I'm honestly not sure why this place has so many negative reviews. It's one of the few local…read morerestaurants where you'll still find Olga making fresh, handmade tortillas right in-house, and that alone sets it apart. They don't cheap out on drinks or food, and the quality is consistently great. Portions are generous, and you get far more sides and extras here than at most Mexican restaurants in the area. The staff of ladies who work here are phenomenal--warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. There is only one older gentleman I've seen be rude to customers, but aside from that single exception, the service is excellent across the board. I judge Mexican restaurants heavily based on how they make a Cadillac margarita, and this place absolutely delivers. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is perfectly cooked, plentiful, and clearly made with care. For me, this restaurant is a solid five out of five. It's one of those spots that deserves far more credit than it gets. If you're looking for quality, authenticity, and great value, it's worth a visit.

I chose Italian, however she said they were out of it when she brought me my salad. I like that the salad came with avocado but the chicken was dry. The mariachi playing right in front of my table created a very lively ambiance. The restroom door distinguishes the gender. An Aztec woman was carved on the woman's room.

Make sure you come with a few people so everyone can get something different and you can share because the portions are huge. My chicken shawarma plate was like an explosion because every bite you just taste savory chicken with the most fire rice and you get 2 pita breads so you can make yourself nice little bites with salad and hummus and the sauces it comes with are just mouthwatering. The hot Cheeto burrito with the nacho cheese omgoshhhh there is no way you're going to take a bite and have something not to like about it. The overall service and my dine in experience was immaculate, we were greeted by the owner Ali who was running around getting everything done and at the same time the smile never faded away from his face he makes you feel so welcome that you actually want to sit and dine in because it's such a cozy vibe. If you have room left after all this deliciousness make sure you grab some of the best Fresca I've had, next time for sure trying some dessert. 1000/10 experience. Thank you! See you very soon. WORTH ITTTT!!!

I have been eating at La Barca since before they expanded to Downey and Bell Gardens location. The south gate little og location, the one on Montebello, all yummy. Legit never had a bad experience, always consistent. Molcajete is my go to. And tbh you get more for your buck than other place like Los Compadres. Goat Birria plate is a must, and safe for the non-mexican pallet meaning not intense or gamey. The carne asada plate and Tampiqueña(skirt steak) is also a solid choice. Like I said always consistent during my visits. This newer location in downey is very nice. I usually bring my family from out of town for dinner. Very clean, aesthetic, and service usually always friendly.

What I love is that even though the waitresses and I know speak English; we communicate in Spanish and it just feels so authentic. Now, the food. I love birria and love it here. It's flavorful, tender and just amazing. We've also had the chilaquiles, fajitas, and ceviche. Every thing is delicious! Even my picky 5 year old devoured his plate last night. The drinks are also so yummy and refreshing! I had a strawberry margarita and it was perfect. My son had the horchata and it was authentic! We love you La Barca.

I've been craving breakfast food for a while so I got the breakfast burrito to try. It definitely hit the spot for me, and it was so big I ended up splitting it with 2 other people. My friend got the breakfast bowl and I tried some. It was basically the same as the burrito but just deconstructed with quinoa as a base. It was all great! I love that Guacamaya serves breakfast all day for late risers like me. I really wanted to try the coconut Tres leches that was on display as well, but I think they said it was like $12. That was way too steep for me for a single slice.

The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived. We ordered gorditas, guacamole, and nachos. I had a margarita, and my friend enjoyed her nachos with a refreshing cucumber drink. We also purchased a cup of *Champurado* to go, after sampling it - and it's truly exceptional. My gorditas featured a delicious mushroom "meat" and soy chorizo. The chorizo had a delightful kick - a pleasant spice, not overpowering. The mushroom "meat" was fantastic! The guacamole was perfect, and I appreciated the NO tomatoes. I didn't try the nachos, but my friend seemed to thoroughly enjoy the diverse ingredients. We had a wonderful time and I'll definitely be returning. I highly recommend the *Champurrado*, the gorditas (especially the mushroom one!), and the guacamole. The soy chorizo was also excellent.
