I went in hoping to be able to try on their commuter jacket. First, customer service was horrible. I was followed around, never asked if I needed help or anything. Maybe it's the holiday season but it seems like there are two workers available to help for every customer. Everyone seems willing and able to help. The store has a nice layout and for being smack dab in the middle of Downtown SF, the store isn't too crowded. I didn't give them the last store because my friend couldn't get a refund. Basically she ordered pants online because the size she wanted, they don't carry in store. Because she bought it for more than 50% off they are unable to refund it in store and only give her store credit, which can't be used online. And since she can't find her size in store it's an unfortunate catch 22. In the end, make sure you read the fine print for in store and online purchases. read more

I absolutely love the customer service in this store... Like right from walking into the store...to finding your Curve ID.. picking your wash, trying them on...and purchasing.... Never was a fan of Levi's until Last sunday when i tried and purchased my very first pair. I didn't know a pair of good jeans could be bought for cheap! (On top of that, it was on Sale too!).... I got serviced at their denim section and find a pair for me on the first try. They were having 30 percent off all denim, so that was super. I'm BOLD, if you're wondering. At the checkout counter, they asked who helped me and I couldn't remember a single name. I don't rate retail stores 5 stars, ever, but this place blew my mind. EVERYONE was nice! Not just the people who say hi when you walk in, but EVERYONE. From the girl that helped pick out what jeans would fit me the nicest, to the girl in the dressing room, the guy at check out, EVERYONE. I came in looking for jeans because I don't wear them and my job is switching things up a bit on me. I figured since I was in San Fran and downtown I would stop in. The 30% off sign lured me in, and I'm happy I came in! Just so happened that my favorite style of "skinny" jeans were that wonderful 30% off, and Hannah showed me the best fit for my body style. I tried on probably 15 pairs of jeans, and ended up walking out with 2 really great pairs for $118 after tax. I wish the staff was as laid back and helpful at every store I shop at like they are here. Whatever you guys are doing, keep doing it! read more

Okay store. I am just disappointed because they charged me full price for a pair of 504s even though they had 50% off signs throughout the store. Apparently there was fineprint limiting the sale to only specific items. Yet nowhere on the items did they indicate which ones were or were not on sale. There were plenty of helpers working today. That was nice. One of them seemed too rushed, but the store was busy today so that might be why. The selection is good. The new Levi store is nice. They pay homage to their old designs and construction methods. Customer service was pretty good. I inquired mainly about building my own tailored jeans. I was SHOCKED to find out they cost $750 FOR 1!!!!!. Levi's isn't a premium brand and their jeans cost more than Gucci and Louis Vuitton. I think I'd rather buy something off the shelf and then just have it altered and save.....I don't know....$500. Their vintage jeans collection is super pricey as well. Workers there have horrible customer service. The cashier was very unfriendly when trying to return a few items and made it feel very uncomfortable; as such that, it was such a chore for them to do. Store setup looks very nice. But just to grab a pear of jeans to try on, you need to wait for an available employee to hand you your specific size. The staff here are very friendly and helpful! I received exceptional customer service from the sales associates working at the register. Alex went above and beyond with a return I had for an online purchase. I wanted the jacket I purchased in a different size and she located it at another store which took some time to get situated but she made sure they price matched it and shipped it to me at no cost. The advertised tailor shop here isn't actually a tailor shop, it's just an extension of their style branding with a sewing machine. If you bring in a pair of pants with a structural problem (like a poorly-sewn seam that has torn, or a tear that has happened near the edge of a pocket), they'll have no problem telling you that they won't repair it if it's not in line with their sense of style. Translation: pay for an elaborate $80+ patching and refinishing project instead of a $20 simple sew-up job or we're not lifting a finger. If your situation is like mine, they'll tell you it's because "our manager doesn't want us to be associated with anything that doesn't look good." When you tell them, oh, that's fine, these are just around-the-house and yardwork jeans, they'll tell you that you should still either buy a new pair or pay more than the jeans' purchase price for a repair. That approach would be fine if the construction was better than it is. Instead, you get H&M quality pants at Levi's prices. I spent twenty minutes and about $2 sewing up the pants that Levi's wanted nothing to do with, and they look great. Sorry, Levi's, but you've jumped the shark and your "tailor shop" was the last straw. After a lifetime of loving this brand, we're breaking up. read more

