Good service department / bad experience with sales I've had good experiences with the service department and plan on trying them more in the future. Jesse especially is super friendly and great to deal with. In the past I've had a pretty bad experience with sales: I was interested in purchasing a car from Lia Honda of Enfield, but they didn't have the color I wanted. As I was thinking about whether or not I liked the in-stock color, the salesman told me that his manager told him that the color I wanted was coming in that week. So, I put down a deposit but refused to sign a purchase agreement until I saw and drove the car. We all agreed. I found that we had miscalculated some numbers so I called to renegotiate the price over the phone. After some hesitation (understood) they agreed. Great! But then I received a call that they were not going to be able to get the color I wanted and they offered a lower price to take the in-stock car. I declined and asked to have my deposit refunded and they agreed. So far, not so bad. However, after a few days with the refund not posting and a couple of phone calls not being returned, I finally got in touch with a sales manager who told me that they hadn't processed my refund yet and he said, "Since you didn't keep your end of the deal, I'm not inclined to make this go any faster for you. You came to us looking for a car." I was pretty blown away by that. He also told me that no dealer would do a car locate without a signed purchase agreement. When I told him that I was doing that currently with another dealer, he said that couldn't be possible. (I now own the car I want) In all fairness, after estimating the refund being processed in a week or so, they did process it that day. There are several other dealerships in the area that provide much better customer service. Shop around. read more

They use an upsell when you come in for any service. They don't use Hondas specified maintenance intervals. They use much shorter intervals then they show you a book they created to make it look official. Example: Lia specifies trans fluid change every 30,000 miles. Honda specifies 90,000. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible! Sales experience & this is coming from a life long Honda owner and someone who has worked diligently in the car sale business prior. Long story short but detailed. I walked into the dealership to purchase a certified pre owned Accord which I seen online. I walked into the showroom and saw the vehicle. No one acknowledged me until I actually went to find a salesperson. After tracking down a salespersons, who seemed disinterested and annoyed by the presence of a human being, I told him that this was the vehicle I was looking for and i wanted to know if the dealership was a negotiating dealership, he simply said no and just brushed me off with no other interaction... follow up questions like budget, what I was looking for? nothing! While driving 45 minutes back home I contacted the BDC Honda rep whom I spoke to weeks ago and he apologized and said if their was any way I can go back to the dealership because he wanted to gain my business. I turned around mid way off the Exit on I-84 and drove 45 minutes back to the dealership. After 2 hrs of talking in person...again, at the dealership... they said they would only be able to discount the car by 300 bucks. Fine. I said I'll take the car and use my credit union. They said NO. The only way I would be able to purchase the car would be if I financed with them,(typically where the dealer makes money on the back end of the deal). I insisted that the credit union would give me the best rate. I left the dealership once again. Drove 45 min back home. During the evening hours I spoke to the BDC agent again and told him, I love car and that I would be wiling to finance with them. I filled out the pre approval and got approved online through the dealership with institution which I was told he would be sent to the finance office/manager and I never heard back. I called the manager and finance person numerous times and my phone calls weren't returned. I called a couple days later and spoke with manager, car was sold right underneath me. I did more work and due diligence then anyone at the dealership to make the actual deal happen. They don't disclose to customers that you have to finance the car with them to make a deal. Bad business, bad customer service, bad buying process. Finally spoke with manager and he said "sorry." Stay far away. I love Honda and have always purchase from a Honda different dealership but it just so happens that my home dealership didn't have the color combo I wanted in a 25 CPO. Bring back customer service and people who want to sell cars and enjoy the car selling process just as much as I love buying. I will be following up with Honda Corporate. Stay far away from the dealership, their are other great Honda Dealerships in Connecticut who are honest and transparent By far the worst buying experience ever. I've had 2 very positive experiences here! The first time I needed to fix my AC that