Nice family run business, they stock a wide array of things for a small convenience store. Saves me a lot of trips for last minute things.

I love old general stores like this. The old wood planks give this place so much character, and…read morejust imagine the stores those walls could tell if they talked! The general store itself carries a wide variety of items from food, to pet essentials, to ice cream, to crayons and pvc pipes. If you need it, chances are you will at least find some kind of compromise. While shopping I experienced a wonderful surprise when the sweetest kitty came walking up to me. I was curious if he was a cradling kitty, lap kitty, or only touch me when I want to be touched kind of kitty. If you're a cat or animal person, you know exactly what I mean. To my extreme delight she allowed me to pick her up and walk around the store with her. Her purring was so loud you could probably hear it on the other side of the store. Samsung made my heart so happy that day! Come for what you need, and stay to give this sweet girl love! You will not be sorry.

Okay, I may be biased because of the kitty but having visited a handful of remote areas, I've…read morelearned to appreciate the essentiality of the general store. They're stores that "generally sell all the things". This shop definitely achieves that. The day before, we were hoping to go to a grocery store but of course there aren't any. We happened upon a "market" which was nothing more than a gas station mini mart that didn't carry much at all. I had lectured my cousin at that point that the place to pick is always the General Store. One day later, we came here. It was a bit musky and run down looking, but the lady working there was super nice and the shop itself had TONS OF STUFF. Need pvc piping? This is your spot! Need random fishing supplies, you can get that here! Missing your pet cat at home? Come here and meet Samsung and make up for lost cuddles! Okay okay, in all seriousness though, we came here for a resupply on foods. We were able to purchase ground beef, pasta sauces and organic pasta! There was also a huge selection of ice cream and ice cream bars too. Not too much for the vegans, but that's to be expected. HOWEVER there were two instant noodles that were vegan/vegetarian-friendly, which was more than enough to make me happy. I didn't buy anything but was thoroughly impressed with my exploration of their curation of "general offerings". There were hatchets, ice scrapers, mops, cleaning supplies, random souvenirs and pretty much anything you can think of that you might need to get when staying in a cabin for a few days. One bummer was they sold out of eggs, but at least they carry them! Did I mention you need to visit because of the kitty? She's the cutest and had an adorable bed set up in one of the aisles. Sorry I didn't get a pic of it but just look at the kitty, Samsung!

My family and I had one of the most absurd and frustrating grocery store experiences I've ever seen…read moreat Blanton's Grocery Store. My aunt (44) and uncle were using the self-checkout and bought a case of beer. Instead of simply checking the ID of the person purchasing the alcohol, the employee demanded to see the ID of everyone standing anywhere nearby. My aunt, who is clearly well over 21, was forced to show ID even though she wasn't the one paying. Then my sister (24) and her boyfriend (32) were also told they had to show ID just for standing nearby. They actually had to walk all the way back outside to their vehicle just to grab their IDs to satisfy this ridiculous demand. The part that really pushed things over the edge is that my sister's boyfriend is a U.S. veteran who was injured while serving our country. It's incredibly ironic that someone can be 18 years old and old enough to enlist, risk their life, and serve the United States, but this same person gets treated like a criminal and harassed in a grocery store just to prove they're over 21 while standing next to family members buying groceries. And somehow the situation still got more ridiculous. I was standing by the doorway waiting for my family and I was also asked for ID, despite not even being part of the transaction. Every single person involved was clearly and obviously over 21. This didn't feel like someone responsibly following policy. It felt like a teller on a complete power trip who decided to make things difficult for absolutely no reason. I've worked in customer service and hospitality for over 8 years, including time in a grocery store, so I understand alcohol laws and regulations. Verifying the purchaser's age is standard practice. But demanding ID from every adult in the general vicinity, even someone standing by the door, is beyond excessive and completely unnecessary. The irony is we walked across the street to the gas station afterward and had zero issues. Blanton's managed to turn a simple grocery stop into an unnecessarily hostile experience. If this is how management chooses to treat customers, don't be surprised when people take their business elsewhere.

This grocery shares space with an Ace Hardware and that in oneself is charming, but walk around and check out the inventory. Starting from the front of the market, they had a banana pudding flavored Appalachian moonshine in a mason jar, right next to another one that tastes like Eggo waffles. That's crazy. They have small packs of antipasto to go in case you want to have a small picnic on your drive. They serve their hot food on slabs of granite charcuterie boards which shoes that they're trying hard. The cake case has cool cakes you wouldn't expect, including a single slice of mango cake that must have weighed a couple of pounds. They serve their pre-made cold sandwiches on ciabatta or large biscuits. They sold tins of tea in cylinders with windows on them so you could see the mix of tea ingredients. Plus they had some cool stickers on sale on a rack and that's my jam. What a cool, curated inventory. Who is the buyer here? Because Bravo!! I will be back because this place isn't just a fun place to grab a snack- it should be a local foodie destination.

I spent roughly $300 a week on groceries conservatively speaking. The pricing of the products are higher in the Summer and tourist season. This sucks for the locals but it is common with all businesses in Ocean Shores. I recommend shopping at Costco for your staples before going on vacation in Ocean Shores. It's not uncommon to pay almost $10 for a bag of chips. Just a warning. The service is a hit or miss depending on the time of day and season. The staff can get tired of tourists and not be as friendly. The selection is limited due to the remote location of Ocean Shores. This means if you are looking for special ethnic foods and vegetables, you maybe out of luck. Bring these items from home. I am SE Asian and the selection was lacking as far as fresh herbs and greens go. I was missing many sauces over the years for stir fry like sesame seed oil, hunan, and chili oil. I drove to Olympia for Jasmine rice purchased 100lbs at a time. The deli is pricey but there is only one McDonalds in town and no other fast food options. Most the restauarants are $20 or more per entree. Hence the deli fried chicken and warn foods will look less expensive. The JoJos friend chicken is popular along with the potatoes wedges.
