Didn't realize I have more imbalances than I realize (esp. the causes to my knee pain). I think it's huge to be aware of my mobility issues so that I can proactively address these mobility issues while continuing to train hard and minimize the likelihood of injuries. Evan was great and took the the time afterwards to provide some self-care suggestions. Also interacted with Jay during the initial assessment. I've been to many massage therapists for all kinds of reasons and I decided to try out Massage Rx for their specialty sports massages since my job is unique in its physical and mental stresses and my body endures quite a lot. So a bit of background... Broke my hip in college and have dealt with issues radiating from that mainly sciatica. So massage is a luxury and a necessity; not made of money so there is nothing worse than getting one that isn't good. On recommendation I used Massage Rx, and had an appt w/ Cara. Simply, was great. Best I have had in Los Angeles. She specializes in neuromuscular therapy so she is great at fixing chronic pain. I will absolutely use her service again, as she worked wonders on my lower back pain. Often, mostly because I am a bigger male, therapists can be a bit too rough/hard... There is a real art to balancing the firm/strength with delicate/care; she really did a great job. Thanks. I've been working out everyday, and I started having problems with my right shoulder -- tightness & pain -- and I was starting to have range of motion issues. I got a medical massage here with Jay. I am happy to say that the reviews here were all true! At the beginning he evalutes you and talks to you about issues he is seeing. The massage/stretches are then tailored specifically to your body and problems you are having. He pointed out issues he was seeing, some that I was not even aware of! He also worked on areas that no one has ever worked on! Not even physical therapists! What i liked best is that he trys to help you resolve the problems you are having by getting to the root and explains to you what is going on with your body. And he works on all the areas that are causing the issue (muscle tightness, scarring etc) and not just where you think the problems is. I will be back! read more

I work right up the street from this place and at first glance I was a little taken back because it is a small room in a chiropractors office. But all that did not matter once I met Michael and began the assessment. I normally go to a spa so this was all very new to me but I have been dealing with knee pain and I was getting no relief from going to those places where the main goal is to just relax you. Michael informed me what might be the cause and what he was going to do to help me feel the most relief after the session was over. during his assesment he notice my pelvis had a slight tilt and my knee was rotated out and that what may be the cause of my knee pain. He also looked for trigger points in my thigh that he thought may be the problem with my knee pain. My knee has not bothered me at all since after that first session. Michael really knows what he is doing and he makes sure you are confrotable with all the pressure during the session. I have had massages that almost made me cry and didnt provide the same relief as once session with michael. If I ever have another ache or injury like that I know exactly where to go and who to go too!.. thank you Michael for your time and focus on helping me with my knee pain! read more

Jay seems very knowledgeable and really helped me out when I was in pain through my SI joint, which included sciatic nerve pain. I think I overdid it later that day because I wound up with a muscle sprain in the area and severely inflamed, so take it easy after you see him. I would still absolutely reccommend him. read more

Excellent place for sports massages! I've been battling issues with what I thought was my IT band for about a year. I've been to two physical therapists, a dozen deep tissue massage therapists, a chiropracter...I've tried everything, with the same diagnosis every time. Jay is super friendly, professional, and KNOWLEDGEABLE. He immediately noticed issues with my hips/ankles that were being masked as knee pain. He explained to me why my current methods weren't going to fix the problem, and what we were going to do to try to correct my alignment. The massage was perfect. I trusted everything he did, which included things I hadn't tried before like the cupping technique and different stretches. While the pressure was deep, there was no pain at all, as Jay said going too hard can cause the muscles to tense up even more. He clearly knows his stuff and I walked out feeling SO much better. It is in a CrossFit gym - entrance in the back of the building, along with lots of free parking. There is some noise from the gym, but it didn't bother me at all. I'll definitely be going back soon.
