What left the strongest impression was sitting in the waiting area listening to the manager/owner conduct business calls that did not reflect the level of professionalism I expect from a company handling expensive vehicles. If I had known it was he who screwed up so badly I may have brought it back but do I want him working on the car again?? NO RESOLUTION, nasty attitude and out the money for the same repair twice. A couple red flags I should have noticed from the start was how they refused to quote me for the job. I got several quotes around RTP to bench mark the replacement of the transfer case chain and this was the only shop that wouldn't provide me a quote unless I dropped off my SUV and it would be a 160 diagnostic fee. I physically went into the shop to speak with David the service advisor and he mentioned how they were experts in MB, we discussed the common issue with the stretching of the borgwarner transfer case chain and it gave me confidence that these guys knew what they were doing. He also told me that they would not be the cheapest shop, but they will price accordingly. Prior to coming into the shop I asked David to provide me with a clear answer on the break down of parts and labor associated with the repair. They were not able to do that and kept beating around the bush giving very arbitrary numbers. The parts itself is 100 bucks and a liquid gasket is 10 bucks, so labor ended up being 1700! David was not able to give me the break down and at one point to me the gasket was priced at 50-100 dollar range. In the end it wasn't worth my time to argue with these guys as they continue to give me the sales pitch of "we sell a solution and do not provide a break down of labor cost" I can clearly see why they use that line because based on my calculations their labor rates are 300-400 per hour. When I picked up my SUV I got the invoice and asked for a break down of the repairs. Adam came out and discussed with me how they don't break down the cost and how they provide a solution. He asked if they came in at a lower price would I be so concerned about the transparency and pricing break down. I, of course, would not be as concerned about the breakdown because the math would have worked out. Even if you were priced at a 30% premium to other independent shops that would be reasonable, but in the end their pricing was as much as MB dealership prices which break down their parts and labor cost. Even McLaren breaks down their parts and labor cost, so I am not sure why it was such a big deal. In the end the pricing was reduced from 1793 plus tax for the repair to 1700. Lesson learned for me to not blindly trust any shop if they are not willing to quote for a specific repair.

He's always looking to help me save my money so that its not wasted on the unnecessary and has been successful in figuring out problems the dealership couldn't figure out. When I've bought a new (used) car, he let me know what fails on it a lot and what to look out for (a couple years later the thing he said would go, did in fact go, and it was great I knew to keep watching it)! I was coming out of one of the Cisco buildings in RTP and saw Dave waiting to return car keys to somebody in the building. I was in a bit of a hurry so I couldn't chat long but I asked for a card. The next day I hopped online and did what you're probably doing... research. I was surprised that I couldn't find any reviews since he has a comment section on his website and a majority are from tech people. Since I was already on Yelp I called around some of the local brake and auto shops to get an idea of what this was going to cost. I knew I needed new brakes and some rotor work because of the pulsing when braking. I then filled out the quote request form on Dave's site and was contacted later that night. His price was very competitive and considering the convenience factor I decided to give it a shot. Dave showed up around noon on the day we had agreed on and I met him in the parking lot to give him my key fob. I won't lie, it was a little unnerving giving a stranger my key but that's part of the deal. Fast forward a few hours and Dave called me to let me know that my car was done and to come down to get my key. I was expecting the price to be a little higher than what he quoted since that seems to be standard practice in this industry but it wasn't! After paying, I headed to my car and the first thing I noticed was that he put my "heat shield" window visor back up after doing my brakes. I know this has nothing to do with a brake job but it does say something about the man doing the job. I waited a week before writing this review to make sure everything was still functioning properly and I still have no complaints. Details: 2008 Infiniti G37 coupe | new brakes and turned the rotors.