was under warranty. I was able to get an appointment in less than a week & everything was repaired within a few hours. They're near a Starbucks & it was nice out so I walked there to wait until it was ready. I also got a valve adjustment & transmission fluid flush. Of course car maintenance is expensive, but it honestly wasn't as much as I thought it'd be at the dealership, it seems semi-competitively priced. The second time I came in I needed an oil change & my brakes looked at for a mysterious squeaking sound that Firestone tried to repair 3 times & failed. Took it to Honda once & it was done in a few hours. Turns out it was the brakes & Firestone just used cheap parts/misdiagnosed everything. I've learned I'll just go to the dealership from now on since it doesn't seem to be all that much more expensive than 3rd party auto shops & I'll happily pay even a couple extra hundred dollars to know that I'm getting original parts & service at a place that knows what they're doing to save me time in the long run. Jesse in the service department was extremely helpful both times & so was everyone else I interacted with at the dealership. We wound up here after our brand new CRV caught a flat on 91 heading back to NY. No appointment, but they took us in immediately and diagnosed a deceased tire. After a short wait (25 mins) for them to get a new tire from their supplier, we were back on the road. The waiting room had TV, coffee, vending snacks, USA Today, a pair of charging stations and three desks. Very comfy snd spacious. Not bad if you have to wait. I showed up as part of the Costco program. Receptionist called, a very young salesman named Josh to help. We sit down and before even understanding the model and specs he walks off to talk to a manager about pricing. I was interested in the numbers for financing and leasing a 2018 Honda Accord. I had bought two accord through the program before so I'm familiar with the process. When he comes back I info him I need the financing and lease pricing. He gets back and provides the numbers, he's missing the fact that I need 15k miles on the lease and didn't offer the money factor or the residual value of the vehicle. Again he goes back to get the complete information. At this point he has demonstrated a lack of competency to sell cars and clearly not providing clear and complete information upon which I could make a decision. It should be noted, Josh lack all enthusiasm. Then he goes into this whole, "will you buy a car today?" Why the heck you think I drove 45 minutes to get here? At that point I said no, because it was clear that while I will be buying a new 2018 accord, it sure as hell won't be from this dealer. I brought my car in for an oil change, the overall inspection was completed and I received a call saying my front brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. the advisor informed me that because the pads were so worn there was damage to the rotors and there was no way to just change the pads. The quote was $630 which I thought was very high, so I didnt get them done. I brought the vehicle to another shop to get a quote and have them replaced, After their inspection they showed me there was no damage to the rotors and there was no reason to switch them out at this time. THEY DO NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTIES 1. Purchased the rim protection. Tried to set up appointment to have rim repaired during a routine service. Was told the "rim guy" only works on Mondays. They could not get a hold of him. I told them I do not believe this will be able to be buffed out and was told when purchasing the warranty if it could not be buffed out that they would order new rim. I was told the rim guy would have to assess if he could buff it out before ordering new rim. Never got a hold of him or was contacted regarding fixing the rim. I tried again on an oil change which the service rep called three times during my visit and this mysterious rim guy never picked up. 2. I also purchased the paint protection warranty which I was told protects against chips from the road and other wear and tear damages with the finance manager jokingly saying " as long as your husband doesn't like key your car it should be covered". I received two thin 2 inch scratches from kicked up road work on 91. When I brought it in for brakes I asked about fixing the scratches and the older service rep pretty much laughed and said "that isn't covered it's down to the grey" 3. After refusing to honor either warranty, I have finally decided to take it to an auto detail place. They also told me the SIMONIZ which I had also purchased, definitely wasn't ever applied. 4. Routine appointments I have made for just an oil change have ran over an hour. While I was making payment my last visit there seemed to be a brawl about to happen in the service bay amongst the mechanics shouting profanities at each other. Not in a fun loving dirty humor sense. Like they were about to fight and made me feel uncomfortable. 