I have been purchasing new glasses every year with Lexington Eye, as my prescription had been progressing since 2018- or so I thought. Spending $600 and up for Lexington Eye for their "high-quality" frames and still struggling to read any printed material. The emotional trauma of my deteriorating vision affecting my job, reading to the blind. I discovered in 2024, with the wonderful help of Warby Parker, that the prescription from Lexington Eye was very wrong. It was, like all my previous glasses, an old prescription from 2018 (with my prior eye doctor). Not all the updated ones I had every year from Lexington Eye. Lexington Eye (Arlington location) did a recheck and helped me with this new info, found it to be accurate and replaced by latest glasses free of charge. No apologies and no reimbursement for all the other 6 pairs that are useless to me. My latest Gucci glasses, from Lexington eye are not even as comfy as my Warby Parker. Billing was never right, every single time i made an appointment it was changed or they made me an appointment with the wrong Dr (i've had at least 4 canceled appointments for just 2 yearly check ups). These is among the worst, greediest company in the medical business and they don't even care they are the worst. They make or contract out for the absolute flimsiest, worst quality glasses with frames that routinely break and they charge obscene prices for it. They require a 48 hour notice for cancellation otherwise they hit you with a $75 fee, picking this 2 day notice knowing full well emergencies come up and they can gouge people for more money. Lexington eye associates should be investigated by the state of MA for unethical business practices and quite frankly should be driven out of business. read more

I will start off saying that Dr Mullon is very nice and treated my daughter well when we were going. We toughed it out due to her. The office and everything associated with it is horrible and why we left. To start, during covid, they wouldn't allow anyone who had come into contact with someone with covid to enter the building. My wife is a nurse who was on the front lines dealing with covid patients. I got a frantic call, because she was standing outside the building with my then one year old being refused entry. I had to load up my other kid in the car and drive down from Wakefield. Absolutely ridiculous policy. You're healthcare professionals, you're going to have exposure. Turning away a fellow healthcare professional because of your over the top policies is flat out wrong. Have you ever had to sit around a waiting area trying to keep a toddler happy for multiple hours on end because the office is running behind? I have, several times. Every single person working there acts like they are doing you a favor by seeing you. The Dr would recommend a 4-6 month follow up. Without fail, you'd get booked for 8+ months out. I have confirmed with both our insurance and Lexington Eye that they are a tier 1 provider. Not once were we billed correctly. Sometimes they billed us as a tier 2, sometimes as a tier 3, every single time, the bill was a different random amount. Calling in was hit or miss, but most of the time the office would tell us we were wrong (spoiler- we weren't). Eventually my wife got the information for some sort of manager or supervisor who was able straighten things out more efficiently. Edit for the response: Our prior HMO had multiple tiers for specialists with different copays for each. It was confirmed that they were tier 1 (lowest specialist copay), but the office would always put it through with the wrong NPI number, as they had multiple, and it was always an ordeal to get fixed. Keep in mind, this was confirmed with management at one point. I'm not confusing specialist vs regular doc, or anything like that. We've been going to Microsurgical Eye Consultants and I feel like I have Stockholm Syndrome. We're in and out in 45 minutes (which is less time than it typically took for us to see even the first person at Lexington), an hour with dilation. The front desk staff is super nice to us, their optical office is great, and they schedule us when the doctor recommends. I know, Gregory, you're disappointed to read my review. Love love love Lexington Eye Associates - Lexington office. If you have a small child, this is where you want to come. The Lexington office, specifically Emily for a ophthalmic technician, is where it's at. We went to a different location first and the technician had an awful time getting the eye drops in my kids' eyes and they were honestly traumatized by it (so was I!!). Emily in the Lexington office is AMAZING with children. She is so kind and caring and gets the kids to do all of the tests and they are psyched about it. From the magic glasses (3D test) to the pirate test (eye charts) to the dreaded eye drops... she is a star. Her method of having the child lie back with closed eyes, put in drops, and then blink, works EVERY time. We first met her when my daughters were 4 or 5 and they still ask if we're going to "the right" eye doctor when we have an appointment. She also keeps her patients updated, moving, and to get to the doctor on time. The doctors are all good across the board and across offices, but it's the technician who makes or breaks the appointment. Thank you Ms. Emily! You are the BEST! read more

