So many broken lockers, broken equipment at the gym. Not enough treadmills, plenty of exercise bikes no one really used taking up space. TV's are so old. People talking too much and working out are taking away a relaxing experience in the Sauna , it's like a social gathering for so many. Again so many broken showers! The lockers are so so gross. With trash on the floor or in lockers. Used towels everywhere. Men way too comfortable with nudity hanging around the steam room, make it a very dirty experience. The spitting in the lockers. Please put up a sign that says no spitting. Trying to clean and dress with the sounds of people hacking up is rather disgusting. Nobody hardly wipes down equipment, Can't the gym have someone go around with a spray bottle and towels to sanitize equipment? Why do I see like 3 or 4 employees working on towels outside the locker room folding when it looks like excuse to just socialize. Again the smells, the locker room smells so bad! You would be crazy to walk around the locker room without shoes, I do feel like wearing long boots up to me knees walking around this locker room In closing. Wellness greetings! We've been members since 04' and LTF is a vital part of our health journey. Overall, solid community especially the quality classes Eg Sunday SOL Yoga and passionate instructors. Additionally, we're very appreciative for the kids center staff. The LTF kids team cares very much about our children. We'll always be grateful for their Love. I've had favorable interactions with the Life Cafe team as well. LTF Centreville = good people. I did see previous comments about locker room issues and odors. Yes, there are cultures who have a tendency to make spitting sounds in the showers or use public hair dryers on unsavory parts of the body. That's a tough one to tackle and requires continued LTF/customer engagement for a solution. My key input/quick win pertains to customer communication recommendations. Recommend seeing multiple forms of communications during pivotal renovations such as the pickle ball and swimming pool reconstruction. We request more transparency that's all. For instance, I would periodically call the front desk just to inquire and the timelines kept shifting. Totally understandable given how contractors find issues etc... The team indicated the pool completion would be around Christmas 23 then Winter 2024 and as Murphy's Law dictated; the timeline kept extending until mid April. LTF's customers are from diverse genres, cultures, and backgrounds and receive info various ways whether social media, post on the LTF APP, email, or hard copy signage in main entrance. Please leverage those opportunities to highlight those updates. But a tangible way to communicate it is literally the front desk entrance where signage is visible for the community. We have had a family membership since 1999. Due to COVID, we have not been there since January 2020. We put our membership on hold, and paid a minimum fee each month. I called on January 7th to cancel our membership due to Covid, and we don't feel safe going there. We were just billed the full amount for the next 30 days. They said we have to give 30 days notice, which under normal circumstances I understand. With Covid, I believe there should be exceptions. Overall, the gym has really gone down hill. I moved from Houston to Fairfax, and had stuck with Lifetime Fitness. Real reason: - Their locker room/bathroom facility is worth it. It is cleaner, for the most part.. Has your feminine hygyiene products (i.e. razor, makeup removier, q-tips, cotton balls, mouthwash, brand-lotion, and good hairdryer). I cannot find another gym that has all these essentials and still feel good about walking into the bathroom without being scared off. Why just 4 stars? (I really wanted to give this 3.5 stars) - Maybe its me being biased, but I really.. really LOVED the ones in Houston. This place pales in comparison. . No outdoor pool . Need more classes . Not as clean . One of the employees couldn't help me with contacting a personal trainer (he was wearing a suit!) I had left the gym about a year or two ago due to me having no time and being on a budget (yeah yeah, excuses).. but decided it's time to hit the gym now that i'm more financial stable. also, despite what other reviewers say.. it's not hard to cancel a membership there. you literally just fill out a form. they don't want your membership if you don't want to be there. there are plenty of people who would love to join the gym. so as i mentioned.. my wife and i recently decided to go find a gym now that we have some extra cash to blow (we're not drug dealers). we first checked out the new XSport in Fairfax where the Circuit City was.. and that was definitely priced better than Lifetime. The Xsport was $33 a month due to their grand opening promo. it goes up to about $50 a month after that. All in all.. I didn't like that gym one bit. (see my review of XSport in fairfax) Then we decided to go back and checkout Lifetime. Now that we were married.. we got a slight discount and didn't have to pay any real joining fees or anything. It's a bit pricer than XSport or the other gyms in the area.. but I believe it's worth it. Feels like a community rather than a cramped building. We are paying about $130 for two people for their Platinum Couple membership. Also the place is still as beautiful as it was before.. in fact it's even prettier than before. when I originally closed my memberhsip.. they were remodelling the place. well a year or two later.. and it looks amazing. granite countertops everywhere.. nice dark redwood/oak cabinets. lockers are pretty much impossible to break into. This gym is great and I love tha it's 24 hours and less than 5 minutes from my house. read more

