We do enjoy Libby's. We've been there 3 or 4 times - happy hour, lunch and dinner and each time was very good. Service was generally good, but a bit hit or miss sometimes. The menu is great, they have many gluten free items if that's your thing. Again, we've had drinks and appetizers at happy hour, a salad for lunch and full dinner meals. We never had a bad choice there. The inside seating is spacious and not at all crowded. The outside seating is nice a d covered, although it does overlook the parking lot. Not my cup of tea....no ambiance, too many tables crammed for maximum occupancy ...or so it felt...outside was not an option but that IS available. Eclectic menu with some interesting slonding eats. The small plate Salmon Bruchetta was good but nothing special, We ordered the Orange chicken and Dr Pepper Ribs...the OC was tasty...the rack (glazed) seemed on the dry side...even though it was so tender it fell off the bone. Happy hour drinks until 6...beer and wine...is good to know. Two "memorable" things? Our server Carlos...he knew his menu, was patient and attentive...4.5 stars for him! Seems like the quality of food is going down over the past year or so. Libby's has been our go to restaurant ever since they opened in Lakewood Ranch. The service is good and ambiance is what you'd expect from a sports bar. When they opened they had the best fish and chips in town. Someone said it was sea bass. A year later it was made with cod. Last week it was fish chunks with heavy breading. My wife's favorite Santa Fe Salad has also seen modification but not in a good way. Our hope is that Libby's takes note and reviews their menu! read more

Picking up a simple to go order, kitchen was running late. No big deal. One of the three (?) high schoolers at the host desk mentioned the order was "waiting on a couple items" in the on-deck area and "would be up in a minute". Fifteen minutes later, order still sitting on the table. The three high schoolers never bothered to come back or check as they sat texting on their phones. Finally, a manager noticed the order and brought it out -- without any additions! The order had been ready the whole time, getting colder every minute. I want to thank Alejandro (a rock star) for his sincerity in trying to resolve the issue, but the incredibly poor service from these careless hosts, texting on their phones with nothing to do, leaves an incredibly sour taste in my mouth. read more

