I got a great car and great service. The only reason I am not going to five stars has nothing to do with the staff, but more so a policy of the dealership. They have a 20 minute presentation that explains their customers took a survey and the results were people don't like to negotiate. So, they do not negotiate on price and they come with their "best price" right out of the gate. I wonder if their survey asked customers if they like to listen to a 20 minute explanation on this matter. Personally, a vehicle is one of the largest investments a person can make and while I don't like haggling on many purchases in life, I'd prefer to negotiate on the big ones like a house or a car. Nonetheless, they had a make and model with the year and mileage I wanted and couldn't find anywhere else, so I had to agree to what felt like a greedy sales policy. My salesperson was very good (Ken Hicks) and the finance manager was also incredibly informative and kind. To the owners: yeah, you got the sale, but the sales approach/policies you put forth aren't the best, in my opinion. read more

I stopped by Liberty Mazda to test drive one of their crossover vehicles. The associate told us that he was going to find a vehicle and prepare it for test drive. We waited almost half an hour. There was no one else in the store. I liked the vehicle but was turned off by both the wait and the cursory overview of the vehicle that he provided. If this is the quality of service you get before they have your money, it will be next to impossible to get decent service once you've purchased the vehicle. read more

I'm actually not surprised by some of these reviews. I bought my Mazda back in 2010 everyone was super knowledgeable and it was great... Recently I had to bring in for services more than I would like too. Every Time I've gone in I had Jonathan help me, he's great he explains everything which makes it easier to understand the whole "car talk" everyone for the most part has been super friendly. There was one time I had come in and someone else had helped me and it was one the worst experiences I ever had at Mazda. They were so rude and disrespectful, raising their voices when I didn't understand what was wrong with my car.. So now every time I go in I make sure Jonathan is there so he can help me. The general manager is nice too, there's one service tech which I stay away from because he's just far from helpful. read more

I wish I could give a zero star review for Liberty Mazda. I have never been more disgusted in my life. I started experiencing issues after I had my Mazda serviced and had a suspicion that they did something wrong. Turns out they left the bolts that screw my strut to the chassis of my car extremely loose. Not only that but they loosened one of my tie rods so that the wheel would be straight. I could have been killed if I drove on it for longer. I tried calling their service department and the only thing they could say was, Sorry we make mistakes. Disgusting. read more

If there was an option to give a (-) negative star I would have. My experience with this dealership has been horrible. I haven't had the car two weeks and it was making noises, we saw there was an issues with the back lights (the car must have been in a fender bender and the sales person did not point that out to us) among a number of other issues. We contacted the sales person we originally dealt with who said they would schedule a service appointment for us, he never got back to me, so I called and scheduled it myself. We went up there, which is a 45 minute drive...they gave us a loaner car and sent us on our way, saying they would handle all of the "issues". They kept the car for three days and did NOTHING to the car. Every excuse in the world was givin as to why they could not fix anything. "Cars make noise"...that was what they told us, but if something happens...call us. The car has less than 30K on it, noises are coming from the calipers, the the CV joints, the car clicks and clacks when turning, backing up, parking...shall I continue? Even before this "service" issue we were insulted, pulling out of the lot with less than a half a tank of gas (no they did not fill it before sending us on our way), we got half way home and realized there was no windsheild wiper fluid, etc etc etc.. The was one nice young man in the service department, who desperately tried to help us and convince the service manager to fix the issues we had, as he recoginzed that there is something wrong with the car...but the manager said no and made the young man tell me so he didn't have to talk to me. read more