5. When I had a flat tire I went to the dealership as they had not included my rim lock key in the purchase of the vehicle. I was told they didn't have the tire in supply and would need to purchase a rim lock key that wouldn't be available for a week. I was basically told I'd have to run my car on run flat for over a week until the finance manager told them to give me the dealership's rim key for my car and had to take it to another shop to fix my tire. All in all I'm out over $5k because of the interest I paid on these warranties. NOTHING was done. I now have to spend more money to fix what they wouldn't honor. Purchasing the car was fun quick and easy but do not fall for any warranty add on and I don't advise using this service dept *UPDATE*. They lie on their website just to get you to come in. We drove 40 minutes each way in a snow storm to test drive a car. We had texted back and forth with their sales staff to make sure it was there, and they chose not to tell us that it has been marked up $8k over what the website listed. When we got there the salesman with whom we had been discussing that exact car could only offer that there was fine print on the website. Fearing the death of my car in the morning and the possibility of running late for work from the subzero temperatures we've had in the last few weeks, I decided to get a new battery here. Good thing too because after whipping out the voltmeter, I measured and realized I've been running at 12 volts for about a week! Ultimately I went in for a new battery and express oil and filter change. Both were $50 and $10 less when compared to other Honda dealerships. Though they don't have nearly as many advisers as Manchester or Liberty, service was quick and personable. Waiting area is small but the free-wifi, bottled water, and coffee make up for that. What I like most about Lia is that the express service, car wash and inspection usually are between 30-45 minutes. On Saturday, 9/30/17 I tried to get information about leasing a 2017 CR-V from Lia in Enfield, CT and they would not give me their best numbers, even though I had leased 4 CR-Vs from them in the past. They told me that I "Sold Them Out" because I leased my previous CR-V from Liberty Honda in Hartford. At that time I told Lia where I needed to be for a monthly payment and they could not meet it, so Liberty offered me a 2014 instead of the 2015 Lia offered at the monthly payment I wanted to be at. Lia never offered to lease me a 2014 CR-V at the same rate, so as a good consumer I leased from Liberty. I have never been treated like this by any dealer and would expect it from a dealer that I had leased from in the past. I highly recommend Liberty Honda in Hartford over Lia. The Lia salesman was friendly, the Sales Manager was not! My experience with Lia Honda started on a bad note with having issues getting my referral awards to my most recent experience with them telling me my car air conditioning unit needed a compressor replacement when it actually needed a hose replaced on the unit. Added to my dissatisfaction was that the car had just come off of warranty and they showed no understanding to my frustration of having something major go wrong on a car with less than 30k miles. Plus, they never logged my visit into the central computer tracking system, instead of getting a detailed accounting of the proposed repair, I actually got an estimate of cost on a sticky note! I ended up having my car repaired at Liberty Honda where I had purchased my first CRV where I was treated with understanding and great customer service, my service rep went the extra mile for me on both visits. Lia will not be getting my business again. All they care about is $$$$$, not you the customer and your concerns. I am sorry to share that me and my wife didn't have a pleasant experience at Lia Honda location at Enfield, CT. We have been looking for a pre-owned Honda CR-V 2018 and have visited several local dealerships. We saw a pre-owned Honda CR-V at Lia Honda at Enfield and called to make sure it was available. We drove for almost an hour to this location and we met a salesperson named Mr. Troy. Mr. Troy has a flat affect and doesn't seem too motivated. However, we took a test drive and liked the car. When we sat down and asked to negotiate the price, Mr. Troy told us that the listed price is firm and made sarcastic comments for even asking for a better price. As I explained that we were hoping to get it at a better price possibly a thousand lesser than it is listed, he seemed upset and said, "Ok, we are done here". He then pretended to do some other stuff and completely ignored us. Me and my wife felt that it was very disrespectful of him. He could have disagreed politely. It was quite an unusual experience as every dealership we had visited so far have some wiggle room for price nogotiation. We left disappointed and in some ways insulted. Later in the afternoon, he sent us a text, offering the vehicle for $1000 less, the price that we were willing to pay. However, because of his attitude and way we were treated, we didn't want to deal with him/dealership anymore. If you like a bait-and-switch on prices, you