Recent customer experience with Liberty was generally favorable, but interesting to say the least. Dealership has clean, bright salesroom, extensive lot inventory. Jordan, Hunter, Bill, Anthony, were all friendly and helpful during the process. We were treated with transparency, kindness and respect throughout the transaction. We are long-time Mazda owners, thus have been through the process repeatedly over the years. We decided it made sense to take advantage of the .9% financing offered on the CX-50s due to inventory gluts. The sticker was almost 6% below MSRP, which seemed quite reasonable. The CX-50 we wanted was on the lot, and preliminary conversations took place. We also qualified for a Loyalty discount for having other Mazdas in the household. The sales personnel recommended the VIN etching, were certainly not pushy about the add-on, which is actually 3rd party coverage against vehicle theft. Subsequent test drive was without incident, and we were accompanied by hospitality staff who explained all pertinent features. We arrived on delivery date, cashier's check in hand. The paperwork process started, and we were taken to the vehicle at the curb to pair cellphone and modify some of default vehicle settings and connect to ethe Mazda App. It was at this point we realized we were presented with the wrong vehicle. Same model / color, but lower trim. We were absolutely vexed as to how this could happen. We were quickly ushered back to the sales offices, where we waited awkwardly over an hour for the correct vehicle to be detailed and prepped. We received a cursory apology and zero concessions for this flagrant inconvenience. Eventually, the correct purchased vehicle was at the curb, and the pairing process was repeated. Salesman at this time remarked that the vehicle did come with a NAV SD card; this after ordering OEM card on our own after being advised the vehicles contain the navigation firmware only during initial conversations. Finally we were on our way, and I realized I had forgotten to get clarity on the dealer prep "detail process" as we had experience with brand new vehicles having 'swirl marks' from improper waxing techniques in the service bay. I was looking to clay bar the finish, and I emailed the finance manager the following day, who was an avid car enthusiast. No response whatsoever. Thankfully, no swirl marks were noted in the following day's sunlight. Would we buy from this dealer again? Probably - if inventory and price-points coincide with favorable interest rate incentives. read more

My sales advisor, Alex, was extremely knowledgeable, explained everything about the vehicles, service, financing options, in clear, simple terms. I was introduced to the service department personnel. Nothing was rushed, it was sincerely an enjoyable car buying experience. I wound up purchasing a new 2026 Mazda 3 sedan. I've now had my car for a month, and I made the right decision. My car is so much fun to drive. Oh, I even went back to the dealership 2 more times to get Alex to go over details of the screen with me, since I was confused how to fully use it. In 2015 I purchased a new Mazda 3 hatchback. My first car was a 1964 VW. and have had a variety of different cars since then. I laughingly tell people my father didn't realize I was a girl until my brother was born when I was 10yrs old. He always had me helping him in garage to work on the family cars. The benefits of this was that while not even close to being a mechanic I do know when they are trying to blow smoke. I quickly learned to stay away from dealerships for mechanical work. In 2015 I purchased a Mazda 3 from Liberty Mazda. I still runs like new! and that is where I have my car serviced. Today I was leaving CT for Montana and decided to go by and ask if they could di a quick check on fluids and tire pressure. They were happy to do this for me. I'm so glad that I stopped in. Last night I packed my car and put some dogfood in the back for my dog. I was asked if I knew why there would be dogfood in the engine area. Apparently the little rascals had move an about of food and in addition chew on several components there were vital to the safe operation of my car. They repaired what they could and order another park to be shipped the tomorrow morning. They even had a $90.00 coupon that was applied to my bill today! I was really in a bind... My rear shock basically disintegrated, but I was able to drive to the service department at Liberty Mazda in Hartford, CT. I showed up with no appointment and the technician told me they were booked solid for the day. However, they were able to fit me in to at least inspect my car. They had to order parts, which would take a day to receive. They offered me a complimentary Lyft service to my home. Luckily a loaner became available and they Lyfted me back to Liberty Mazda to receive it. They fixed my car the next day. I bought my car here four years ago and have been coming back here and there for various maintenance (and recall) items. I never feel pushed around, and they do a lot of diagnostics. They also take the time to explain things when I ask for a little bit more detail or what the fix really does for my car. The people who work here are nice. Also, mad props for a really clean and easy spot to do some work while waiting for my car. Internet is fast, and the area is great for doing work. There's also an area with a TV if that's your jam. read more

