Just no. Three of my cuticles are almost bleeding and we're painful as he "trimmed" them! My toes look like hotdogs because they were cut so short... my fingers look like my 8 year old cousin painted them because she leaves nail polish all over. While getting my pedi, I noticed that they do eyelash extensions and eyebrow tinting and decided to have it done. When I walked out I felt like a movie star! Everything was done to perfection. I unfortunately made the mistake of going here last minute before vacation because it was too late to make an appointment at my normal salon. My full set of gels were completely crooked and lumpy. And my pedicure wasn't filed, just cut, crooked and jagged and the worst application of polish I had ever seen. No matter what I said to her she didn't listen. I finally gave up. I started coming to Liberty Nails a couple of years ago, and have very little to compare it to... But the price is right, and the location is great for me. I used to ask for a guy Leon, because he did a great job on my gels, but after he left I have routinely gone to Lisa. She does a great job, and takes the time with me that I feel is appropriate. Today, I had Nina because Lisa wasn't in, and she was also great. Are all technician's created equal? No.. they are not, I have not had 100% satisfaction, but I think if you find one you like, stick with it, and you won't be disappointed. Today I got my finger nails done with gels and a pedicure. While getting the pedicure, I also got to enjoy a massage with the massage chair... Win win. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I took myself and my elderly mother for a treat. It was her first manicure and I told her it would be wonderful. Well that is an understatement, the grumpy man my Mom had only filed and polished her nails, no massage, no cuticle trim, no smile, just miserable. Do not waste your money!! Worst gel manicure I've ever had. So streaky, parts of nails missed on some fingers and gel over skin on others. Tools were taken out of the drawer and then placed right back in after use- clearly with no plan of being cleaned in between. I don't usually go here because they always do a really fast, sub-par pedicure. I was running late and going on vacation the next day, so I stopped in to get a pedicure. WORST IDEA EVER. I had never seen the man who gave me my pedicure before. He didn't talk to me at all, which is fine. However, when he was doing my pedicure he scrubbed so hard with the pumice that he literally took chunks out of my foot. He didn't didn't seem to care AT ALL. I'm a nurse, so I immediately treated it, however it is 4 days later and I've developed cellulitis in my foot and am currently on antibiotics. Have come for years and the only word to describe their work is inconsistent. Somedays they do a good job others it is sloppy and rushed. Never get your eyebrows done they don't listen to your askings and make them extremely thin. Went in to get just my unibrow waxed and ended up getting half the length removed. Do not recommend. Just don't go! If you are one of those people that expects a pedicure, don't go! I asked the guy who did my toes why he didn't clean properly and he said its bc I'm diabetic. I have had tons of pedicures I my lifetime and that has never stopped the nail technician from doing my nails properly. I used to come here a few years ago for acrylic nails with gel on top. nails were ok for a decent price, but once they figure out you've been coming back frequently they stop trying to impress you. the last time I went I waited for over an hour as they took customers who had come in after I had with no appointment. they have no idea how customer service should be handled. I can even put aside an attitude from the staff if the nails are good, but that's just not the case. I stopped getting acrylics and did my own nails from that point on. I just recently got acrylics again last month and got them done out of town, but needed a fill, so I decided to give this place another chance. I went in with an appointment but still waited twenty minutes. the lady who did my nails was nice, but rushed me. she trimmed my nails down to a shorter length but one hand was longer than the other and I asked her to trim it and she was not having it. all I asked for was black polish with gel on top and she didn't put it on evenly, when I hold my hand up to the light you can see right through the polish. not to mention my nails are all a completely different shape and are not even symmetrical on each nail! they look terrible. can't wait to let them grow so they can be properly shaped somewhere else. read more

First time I walked in I walked right back out because I wasn't even addressed for service but It was busy so I figured I'd give it another shot on a less busy day...bad move. I had a horrific encounter with Liberty Nails in South Brunswick, NJ. I went in to the salon for routine nail service manicure/pedicures with my daughter and mother in-law. When we walked in, the place was dead; the workers were slouched on the chairs sleeping. They sluggishly got up from their seats to attend to us as if they were upset that we woke them up. Should have known, because the service was just as hideous. For those who get their nails done, gel nail polish has to be soaked off for safe removal. However, the .guy doing my nails was pulling it off, consequently, damaging my nails. I brought this to his attention reminding him that it is gel polish. He tells me that "soaking it off takes too long, and according to him "my time is my money". (We were the only customers there at that time). He then, put his hand up and walks away to go smoke outside. The manager brought another worker, but two minutes in, I had to leave to pick up my little one from the bus stop. When I returned, I told her that I am not able to stay to finish. I pulled out 35 dollars to pay her for the services rendered to my mother in-law, but she said my bill was 37 dollars because of the two or so minutes that lady worked on my nails. She even threatened to call the police if I don't pay the 37 dollars. I told her that it was all I had and based on the service I received, I feel uncomfortable using my credit card. She then snatched the 35 dollars from my hand and started cursing at me "fuck you". Right away the two male workers joined in. "Fuck you nigger, Bitch on Welfare. (I am an Army Veteran and a Registered Nurse). I walked out of the establishment, but went back in to retrieve my mother in-laws belongings. They didn't stop. "Fucking nigger". " I have no problem killing a nigger" etc. etc. That is when I couldn't bare to endure any longer, I felt unsafe and certainly, my feelings were hurt, so I called the south Brunswick police department to report the incident. read more