will LOVE Lia Honda. My girlfriend went in 2 days in a row to look at the same car. On both occasions, she was quoted a price that she felt was good for the certified used car that she had looked at. Before leaving on the second day, the price of the car had magically increased by $1880. This was in the same visit when she was quoted a lower price. She didn't even realize that the price had increased until she looked at the sales paperwork at home. She was cheerfully refunded her deposit afterwards. No attempt was made to honor the lower price. No attempt was made to meet in the middle. Just one price verbally, and another on paper in the same visit. Thanks, but no thanks. I bought my civic in "11 and the service was impeccable. Fast forward to 2019.... everything has gone all the way down. I'm not sure why they have appointments, because you have to wait just as long if not longer for your service. I waited almost 20 mins to simply be seen AFTER I scheduled my appointment. With not even a "sorry for the wait". Melissa, used to have this place running in good shape. Since she and a few others have departed it's been horrible. Do not recommend going to this dealership for maintenance, they tampered with the AC compressor to make an issue to get my wife to think she needed to go back in to fix a problem. they tired to say my wife needed an ac compressor and that it was leaking. Then to add onto it they claimed on the receipt that she complained about the car blowing warm air. Now there is no issue with the AC and there is no leak until she leaves now the car is blowing warm air and they said they recharged the AC compressor and that it may not last long, its disgusting that they hire dishonest people that try to take advantage of a woman and trying to get her to pay $3,000 when there is no issue or complaints. All she did was go to get the oil change because I'm in the marine corps and not home to change it for her. Again do not get maintenance done here. I've worked on cars as a mechanic and have a lot of experience with them and I can verify that the AC compressor was operating as it should until she had her car serviced here. Now I'll have to take time away from my military leave to fix an issue that they caused. Thank you very much it's sad how they treat military spouses and military members. Now we also have two dog so now we have to worry about the AC because of the hot weather coming. read more

One star is too much. Looking to get into a 7 Passenger SUV my wife and I made an appointment for a test drive on my lunch break. When we arrived they said that the salesman that made the appointment had the day off and there was no record of an appointment. Really? She went to the back to speak to the Sales Manager and said he will be out shortly. As I stared at the sign that said "Honda #1 in customer service" for 10min, I began to question this. I then went back to reception and asked where was the Sales Manager and could I please speak with him. Another 10mins goes by...he never shows. She then informs me that all of the sales associates are busy and would I like to come back later or another day. Um no...I will go back to Audi/VW where my Q5 is up for lease and they roll out the red carpet and get treated with respect. Shoot, talk about an expensive headlight bulb swap... My passenger side bulb blew out again due to condensation and I had to get it changed out asap as nighttime visibility was pretty terrible. The staff here are all pretty friendly and helpful, but the prices were absurd. They charged me about 1.5x the retail cost of the bulb and another $20 to put the damn thing in. In the past, the dealer has just done it free of charge since it literally takes 5-10 minutes. Sigh, if only I had the tools and time to get this done myself. read more

I called ahead and made an appointment with Edwin to see the car I wanted, a 2010 Honda Element. Because they were discontinued in 2011 these cars are ridiculously difficult to find with low mileage. My appointment was made for 5pm. At 4:45pm I called again to confirm and let them know I was on my way. When I got there a different salesman greeted me at the door. I told him I was there for the Element and he mentioned that somebody was just looking at the car. Now, I understand the logistics of car sales and even though no other business would get away with operating the way that these places do, selling a car that I had already expressed interest in is moderately forgivable. What is NOT forgivable is the salesman's snide attitude and obnoxious willingness to cast the problem aside. He asked me if I wanted to check out the car. "We don't get these often so it's a great find!" I responded that I wanted to know if somebody else was buying it first. He left to find out. When he came back he told me to come over to his desk and sit down. Since all I wanted was a straightforward answer about this particular car I found this behavior extremely frustrating. Apparently the couple looking at the car had originally come in for a minivan... and other ridiculous details I didn't care about. He eventually told me that the car had been sold. I said there was no point in me being there then and turned to leave. His words? We can call you when we get another, we get them often! Since he just told me that they rarely get them and that this car with a great find, I knew he was completely full of it. I declined to disclose my information and left. So lesson learned: Don't trust Lia's salespeople to keep appointments. I will have my next Element shipped in from out of state. read more