This review is for the used car sales department. Absolutely horrible!!! Everything you dread about a used car salesman and then some. Kept trying to avoid answering simple questions, making weird stuff up (like I need to show my manager your credit card so he knows you are serious) and changing what was included (first they said floor mats were included, then they claimed they never said that). Lots of "wait here, I need to talk to my manager". In the end they refused to fix an electrical component that we discovered was broken despite their "150 point inspection". JUST STAY AWAY read more

I purchased a new Mazda CX-9 in 2012 from Liberty Mazda in Hartford and traded the vehicle in for a new car a few months ago. During the entire 12 years I owned the CX-9, I brought the vehicle into their service dept. for check-ups and repairs. I rate the service dept. at this dealership as excellent. When I arrived for my easily scheduled service, I was immediately greeted by a rep. who helped me check in, noting any concerns about the vehicle. I've dealt with every service rep and the manager at this dealership over the years, and they were all very friendly and professional. I usually waited for the vehicle in their comfortable waiting area, as they gave me updates on the status of the repair(s). Occasionally, they told me they would need more time to complete certain repairs and quickly arranged a loaner vehicle for me. On other occasions, they helped me with the warranty company or arranged for me to receive a less expensive part for my aging vehicle. I recently went through my first car accident, someone turned in front of me in my brand new 2021 Mazda CX-5. In the shop for months, the car was declared totaled. This service center is the best. They've always addressed each of my concerns attentively and kindly. The staff knows who you are when you drive into the service bay and greets you expeditiously. The work is done as requested, videos are texted by the tech to each customer before any work is completed, costs approved up front. Went looking for a suv and Mazda was highly rated and called Liberty Mazda about a ttedt drive as I was deciding between the cx5 and the cx9. With the car shortage they went out their way and found they had a 2021 cx5 and a 2020 cx9. I chose the cx5 and they exactly what I wanted that had just been put on a boat. Major thanks to Liberty Mazda, specifically Jason Nye. I've had the displeasure of having to buy a few cars over the last 5 years, and this dealership was the only one who didn't leave me wanting to pull my hair out and scream. If nothing else, I highly recommend them for their easy going nature, no pressure sales. I think I could have asked to test drive every single car in every model, and they wouldn't have cared. I ended up with the CX5 Touring and while there were a few levels higher, it was easily made clear I didn't need the extras available in them, and was not pressured to "level climb" AT ALL. Jason was 100% focused on what I needed, what options made the most sense for what I actually was going to use the car for, and got me numbers that made sense for my budget. To note - I went to two other Mazda dealerships - the Hamden one which was ultra pushy and super aggressive (we're talking several phone calls a day to "follow up" despite telling them I was waiting for insurance checks to clear.) The rep I spoke to in Hamden told me they might not have my car in 2 weeks when my insurance checks cleared... you mean the most common make and model that your website claims you have 17 of currently? Yeah.... I better rush. The Manchester dealership had fantastic salesman, but the finance guy was extremely pushy and basically dealt me the same hand as Hamden -- my car would disappear if I didn't apply and lock it in today. Needless to say, I wasn't buying the car or the BS. I am so happy and completed relived to be in an amazing car. Hopefully it will last til my midlife crisis, then I'll be back for a Miata. This was the best car buying experience I've ever had. Christina, both Jasons, Rick and the team were just genuinely good people, and you could feel that the whole time. No cons, no hustles, no pressure, no haggling. Just total transparency about fees and prices and the space for us to make the right decision. Christina let me see and test drive the cars I had wanted to see, then gave me tons of time and space to just think it over with my wife without her standing over my shoulder. They also had a nice area for our toddler daughter to play while we waited, which was appreciated. After we made the decision to get a great Mazda 3, Jason in service went out of his way to clean it up for us and address our requests, and Jason in product specialty hung out with me for 10 minutes after the sale just because he was excited for us and wanted to talk about all the cool features in the car. Shannon at Liberty Mazda went above and beyond to get me into a service slot for my new car. I recently bought the car in Long Island and had to schedule an appointment because my nav wasn't working. It seems that the dealership I had brought it from inserted the SD card backwards. The service department found this issue, took a video of it and texted me video of it. Having just bought the car and having a terrible experience doing so (Eagle Mazda in Long Island and previously Modern Mazda in Torrington) I had some concerns. Shannon, in the service department, is so friendly and is always honest about what's going