I recently purchased the Pomegranate Sparklers and the Cranberry Sparklers for a friend. When the candies came I wrapped them and gave them to my friend for her birthday. She loves these, so I was thinking I was doing a good deed. However, the cranberry ones had a thick "slime" on it, and smelled absolutely terrible. She didn't eat them and threw them away. I'm not sure if the sugar melted and oozed, but they weren't what we were expecting. I emailed the company, letting them know, and I got a rude and it was the customer's fault response. Don't waste your time. Go with a company who cares about their consumers, not just pushes them under the rug when someone goes wrong. read more

How can touring a candy factor not be fun? We all saw Willy Wonka and saw how that turned out, right? No oompa-loompas here, but there are a lot of people in white coats. The tour is free, just make sure you don't hit them at lunch time, call first to see what the tour times are for the days you might be going. We threw on the hair nets and behind the magic doors we went, the smell is super sweet, and they take you to the stations where they are adding the flavorings and pressing them into packages, so you see if from beginning to end and hear the history of how the company started. The tour took us less than five minutes, so that might give you an idea of how small this place is, but it was still fun to see them making it. They do have a shop selling a lot of different flavors of their candies, that I don't normally see around here, and they also have Aplets and Cotlets that are sold through the catalog and can buy right there, like the covered peppermint ones, they were really good. One of the staff members was totally clueless about any of their products, so I am guessing/hoping she was new, but the other girl, knew alot about their line of stuff. Never heard of this candy prior to coming here. Was so glad that I didn't make special trip for this. Took the tour interesting. the president of the company, came over and introduced himself to the group, very cool. 100 years in business. They say they offer free samples after tours. Was excited about that as I was thinking about purchasing but wanted to taste first. Nope. For a group of about 20 people only had 1 sour apple. Your supposedly known for aplets and cotlets I would think you would have samples of those every time you did a tour. read more

Aplets and Cotlets, I know everyone's eaten this or at least seen someone who's eaten this. If you've never partaken, you must give it a go. As soon as you hit that first bite, you'll either one of two things: want to buy 20 pounds of it (10 for you and 10 for your mom) or you'll want to spit it at your worst enemy's face so they would have to lick it off! Do try though, and you don't have to go to Cashmere to get it. You're wondering why it's not the capitol for sweaters but for Aplets & Cotlets? Well, it's locally made, so I like that aspect. The candy itself just doesn't do a whole lot for me. But the store has more to offer than just aplets and cotlets. There are dipping sauces and trinkets; I think I even saw some tasty apple chips. If you're passing through Cashmere, it's worth a stop. read more

I did not find anything "fun" about visiting this place ..we spent way too much money on candy we did not need! This is good candy...but there really are no bargains at this store that I could find....aside from a few new flavors I see this candy at the same cost or less closer to home... I heard they did tours here of their candy making. I called ahead of time to inquire about days/hours of the tours. We were there on a Sunday and there were no tours happening. I asked an employee and she turned on a TV for us to stand and watch a video. The store in general was run down and not clean. read more

We stopped here for the second year in a row while out camping. Last year we took the tour and it was good, but this year they were actually making / cooking candy and the smell alone was worth the tour. The employees are great as are all the samples. Stop by and eat your fill and buy some to take home. They do have boxes of "seconds" that they sell ultra cheap. And if you can't have sugar, they make sugar free candies, also. read more

Very friendly staff, went in on a whim and were immediately greeted with smiles "how is your day?". The prices are great, and there are a lot of other fun local foods like jams, honeys, and fudge (for those not interested in their candy). We didn't take the tour, but the factory workers were friendly, as we observed through the glass door they smiled and nodded. Pleased we went in after our ruined experience at another local business, we needed a positive experience f some kind in Cashmere. read more

Aplets and Cotlets are about as Northwest a candy as you're ever going to find. My kids eat them, I eat them, my parents ate them, my grandparents ate them... These days they have way more than just aplets and cotlets, like chocolate covered and pastries and just about every fruit flavor you can imagine. I know that people either love them or hate them, but you have to at least try them. Make the drive over the mountains to visit the factory. They'll take you on a guided tour to watch the candymaking and they give out tons of free samples and you can shop their cute country store. Yeah, it's way country, but take it in the spirit intended. This is a great weekend summer getaway. read more