I been to a lot of places to buy Levi's but the main line store in San Francisco definitely takes the cake. The jeans they carry come in a wide range if styles and colors, some jeans might be more expensive but once you try them on you can tell the difference in the quality by the feel of the jeans. Besides the product the staff was friendly and knowledgable about the product, I also believe that this is the only store that sells exclusive style jeans in the area such as the commuter jeans that have reflective 3m lining for people who bike as well as other exclusive styles. We went to Levi's today to do some shopping for jeans for each of us. The store was tastefully decorated and very easy to navigate, with the men's section on the left and the women's section on the right. Shelves were full of all combinations of sizes and lengths of jeans and everything felt tidy and fresh. I have to say the most defining feature of the store was the impeccable service we got from its staff members. While browsing the sales floor we were approached multiple times by different employees looking to help us out. When we did ask for help, they showed us all the places we could find the jeans we were looking for and even went to grab them for us. They introduced themselves and called us by name which made it a really personal experience. When trying on clothes they were also nice enough to go and grab different sizes or colors so we could stay in the back trying things on. The prices were a little expensive in store, so I'd recommend you take a look on the online store or at other online vendors before purchasing. A $68 pair of jeans I saw in store was $35 online and then there was a code to take an extra 40% off, bringing the total to under $25. Be careful about prices and deals and shop smart, but definitely don't pass up on the wonderful service in the Levi's store! read more

The moment I walked in I knew it was going to be a good experience. I was greeted properly and the layout of the store made sense, I knew exactly where to go. As I searched for a perfect pair of jeans, there were two people who asked to help me. I have worn Levi's jeans before but it has been over five years. 514 (slim straight) used to be my favorite jeans but when I tried them on, they felt weird. Fashion has changed since the last time I had worn these jeans and I felt like they didn't fit the way I wanted to. The lady in the dressing room helped me out and got some Tapered Slims 522; jeans I never even knew existed. She suggested I go down a size since the waist rises a little higher and could fit a bit big; she was right and I found the perfect jeans. There was a sale going on: buy 2 pairs and get 30% off. I decided to look out for my second pair of jeans. Sorting through joggers and jeans, another 2-3 employees asked to help me. I loved all the attention even while there were 50 other people in the store. I ended up buying another color in the 522 Slims that day. read more

I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could; to me a 5 star rating is reserved for knock your socks off experiences. That said, I had a very pleasant time purchasing jeans earlier today. The staff were all helpful and seemed to be glad to be there, an increasingly rare situation in retail. Kudos to Rama (that's how it sounds, spelling may be wrong) who recommended a style I didn't know existed, which proved to be exactly what I was looking for. He later saw me waiting in line to pay and again engaged me in a most friendly way. Prices were higher than I have seen at other locations but I didn't mind paying more. My experience shopping for jeans was great. Super helpful and patient staff. Told them what styles I leaned toward and they gave me plenty of suggestions. Unfortunately, my experience with the in house tailor shop, not so awesome. I found a pair of jeans I loved and figured I might as well just use the in house tailor shop...what could go wrong? Plenty. First of all, know that you have to specifically request if you want them to keep the original hem (the person that helped me initially didn't ask what I wanted done. I had a weird feeling I should check so I said 'hey, you guys do original hems, right??') and that's $35. Second of all, you have to pay up front. Again, I assumed they knew what they were doing...they basically only hem jeans, right? A couple days later I went to pick my jeans up and they definitely did not have the original hem. When I pointed it out, the explanation was 'oh, when we do the original hem, we unravel the actual hem and roll it back up again'. Um, pretty sure that contradicts the term 'original hem' and really would have been nice for you to mention in the first place since every other tailor hems it a different way! So now I'm left with jeans have a much thicker band at the bottom and they just look weird. Basically, it looks like I did the hem myself. The only thing they offered to do was unravel it again and take out some of the material. Again, not what i had asked for in the first place. Not worth it. Come here for the jeans, take them elsewhere to get hemmed. read more