on with my car. The constant attention to detail, present pandemic disinfecting, their customer loyalty coupons, follow-up and considerate repair or update suggestions are by far the most in line with astute car ownership's responsibilities to be safe on the road. Never have I been pushed into any work I did not want completed, the service manager and service staff are always welcoming and proactive in communicating service status during the process and in explaining the what/how/why of suggested replacements or repairs. You receive a video with audio explanation from the tech which includes a full vehicle walk about when it's up on the lift. While the car wash is often 'broken', the staff welcomes Liberty Mazda owners to stop by at another time and have it run through the wash. Rude.... Very rude.... I walked in to buy a 2013 Mazda 6 and the guy who took on test ride was good. He explained everything well. But the problem started when I looked in to buying 2014 Mazda 6. I checked the carfax report on 25 of June and it was clean. On 27 of June when I went to buy the car, I asked for a carfax report for my records and after half of the paper work is done, they give me carfax report that has an accident on it. And the accident was reported on 23 of June when the sales guy was using it for personal use. And, when I ask sales guy, he says accidents could happen anytime anywhere and I can't give a good explanation for that. The next day after I bought the car I went to pick up my license plates and the sales guy questions the review I posted on their website and he says he wish I didn't buy a car with them. I seriously wish no one buys car from him at least. Very rude guy. All he talks is money. And he blames one of his subordinates for everything happened. And, they tried to sell me vin glass etching for $299, saying it was mandatory and everyone gets it. I know it was not mandatory and when I questioned about it they tried to change the topic soon. I settled for a 2.0 2013 hatchback Mazda 3 when I actually wanted a 2012 Mazda 3,2.5.sedan.I test drove the 12 and noticed the salesman texting in the back seat.The salesman said the extra 40 horse power didn't make a difference(yea right)and the 2013 was a better deal.I was also told it was so cold that day not to worry about test driving it.The financing crew were alright but made a simple car loan seem like a closing on a house. After all was said and done the salesman put me in the car and told me to read the manual to figure out how to use the features.However he did pre-set the radio to some awful station. Was shopping for CX-5, and when you know how difficult and stressful it is to deal with dealership, you know how great it is to be taken care by a great sales person. For the first time I walked in, Mr. Jason Nye, took care of me with no pressure, taking the time to answer all my questions, printing me clear and detailed sales offers for financing and leasing, and for the first time in my experience, was trustworthy! Went several times to meet him for questions, until the time we were going to sign for lease. Provided him with all requested necessary documents and information the evening before. On May 30th, 2018, after 3 hours spent with him with all paperwork's, we had to wait for his Financial Manager Nick, who was supposedly too busy in assisting other clients, when his office was empty. Jason could not even have an appointment schedule from this "busy" person. He asked me to pay half of the deposit to "hold the car for me", and charged my credit card. Therefore, he asked me to come the next day, May 31st, in confirming that Nick would call me to set up an appointment, and to confirm me the credit approval and monthly payments amount. Waited until 1:40PM to contact Jason because I have not received any feedback from anyone. Around 2:00PM, Jason texted me back in apologizing that he was assisting clients, but no information regarding appointment, credit approval or anything related to the lease offer. Only because the Financial Manager is again too "busy" and "so well organized" that he cannot delivered. Explained to Jason, that if they are not interested by my potential account, it will force me to seek for another dealer offer in order to not lose the benefit of 0% interest financing/lease special May sales. At 3:00PM, just a quick text to let me know I was approved for the amount, but no appointment still... After many back and forth with several Mazda dealerships, I accepted another offer to get my car ready that evening at the last minute! Texted back to Jason to express my disappointment about his Financial Manager and the General Manager of this dealership, who both let him down and made him lose the sale. Also requested to be refunded of my deposit charged on my credit card. As of June 4th, no news about either my refund, or a call from any Manager to apologize or anything else. So, I called to speak with Mr. Mark Altieri who is registered on BBB as General Manager, but no one as his phone or can transfer my call... Called 4 times to be transferred on voicemail, so asked to General Manager to call me back, and left them all information needed to understand the situation. Mr. Chris Evans, General Manager called me back, but had no information about the situation. Expressed my disappointment about the way his dealership is operated, his Financial Manager who did not delivered, how it is a shame to not support and provide resources