I have always had an entirely positive experience with their doctors, technicians, front desk, etc. I am quite surprised to see all the negative reviews that were posted. I would not recommend this office. Bedside manner is very transactional. The office is disorganized and incompetent on multiple levels. Management and client relations are very low on their priority list. A few examples: - ordering and purchase of eye ware with correct insurance coverage is challenging to the say least. Office incorrectly navigates insurance coverage at detriment to the patient - communication is challenged. Management does not hold patient time and effort as a priority failing to communicate updates to company policies ahead of appointments (most extreme case: dropped insurance with no notice ahead of appointment) - vision exam intensity causing long lasting health implication. (Most extreme case: intense eye exams with dilation triggered uncharacteristic migraine) read more

The real/honest reviews are on YELP. I really did not want to write this review, because 11 years ago my experience was different. But the fact that it's come down to this, hope it's a testament of how awful this place has become. 11 years ago I had a chalazion, I came to see Dr. Lin, and she has incredible bed side manner, she removes the chalazion in a surgical procedure, the entire process goes well. Fast forward to now, it is completely impossible to even get an appointment here, and after surgery even a followup appointment. When you're in dire need, the office doesn't care and neither do the doctors. After one botched surgery already, and months of waiting for an appointment, I come to see Dr. Lin in April: she sees my eye, and decides to remove the current chalazion i'm experiencing, and doesn't take time to answer questions, is incredibly rude, and shoos me out of her office. I come in on the day of the surgery and she says she "removed the chalazion" but not even 3 days later I still see a very prominent bump there. I ask her for a follow up , saying Im in pain and the bump is growing, she refuses. I try to contact someone in the office by calling and messaging every single day, and no one for days replies back.... They finally call back a week later and say they will see me for a follow up appointment, but the charge is 200 dollars, because I'm not in the "10 day follow up window" anymore. LMAO. I was only one day out of the window.... Even the billing lady was on my side, when I requested her to let me be seen, because the office was not cooperating in the first place, and she said she would ask Dr Lin if that's okay with her. Calls me back and said Dr. Lin refused!! THIS PLACE IS A MONEY HOARDING SCAM. Dr Lins behavior makes me laugh. 11 years I came here, they don't care about their patients they don't have any loyalty so DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. This put me in such a severely ill mental state, the amount of pain, suffering and just anxiety I went through because of this ignorant and disgusting doctor and practice is beyond me. Catarac sergery and my vision is poorer than before. The vision improved yet is porrer than before. Now I need glasses to correct near and far vision. After laser proceedure the vision became less blurry. Now I have [they say] dry eye. I was fine before the procedures. So I am wondering what is wrong and what is believable. Terrible experience. I brought my 7 year old daughter here for an eye exam. They made us wait for 2 hours before the doctor saw us. (Over an hour of waiting with her eyes dilated.) I've been going to eye appointments for over 30 years, and I have never had to wait like this before. I'm not sure how they think this is acceptable for children to wait this long. In overall, it is very frustrating and unpleasant experience. I could not see how seriously they are treating the prescriptions accuracy and also when something goes wrong, the optic shop please dont tell customer you could not keep remaking glasses for them. I met Dr Stanley in Lexington office on 8May, because my right eye is not seeing that well compared to my left eye, and also my glasses is very old. Current glasses they have measured (which later proved to be wrong): Left: Sphere -5.25, cylinder -0.25 Right: Sphere -6.50, cylinder -0.25 Updated prescription Dr Stanley provided: Left: Sphere -5.50, cylinder -0.50 Right: Sphere -7.00, cylinder -0.50 I learned later the process that cylinder means Astigmatism, which I never had. They did not mention anything about the astigmastism during the test, I did not know that was added to prescription. Dr Stanley said you only have slight increase right eye, -50 increase, left eye -25 increase. No mention of Astigamtism. The glasses made using the updated prescription is having a lot of issues of course. The Lady in optic shop (westford) believed i need a bifocal due to my right eye's increased prescription or I can use my previous prescription. I went with the latter choice as I dont want bifocal, Dr Stanley provided the prescription they measured to remake, it is still super uncomfortable. I went to the office and found out my actual glass reading is below. There is no astigmatism. Left: Sphere -550 Right: Sphere-650 What confused me a lot during the 2nd visit is that Dr Stanley did not remember she give me the updated prescription first time. She also said she asked the optic shop to check my refractive index when she gave them prescription, which I am not sure if that is optic shop's job. Also during troubleshooting for remakes and before they figured out it is the prescription issue, the first frame was believed big for my prescription. While I was picking up frames for remake, the other lady in the optic shop started losing patience and said we have remade twice, the lab will not keep remaking for you. They asked me to stick with my current frame since I am used to it. New frame styles may change the prescription and cause more problems. I have already paid more than 500 dollars for the glasses, I dont want to risk that in the end i dont get any glasses if they stop remaking for me if I insisted with a new frame style. So I compromised and sticked with the exact same frame I have worn more than 5 years and with no improvement to my right eye.... read more

