This humble deli serves what at this point I have determined to be the best in the city, and at a wonderfully low price point (around $5 on my last visit a few months back. Thin, well done to the point of crispy layers of pork roll interspersed with hard scrambled eggs and layers of American cheese between a kaiser roll in a manner quite similar to your favorite local bodegas bec back across the Hudson befitting the cities deep ties with NYC. The sandwich is compact tight and just the perfect amount of filling, leaving you satisfied and satiated enough to start your day but not so stuffed that you're already ready for a nap. Grab one to go and eat it on the run or, should you have some time to kill and the weather is pleasant take the short walk though the lovely brownstone blessed neighborhood to the nearby leafy and serene Van Vorst park and soak up the atmosphere while enjoying the salty goodness.

The one with pesto, chicken cutlet, and tomato packed a ton of sharp garlic flavor in every bite, while the basic chicken parm with cheese was also delicious. Sandwiches are gargantuan--one easily feeds two hungry people. I would recommend going there if you have transportation (I did not) because they arrived a bit cold and very late on UberEats (but I don't fault the restaurant for any of that).

I ordered their Cold Sandwich #4 via Grubhub and I appreciate that their prices are the same as their website. The chicken cutlet is nicely seasoned and has a good thickness. It does get slightly overtaken by the mozzarella simply because of the size of it. The seeded semolina was soft, slightly chewy, but mostly fresh. I absolutely loved the chipotle mayo and cold crispness of the lettuce and fresh tomato that brightened each bite. I know this is a cold sandwich but I would honestly prefer it if the chicken cutlet and semolina bread was warm. They had other sandwiches that caught my eye, so I'll just have to go back soon. Good try!

And the prices are closer to Sweetgreen than JustSalad, which is fine. But the macros looked solid and it's close to Base, so I was on the fence. One of the staff was kind enough to chat me through the menu and our nutrition plans, so I told myself I would give it a shot. It greatly exceeded my expectations. Think back to before Panera sold out to Corporate cost-minimizing, it was even notably better than that. The spicy calabrian caesar is simply a perfect lunch. The lettuce was crisp, the chicken was fresh, the chilis were thin-sliced and pickled to add a more delicate heat and acidity, the parmesan is shaved reggiano to add a bold cheesy bite that can stand up to the spicy caesar dressing. And I had crispy shallots and quinoa on mine, which was excellent. Even the croutons were fresh. I read a little online and it's clear by the attention to the food and the community fundraising / philanthropy that these are owners that are looking to invest in the neighborhood and the community, not checking some excel spreadsheet on their phone from a resort in Italy (looking at you, Panera. Nobody made you sell out). What a fantastic experience. I'm about to move about a mile away, and after writing this review I'm going to grab a pair of running shoes so I can continue to stop by after workouts. I could use the cardio anyway.

The chef preparing the food here makes up the ingredients to the dishes as he goes, with little concern over what's actually supposed to go into them. For folks with food allergies, BEWARE. We got the Daytona chicken wrap - listed ingredients are buffalo/bbq sauce, grilled chicken, romaine, grilled onions, ranch. The wrap was made with raw, red onions and also chunks of tomatoes. We also ordered the GTK Mac & Cheese - smoked gouda, fontina, mozzarella, cheddar, parmesan, crusted in panko. Ours had no panko on it. Also was a small portion for $12. Finally, the buffalo grilled chicken Caesar wrap - I think this was prepared properly. Both my prior orders were the traditional grilled chicken Caesar and I know now I strongly prefer the traditional more. While the owner Andrew was very responsive and immediately resolved the situation by refunding some of the items, I have zero confidence that any future order I place here will be fulfilled properly.
