Wow this place has so changed . Hollie Mollie not for the good. I hadn't eaten here in many years and was psyched for a fish sandwich and fries. I should have read yelp reviews before going. I ordered a flounder sandwich which comes with 2 sides to go . I want French fries and coleslaw. The lady says, " we're OUT of fries and we're OUT of coleslaw." .So I than decide I'll just have pasta salad and potato salad . She says we're ,"OUT of pasta salad ". So I wind up with side of mixed vegetables and potato salad . I watched the lady open a frozen bag of mixed vegetables from Weis market and the potato salad was straight up Sysco. The lady tells me they know longer make pasta salad or potato salad from scratch. I ask the lady did she put tartar sauce in my bag and guess what she says, " we're OUT of tartar sauce". Is this place really open for business? I guess they are OUT of plastic silverware and OUT of napkins too since they were absent from my PLASTIC bag. Some of the worst crabs I've had in a long time, mushy and waterlogged and not worth the price. The shrimp is also over cooked and mushy. I wouldn't be surprised if the crabs were reheated. We had good things about this place, but was very disappointed with the service and the quality of the seafood we bought. We ask them to steam shrimp which they could not accommodate. A visit here was a bit disappointing. We did purchase 2 lbs of farm raised shrimps and 1 lbs of Cod and both were fresh. Prices were high and the majority of the seafood were not local. For example, they had blue craps from South Carolina @ $65 per dozen. Why shipped crabs from SC when local craps are plenty? Most of the crabs were paper crabs, and they and the shrimp were overcooked to just waterlogged mush. Super disappointing to spend good money on a special beach feast, and end up with...that. I hope no one makes my mistake of going to this place without looking into it first. I got little to none of my questions answered by the people behind the counter, I've never heard "I don't know" in such a short amount of time. I tried to order soft shell clams and as he is picking them, most of them he had to throw back because they were bad. He then continued to tell me that they weren't really fresh and just get a shipment of soft shell clams once or twice a week.... I just said never mind and left and will never go there again. I honestly don't know why they got such terrible reviews prior. Every time I go in there I have great service Everyone is friendly and polite. The seafood is some of the best I've had around. My favorite is the already peeled and devein shrimp. They steam them for me and add old bay for no additional charge. Be mindful prices are higher for seafood of higher demand. The have some other menus items such as seafood salads and deserts, spices, and sauces. We called ahead so we could get our #1's. I ordered a dozen crabs Sunday morning to be ready for pickup at 6:20 that evening. When I arrived at 6:15 the crabs were ready. I took a look in the bag, no seasoning at all on the crabs. When I moved the top crabs around I noticed they weren't hot, maybe room temp or slightly warmer, but surely the ones on the bottom would be. The nice cashier added seasoning on top so I paid and left. When I got home (5 min drive) I pour the crabs out and they are all in fact cold. At this point it's past 6:30 (their closing time) so we move on and eat the crabs. Out of the 12 crabs we bought, 5 of them were undercooked. You know what a raw shrimp looks like? Yes, that was the meat inside the crab. Translucent and slimy. The shells were partially blue/green. We have been eating crabs our entire lives, so it doesn't take an expert to determine a suspect crab. And we all know the golden rule of not eating anything dead or uncooked. So we were really disappointed to have to toss 5 crabs. Almost half of our order. Fast forward to the next day- I called the store in the morning. The lady that takes my call is curt and unapologetic. I told her that 5 of the crabs were undercooked and they were cold when I picked them up. She confirmed that it wasn't normal for them to be cold. Okay- moving on. I want my money back for those crabs. She asks if I still have them- no, I only have photos that we took. Oh sorry, we need the crabs back to give any money back. Too bad, nothing we can do. Wait a minute.... yes! They are in the trash, I DO still have them! At this point the lady is nothing short of being a bitch and I offer to dig them out of the trash and bring them in. When I bring them in later on in the day, they are expecting me. The 'manager' Beth doesn't say a word and takes the bag of spoiled, stinking crabs. As she is dumping the crabs out she states, "did you have spaghetti sauce"? I said, who knows they were in the garbage can. She quickly determines that I can indeed have my money back for the 5 crabs after I have dug them out of the trash and brought them there and shouts to the cashier to do so. No apologies, no answers, nothing, nada. Just the worst customer service I've seen in a long time. In short, I hope the owner reads this and acknowledges that 2 people in managerial positions were rude, unapologetic, and probably the reason why people are generally dissatisfied with this business. All it would have taken were a few kind works, an apology, and resolution of the issue and I wouldn't have written this review and might have given the fish house another chance. Instead I had to dig the crabs out of my trash, drive them over, and waste my time in order to make a point. So we took that $20 and went to the Crooked Hammock and bought a couple beers and enjoyed our night. Good use of that money! read more

Just eh. Wait was long and prices were sky high. Not too many options for lots of fish options around with king crab legs and the good crabs. They did have lots of choices and fried goods and sides. However, not very fresh and took a long time overall. They did steam it there and did a good job. ONLY PLACE WE WILL GET CRABS! Be careful when ordering crabs from some of the other seafood stores or especially from trucks on side of road. Lewes only sells Chesapeake Bay crabs. Others sell crabs from Indian River and lower Del. Bay. No safe to eat including mussels and clams. Lewes only sells Chesapeake Bay shell fish. You may pay a little more, but you'll never be disappointed. We order from them all the time and they are very generous giving you extra crabs. After waiting 40 minutes (we were the only custiomers in the store) I was paid for the order and then I was informed that they did not have the sides I ordered. I substituted. We should have gotten four sides because each order comes with two. They decided to combine the sides in one container. It was our first trip and last. Five years ago we ordered a Bushel of crabs from Fishhouse. We ordered large as it was a retirement party and everyone enjoyed crabs. They were small, mostly light or empty and many were rancid. What they were was overpriced. Never went back until yesterday . Ordered a half dozen of number ones. They gave me 8 of the worst tiny crabs I've ever seen. Extra small missing their claws , empty, very light and a very odd color. They were simply not fit for human consumption and in 5 plus years this place is still ripping people off with high prices and horrible products. Beware! read more

Ordered crabs days ahead and given a price. When I went to pick them up, I was told the crabs were $60.00 more. I asked for manager and explained I was given a price already when I ordered. Manager said fine and took the price we were given which was $90.00. The supposed large crabs were small and light. We will never go back and we are local. read more

We bought "fresh" fish here after the Memorial Day weekend and it was promised to be fresh not frozen (it had been frozen) and worse, was days past being edible. I returned with the receipt when we were next in Lewes and the manager stated since the purchase had been made 3 1/2 weeks prior, she would not issue a refund. We got two steamed platters (shrimp and scallops). They were tender but had absolutely no seasoning on them. I ordered pasta salad and got home to find potato salad. Mixed vegis were rubbery and horrible. We were also disappointed to find no cocktail sauce for dipping and we didn't have any at home. I purchased fresh back fin crab meat and when I got home I found it had been frozen. I called them right away and said to them, you sold me frozen crab meat and I paid for fresh. I WAS TOLD IT WAS FRESH FROZEN, now that is a new one for me and I could not get a refund because the manager was not there and I had to wait until the next day. I could not wait until the next day and had to use the fresh frozen crab meat that night. I did email them but never got a response back. Being new to the area and not even getting a response back tells me a lot about that place. read more