to his great sales persons to close sales, and claimed for my refund. He asked my credit card number again, because he claimed no one will have it and it is the only way I could receive my refund... wonder what they do with card receipts after you pay, and may be they do have a shoe box accounting records systems! He also told me not to be worry about his management style... Provided him with my card information, and he claimed I will be refunded same day. He told me that he would talk with his Financial Manager to understand the situation, but I advised him to talk with Mr. Jason Nye who lost the sale because of Financial Manager. I feel very sorry for Jason because, from the beginning to the end of the process during my 4 visits, he offered me a great service and beyond expectations compared to all dealerships from several brands I went to for months for car shopping. He was a trustworthy sales persons (which is very rare) with a consultant approach, very patient with me in explaining in details all my questions, and professional. Even this dealership is 1 hour drive from where I live, I really wanted to close the sales with him. In Summary, I would not recommend this dealership if you don't have the time to be lied around, and have to wait for the Financial Manager to deign to do his job professionally. Come to find out I had a pre-existing issue with all my tires on my vehicle which I have had already for a year and having put 10K miles on them. 2 short emails and a phone call and Jason had me in there ASAP, gave me a loaner and took care of my car, made the whole situation correct and without hesitation. After falling in love with the Mazda3 I started looking around for the best deal. I looked in Manchester, I looked online, I looked in Springfield, and finally I looked in Hartford. My car was an awesome deal, bursting with extras and oh-so enjoyable to drive. This dealership makes all the others look like amateur hour. Sure, there are the typical salesperson tricks. Charisma, charm, and "I need to run that by my manager in some unknown room in some unknown location". None of that will change. What's different is the cleanliness, the friendliness, and the details. Your experience is as important as your car's experience. Liberty Mazda excels is in their customer service. Call - get a live person. Want to speak to someone in maintenance? Pronto. Want your car looked at? They have times available ASAP. Your service trips include a bath for your buggy and a full service look-over for any additional needs. They're not pushy, but they will educate you about your car. It's a beautiful thing. Yes, there are cheaper mechanics near me, with varying degrees of expertise. It's not worth the risk. I'll keep going back to Liberty Mazda because I'm spoiled on their customer service, impressed with their professionalism, and the quality of their work. read more

Today I came to the Mazda dealership after receiving an email stating that I could trade my leased car in early for a new vehicle. After arriving at the dealership, it took a few minutes before we were approached and the man, very aloof, asked if we needed help. I explained that I currently was in a lease and received an email to trade in my car early. The gentleman took my name and said he was going to look up my information. After 15 minutes, he came back and his first comments included "I'm not sure why you came in" and "we are all tied up right now". I explained the email, again, as well as showed it to him on my phone. His response was "we wouldn't accept a trade in this early" and "I don't know why you got that email". My lease is up in December. I understand if this is too early however I am beyond disappointed with: a. The fact that I received an email regarding a trade in, if that isn't an option and b. The lack of customer service I was shown when I came into the dealership. I work in sales, I understand how busy it can be, especially on a holiday weekend, however I also understand the correct way to speak to a customer who has spent quite a bit of money at the dealership and is expecting quality sales consultants that at least pretend to care about the customer. To top the entire trip off, as we were leaving we noticed a table of car salesmen eating pizza and one was outside smoking a cigar. They all seemed extremely "tied up". Needless to say, I am very turned off by the Liberty Mazda dealership after today and more than likely will not return for my next vehicle. Along with that, I can guarantee I will not recommend this dealership to anyone who may ask about my Mazda. From the minute I sat down with the sales person I felt like I was being bullshitted. They go through a flip-chart which has zero substance and a whole lot of buzz words. They only had one of the four cars that they had advertised, on-line, on the lot. I was told the cars that were advertised as in stock would be in sometime later in the week. My compliments to the photographer who created the illusion that the 2007 Town Car with 48,000 miles at $8200.00 was an attractive bargain. After driving 140 miles roundtrip and examining the vehicle my disappointment was profound. The photographer omitted glaring visual deficiencies. Firstly, the body shop did a poor job trying to conceal two rust spots by painting over them . Secondly, the tires were in less than desirable condition. Thirdly, the rims were badly scratched. Fourthly, the headlight covers could not cover the