Damn this place was fantastic! out of all the clothing places ive visited here in San Francisco, this is the place for jeans. no doubt! Came in expecting to select my own jeans by myself(what i usually do) but got help from THE sales associate, Chip. This guy has a talent for knowing jeans, giving advice on them, and aiding you in selecting them. Dudes a natural! It made my time easier and gave me more knowledge on the various Levi's Jeans. Overall, best time buying jeans. Thanks a ton Chip! You are the expert! The store overall is friendly and courteous. They really do assist in anyway they can to aid your selection experience; whether it be from associates working in the fittings rooms to cashiers. Ill definetly be coming back here on my next visit. I was in this store twice on two separate days and was blown away by the customer service both days. I was approached within minutes of arriving and the staff person stayed with me to find the jeans I was looking for and brought me to the changing rooms. They even made an effort to help find jeans that were on sale. The changing rooms were clean and the attendants there were helpful and not fawning but honest in their feedback. They quickly found other sizes and colours to try. It was such a 180 from most change room experiences you get these days. read more

I got a pair of jeans and they smelled horrible. After wash or if there is any moisture in the air it heightens the stench. Formaldehyde??? Or a new kind of dye you are using in the jeans??? It's not only Levi, it's almost any brand jean can be a hit or miss with the stench. Its gross. How come 2 years ago, this was never a problem? Why out of no where. You guys are getting the poor review in hopes you can send it up the chain to someone who can actually do something about it. I have to say, coming into this store will make you forget you're in the pit of Market st. I came in last weekend to help my boyfriend pick out some new denim. We were shortly greeted by Andrew, who treated us like we were the only guests in the store. He was absolutely amazing. While my boyfriend tried on different items, Andrew walked me through how to care for the denim to keep the fit right. He helped us pick out some great pieces and was honest if something just wasn't a good fit. He even helped with sizing, which is surprisingly difficult given that he was helping to dress a pretty tall guy. I know it seems simple, but you just don't find retail employees who are knowledgable and passionate about their brands anymore. It was incredibly refreshing. The store itself was great too. Well stocked, with a really great staff overall. I couldn't be more impressed. I wasn't a huge Levi's fan before, but I actually went back this week to buy a few tips for myself. Maybe like 3.5 5 for service! Came here on Black Friday 2015. So helpful when trying on jeans at the dressing rooms despite how busy it was. Loved the girl who assisted me in getting more sizes and she told me if the jeans looked good or not and her suggestions for other styles were great. Checking out and paying was not so bad...check out girl didddddd kind of talk a little bit too much and should've paid more attention to what she was doing. Really fast check out compared to the other stores around here for a Black Friday. Didn't wait so long and the line was comparably shorter than most major stores (but if you're out and about on Black Friday everyone knows the lines they will expect to wait in). Now the major downfall... I live in Los Angeles. I came back after my trip, unpacked everything I bought from up north. Most of the Levi's clothes purchased STILL HAD SECURITY TAGS ON THEM. $500 worth of stuff... And now have to figure out where I can take them to have them taken off with out looking like I stole all this merchandise. read more

This review is regarding repairs performed to a pair of beat up denim. Took my jeans in to have the knees, crotch, hems, and back pockets repaired as these are my go to jeans and worn often. I was quoted $90 for everything (~$10 per patch IIRC) and was told the jeans would be ready on the 4th (roughly 5 days later), no problem. I make the trip into the city on, you guessed it, the 4th to pick up my jeans. I arrived at 3:00 pm and the jeans are not ready, "I'm doin em now, sorry man"... sigh. Ok, so no jeans. I tell them, OK take your time, I'll be back in a few days. I'd rather have them done right than a rush job. So, 5 days later I show up, the jeans are ready, I pay and collect the jeans. I want to wear them out, so I ask if I can use the fitting room. The guy thinks I want to check them out, and says something along the lines of they're fine, no worries. I tell him, I'd like to wear them and he shows me to the fitting room. As I'm changing, I notice that the crotch simply has a piece of fabric ironed on and there is no actual repair (stitching) done. I take the jeans out to him and ask what's going on. He quickly gives them to Mr.I'm doin em now and he stitches them up. I'm off and on my way. I'd like to stress that not only was my over all experience bad, but the repairs are mediocre as well. One of the knees already blew out around 2 weeks after being repaired. I will NEVER go back for repairs or likely anything else, caveat emptor. read more