Total rip-off, right now if you want a basic level monthly membership, it's $119 a month when yes you are still going to have to wait for a bench to open up. Every year they just raise the membership prices higher. Yea they have a steam room, pool, sauna and a couple other things you might use, it's not worth the price. Their billing practices are definitely sketchy. I should've believed the reviews. I was traveling overseas and wanting to cancel my membership. They convinced me to put it on hold instead and then proceeded to charge me the full amount every month. My emails went unanswered. I had to make international phone calls which resolved nothing. I had my husband go in for me and he was informed to come another day if we want to cancel. We were billed for another month. I then finally went myself, I was asked why I'm there and when I said why, it was communicated to someone over the phone and I was told to wait for a manager. After waiting for ten minutes I wondered if they're hoping I'm going to give up and walk out again. That's when I approached one of the office where a manger looking person was chit chatting away. Sure enough, once he saw that I was upset, he quickly "helped" me. Needless to say, very sketchy customer service for such a fancy looking outfit. Very disappointed. read more

Just joined last week after I moved to the area. Was a little concerned about the value for the price & already after a week it's safe to say this place it worth it. Everything you would ever need from a gym as far as weights & machines go. Plenty of cardio equipment as well. I have been to spin class, caliente' dance class & yoga so far and they've all been great. The hot tubs & sauna are amazing also. Definitely check this place out. Been a member since 2011, this location has been going downhill for some time now . Usually when things break they stay broken for for to long, case in point are the men's shower stalls . I have been a member of lifetime fitness for 4 months now. I really like the gym. It has a lot of equipment, the facility is always clean, and the classes are great. The staff is also friendly and helpful. The instructors for the classes are always willing to help you with something if you need it and will generally chat after class. I am knocking off one star because the price is steep. I pay $90 a month for just myself. I do not have a contract though. I could have knocked off $10 a month if I signed a contract. Another review stated that the classes aren't free. This isn't true. There are some classes you have to pay for like some Pilates or child swim classes, but yoga, cycle, and cardio classes are free. I do 2-3 classes a week and I do not pay anything extra. read more

I've been a member here since 2013 and this gym is definitely luxurious with all the equipments and other provisions that you can ask for. I don't know if it's because I canceled my family plan and moved on to an independent one, but the prices kept on going up every year. So if you can afford to be a high monthly plan, it'll be worth it as long as you're an active member. When you go upstairs, they'll literally have all the machines and weights that you can possibly need. Group exercises are available in their spacious studio rooms. They also have a big pool with their own saunas, two full basketball courts, rock climbing walls, beauty salon, and a childcare service center. Not taking anything away but those are services that I simply don't need as a college student. It's better to look elsewhere because all I need are squat racks, bench, deadlifting platform, and other minor machines. read more

