I'm generally not a fan of franchises, but this is certainly an exception. The info / fact cards next to each bottle make it pretty hard to screw things up, assuming you have a very basic idea of what you like and what you don't. It's a great store, and the owner, Stu is always incredibly helpful. Whenever I have a question, he is always able to give his opinion as he tries everything before stocking it for sale. Most importantly, I've yet to purchase anything that I really didn't like. In fact, most of the time I more than happy with my purchase. On-street parking is generally easy, and there's always the municipal lot as a backup. Prices are extremely reasonable, which is the main calling of the Vino 100 brand. read more

Vino 100 has a great tag line: excellent wines for under $25. Although a franchise, each owner gets to decide what wines to choose. Many don't succeed, but this one thrives. Unlike other wine stores, the wines here are organized by body and taste, generally arranged by grape. They have party wines; and those for the more discerning palate. The owner's tastes match my own, and probably most people who drink a lot of wine. Stu, the owner, also has a pretty big wine refrigerator and a nice selection of wines for special occasions that are over $25, so if you're a big spender and want a good Chateuneuf du Pape, an Amarone, or Oregon Pinot Noir, you'll still be happy. Their liquor section is selective, yet comprehensive. It's a nice combination. The service is well-informed, generous and truly helpful. I was pleasantly supprised by this family run, wine boutique in Downtown White Plains. The staff was friendly and knowledgable and the prices were very fair. We got most of the bottles for under $20. I liked that they had a small but good, hand-picked selection of bottles. This place is really a great addition to White Plains. The variety of wine is really nice, and the quality of these wines are better than a lot of the major brands. In addition, although this place has a boutique feel, it doesn't have boutique prices or pretense. I found some great bottles for under $9 that are fantastic. The owner and staff are very helpful, but they don't get in your face. They let you peruse at your own speed and when you do ask questions they don't make you feel uneducated. They also give excellant recommendations. Finally, I really respect Vino 100 because they do a lot of work with the local community holding wine tastings and sales where a portion of the sales go to local charities. This is a wonderful wine/liquor shop on Mamaroneck in White Plains--my favorite place to purchse wine in the area. There are a couple other stores closer to my apartment but I make the trip to Vino100 because I love the selection there and the owner is really kind and knowledgeable. If you sign up for their loyalty program they sometimes offer a 15% discount on purchases of 6+ bottles. Every so often Vino100 hosts free wine tastings and the bottles are sold at a discount. what i like about living part time in white plains is that you can find any type of store in the downtown area and vino 100 is one of them . i had a list of the wines that i had to pick up but its hard not to browse around first as the layout of assorted wines and spirits are neatly on displayed on wall shelves , tables , etc. i am getting a quick lesson about each bottle by reading the tags but i tend to be more intrigued by the labels on each bottle especially the artsy ones. after 10 minutes of browsing its time to pick up what i came for and lucky me all 3 different brands are in stock and prices are fair and with your yelp check in you get a discount on multi bottle purchases. they have wine tasting events which you can sample new wines and even being a non drinker like myself i wouldnt mind trying something new for a change. a solid wine /liquor shop in downtown whiteplains that values its customers honestly . read more

Take your business elsewhere. The owner of this place is like a used car salesman - won't leave you alone while in the shop. Recently relocated from Phoenix and tried my luck at this shop seeing that I love me some good wine. Initially, the interaction was fine with the owner suggesting wines. When I told him certain types I would not purchase, he tried to argue with me about it. It was literally ridiculous. Thinking it may have been a one off, I returned the following week for a fine bottle of champagne for a very special celebration. He did not have the brand I was looking for and kept trying to push other types on me to make a sale. It was as if he was trying to make me feel dumb for only wanting to purchase that one brand. Needless to say, I left and will not be returning. I found another fine wine shop closer to my new home that is laid back with a great selection...my type of place. If you're up for some attitude, try this place. If you know what you like and don't want to be treated like you're buying a used car, AVOID. read more

Vino 100 is gleefully different, with the owner offering great (and reasonably priced) suggestions and a great knowledge of his extensive wine collection.
