brought it out in a large sniffer glass with star anise in it, and a small bottle of Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic. I will probably make this drink again at home when I can do it for significantly less. read more

Went to Level7 tonight, new rooftop bar at North Hills. The ambience was great and the view ok (all you see are the buildings around that area since it's the 7th floor). The service was less than great and the food was terrible and overpriced for the amount. The drinks were good but expensive. We decided to order small plates and share. I ordered the Eggplant toast, my friend ordered the seasoned potatoes (overpriced and very small portion version of French fries) and the other friend ordered tomato and olive oil toast. The impression was there would be actual tomato on it, but after getting the small plates 45 mins later the tomato was actually a very light smear of tomato sauce that was cold. It was terrible. One friend opened a tab at the outdoor bar (they gave her card back) and we found seats inside. The server wouldn't let her order a drink at the table because she had a tab open already outside. This was strange. Also the furniture is not that practical when you can't put your feet under a table and have to sit sideways. We are not afraid to admit that we are likely not their target demographic but just felt it needs a lot of work still. read more

If you want to wait for hours to get service, this is the place to go! Staff is new to the industry and they do not even know if they have in stock a bourbon. It is faster to go to the bar and browse on what they have available. If you are a big group, make sure that you get all you ordered since they tend to forget some of it. read more

Level 7 offers a fun atmosphere and lots of space which I appreciate. I tried a couple of the specialty drinks and one small plate. Drinks were great..Food needs some work! Husband and I visited on a Sunday evening for my and loved it! Atmosphere, food, drinks, and service was great. Sat on the patio and enjoyed drinks and live band. Update: we returned on Saturday night and will not do that ever again. So crowded yet we did find seats but all of our cocktail drinks were terrible. The bartender outside was so busy and it looked like she was just throwing stuff together. We asked the bartender inside to remake one of the drinks (Long Island Ice Tea) and it was just as bad. This place had a really cool ambiance but that's about all it had to offer. The food menu was lame. Drinks were expensive but I expected that. $14 for a standard gin and tonic in a very small glass, it's whatever.. place was fullll of Chads, like we literally watched a fight break out before 9:00...But really it was the staff that was really atrocious. One of the bartenders outside literally watched 4 people cut my boyfriend in line, then when he finally got up she told him it wasn't his turn and took someone else.. and then of course her system went down and they closed that bar and he had to go inside and wait in another line for 20 minutes. I was sitting at the table right next to the bar, hadn't had a drink yet so I 100% saw this happen sober. We were annoyed. But then it got even worse. There's no smoking areas on the rooftop, which I understand, but my boyfriend went downstairs to smoke and then they wouldn't let him back up cuz there was a line to get back in. Meanwhile he had an open tab and I was stuck up top by myself. It was raining out and we already spent $40 on an Uber to get there and then we had to leave because no one would let him back inside. I even asked a bouncer upstairs if he'd be able to get him back in since he knew we were already there together and he said no. It was a Friday night and raining and everywhere else in north hills also had an incredibly long wait to get in. Only had 2 drinks knowing we spent $80 in ubers to go there due to their terrible policy about not letting him back in. So 2 drinks each+uber we spent $136 before tip, and now they get to cash him out since he couldnt get back inside to do so and who the hell knows what kind of tip they'll add, all to have 2 lousy drinks. He works 3 jobs and this was our first time out in a very long time and wanted to do something nice.... what an absolute disappointment and waste of money. read more

If the goal of this hotel bar is to be the "it place" in Midtown Raleigh, Level 7 misses the mark. Although it's aesthetically pleasing, service, drinks, & non-live music (music is from a corporate playlist) are horrible. Perhaps they didn't get the message that if a person is paying over $10 for a cocktail, it should be hand crafted. I ordered the signature margarita, of which the bar tender poured all of the pre-mixed ingredients into the glass that was filled with oversized ice cubes, added a straw (with his bare hands...I have an issue with that) to the drink, and basically slammed it in front of me. I requested that he shake it up (especially bc of the pre-mixed ingredients) and he did so begrudgingly. He then asked if I was starting a tab and I told him no. He gave me the bill and I asked for a pen. He asked for my card. Perplexed, I asked why he needed my card if I wasn't opening a tab and he told me I needed to pay. I asked him if it occurred to him that I'm a hotel guest and would be charging it to my room (can you say profiling...and you know the type I'm referencing); clearly it never dawned on him. I'm globally well-traveled and have been to some of the best bars in the world. I highly recommend Level 7 does some bench marking with new local establishments in downtown Raleigh and Durham that know how to patronize their clients and set the mood of the bar with superb service & diverse music & DJs. read more

A rooftop bar of the AC Marriott chain. Nice location & relaxed set up, but the staff came across as being miserable and indifferent. The clientele was diverse & seemingly open to others...wink wink.
