Dr. Rogers came highly recommended to me by 2 other doctors that I have known for many years and who's opinions I highly respect. I saw him on 3/9/20. He was extremely knowledgeable and communicated very well what my problem was to me in a warm, calm, caring, "not rushed", and friendly manner. He also was very patient with me and took plenty of time so I could ask all my many questions. I've seen other spine surgeons in the past but he is definitely one of the BEST out there. I would feel 100% confident having him do my back surgery that I have put off for too long now. I just started seeing Dr. Rogers after a car accident (concerns due to cervical fusion surgery 9 months ago). I do agree with the others that the wait is a bit ridiculous. I was the only one in the lobby. When I got back to the room I could hear him in with another patient. So there was only one before me. The office was silent. While I loathe waiting an hour past appointment times, I was super grateful once I met with Dr. Rogers. He has such a calm demeanor. Answered all of my questions, gave me great detail about my symptoms/complaints, and his concerns as well. He is sending me for a series of tests and wants everything done quickly due to my prior surgery. I do appreciate the concern for me and not rushing me in and out like so many doctors do nowadays. Arrogant doctor who doesn't value his patients' time nor intelligence. After waiting on him for nearly an hour while all the while hearing him laughing and joking in the next room, he came in with a package of candies and kept popping and chewing candies throughout the entire visit. His demeanor was arrogant and dismissive. I have a PhD and I expect an in depth conversation about diagnosis and treatment options. Instead Dr. Rogers offered curt impatient answers to my questions. He prescribed physiotherapy which I did. Sometime later on, I called the office to follow up on a sticky glute and lower back pain. I called his office to request an MRI referral. It's been over two months since and I never heard back. NOT GOING BACK to this office. My advice to you is stay away if you seek a caring, responsive and intelligent doctor who values your time and well being. read more

Simply the best! Doctor Rogers and his staff are wonderful. This is a long overdue review. I had lower pain over the years that had progressively gotten worse. I had 2 minor type surgeries, a laminectomy and a microdiscotomy. Those didn't alleviate the pain of the sciatic nerve and lumbar pain. I opted for a lumbar fusion with a doctor recommended by my primary care physician. Everything turned out worse. Went for a full year of pain management which again did nothing but minor relief and weekly visits. I finally decided to see another spine surgeon. The question was "Who?" I wanted a doctor near me as my other doctors had been on the west side. I checked around and I found the best spine surgeon on the planet, Dr Rogers. After sending me for current MRI , I was scheduled for surgery to straighten the rods and tighten screws. It had been painful to walk up u til Dr Rogers worked his magic. It is now 3 years post op and I'm still doing fine. There is no better spine surgeon in my opinion. Thanks to Doctor Rogers I have my life back. Three weeks ago (before he preformed my microdisectomy) there would be times when I couldn't even crawl, the pain was excruciating; now I forget sometimes that I was ever injured. He really listens to and cares about his patients. I had a lot of questions and concerns and he took the time to help me understand, and was forthcoming about potential risks and expectations. The surgery was a complete success and I honestly don't see how you could find a more skilled, qualified, and attentive surgeon. For over two years, I experienced so much neck pain. I tried chiropractor, acupuncture, and physical therapy. I was taking prescribed pain medications daily. When the pain radiated to my right arm with intermittent numbness and tingling, I had no choice but to consult with orthopedic and spinal surgeons. I have had a total of 8 spinal surgeries so I know a great surgeon when I meet one...He has done 2 surgeries for me...The first surgery he did was a redo on my cervical spine... Dr. Rogers did my microdiscectomy in October. He went above and beyond with scheduling, answering any questions, and even calling me the night before surgery to make sure I was okay. I was very severally limited in my mobility. I'm now walking with no issues and starting to bend and lift more each day. I had some crazy irrational fears about anesthesia and my anesthesiologist was great. Took a deep breath and then woke up in the recovery room. My nurses were fantastic. As some have mentioned, there are occasional bumps in his medical 'practice', and I found the staff has its ups and