Signed a freeze account for one year, then came back soon after to sign a cancellation form. How they tell us that have the freeze form on record but not the cancellation form. Very odd especially since I signed two separate forms. The record keeping of accounts is not a good look, and many have complained about this in the past as well. Slightly better than a by-the-hour motel's basement gym in a third world country but as expensive as the Waldorf Astoria Bathrooms; I have seen suicide attempts that adhere to more health and safety measures. 1. Bathrooms are constantly dirty, there are always dirty wet towels laying on the shower area's floor, including inside the showers themselves. 2. Lockers are in bad shape, hinges are broken in most of the locker doors 3. During weeknights, dirty towel bins are overflowing and it would be easier to get a pair of Google glasses than a clean towel. 4. People spit in the showers and sometimes in the bathroom floor, so unless you have a weird fetish, do use flip-flops, I myself are considering full fishing boots. 5. I've been shoved out of the way in the locker room more than once (hasn't happened to me since high school sports). I don't mind roughing it, but for $90 a month? Weight Room; As friendly, clean and available as a State Prison yard on a sunny afternoon the day after a month-long lockdown. 1. Since I joined, I have not been able to use a bench, people arrive at the gym and throw a dirty towel on each bench to "reserve" it. When I am saying that I have NEVER been able to use a bench, I am not exaggerating ( and I have been there at least a dozen times). 2. Only a few times since I joined have I been able to use the 30 lbs dumb bells, they are always "taken" by people who have a collection of dumb bells around them, again, as if it were a motel gym, I have to use dumb bells that do not match my routine Trainers; Your underwhelming level of professionalism and punctuality can only be matched by United Airlines I met with Buddy who I think is a good trainer, has the knowledge, background and experience. I went ahead and scheduled quite expensive sessions with him at his higher rate because I think it is worth to train with a more expensive trainer. Problem is, when I show up, he is not there and has me work with another trainer who clearly is not of the same stature as him. Out of 2 sessions, both times he did not show up and had a filler. I know that it is unreasonable to expect the trainer that you hired to show up at least once. To be fair, the greeting staff is very nice, the place is big with many options for workouts and it is open 24 hours. So, In a nutshell; unless you miss the prison yard experience and/or have a weird fetish for bodily fluids, I would look elsewhere. read more

So disappointing! This place is the Walmart of Gyms! I just reviewed LTF in Rockville and gave it 5 stars but I can't do it for the Centreville location. This place is a circus! It was so crowded there was a wait for a treadmill which I understand it's the Monday after New Year's but this place is huge and it's not cheap! It doesn't even compare to the Rockville location...the "spa" services look like they are converted utility closets where as in Rockville they actually have a Spa area complete with rooms separated from the main workout areas. Apparently this location is a downgrade from the Onyx Club level and it's obvious. They are trying to sell you all these add ons and products like camp for kids, Eggbeaters and chiropractic services. I think from other yelpers this location is $70 but I pay $90 for the Rockville location (don't mean to sound like a snob) but I think it keeps it a little more exclusive. I will say it makes me nervous because the Rockville location has only been open for 4 months -- if it turns into what I witnessed at Centreville, I will go back to Ballys for sure. The other thing to note is the locker rooms were not as nice and seemed just overused. The towels weren't even stacked but because it was so crowded the poor staff couldn't fold them fast enough and they were in a big pile on the counter. Plus, it was just filled to the gills with people, tons of kids, teenagers, creepy dudes, old naked women...you name it. read more

This gym has a lot of great amenities (basketball courts, pools, saunas, showers, towel service, etc.), but none of that really interests me. If you need all of that in a gym, it's a great place (probably around 4 stars). I go to the gym to lift, stretch, and MAYBE do cardio. Reviewing from that perspective, I hate this place. Here's why: CONS: It is ALWAYS incredibly crowded. It's gotten to the point that I prefer to start my workouts after 8pm to avoid the rush (and even then it's still crowded). They never have a trainer assigned to work the floor and since most of the clientele are inconsiderate d-bags with faux-hawks, weights are never racked, equipment is all over the place, and mats are left all over the floor. Speaking of mats, the stretching area has a hard plastic/wood floor. And you're supposed to grab a tiny mat to stretch on. Here's an idea: THE FLOOR OF THE STRETCHING AREA SHOULD BE MADE OUT OF MAT-LIKE MATERIAL. They don't allow chalk. They don't have belts for customer use. They have two power racks (and they're the kind with j-hooks you can't remove from the supports to turn around) and one squat rack; which just isn't enough considering how crowded they are. Also, out of the whole lot of trainers they have here I'd say I respect about two or three of them. PROS: It's open 24-7; which is EXTREMELY convenient. Convenient enough to almost make up for the laundry list of cons. On the bright side, I get to use my frustration with how bad this place sucks to pull even heavier weight. read more