I have gone on and off to Liberty nails for the past couple of years. Today will be my last time going there. I have never been so rushed through a GEL manicure in my life. And she didn't even put top coat on my whole nail. Also, the workers are loud and clearly are having a joke at the customers expense. I know that at most salons, they speak their native tongue but this was just offensive. I'm very unhappy with the manicure. I got a french and the white is streaked down half my nails. I used to get my eyebrows done here very often by the woman who always sits in front with the glasses, and she was always gentle & did a good job. This time, however, I was very disappointed. First I had a pedi, and that was fine, she didn't do that for me, someone else did. But then she did my nails, and being that she seems to run the place, I thought oh great, she should do a fantastic job! But no. She was digging at my cuticles, clipping and clipping at them, like a woman scorned... 6 days later my nail beds are still red, jagged, puffy and peeling. She made me bleed on three fingers! I should have made her stop, but I didn't. Afterwards I let her do my eyebrows, and I didn't notice until the next day that she had pulled some skin off under my brows. I could see the scabs. Terrible. I don't know if she burned me or left the wax on too long or what, but they hurt. I am NEVER returning. She possibly undercharged me - $61 for two manis, two pedis, and my brows (unless they charge less for kids, my daughter had mani/pedi too). Usually I would have corrected her, but I was so angry & disgusted I kept my mouth shut. I'll put it towards the Neosporin I needed for the boo boos inflicted by that woman. read more

My best friend and I have been going to Liberty Nails now for a few years. We both get a mani/pedi. My appointments are with Michael. Michael is wonderful. I have gel nail polish on my nails and always get designs. He is very creative in choosing a design or copying one from a picture provided to him. Michael also gives the most amazing pedicures. I made my 2nd appointment and asked for a full "set" of gels. I don't get my nails done often, so didn't know mentioning "set," meant acrylics. The manicurist scolded me for using the word "set" when I really meant gels. I asked if they had a better quality than the OPI bc the previous gels started chipping after a week, they mumbled something in a Thai and just handed me the displayed nail colors. I was so frustrated at this point bc every time I asked a question, she wouldn't remove her face mask so I couldn't understand what she was saying. All of the employees kept talking to each other in Thai, and they knew I couldn't understand. I was ready to walk out and just calmly asked to have the gels removed and I would take my business elsewhere. I assume the owner, approached me and offered the OPI colors and that if it chipped I could come back for a free touch up. At this point, the manicurist, seemed furious, and was very rough and just plain rude! I absolutely will not come back to this place! It's not appropriate to talk (non stop and loudly) in a different language, right after a customer has said something! Wish I could give this place no stars! read more

I was hoping Liberty would become my new nail place since I now live so close-by. Unfortunately, I will never go back. When I pulled up, I was already disgusted because an employee was literally right outside the door smoking. Another had just blown a snot-rocket and used his hand to wipe his nose. I should have turned right back around, but desperately needed my nails done and didn't have time to go elsewhere. The accepted me as a walk-in, but it took nearly 5 minutes before someone asked me what I wanted. They did not speak clearly, so it was difficult to understand where they wanted me to sit. Finally, she pointed. The woman who did my nails was also answering phones and even handled money. Her hands were not clean by any means, and I was quite grossed out. The polish application took only about 2 minutes (and I may be being generous here) - 2 coats on each hand, which I thought was way too fast. After looking at them, I realized that a third coat would have covered much better, but I just wanted to get out of there. Not even 2 days later was the polish already chipping. Even when I do my own nails at home - and don't even use a top coat - the polish lasts longer! Seriously don't think I've ever had a worse "professional" manicure experience (Professional is in quotes for obvious reasons.) This was a total waste of my hard-earned money. Now that I've read all these reviews, I can't even say that it was probably a one-time thing and I should give them another shot. I don't know how they stay in business. They certainly won't be getting mine again. BEWARE! read more