heavy accumulation of moist. This problem alone would have caused the vehicle to fail inspection in Massachusetts. To remedy that problem would have cost about $350.00.The employees Adam and Jason were pleasant and professional. Allowing a vehicle in such a condition to be in inventory reflects poorly on the dealership. Credibility is a currency of every business and they failed to earn my confidence. There were many many bumps in the road when I purchased my pre-owned Kia Soul at Liberty Mazda but in the end, along with some diligence from the service department, I must say that I had a good experience buying my pre-owned Kia Soul there. I did come in with my own financing and, even though I advised him I was not interested in obtaining financing through them, I was surprised when the sales rep asked me to fill out a credit application for the file. I had to explain that there was no need for me to do that and, after several minuets with the finance department, the sales rep returned to tell me that they would not require that from me. That wasn't news to me and, had I been pressed further for it, I probably would have left and not returned. Another problem I had with the sales process was the VIN etching. Since they would not negotiate a lower price for the car, the finance department generously removed the seemingly mandatory VIN etching charge of $250.00. This charge is written boldly on the contract and it does not show as being an optional charge. The removal of it was presented as a concession by them in my attempts to lower the price. Once home, I did some research and did find that VIN etching is not mandatory, the "signing off" on the option to purchase it appears to be required but that does not mean that the etching itself is required. After a few days of having my car I noticed that the VIN number was already etched on my windows! After making my purchase and signing the contracts I was directed to someone in finance who was quite nice and gave an explanation of and quote for an extended warranty contract. My used vehicle came with a MFG warranty, reduced from 100k to 60k since I am the second owner so a service contract did seem like something of interest to me and was something I had not considered when shopping for a used car. The quoted price was an additional 2,500.00 spread out over the term of my loan. I estimate that I might exceed the additional miles of the warranty well before the life of my loan so for me it did not appear to be a good option. Had I researched the estimated cost for an warranty prior to my vehicle purchase and added that cost to my budget I might have had a better comparison with more options,,,,.my best guess is that putting the money into a better/newer/lower mileage vehicle rather then into a warranty that may never used probably would make more sense in terms of value. Once it was mine, I did have to return several times due to a problem with a reappearing engine light. Mostly having to do with the catalytic converter, I did find the service department to be quite nice. Although it took several attempts to fix it they were all very kind, pleasant and, with much diligence and with the assistance of Kia of Wallingford, successful in fixing it. read more

Just a great experience all-around. Adam took my call and then was able to move around my appointment when I needed to come in earlier. Christina greeted me when I arrived with a big smile and then Adam came out to meet me and this set the tone for the day. They are both very personable and accommodating. Nick D. was my salesman he was friendly, knowledgeable and had an ease about him that made me instantly comfortable. I already knew what I wanted, and this is my third Mazda so I am already very familiar with their great vehicles. This was my first SUV and Nick took the time to show me everything about the CX 5 that I was interested in. He addressed my concerns and came back with answers to all of my questions. When I picked up the CX 5 I wasn't happy with some glue or residue on one of the doors and Nick cleaned it off since the detail department had already left. I appreciate his dedication to making sure I was happy even after I had already signed the papers and the deal was done. I approve of the "best price" policy they have and I did research before I went in. I knew the value of my trade-in and when we started to talk price and money and they presented their offer to me it was very close what I was looking for. I never felt they were not being honest with me and the low-stress atmosphere is really wonderful. When it came time to sign all the paperwork and deal with the financials I was handed over to Chris Deluca who was great, positive guy. If you have ever gotten new vehicle you know the amount of paperwork involved. Chris made it almost fun. He explained any add-ons including key services, tire services etc., and I appreciate that he did not use any pressure or scare tactics to try to get me to purchase them. Very low pressure just like everything at the dealership. Everyone I dealt with, including the gentleman who evaluated my trade-in (so sorry I forgot your name), was upbeat and very genuine. When it comes time to get another Mazda I will be coming back here. It's easy for people who are unhappy to write a bad review and I believe it is important to detail my positive experiences with everyone at Liberty so that people can make informed choices when it comes to buying a new vehicle.