Went for an annual eye exam which has been free for all my adult life ( based on my insurance ) and still got billed $300 plus out of pocket. What a mess, now have to spend my valuable time calling up billing department to sort this out. But now they are definitely trying too too hard to charge for no reason, like they believe they found i have dry eyes, but never talk with me about it and treatment! I don't even know they found it! This office exemplifies what's wrong with the health care system. We brought our son to the Arlington branch for a routine eye exam, and during the exam, we asked the doctor what the things we could do to help him, given that he was becoming near-sighted. The doctor basically said there was nothing she could do and that we as parents should just monitor it. We didn't think much about it at the time, but two weeks later we got a bill from the office, charging us for about $200 for a consultation. I was confused and called the office - the office told me that question about near-sight was specifically the reason for the bill, and that they would stop at nothing to get the money from us. For anyone that's thinking about going there, be warned of this practice. read more

Incredibly rude front desk associate. My partner attempted to make an appointment, and other than asking him to repeat his information several times, she had a terrible attitude. She became increasingly defensive When asking if the email was spelled correctly. When she asked him about his ethnicity, which is biracial, she said, "No, that's incorrect," and he said okay, well, I'm white and black to which she replied, "is not an ethnicity", and asked where his family was from, and forced him to choose a "euro-centric background." She then went on about how she doesn't like asking this question, and everyone hates being asked this question, to which he replied, I don't mind the question; I mind the way it's being asked". She then threatened to hang up on him and said the phone call was being recorded. At no point was this conversation professional or inviting -at that point, we decided to hang up. Your staff is rude, unprofessional, and frankly racist. I don't recommend anyone who isn't an affluent white person to go here as you will be treated "less than". read more

Called the Westford office due to an emergency with eye bleeding. I was told by the office that there were no appointments available for urgent needs. Explained that I was a patient I the Lexington office and could go to any other office to be seen and that this could not wait. They said that they would send out an emergency request to all Lex Eye centers to see if anyone could see me before the weekend started. Woman asked me to stay close to my phone so that I could answer when called. No one ever called back. Today, three days later I received a call asking if I needed an appointment. Lexington Eye Associates has gone downhill. I have been a patient there for 10 years. In the past several months, nothing has been done well at every level in the organization. Providers have written incorrect prescriptions (despite what is written in the chart), appointments have not been linked or confirmed correctly resulting in multiple visits, my insurance has not been billed properly and the billing office has not yet correctly submitted these claims despite my reaching out numerous times. I have tried to give them the benefit of the doubt in all of these situations, but their inability to do simple things correctly the first time, and even more egregiously not fix the issue when presented to them is unacceptable. I have contacted the office administrator and have heard nothing in response. Please do what is best for your eyes and save yourself a lot of hassle by choosing another eye care clinic. read more

The doctors and staff appear competent, but reaching them on the phone is beyond awful. Apparently calls are handled by a "call center." Every time I call. a recording announces "longer than normal" call waiting times. "Music" consisting of about five notes repeats over and over, and every 30 seconds or so, one gets the same "Please continue holding" recording. Often I give up after about 10 minutes and hang up. I am an existing patient and was told I have an abnormality with my vision about a year ago. The Dr I met with was great. I've been experience rapidly declining vision issues over the past 4-5 months so called in April and was given the 1st available appointment on July 29th. I asked to be put on a cancellation list and told the receptionist I was struggling with reading print media, etc and needed to be see sooner. She gave me 1st available 3 months later. I got a call last week saying they needed to reschedule and was told the Dr was not available on that date. I was offered the next available appointment in OCTOBER! So to be clear, the Dr, who was available on July 29th is no longer available, canceled my appointment and instead of trying to help me and get me in sooner, I was told I'd have to wait an additional 3 months. So 6 months to get an appointment for a rapidly declining vision issue. This is unacceptable. The receptionist was professionally but not helpful or sympathetic. The doctor I saw as great but if this is how they treat their patients, No thank you. I'll go somewhere else. Good luck getting an appointment! read more