I live in providence but have family in the Enfield area and always schedule service on my Civic whenever I'm in the area. Travis treats his customers like friends and is always honest and upfront. Feel like I need TWO reviews here, one for the service department, one for the sales. This review is for the service department. My sales review? Maybe someday. Overall a solid service experience. Not one that would drive me towards future purchases here, but quality work. The Good: Everything was fixed correctly (shocking on how often you get a car repaired and still have the same problem). Detailed invoice describing all work and parts along with cost, which I appreciate. No crazy claims or pressure to fix something that wasn't needed. The not so good: NOTE: Nothing in my experience was "shocking" or "horrible" or extreme. The cost of service was a little high IMO. Significantly higher than my local garage (who is ROCK solid), but when you don't want to make multiple trips, sometimes it's best to visit the dealer. Also the prices seemed on par with other dealerships (Jeep and Audi). The wait: Odd system, waited around 15 minutes to talk to someone when there was no one else waiting and two people at desks in the service area. One was engaged on the phone, the other working on paper-work I assume. They did acknowledge me though. Just took a while for what ended up being a 2 minute conversation. In conclusion I'd come back for Honda specific problems or services for my Pilot. If the wait hadn't been drawn out and the confusion of where to drive my car into (lane/garage) was cleared up, I'd have gone 4 stars. I have not experience the extreme problems others have and I have also used them off and on for both my Odyssey (2006) and Pilot (2015), a total of maybe 10 visits since '06. read more

I love my car, but the car buying experience with Lia was not great. They are a USAA approved dealer, but gave me grief about going through USAA for my financing instead of their preferred lenders. It took more than 2 weeks after I put down the deposit to complete the purchase of my car because of Lia's delays with the paperwork. The car was poorly detailed, I had to go back to pick up my second key because it was "missing" when I finally purchased the car, I was promised a cargo cover but never received it... Overall a pretty miserable car buying experience. I would have expected better as I even paid the sticker price! read more

I came in looking to purchase a used car they had on their lot (a different brand), but left with a Honda that I love. Having done my research, I felt I didn't have to haggle on the price, but I would always recommend you do your research ahead of time. I woke today and went to work and told my coworker's about my plans to go get an oil change at my regular spot where I usually get great service . So I met my wife at the dealership as usual and dropped both my vehicles off to get a customer supplied oil change as usual . I walked over to Costco as usual and while there I get a call from a service advisor stating that my oil plug needs time cert because the threads from my oil plug came out when they removed it . So I stated to her that the last oil change was done there . so the reason that I bring my vehicle to the dealership is because I would figure that they will be a little more responsible for the work that they do and stand behind. I was a service manager for 15 years at a reputable garage so when a young lady told me that the vehicle had a cross threaded drain plug and they were the last ones to do the oil change she says that overtime that that occurs so I've been driving cars for over close to 40 years and not one time have I ever had to replace a oil pan or drain plug because the threads came out when the vehicle was serviced this is the first time that it has ever happened and she and all the other service writers in the service area act like that happens all the time and I know that it doesn't. So long story short I will no longer be bringing my vehicles to this establishment and it's not that the money that she charged me the $208 for the re-tapping of our oil drain plug is the fact that they treated me like I didn't know exactly what was going on with the whole situation, and the customer service was horrible. All they had to do is look at the history of my service records there. I've been going to this establishment for the last 3 to 4 years with my vehicles I even recommended my brother to go there and he purchased a vehicle at this establishment, and I will be spreading the word that the Customer Service that I fell in love with in the first place is no longer at this establishment . They charged me $150 in labor to rethread my oil pan. The rude young lady named Ashley Theodore didn't even know what cross threading was when I explain to her that the last time I brought my car there they must have cross threaded the oil drain plug. She could've simply looked in my history and noticed that the last time the vehicle was service was on July 16 2022 and she was tactually the last service writer when I brought my vehicle there the last time in July . read more