downs, but he is top-notch as a surgeon, and when you need help this badly -- what else matters? He was chosen by my doctor for her own surgery, and every doctor I was sent to for the pre-surgical OK was highly admiring when they heard who was doing the surgery. I was told that before he operates, he exercises (for alertness), and pores over the MRIs to visualize exactly what he will be doing, and how he wants it to go -- so he's alert, and intensely focused on the task before him. He patiently explained the surgery and options, and handled my very complicated surgery successfully. I had fallen, and was overlooked by a major medical center when I went for testing, so my back--which was broken--healed itself for years, but incorrectly. Dr. Rogers had to excavate the 'healed' bone, which was impinging on my spinal cord, and fuse the lower vertebrae with titanium rods. * I was in agony, and now I'm pain-free. I was in danger of losing my mobility from the waist down, and now my problem has been eliminated. * Other problems have been correcting themselves, now that the big problem at the base of my spine is in its correct position and alignment. *Other surgeries that might have been needed are now not necessary. Very few doctors even within this specialty could have handled something this intense -- two surgeries, two days apart, for hours on end. And thanks to him, I'm restored to full mobility, pain-free. When I first seen Dr. Roger's I was walking face down. I could not stand up straight to save my life, I could not walk, sit, or lay down for more then 5 minutes at a time. The active life I lived was gone, no more paintball games, skating, doing flips, walking, driving, etc. All that was gone. Dr. Roger's helped me get my life back on track. Look, I'm not a hothead, if someone would have come in and said "sorry, the doctor is running late, etc, etc" I would have waited. That did not happen. I tried to get an appointment but.. This is not about Dr. Rogers. I have no idea if he is good or bad because I never got an appointment. I called today at 9am to schedule an appointment for a previous back condition of a bulging disk and pinched nerve. He was referred to me by my nurse sister-in-law. I am in a tremendous amount of pain and can't move around due to the nerve impingement. The phone rang for a while, was answered and immediately put on hold. Waited 5 minutes, hung up and tried again. Got someone to answer but was put on hold again. The reception person Steve answered and said they were busy, took my name and number and promised to call back. Fast forward to 2pm - no call. I call and a lady takes my information, apologizes, and says Steve will call back in an hour. By this time, I am in so much pain I can't see straight so I get another referral and book with Dr. Ashford in Pasadena. Steve calls back at 3pm and I tell him I have found another doctor and won't be making an appointment. He sounded hurt ("Oh really?"). Yes, it is unacceptable to treat patients, even prospective patients like this. read more

I am so thankful to have found Dr. Rogers and the quality of care he has given me. I had a debilitating lumbar spine/sciatic nerve issue in 2013 which he corrected. More recently I had a cervical spine issue that he was also able to correct. In both instances my quality of life improved immensely! He takes the time throughly explain MRI and X-rays results and discuss non surgical options you may have. Where do I even begin? Let's just start with, the only reason I even signed up onto Yelp was to write this man a raving review for all that he has done for my grandmother. Words can't even express the true gratitude that we have for him, his staff and his work. In all my years dealing with many different types of doctors in 2 different states, I have never met one that has cared so personally about a patient before. He takes the time to explain everything and makes sure that you truly do understand the medical gibberish that most doctors don't care to break down for you. He goes above and beyond what he is supposed to do. My grandmother was in the hospital for 36days, and every single day he made sure to stop by and see her, no matter how busy or tired he was, no matter the time of day it was, he made sure to stop and see her. WHO DOES THAT? He still continues to personally check up on her even though it has already been almost 3months post op. He truly cares about her, and in no way sees her as a paycheck as most MD's unfortunately do now. It upsets me that people complain of the wait time in the room. Yes, a couple of times we had to wait a bit past our appt time, however I would much rather know that I am in the hands of a surgeon who is running late because he has so many patients that trust him and that he makes a point to make time for, instead of walking straight into