Lexington Eye is the worst place to be seen. Just got off the telephone with Miranda at the call center. Rude and abusive. Doing us a favor trying to book an appointment for a serious eye infection. We have been seen by Lexington Eye for the last 35 years - our entire family. Now we can't even book an appointment. We live 1/4 mile from the Lexington office but now have to travel to the Concord office to be seen. Just too busy in Lexington to see us. Miranda was downright nasty. Waited two days for a call back. I scheduled my annual eye exam for Dec 2022 to renew my prescription for contacts. Lexington Eye Associates has cancelled my appointment at least 3 times (Dec 2022, Jan 2023, and Feb 2023 appointments have been cancelled). When they cancelled the Feb appointment, they said they could not get me in until April (even though I am willing to see anyone in the Lexington office). They could get me in earlier if I went to a different location. It is very frustrating especially when the contact prescription is only good for a year. Nina Farivari, M.D. was superb. I had two pre-operative, and two post-operative visits plus the actual procedure. She was efficient, thorough, extremely professional and pleasant. I grew up in Lexington and used to see Dr. Rice for many years. As a "senior" I've had some eye issues and I started seeing Dr. Kievel on a friend's recommendation 2 years ago. He just completed 2 cataract surgeries for me and I couldn't be more pleased. The entire staff has always been polite and cordial to me. A special shout out to Dr. Cronin who is always so solicitous! Extremely rude while attempting to schedule/reschedule appointments for my baby. Got a rude text 2 hours before appointment threatening to cancel the appointment I had waited months for if the online check in wasn't filled out. The tech who was doing my baby's exam was talking to her assistant instead of explaining things to me and then when I asked a question she said I'm talking to her I'll tell you when I'm done and didn't explain anything in detail to me. Also I caught the assistant tech staring at my legs while she sat there with her arms and legs crossed with a disgusted look on her face. Learn to work with people if you're actually going to work with people. First time mom and scared for my baby, they did not put my mind at ease. Headache from the beginning even before scheduling. I was having my annual testing done for follow up to glaucoma surgeries. The technician brought in the my scans And They said I had diabetic retinopathy. I asked my doctor what should I do. He seemed annoyed. He finally replied go to a diabetic doctor I don't know. I was in shock thinking that I had diabetic neuropathy. My diabetes was always under good control. Come to find out they brought in someone else's scans by mistake. No apoligies. And once I had a problem with my insurance company not paying a bill. The 2 woman working behind the desk came out like they were waiting for me to pounce on me. They embarrassed me in front of everyone In the waiting room. I understand they are running a business but their business and bottom line come before you the patient. That has been my experience. read more

I called the Lexington office a few days ago to reschedule my daughter's eye exam, one of the receptionist yelled at me. At first when I told her that I wanted to schedule at 9am, she raised her voice said:"What do you mean by night? We are not opening at night!". Then when I was trying to figure out my schedule, she was really impatient and rude, then she started to yelled at me several times. I am a customer who called in to reschedule the appt, I did nothing wrong and shouldn't be treated like this way. My daughter's eye doctor is really good though, so sad for her to work at this place. read more

If I could give zero, I would. My Dr. referred me to Dr. Keival at Lexington Eye. I've called five times to make an appointment. I was put on hold for 20 minutes the first time I called and then transferred to another person whose voicemail was full. I called back the next day and was again transferred to a full voicemail box. I tried again, and the person I spoke with took my number and said someone would call me. No callback. I just tried again and explained my situation to the person I spoke with, and she put me on hold and then disconnected me. I called again and got a very rude person who said I could talk with her Manager and then put me on hold for 15 minutes. I gave up. I ended up calling my eye Dr. and requested another referral and told him what a horrible experience I had trying to deal with this office. After reading the reviews, it's a good thing I couldn't get an appointment--a blessing in disguise. read more

I'm currently sitting in my fifth area waiting to see a doctor after being here for 1 hour 45 minutes. I'm going to be ridiculously late for work. Time to switch providers! SOOO SAAAD - This used to be a GREAT office where the patient always came first - not anymore - the patients are still most important but not as an individual but for how many patients they can squeeze in, in a day. Watch out for the incompetence of the Medical Assistants - who continually look for assistance - and - they do most of the exam including putting drops in your eyes - before you ever see a doctor. Be certain they have the correct patient - check-check & double check I was given the WRONG prescription - begs the question - who got mine. When I complained and request another appointment with a different doctor they seemed genuinely concerned - but - when I arrived for my appointment I was made to feel. that this was somehow my fault - I was told - "Remember, we're not charging you for this visit and are accommodating you by squeezing you in" REALLY !!!! So two visits each over two hours long - I finally have a correct prescription - but after 20 years at Lexington Eye I will be looking for a new office where the patients really do come first ! read more