I shopped 5 Hartford/Springfield area Honda dealers online looking for the best deal on a new Honda Accord Sport. I had scheduled an oil change for a Honda Pilot for 2:00 PM on Saturday, several day's in advance. When I arrived, and was checking in, I was told that I could make myself comfortable in the lounge. Then I was told it would be an hour and half for the oil change to be finished. Seriously, 90 minutes for a oil change. I then asked why so long if I had an appointment. The appointment was to get me in the door I was told. So, I left, and had it done for half the price. I'm not sure what a oil appointment gets you at Lia Honda. read more

Please do not waste your time or money going here, especially women. I am a women and they up charge you in things and lie about the work they do on your car. I have an old Honda Civic that was giving me issues. No one could figure out what was wrong so I bit the bullet and decided to take it to a Honda dealership to get it fixed, because you know, they're professionals and if anyone is going to do it correctly it's them right? Wrong. I spent over $2,000 fixing my car for it to completely shut off on my while driving less than a month after they fixed my car. I had another mechanic look at it and they doubted the work that this dealership did (after all they didn't even bolt the engine down correctly). I went back to the dealership to have them correct the issue for them to completely write me off and say that the diagnosis I was given by the other mechanic was wrong and that nothing would have caused my car to shut off. They completely ignored my issues and refused to correct their mistakes that could have seriously injured myself or other drivers on the road. read more

I just wanted to report a very disconcerting customer service at Lia Honda in Enfield, CT on Sunday 8/12/18. I hate to complain but have never experienced being treated so poorly before when trying to buy a car. I test drove and loved one of the HRVs. However our experience when sitting down with the saleswoman Mary went downhill from there. We had been upfront we had just started looking but that we loved the car and when she pushed if she could make a deal would we buy today. We said sure if the numbers worked. During our conversation Mary asked us if we had done any numbers beforehand and if we were actually using the numbers when we did our calculations, which I found to be rude but ignored since I was excited about the car. My husband and I were very disappointed when the saleswoman yelled at us during the deal that we were wasting her time when I wouldn't sign paperwork before they got us the interest rate, as she last minute said her finance people were gone after she had already bounced several different deals and interest rates on us- 1.9 percent then said oh I forgot that deal is over and then bounced to 4 percent and then said we will get what we qualify for and we should be happy with whatever that is unless we were hiding something on our credit report. I had merely wanted to wait till Monday to get all of the specific details in writing from your dealership before signing anything or giving any deposit. Mary then proceed to yell at us that she had been there all day and she certainly hoped we weren't wasting her time. We were ready to buy a car this week but it certainly will not be from this dealership. Providing your customer all the details they need should be a standard practice and being polite and professional in a customer service industry is so critical. My husband and I have never been treated so poorly when making a purchase like this before. This very uncharming woman certainly lost a sale from us this week and I can't say I would consider doing business with Lia again if this is the type of business practices they allow their salesman to use when selling vehicles. I certainly hope if nothing else someone will review the quality of Mary's work to possibly prevent her from treating other customers as we had been treated. My husband and I plan on calling the Better Business Bureau on Monday to report the bad business practices that seem to be employed at Lia. I certainly did not feel comfortable signing any paperwork before we had all the details and facts, especially when I felt so pressured that I shouldn't care about the interest rate. My husband and I have excellent credit scores in the 800s, we own two small companies and would never dream of treating anyone in this fashion. read more