I'm surprised by lots of negative opinions on this place. First thing I want to say when reading a negative review, give it a go first. Don't let others' negative experience stop you from giving a place a chance. :] Anyway, I just purchased my first Mazda CX 5 from here. I'm very happy with the technology package and smart technology package as well. It took me less than an hour to decide whether or not I wanted to purchase this car. However, my experience with Liberty Mazda was great. I'm definitely will be recommending this place to anyone who is looking for a new car. My Mazda Salesperson name Laura Cowperthwaite is very friendly and funny person. She was very easy going and didn't make me feel very stupid or even get impatient with me when I asked her about the technology features during my test drive. She was very patient with me when I didn't have a CT License at the time because I just recently moved to CT from MA. Hahaha, she even assured me that my car will still be there when I pick it up on the day I get my CT License. Laura was also communicative with me through text, email, and phone as well. She understood that I work during the day, and would reach me by email or text, which is convenient to respond instead of by phone call. When I got there today, Laura introduced me to Kayla Escudero who showed me how to use the car's technology such as the navigation and the functions of the car. How many dealerships do you know who actually took the time to give you a crash course how to use your car and lets you ask questions or go over something again without rushing you? Not many. I learned a lot from Kayla. She made learning how to use the car functions fun and easy to remember. Also she showed me the manual and the short study guide what each symbol mean. Let me tell you, Mazda has the BEST short study guide that shows you what each symbol mean and it's in color instead of those traditional manual book that are so boring to read and doesn't get to the point. I forgot the name of the person who was scheduling for my oil change for January 2016. I asked him how could I figure out which battery do I need for my car alarm key. He showed me how to take it apart and put it back together. Then I met Hannah to go over the finance stuff. She was very patient as well when going through the options so that I understood it easier. Hahaha even if I had to repeat myself, she explains it an easier way. My dad was with me and spoke some broken English. She explained to him and didn't make him feel dumb for asking questions either, which I totally appreciate a lot. My experience with Liberty Mazda was really great. I never been to a car dealership that ACTUALLY took the time to explain the car functions and don't make you feel so dumb for asking questions. I really liked how Liberty Mazda have places for people to sit while waiting for their car to be fix. It's like a mini cafe inside there. It's very open space. Purchased a used 2017 in August of this year, Car was a great deal and it runs great. Unfortunately I discovered about a month after I took delivery that the tire jack was missing. My fault, I should have checked everything to be sure they didn't just check it off the list without actually looking. Brought in in for my first regular maintenance and was reprimanded by the service advisor for waited too long for the first service. Had to advise him that I bought it used with 6,000 miles already on it and I was right on schedule. read more

It did not come with an owner's manual, which probably should have tipped me off that the vehicle had a questionable history, but I liked Gary and had faith he would follow through. Now more than four months later, seven emails and one letter, nothing, not even a "we're looking into it." The point isn't the manual, I could buy one for 15 bucks, it's a matter of principle. If you care about being treated like a valued customer after you drive a car off the lot, avoid this place. This is a 2015 Mazda 3 which I purchased 3 months ago. Was driving on the New Jersey Turnpik tonight, all the sudden I heard boom, something exploded. Turned out to be the window on the driver side, then the glass was just shattering into small pieces and fell out of the car. We then parked on the side of the high way and I started to call the Mazda Roadside Assistant, after telling the lady my information and about what happened I told her I want to talk to the dealership where I bought my car first, because the dealership was about to close less than 45 minutes. I called the number from Liberty Mazda's website and told the operator that I want to talk to sales(because service was closed already). Then she transferred me to a store, the man who answered the phone was rude, he kept telling me that the dealership is about to close and he can do nothing, the earliest time he could get me a loaner is going to be Monday. I was not satisfied with his answer and mad with the nasty attitude. Finally he asked me who was the sales guy who sold me the car, I told him the name he said that person does not work for them. Then he realized I called the wrong Liberty Mazda location and can't wait just hanged up the phone. So I called again, finally this time I called the right number. A sales guy answered the phone. I told him that the dealership was on my way home, so I would like to drop off the car at the dealership and get a loaner. The reason was I don't have a garage and I don't feel comfortable leaving my car outside with a broken window. He was first insisting that no he can not help me, the dealership will be closing soon. I told him I don't want to be unreasonable but this is an emergency and it was not my fault(luckily I had a dashboard camera which recorded everything). Then he finally compromised and told me to drop the car off because they would have security at night and they can help me to move the car to the inside. However, I will not get a loaner. I told him no, because where I live is an hour away, how am I suppose to get home without a car. Then he handed the phone to a manager, after knowing what happened, he said even thought I drop the car off at the dealer it will still be parked outside, nobody will be there to help me move the car inside. What a contradictory statement! Then I asked him about the repair, without given it a thought he said Mazda warranty will not cover the glass, you should call the insurance company. Why in the world would I call my insurance company? It is an obvious manufactory defect. On a second thought service at Liberty Mazda helped me fixed that window in October because the noise it was made while I was driving. He tighten the window, maybe it was too tight? I'm writing this just to warn you don't purchase car from them. More than likely if something like this happened you will be treated just like this. They just care that they sold you a car, anything beyond that will be your own business. A simple question like "Are you ok? Did you hurt?" was not asked by either one of the three guys I talked tonight. Instead they just want to get off work on time and be done with it! I am telling all my friends and family to not buy car from Liberty Mazda. And personally I would never purchase a Mazda. read more

