They smash them on a toaster that gives them a bit of a crispy, crunch. SO YUMMY! I can see why they sellout of them frequently:) Our vanilla lattes were made to perfection, although a bit hotter than expected. The atmosphere is quaint, with a small town charm, in what seems like an historical building in the heart of Old Town Pittsburg. The three young gals behind the counter provided fast service, but could definitely step up on customer service interaction instead of yacking amongst themselves, especially if they expect to be tipped.

The lid on my coffee wasn't secured properly, and the drink spilled before I had even taken a sip. We let the staff know and moved to another table. A gentleman, who I assume may have been the owner or manager, then told us we couldn't sit at that table because the tables were arranged a certain way for the "best flow." We moved as requested, but the way he spoke to us was unnecessarily rude and made the entire interaction feel awkward and uncomfortable. I then asked the barista if she could replace the coffee that had spilled, and I was surprised when she told me I would have to purchase another one. Considering I hadn't even taken a sip and the spill happened because the lid wasn't secure, I expected a little more understanding. Unfortunately, her response and demeanor were also quite rude. It was such an odd experience, especially over something that could have been resolved so easily with a little kindness and basic customer service. Good coffee, terrible service. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

It's a true work of art that instantly catches your eye. Combined with the beautiful floral wall, the entire space feels inviting, elegant, and Instagram-worthy without feeling overdone. What really made our visit special, though, was the kindness of the owner. He was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. As a surprise, he even sent a bubble waffle over to our table just because and it was absolutely delicious! The menu offers a wonderful variety of teas and coffees, but the standout for me was the cheese foam. Made with a cream cheese base, it's rich, creamy, and wonderfully decadent without being overwhelming. Every sip felt like a treat. Truly Tea is one of those rare places that delights both the eyes and the palate. Between the gorgeous décor, exceptional drinks, delicious treats, and outstanding hospitality, it's a place I'll happily return to again and again. Highly recommended!

The…read moreultimate tearoom is Lovey's Tearoom, which is an hour away in Pacifica and though it is our favorite place, we believe we found a local tearoom that rivals our regular go-to tearoom place The Hen and Drake is in downtown Antioch! The minute you open the door, you are transported to a beautiful tranquil setting with linen tablecloths, teacups and plates on the table and comfortable chairs. In the corner of The Hen and Drake is a pianist playing some lovely tunes that set a very nice mood. The food presentation was impressive: We were given a small plate that held about two bites of salad. The bottom plate of the tray held finger sandwiches: egg salad and cucumber with cream cheese. The croissant sandwich had a thin slice of apple and sliced ham and cheese. The middle plate had freshly baked scones served with passion fruit curd. They were delicious and had a slight crunch on the edges of the scone as you bit into it. The top plate held desserts : individual fruit tart , french macarons( not made inhouse), and a lavender infused dessert with a creamy center. Every dessert was a "delight" to eat! Everyone who came with us to have tea, was impressed with The Hen and Drake and would definitely come back here. We were here to celebrate a birthday and to the birthday girl's delight, she was given a tiny cute ceramic duck container filled with a bit of custard to eat. What a wonderful way to end a birthday celebration!

The first time, I was deciding between two drinks and asked the cashier which one she recommended. I went with her suggestion, but after trying it, I realized I really didn't like the taste. I politely asked if I could switch to a different drink, but was told no because of the store's policy. While I understand that policies exist, I later called the customer service number listed on their social media to confirm that this was indeed their policy. Instead of addressing my question, the person I spoke with seemed more concerned about asking, "How did you get this phone number?" That interaction felt unprofessional and dismissive. My second visit wasn't much better. My friend and I walked in, and the cashier didn't greet us or acknowledge that she'd be with us shortly. She was making another drink, looked over at us, then looked away, and we waited about five minutes without any acknowledgment. When the customer she was helping came up to pick up their drink, she took the time to have a brief conversation with them while we continued waiting to order. When she finally came over, there was no apology for the wait or even a simple "Hi, how are you?"--just, "What can I get you?" The coffee may be good, but customer service plays a big role in the overall experience. Based on my two visits, I think there's a lot of room for improvement in how customers are welcomed and treated. Unfortunately, these interactions have made me hesitant to return.