an office and right into seeing a surgeon immediately because he doesn't have anyone else to see. Get my drift? He is a busy and popular man because he is a wonderful surgeon and MD. As for the phone thing, how could one know he is on a personal call? One of our appointments he had a call from the hospital and had to step out to take it. Completely understandable! He is just taking that extra step. That is something to be commended for, not put down for. I would hope that if there were an emergency with my grandmother that he would take the call, as I am sure every other patient might feel as well. Priorities are not taken lightly in this office. Speaking of the office, it is professional, clean, comfortable and inviting. Especially with the very personable staff he has. Angela and Richard both are great to work with and always a joy to see upon appointments. The entire experience from start to finish, every office visit, is always a pleasure. They all feel like family and friends at this point, and do not in any way brush you off or make you feel unimportant at anytime like we have felt in other offices. My grandmother speaks spanish, but despite the language barrier he always talks to both her and I. She told me one day after our visit that she always feels like part of the conversation and that he acknowledges that she is there instead of just talking to me about her as if she weren't there. He knows enough of a little bit of spanish, and she knows enough of a little bit of english that they will speak spanglish with each other to have more of that patient/doctor relationship instead of her never communicating with him and vice versa. Once again, he takes that extra step when he doesn't have to. And always asks her at the end, in spanish, to her, if she has any extra questions for him. She loves that. I have never seen or known of a doctor to walk an extra mile for a patient. He really has given me hope once again that there are doctors who do what they do because they CARE and because they took an oath, not because of how much money they will make. He has performed more than one surgery on my grandmother, and watching her walk around painless and getting back to her normal self is just an undeniable joy to see. He is a miracle worker and we were blessed to come across such an MD as he is. I recommend him to anyone who needs done what he does. He not only is a caring doctor, but a brilliant one. You would only be so lucky to have him work on you. You may have to wait a little in the waiting room, (which we only had to once or twice fyi), but frankly who doesn't have to wait in a waiting room at the doctors anymore. I don't even know how to begin to thank Dr. Rogers for saving my mother from a miserable and painful time in her life. When I realized that she was in good hands, I didn't' care if we had to wait the whole day to see him...yes! He is that great!!!. Last week I waited 3 hours at the DMV to get my license renewal, 1 hour at my doctor's office for a regular check up, and 45 minutes at the blood lab for a test because I walked in without an appointment. My mother is 82 yrs old and she wasn't able to walk, and the pain was so excruciating that we thought she was not able to ever walk again and she was facing a grim future. I feel absolutely fortuitous to find doctor Rogers, his professionalism knowledge and the way he conveys complex information is something that rarely is found among doctors. He was willing to do the highly complex surgery that other doctors refused to performed due to my mother's age and other health issues. After getting clearance from her other doctors, surgery was schedule. Angela and Richard really made this process easy, and as busy as they are, they managed to keep us informed and were able to get back to us in a timely manner every time. My mother's surgery was a success, she is back on her feet again and walking. She is still at the hospital for a few days in post operative physical therapy, but her smile and happiness that she is experiencing right now is invaluable. Prior to meeting Dr. Rogers, my mom had already been through 2 back fusions and 3 other back procedures by different doctors. My mom wasn't able to walk, sit or stand for more then 5 minutes at a time and was on the verge of becoming paralyzed. No other doctor wanted to treat my mom because he condition was so bad. My mom had also withdrawn from family activities because she was in so much pain. Dr. Rogers schedule my mom for urgent surgery, prior to surgery Dr. Rogers sat with our family to discuss the surgery in detail and answer any questions we had. Dr. Rogers made sure we were all comfortable and assured us he was going to do all he can to help my mom. Dr. Rogers remove the scar tissue that was pressing against her spine. When my mom woke up from her surgical