To quote a little old lady from a hamburger chain commercial: "Where's the nuts???" My advice, don't waste your time and money on this company. The product is nothing but an over sweet jellied candy with, if you're lucky, a small piece of a walnut. I recently stopped in at the plant and spent about $50 and was not only disappointed but disgusted. It was terrible. Years ago I lived in central Washington and at that time Aplets & Cotlets were a good product. I have never been a huge aplets and cotlets fan. We stopped in with our boy scout troop because the boys thought it would be fun to see a candy factory. It was Saturday and they don't do tours on Saturday because nobody is working. Although that wasn't really clear. We wandered around in the small shop for a while until we asked and were told that we were not going to get a tour today. Most of the scouts did not care for the candy and were disappointed by the lack of a tour. read more

This was a case of overbuild-up. We asked what to do in the area and a couple of people said the "Cotlets" tour was "must-see. It lasted about 15 minutes. We saw a guy pour some goop in a tray, while another guy hosed a floor. In another room, we watched women chat and stuff powdered chunks in a box. Another put a piece of paper on top. This wasn't like the Lucy and Ethel manic assembly line. The most riveting part of the tour was getting a hairnet. That said, the candies were great. Drop in the store, get some cotlets, look through the windows, and don't fret about hanging around wAiting for a tour. read more

first off let me say I love this line of sweets and all their derivitives. this is more a review of the store for those who may want to visit the factory for themselves. My wife and I where visiting Leavenworth and decided it would be fun to see this place as we both like the sweets. so we called ahead like good tourists and asked about tours of the factory. "yes tours are from this time to this time" says the nice lady on the phone. ok so we drive out there, in the aloted time and get there and what do they say? "there are no tours today the factory is being repaired." Hrmm, if I call again will there be tours? this is poor customer service, maybe they misunderstood and thought we where asking when the tours are? but it would seem the logical thing to do if someone asks about a tour and they might drive out to your factory to tell them that the tours are not going on right now, regardless of what time you usually have them. ok my rant is done, but for that I rate them a 3 for customer service, and the store is decent and clean but nothing special other than they have lots of aplets and cotlets, and those are very good. so if you go see it, call ahead and make real sure they are running tours if thats what you want. so fresh aplets and cotlets : 5 stars not so fresh customer service and a big let down :3 stars :( read more

It was a first time at this store on our recent day trip adventure. Have always seen the sign, but never had stopped. Soooo glad we stopped on our Tuesday adventure! What a cool store with yummy treats. There's a tour of the room right next door where they make the candy. You can watch through the window! There's the original stove on display in back of the store that's a real piece of nostalgia. Prices are typical touristy prices, but it's a good quality product. The sales clerks were really friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the Sparklers and tropical no-nuts candies. The only downer is a parking lot a bit down the street with only 2 handicap spots. Parking across the street would have been closer for me to walk. Luckily, we got a spot on the street right in front of the door. I'll definitely stop here more often. read more

I placed my order on Liberty Orchards 2 days ago and I received it this afternoon. I ran to the door to get my package and started ripping it open like a kid on Christmas morning! I had tasted the Aplets & Cotlets at a friend's house - one last piece was left in the box and that's all I needed to come home and place my order that night! Excellent service! I wish they would reduce the shipping charges a bit so that I can order it frequently without thinking about it twice. Better yet, join hands with Amazon and make our lives easier! The products were excellently packaged, and I received a free sample of their orchard bar, which was a nice surprise. I had ordered a smaller box of the fruit delight, but they had upgraded mine to a bigger box without any extra charge, as the smaller ones were out of stock! Now that's what I call service, and love of their customers! It made me think "If I ever owned a business, this is how I would like to run it!". Kudos, Liberty Orchards! I have been a customer of Liberty Orchards over the years, mainly to provide a nice gift for friends at Christmas or Thanksgiving. Well received. This year I ordered in excess of $500 worth of their product. It did not arrive as scheduled. Customer service, when contacted, was generally rude. The explanation was that an unsuccessful attempt was made to contact me. I have no record of the call, no record of the call & no voicemail on my iPhone . I would ordinarily have just written this off as a mistake, however, the Liberty Orchards rep essentially said too bad without apology. I will take my business elsewhere in the future.