I had heard many great things about Libby's so I was happy that I finally got to check out what all the buzz was about. My friend had planned a birthday brunch here and I was not disappointed. Our server, Jeremy, was very attentive and considerate. Bottomless mimosas (as of writing in June 2021 they were $10) were a fun addition to the and accompanied our brunch fare well. We never had to go long before our server stopped by and filled up our water and drink glasses promptly. I chose to get the Shrimp and Crab Cake Eggs Benedict and it was party in my mouth. Although I can be a crab cake snob and this had the addition of shrimp, I think the shrimp added a nice texture to this menu item. You have your choice of bacon or potato cake and I chose the latter. The potato cake was perfectly crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. We dined al fresco and it was such a pleasant and nice atmosphere for our gathering. Came into the Lorraine/University Libby's around two o'clock for lunch. Waited about 10 minutes at front hostess desk where no one addressed me until I flagged down an employee who sighed reluctantly and walked at a slowly measured lethargic pace to an available booth next to two loud males talking at a high rate of verbiage using profane disgusting language unimpeded by the busy diverse crowd of diners around them. They were oblivious to decorum and environmental civility/ manners and conduct. I put up with them for another 10 minutes waiting for service to arrive until I chose to get up and request a management staff member to assist me. He seemed flustered by my reasonable request, so I sought a seat at the bar instead hoping I could get service finally. At the bar, I I asked the server if I could get something to drink and she said someone would be with me soon, as she continued to stack barware/ glassware and wipe off counters while talking to a male seated at the bar near her. I waited another ten minutes without any service attention from any Libby's employee before I sought a management staff member. I told him my experience and said my experience was unprecedented, unacceptable and at the lowest level for such a nice clean establishment with a decent menu and location. I walked out to go to another nearby establishment which was amazing in comparison to this Libby's Lorraine/ University location on that sad day which will live in infamy. (Post note: Subsequently , we met two other former employees from that same Libby's location who added their knowledge of and experience with inconsistency in customer service and well run management operations.) We stumbled upon Libby's while in Lakewood Ranch area as we live in St Petersburg. We stopped in for dinner and I'm so happy we did. Server was polite, sense of humor and knowledgeable. Wine was fabulous, husband's drink was great. Brussels 10/10, my burger was fantastic and I'm a BIG burger eater, I get one if its on the menu. One of the best ones I've had in a long time. Husband had the chicken dish which was also very good, chicken portion and cooked nicely. Only bummer is we don't have a Libby's in St Pete but we will come back for special date nights. We celebrated Christmas dinner at Libbys. There were 9 people in our party. Our reservation was at 3:00 and we were promptly seated. Our waiter, Aaron, promptly took our drink order. We selected 4 appetizers and eventually ordered our entrees. Thinking it was getting a little long for the entrees to show, (4:30), but enjoying our time together we didn't give it a lot of thought. Then, the manager come over and apologized profusely that our order had been lost and they were rushing to get it completed and delivered quickly. He then gave us 5 $20 off coupons and allowed us to use 3 on this visit. It was so refreshing that an honest explanation was given and compensation was provided even though it was not necessary. Place looks cool, was hoping for a quick lunch. The service was painfully slow. There was definitely no shortage of staff either. Got there at 2pm one appetizer and Entrees at 2:05pm and didn't receive our food until 2:45pm. We had to cancel our appetizer knowing we would be able to eat it in time... This location has both great food and excellent customer service. I was super late to something earlier today and so I ordered online in advance. When I got to the restaurant there had been a mistake regarding the names of their online customers -- so there was some confusion and a brief delay. They resolved it very quickly. That said, I visited there yesterday and was very disappointed to see management allowing someone with a dog inside the dining room. This was not a properly identified service dog; this was someone's lap dog who didn't want to leave Sparky home. I asked two managers how this is allowed. One manager then walked over to the dog owner. The manager then walked passed me and I asked if he was allowing the dog to stay. The manager said they had paperwork that allows their dog inside shops, etc. I watched the entire exchange. No paperwork was exchanged. Unless they're legitimate service animals, dogs should not be allowed inside restaurants. read more

Hit this place up for brunch. It was busy and we didn't have a res but they sat out party of 6 at a high top bar table quickly. It was perfect. Service was smart and professional. Bottomless bloody mary was ok. It didn't blow me away but it was cheap and boozy. Those are the top boxes to check for brunch. Had Croque Madame. This is rarely executed well. Libby's nails it. Great ingredients. Perfect execution. I would order again and again. All other food in our party was good. Everyone was happy. Other notables: fries are cooked perfectly. Outstanding experience! Not my first time, and won't be my last. Alysia was our waitress, who was a joy to work with, attentive and so sweet! The meal was good, but I have to say the Crabby Patty was more filler than crab or shrimp. The flourless chocolate cake is the best I've had in the area. We come to Libby's in downtown Sarasota regularly. The atmosphere is nice and the service is good. The drinks are excellent! I like their Margaritas and my husband likes their Old fashioned. The pork chop is especially good and everything is well made. Recommend! read more

The place is nice and very well decorated but we came on a double date here and all four of us have agreed; for the price, we are better off going elsewhere. It misses the mark on the consistency of quality and level of service. For instance, the champagne came in a glass with ice and a straw...maybe that should've been our first red flag. We ordered the Brussels, wedge salad, dynamite shrimp, french onion soup, and avocado egg rolls to share. They were all okay. The french onion soup had an unconventional presentation and the wedge salad came out on an impossibly tiny oval dish so you'd have to move it onto a plate to slice it apart in order to eat it. For entrees we ordered shrimp scampi, reserve rib eye, Krabby patty, and chicken club. All were okay. Portions were moderate, and the sandwiches were fine if not a bit dry. Unfortunately I forgot to photograph our food, but they plated everything nicely, and the presentation, I thought was very clean. read more
