As a California boy I didn't quite appreciate Texas rain until I experienced it myself. It comes in torrents and rains buckets but sometimes only lasts for a few minutes. A fridge as a library is genius because it offers a watertight seal. No moldy books in here! Take that rain. I found a book about a South African kid who, in his teenaged years inexplicably began to become paralyzed. He was lucid and coherent for years without any way to communicate. It sounds horrible but it was an amazing read and a good reminder that I need to treat everyone with kindness and respect. There may be a lot more going on in that head than I imagine.

It's a cool, asymetrical, little LFL on a grassy hill near a lovely home. It was packed with a bunch of kid's books and a few adult options too. Even a really nicely bound Bible. Wow! Electronics geeks unite! So I found out that this…read moreisn't supposed to be "ten-bit," but instead it's in binary, so it'd really be "two-bit" but that level of geekiness doesn't translate to others finding your electronics heaven! This place is really cool, and the folks are friendly. They sell Arduino kits, which are little electronics projects that you can program up yourself. They teach soldering classes, and offer assistance on little electronics projects you might dream up. They have a bunch of cool board games that they play, and have all kinds of half-assembled electronics projects hanging around so you can see how things work! Their library is pretty awesome, but they seem to have experts on hands to answer any questions. They offer memberships, but I'm not 100% sure how that works.

Triple R refinished and replaced my kitchen cabinets. They did an outstanding job refinishing…read moredamaged doors and baseboards and replaced some doors, and paint application is flawless with clean lines. I recommend. Details below. I used Yelp's Project feature to get quotes on this job. I called Triple R too asking for quote, and it took a few days for a return call. They visited to see potential job and quote, as did a couple of other companies populated by Yelp's Project feature. Triple R's price was competitive, and their service features, guarantee and availability was the reason I booked them. The process was explained at booking. The cabinet and drawer facings were removed. A few days later they provided a paint sample on a cabinet door so that I could see the true color of how the paint looks. I'm glad for the test because the colors were too light. We tried a darker shade, which took a few days to get, and that was much better. The kitchen is completely closed off for 3 days, and we were asked to pull out the oven away from the wall so they can spray paint. They put up a plastic shield, ceiling to floor, to spray paint boxes of the cabinets. The facings are done at the shop. We had no access to refrigerator, oven etc. Triple R's work also included installing new doors (included in quote) new knobs and handles (we provided), new soft close hinges (they provide) and new bumper pads (they provide). Overall job took 3 weeks. Most communication was by text. Triple R is a family business, so grace given that their Yelp profile is not robust (2 reviews). And grace given with black dust that is a residual effect of interior spray painting (no damage resulted, just had to thoroughly clean afterwards).

I feel torn. On one…read morehand, I adore Little Free Libraries (LFPs), so I seek to praise them. On the other hand, I had a bad experience with this particular Little Free Library's steward. After I made made multiple donations, the steward informed me she did not welcome them. So I contacted Little Free Library's headquarters. The LFP representative noted that they do not advocate censorship. This rep also noted that they can't tell stewards what to do. I brought this information to the steward, who didn't care. The steward insisted she would dispose of any further similar donations. I decided to not fight it. At least I have reviews. Alas, I hate censorship. Fortunately, other LFPs seem better.

I really love the concept of these little community libraries! I recently discovered them when…read morerandomly driving around and saw it on the side of the road in front of someone's house. Being the curious sort I went to investigate further and found some great stuff! I am donating books to various ones I borrow from that I would have otherwise donated to elsewhere. This is a small park located in the Lakeline Ranch subdivision. It is perhaps an acre or more in…read moresize with few amenities. Off to the side is a play area with some swings and even a share a book kiosk. At the center of a park is a paved sidewalk flanked by four benches with bushes and crêpe myrtles at the center. Otherwise, the property consists entirely of open green space and cedar trees. It's basically just a nice open space that enhances the neighborhood's overall value.