I feel bad giving it 2 stars, but I had a bad customer service experience there once during the day. We'd been going at night, with the help of a special guest pass that they gave to their members. The employees at night were actually nicer, it seems. The day time employees were bullish and power-tripping over my ability to use the guest pass without an ID. I had never been asked for ID before, so I hadn't brought it this time. Ugh. Ridiculous. Same response by the manager, too. Lifetime is a luxurious gym - it's got marble tiles, free towels, clean-looking showers, soap dispensers, sauna and steam rooms, and a large swimminng pool. There is plenty of equipment for treadmills and weights, plus an indoor basketball court. It doesn't have so much of the the sweaty stain smell that most gyms have. Eerily enough, Lifetime seems to offer a whole slew of rec classes for kids. It seems like they compete with other summer day camps, and classes at public recreation centers. It's like discovering an alien clone of yourself, in another colony. But more expensive. P.S. I also saw a fellow swimmer get nasty about how she couldn't swim ultra-fast in the fast lane. But the other lanes were full. It wouldn't have made sense to keep one lane entirely empty just so elite swimmers don't have to wait. We all have to start somewhere, right? Unless you qualified for the most recent Olympics, I won't consider you "fast", lady. She complained to the lifeguard, who was rather inexperienced, and then, as I witnessed, the supervisor on deck just asked people to move. That was "meh" management in my yelp. read more

Overpriced and poor management. (Which I guess happens when one manager leaves and makes sure the next manager to get promoted is his unqualified wife). The yoga instructors and the personal trainer I had here are great. That being said, they have the cheapest child care for a gym in the area causing problems who dont go to the gym just to have time away from their kids. I have no kids and I feel that their focus is on keeping those costs down while putting all their funding to the kids. They take over the fitness floor every summer- having a teenager barely old enough to be on the fitness floor to supervise over 10 kids. They kick the paying members out of the studio rooms by blasting music for the kids. They also sneak them up the back stairs to the entry in the back of the second studio so if you arent in there maybe you wont know its happening. What my friend pays per person monthly for herself, her husband and two children is 40% per person compared to what I pay per person. When you address issues with the management they throw a line at you about how they will fix the problem. They do not acknowledge or fix member issues nor do they follow up if they cant reach you the first time. The manager also constantly has her kids in her office, which I feel inappropriate. read more

If I had heard about it sooner I would've come sooner. It's clean the training staff is great and the spa is an awesome touch! I've had the membership for 6,7 months. The main downside is, there is no difference between a person who wants to use only the gym area (upstairs) and a person who wants to use all the facilities (gym, basketball court, pool, spa&...) and you have to pay for full access which is around $100 for unlimited clubs access! Also you have to send request to know the membership price and it's not in their website. Plus you have to tell them a month earlier than your cancelation in order to prevent the penalty. I switched to two different gyms (Gold's Gym and Planet Fitness) together less than $60 per month and all clubs access! Also I had the option "24 Hour Fitness" which has pool too with $50 monthly. I understand that this gym is going thru a lot with covid attendance and appreciate all that's being done to keep everyone safe. My frustration is with the app. Classes are only allowed for 9 students and everyone is on at the same time which is understandable. However, for weeks, I have been unable to get a spot in a few of the classes. Im not sure how the "regulars" consistently get a spot and I get in the app, there are major glitches and within 10 seconds im #4 on the waitlist. Does the attendance prioritize based on how many times you attend the class and then allows those people to sign up first? I tried to contact the studio manager twice and never got a response. I can NEVER get into t/th classes even though I am clicking right on time at registration. Its very frustrating and I feel like my monthly dues is being wasted since I'm not getting into these classes (the whole reason I joined the gym). Im sure they are under a lot of pressure from the governor and I understand, but I cannot understand why I keep getting glitches on the site or is it rigged somehow? read more

I've been a member for awhile now. As long as you avoid peak hours (4pm to 9pm) it's pretty good. There's always the debate if the near $70 membership is really worth it. The facility is 24 hours and the pool is open quite often (usually till 10-11pm) If your a male expect a bunch of people pretending their Captain Morgan in the locker room. Might want to stay out of the back shower stalls since they conveniently have 'peep holes' located to reveal parts of your body. read more