I always bring my Mazda5 here for routine service. They always squeeze me in if I show up last minute. The service advisors are polite and courteous, especially Donald. The prices are average, but I always get coupons, so in the end it's cheaper than having it done at a lube & go. They've never tried to pressure or sell me add-ons or unnecessary services. They have wi-fi, a nice waiting area as well as courtesy transportation. read more

My family is driving three vehicles purchased from this dealership and I used to always bring them in for service. They always had great deals on oil changes and got you in and out quickly. They also used to do a great job of inspecting the vehicle and making reasonable observations and suggestions regarding recommended services. They never tried to up sell with unnecessary services. That was all until a year or so ago. Suddenly they seemed really anxious to up sell services to generate revenue. In addition, they now take forever to do basic things and we have waited around forever on several occasions (3 hours for an oil change and tire rotation!). The real icing on the cake is that I recently suspected that I had a bad rear wheel bearing. I called to make a service appointment and was told that I would need to prepay for a hub/bearing assembly that cost nearly $600. They said it was a special order and there would be no returning the part if the problem turned out to not be the bearing. That is complete BS. I took the car to Modern Tire in Rocky Hill and they confirmed the issue was the bearing and got the part for around $300. Total job less than $500 and less than a couple of hours. I used to recommend Liberty Mazda to my friends but not anymore. Stay away!! read more

We went there to look at a jeep. The first day there, we worked with Kevin, who was fantastic.. He scheduled us a day to let us bring it to a mechanic because during the test drive HE identified a sound coming from the engine. A few days later, we went back and dealt with a different guy, we were told that if something was wrong with the vehicle that was major, they would fix it. we brought it to our mechanic after being given a hard time by the associates there about whether or not we could afford it.. We can.. Our mechanic said that several belts were put on upside down, it needed an alignment and there was a transmission issue. We went back, talked to the associate who got a manager involved. This guy was a piece of work.. He blatantly told us that he's not fixing it because of a sound in the transmission because if we want it we are going to buy it anyway and I quote"whether or not you buy it or I bring it to an auction I'm going to make money on it without fixing it" I then asked about the integrity of his dealership, and what the warranty was if we bought it and it broke down on us, he constantly interrupted me and my husband before asking whether we want it or not. We replied we did not and he told us to go.. We will never be back to this dealer, nor would we recommend them to anyone! It's a shame since we had told them that we were also interested in buying a mazda too..buyers beware!! read more

They would not even sweeten the deal by throwing anything in. And, when we went to pick up my son's car there was a fairly prominent scrape which they say was there but most certainly not. They kindly offered to let us PAY them $700 to fix it!! And, after we complained about that, they kept us waiting 2 hours even though we had an appointment to pick up the car. I'm glad I learned about how Liberty Mazda does business before I actually did business with them. That was close! I was on time for an appointment with a sales rep today (6/30/18). Although there were several reps in the showroom, not one of them asked if they could help. In frustration while browsing through the showroom, I emailed the rep with whom I had set a meeting time to let her know I was there. She didn't come to find me for another 20 minutes, explaining that she had "over 150 emails I need to answer and I figured I could get to some of those because it is not uncommon for people to be slightly late to their appointments." I congratulated her and the entire sales team on being so busy. apparently they are so successful that first-time customers have to wait in line. Here's the irony: I walked in with the intention of buying a pre-owned CX-5. But what I saw while browsing the showroom made me start thinking that a new vehicle might be a better idea. read more

An insult to human intelligence. They play the "no negotiating, best price up front" game. Makes no sense to anyone with any brains. According to their own sales scam materials, 68% of people don't want to negotiate price. Hence, 32% DO. So they give EVERYONE the best price? How do you stay in business when you could have gotten a lot more $ from the 68% who wouldn't negotiate & would have paid a higher price? Its a scam. They think we are stupid. Besides that, the salesman never asked my name,never shook my hand, just gave his insulting sales pitch. Stay away from this place until they go back to a business model where you can negotiate a better price than their so called best price up front.