procedure, she felt relief right away. Within a month or two Dr. Rogers made sure my mom was in physical therapy and getting all the follow up care she needed. My mom is now able to walk with a cane, sit and have conversations with us and go out for walks. Dr Rogers treated me with sub par care because of my insurance provider and then dropped me as a patient because I cried after waiting three+ hours for him on multiple occasions. This asshole would schedule my appointments and take his lunch when I arrived. When I think about this 'doctor' my heart races because of what a horrible experience I had. Sick people go to doctors looking for help, and doctor Rogers and his staff treated me like crap and made me feel guilty for being unhappy that I was sick and hurting. I live in Somerville Alabama, and I had many spine surgeries done locally to treat conditions in the lumbar and cervical region. I had a thoracic spine problem that was causing many problems including bladder control issues. After years of pain, I spoke to a local Doctor in Huntsville Alabama about the thoracic and explained that my surgeon would not treat it. While steadily getting worse, I began looking for the best Doctor for my specific problem. I found Dr. Rogers through much research, and his credentials are amazing, after all a Harvard graduate in medicine is astonishing. Just to get into Harvard requires much intelligence. After contacting Dr. Rogers with my concerns, and sending him MRI views that had been done locally, he agreed to see me. I made the trip to California to meet with Dr. Rogers in November 2014, he then ordered 10 studies of my spine including MRI's, CT scans, and X-Rays. I met his staff during this visit as well, and you could not ask for a more caring environment. I then come back to Alabama awaiting Dr. Rogers decision as to what had to be done to treat it. He spent many hours viewing my spine in order to find the best solution for treatment. Dr. Rogers was and is extremely honest with me, and he said if he discovered that treatment would offer me no improvement, then we would not pursue surgery, on the other hand if there was a chance for me to get better and hopefully well we would surgically treat it. On December 30th I had a triple fusion at the T-8, T-9, and T,10 level. I was up walking the halls the next day.The estimated time for me to be hospitalized was 3-4 weeks, and on January 9th at 12:20 p.m. I was released from the hospital a grand total of 11 days. I was able to walk without assistance, dress my self, and get myself in and out of bed without assistance, only 2 days after surgery. On December 9th I was able to catch a flight out of Los Angelos International Airport also known as LAX, and return to Alabama 2000 miles from California. I no longer feel hopeless thanks to Dr. David Rogers, I have never met a Doctor who cares so much about his patients, he is the real deal. read more

Worst office ever!!! Dr. Rogers seems to think that his time it the only valuable time. He does not care how long his patient are waiting in the waiting room and even when you get put in the back room you still have to wait another 30 min or so until his done on his cell phone with personal conversations. You would think this only happened once but no I have taken my Mom there four time and all four time its been a disaster. After you go in and see him he rushes you out as fast as he can but that's not all. One of the time we were there he came in saw my mom got a call said he would be right back and 45 min later he comes in. This last time our appointment time was at 10:00 am and when we walked in I did notice there was a lot of patients waiting. At 11:00 am the secretary comes out and says he is no were to be found LMAO!!! but that is not the worst of it. There was this elderly lady sitting there since 8:00 am which by the way was her appointment time and she had just had surgery of some kind by Dr. Rogers and they tell her " oh he was here at 8:00 but had an emergency meeting and had to leave". ( What the Hick) who has emergency meetings. This ladies nurse or care taker not sure then says to the front office staff she is in a lot of pain and we have another appointment can we see him tomorrow and they said NO! his booked for the next to weeks.. OMG!!! and why did no one tell this poor women who was promised he was on his way, earlier that his was not coming anytime soon why wait till 11:00 to tell her. . Dr. Rogers is a JOKE and I am going to report him to Medicare he treats his patients like they were a bunch of herds and not humans. I will never expose my Mother to this man ever again. My advise to you is if you don't have a life or a schedule and you don't care to be treated like your in a free clinic you will be OK at this office other than that trust me DO NOT GO THERE.... read more