Really enjoyed this gym. Staff are professional and nice. Great people. Unfortunately since it's no longer 24/7 and they open at 5am, it is impossible for me to get in early enough before work to train. For $90 a month it really should be a 24/7 gym in my humble opinion. They state COVID-19 for the limited hours, however other gyms in the area are maintaining 24/7 hours of operation. Employees I spoke to confirmed they most likely will never return to 24/7. I used to go to the LifeTime in Dulles, but recently moved, and I'm stuck with this place. Luckily, I was grandfathered, so I only pay $80. I couldn't imagine paying over $100 and having to workout at this location. It's pretty crowded too. The building feels and looks older than the one in Dulles. It has a weirder variety of older machines. I'm not sure what's going on, and this prompted me to write the review, but the amount of smelly people at this location is disturbing. And I'm not talking about a slight B.O., I mean pungent and nose burning stink. Every time I've worked out here over the past few weeks, someone is stinking up an area of the upstairs gym. It's getting incredibly annoying, and I am thinking of going to the one in Fairfax instead *shudder*. I really wish there was a way to enforce people that smell like sweaty old socks that have been sitting on top of hot garbage all day and make them shower or wear deodorant. The sad thing is these people don't eve look like they're breaking a sweat, how can they possibly smell THAT bad?!?! If there were no stinky people, updated equipment, and a renovation, this place *could* grab 4 stars. I also hate the fact that people head towards the right parking lot and traffic gets backed up, do you not see the left parking lot with a bunch of open space? read more

This gym is so poorly managed. The management doesn't clean the gym properly or enforce a policy if people putting weights back where they got them. The people who go here have no gym manors. I agree with most reviews. Gym run down, not what it used to be. Used to be a member and frequent this place, but then started at Mason and used the facilities included in tuition. Also, LT is ridiculously overpriced. They still call me to try and tempt me into paying over 100$ for a single membership....it's laughable. I have been a member here for almost 2 years. It has everything that you could ask for in a gym. It gets 3 stars because of the price. If you join as an individual and don't get a family membership it's over $80 a month and when Bally's is charging 20-30, that seems a little exorbitant to me. I have a joint membership with my fiance which was difficult to get even though we live together. they have a terrible policy where you have to show them that you are on a mortgage together or have a joint bank account to qualify normally but after complaining to corporate we were able to get it done. (another down side) The one in Centreville is not in the top tier of Lifetime's and I don't know why. They have the most amenities and things to do of all the ones I've been to. The only one I haven't been to is the one up near Baltimore, MD. They have a pool, racquetball courts and basketball courts unlike even the onyx club in Rockville that costs 10 more bucks per month. It can sometimes get very crowded but it's 24 hours which is another plus. Overall pretty happy and it's 5 minutes from home so I'll probably be a member until I move. I wish it costed less and I wish they had a room with heavy bags or speed bags but they choose not to for whatever reason. I've requested it several times and NOTHING.... Gyms in general tend to be expensive when you go for the big corporate one and Lifetime is pretty much par for the course in terms of a big corporate gym. I wouldn't go out of my way to join but if you're nearby, you can't go wrong. I don't have kids but they have one of the best childrens programs that I've seen for childcare in a gym. Its not just the kid prison while you work out. The childcare staff actually seems to make an effort here. read more

The place is huge and will have most of the facilities and equipment you are looking for (swimming pool, basketball courts, yoga studio, cardio areas, free/ machine weights, power racks). It is also open 24/7, which is good for people on odd schedules, or if you are trying to avoid the after work rush. Staff is friendly enough during interactions, though not very present. I actually had my account expire without any notification from the front desk. Since I work out during evenings there was no one there to clear things up. I missed my workout that night and was forced to come in early before work the following day for a resolution. Don't expect more than the bare minimum "Hi/ Bye" from the staff. The members and staff are really bad about policing the weights. It usually takes me about 10 minutes to set myself up for my workout because I have to scour the weight room for the weights I need each night. Power racks will have no bars or clasps in them, while another rack will have 3 bars and 3 sets of clasps. It is also pretty common to find a rack missing entire sets of weights, only to be found in a rack 3 spots over, on a bar still on the ground with no one in sight. It really bugs me that the members are so discourteous and don't really care about the facilities. Even worse no staff seems to be there to help with the problem. I go here mainly because it is convenient to my location and it facilitates my workout. Definitely not a terrible place to work out, but I wouldn't say I am a loyal customer though. If I could find a place nearby that was cheaper and had the equipment I need I wouldn't hesitate to jump ship. read more