Levi's...your old flagship store disappointed. And your new one...well, that disappointed as well. Let's recap what happened during my first visit to this store. I unfortunately can't find many pants that fit me, and if I can locate them where I can try it on I love it even more. Levi's is one place that I know where I can do that. So last Friday (12/27) I stopped in after work to pick up some denim. I walked in and noticed that it was a madhouse. That's a bit expected with it being a new store in a high foot traffic area after the holidays. First off, no one (except for the rental security guard) greeted me. Searched around for about five or six minutes for an employee and finally found one folding jeans with a grumpy look on her face. So I walked up and said, "Hey. Do you mind if I ask you for her." Look of daggers for bothering her, but she reluctantly said, "Yeah. What do you need?" So I said, "I was wondering if you have anything in the store in a size 33x36." She started to answer, and then asked me what size I was looking for. I repeated myself, to which she said, "Sorry. We don't make that size." I laughed and said, "That's interesting. Because I am currently wearing a pair of Levi's in that exact size. And I don't think they would discontinue them." She looked down at my jeans and then said, "Well, we don't have that size in the store." It was now my turn to give a dirty look, and I said, "Your manager must be extremely pleased with you that you were able to memorize every item in the store and know when something is added or removed from inventory." She walked away in a huff to help another customer, and I started looking through the various stacks of denim that were in unorganized heaps throughout the store. Another sales associate finally came over to assist me. I showed her a pair of jeans in a specific style and wash and asked if they had my size in the store. She left for about five minutes or so, and then returned and said that they didn't have them in that specific wash. I asked her if she could check to see if them in any wash or any style in that size. She started to protest and then stopped, turned around, and left. She returned less than two minutes later and informed me that they didn't have anything in that size in the store. Which to me, is extremely odd that it took longer to search for one specific wash/style/type but took virtually no time to search the entire store. Bottom line - Levi's has shitty customer service. The unfortunate fact is that they have a good product, that could easily sell itself. It's the poor excuse for customer service in their employees that would be the downfall. If you want to buy Levi's, I suggest going online or shopping at their Castro Store (525 Castro Street) or their Levi's Plaza location (1155 Battery Street). read more

Shopping for jeans is about as much fun as you think it would be to shop for jeans, so I haven't done it in about 5 years. I now live in SF, so the incentive to shop here is even less so for me than the years of easy mall parking on the peninsula. Because Levi's have always worked for me, I decided to go to their new big store thinking I'd have the biggest selection. More or less, this has to be the most perfect shopping experience I could ask for. I was intercepted at the door, told the woman I wasn't there to browse, wanted to describe what I like, have some options thrown my way and leave. That's exactly what happened and a very game, young sales person named Yasmen (is that right? Sorry if my memory is too short!) made it happen. Took 4 pairs in, left with 2, one just right as it is and another had to be hemmed, so I stayed in the jeans, they took me right over and suggested the "chain hem" stitch looks best and took care of that part. At check-out I redeemed by 20% coupon, by signing up for their emails and the other pair of jeans were 50% off! Lastly, for $7 they were willing to ship them to the house, so I don't have to battle the downtown traffic and parking again! Perfectly happy and hoping it will be at least another 5 years until I do it again, but if I must, this store has everything coordinated in the best possible way. Levi would be proud. P.S. Another salesperson, a woman, curvy, but tiny, had a pair of custom made Levi's for $700. Sounds insane, but they looked like exactly what they are: made to fit. read more
