They refused to take my credit card after my son lost his temper, they kicked us out of the office. When we came back the next day, they charged us 3 days of storage after having the car for under 36 hours. If your car gets there at 11.59pm, they charge you for that calendar day. They are rude and insulting on the phone because they know they have you by the short hairs. If you are in an accident, DO NOT let the police call you a tow because they will call this grifter company. Call AAA or anyone else if you can. Also, this operation is owned by the same people who own "lifesaver tow" in Felton so do not use them either. Damaged the car! Our car was towed because, despite the registration being paid, we haven't received the tags, all of which can be verified by the DMV website. So, a $265 ticket to be disputed. Thanks Meter Maid Jessica Goode! Enter Autocare "Lifesaver" Towing, with it's lucrative and exclusive partnership with the Santa Cruz Police Department. Our gripe with "Lifesaver" is this: They're beyond rude on the phone. They have rules in place that make it extremely difficult to release your car: "Lifesaver" can't release the car to anyone but the registered owner (their own rule; this is not the law). In our case the registered owner is out of town. So "Lifesaver" here says, rudely, we will send you an Absentee Authorization that the registered owner must get notarized. Oh, and it's $150/night for every day you don't pick it up. Oh, and YOU MUST MAIL THE NOTARIZED FORM VIA SNAIL MAIL BEFORE WE WILL ALLOW A DIFFERENT PERSON TO PICK UP THE CAR. Oh, and we will wait until the end of the day to send you the form to be notarized so that's another $150 for us. Also, $150/night for the days it takes for the mail to get to us and for us to bother opening it. "Lifesaver" doesn't have a fax machine. "Lifesaver" doesn't use e-signatures. One can only conclude that "Lifesaver" finds snail mail to be far more lucrative. Thanks "Lifesaver." You're super duper! "Lifesaver" will hold on to your car with every little trick in the book, and on Day 3, they begin preparing Lien paperwork, which will add another $250, just in case you don't pick up the car and pay their usury within 30 days. Here, they depart from their normally slo-mo, old-timey snail mail ways, and get right to it. Incidentally, the owner, operating in Watsonville and Santa Cruz, California, is Kelvin Ramer. He serves as the President of KJRB Inc., the parent company of Auto Care Lifesaver Towing . His wife, Janette Ramer, is the Chief Financial Officer of the company. If they're rich, and I suspect they are, they've gotten there by grifting every dime they can out of honest hardworking people. I'm putting this here because when I asked the person I spoke to at "Lifesaver," who owned the company, his response was, "He doesn't like us to give out that information." Yeah, I'll bet he doesn't. Additionally, Kelvin Ramer is known in the monster truck community as a driver and sponsor. Auto Care Towing sponsors the Living the Dream Race Team trucks . We will be filing a consumer complaint with the Santa Cruz District Attorney as anyone else reading this who's had similar issues should. This is, as I said, a shameful business run by grifters. I called to get different quotes from Rossi's and Santa Cruz Aptos Towing, they were quoting me $195 and even $245 for a tow for 6 miles with an estimated time of 1.5 hours. It was late around 12AM when I called when my Prius broke down. I ended up calling Life saver since theyre emergency and 24/7 and right away a person answered the phone and was super friendly. They quoted me way less than what these other establishments were charging. They even got someone out within 30 minutes. I'm about 25 minutes long behold someone arrived. Clint arrived to tow my Prius, he was kind professional and quick. Never had service like this when needing a tow. If you need an emergency tow, definitely a go to. People, if you are stranded and in need of help, remain calm and find a different place to tow you. This place is a scam, and a rude one at that. This place is terrible. We were stranded and in need of help and they were the closest available towing service. When we called they were very rude over the phone, and had slurred speech. Their home operations was less than a mile a way yet they wanted to charge $190 per hour. That rate was to start the moment their driver "left" and would end when the driver made it back. When we asked how long it would take for them to get there, they said 45 minutes-- they wanted us to pay them for 45 minutes at $190 per hour, when the place was only .6 miles away. read more

Worst place ever. Didn't really have a choice, highway patrol called in the tow for my husbands truck that was totalled in bonny doon. The guy had my husband going under the truck and climbing all over trying to hook it up. Wtf he was just in an accident, do your job! These people are terrible. They used two tow trucks when one would have sufficed so they could charge double, exaggerated the time it took, and charged two days for one day's storage. Then didn't deliver the car to the street when asked because they had "an emergency". There were several other customers waiting as well. They only have adequate staff available to take your money, but not bring your car out of the lot. I got into a car crash sometime last week and could not move my car because it was so damaged. By the time I got around to "release" the car from Lifesaver's lot, I was going through a lot of other side issues as well (legal issues, insurance problems etc). I live two hours away from Santa Cruz and needed a tow truck to bring back my totaled car to a closer lot from home. The process was extremely tedious because I had to go through insurance and there was no way for me to go to the lot because I did not have a ride. Because of liability and fraud they could not release the car unless we went there in person. Surprisingly enough, after explaining my situation (no ride, legal issues, problem with insurance and especially the WHY I could not go down to Santa Cruz) they offered a variety of ways that we could solve the issue. We ended up agreeing on scanned documents, IDs and other pertinent information about the car via fax or e-mail. I was extremely relieved to finally get this issue solved. Although to some the "customer service" at Lifesaver's might not please them as much as a generic 800 number representative, I felt like they were extremely professional, genuinely good people that are willing to help you with specific needs. Just some advice for those that will be using this service, be patient and clear with what you want, and I know for a fact that lifesaver's will get you what you want. read more

These people are very experienced and proficient with rude behavior. Every telephone call immediately evolved into confrontation, even when I asked siimple questions such as the total of the bill. Payment was not possible over the telephone, but was not explained until we arrived to pay the bill. (Part of the bill was to be payed over the phone by a colleague.) The bill was VERY expensive; and the vehicle was damaged, including a mutilated tire. The response was 'Sue me.' and 'Get your vehicle off my yard!' We were not allowed to change the torn tire there before driving it away, even though we paid more than $400 to get it towed. (CHP had it towed before AAA arrived. Because I could not afford to pay cash on the spot, it was impounded.) This business exists only because of CHP work. They could not work with AAA. I've been interested in tow company lien sales in Santa Cruz County for ten years now. I have had poor experiences every time, and unfortunately Lifesaver towing was no different. If you are interested in purchasing a lien sale vehicle from them make sure you do it through the actual legal lien auction process. If they talk you out of taking part in that process so you can arrange a purchase later, the vehicle becomes their property to do what they please with.
