The owner Kat was also the instructor. She was very thorough in her instructions before getting started so everyone was clear on what to do at each station. There were 3 exercises at each of 4 stations covering all the bases, leaving you spent after each one. Kat provided tips and motivational quips throughout which was super helpful. The other ladies in the class were friendly and welcoming. This is a 3 story boutique gym with even the 1st floor indoor area open to the outside allowing you to enjoy the fresh air and breeze from the nearby ocean. There are amazing views of the sunset over the ocean from the 3rd floor. Here's the best part, I happened to be there on a night where they were having a wine tasting social on the 3rd floor from 5:30pm-8pm. Kat and her assistant put out a lovely spread, both generous and tasty. Members brought bottles of wine to share while socializing and making new friends. It was such an awesome way to bond with this little community, which is something Kat really prides herself on. It's not just a gym but like a second home, somewhere you enjoy going to not just rushing in to grab a workout and get out. Check this out if you're in the area, you'll be glad you did! I chose this gym for the convenient location and easy parking. I'd never done a full walkthrough,…read moreso I popped in one afternoon and was genuinely impressed by the old-school vibe. It felt like a perfect match for someone who appreciates real gym culture over shiny boutique studios. But the longer I trained there, the more the cracks started showing--and they add up fast. The equipment is a mixed bag. The free weights feel satisfyingly heavy (old-world heavy, great for pumps), and I really loved the turf area--it's loaded with punching bags, sleds, aerial bands, kettlebells, Bosu balls, a vibration plate, and more. It's genuinely impressive... when it's not a zoo. People constantly cut across paths or leave equipment scattered everywhere. Lanes or some basic traffic management would make a huge difference. The machines, mostly older Techno Gym and Hoist units, are where things fall apart. Many have off motions, some are missing weight scales entirely so you can't even tell what you're lifting, and the abductor/adductor machine has a weirdly tilted seat that forces awkward positioning and incomplete reps. The locker room was a constant frustration. Way too small for the traffic, with tiny lockers that barely fit a gym bag--forget squeezing in shoes, a phone, or a hat. It's also uncomfortably hot with terrible ventilation, and the black toilets plus lack of any real vanity area made post-workout routines feel like a hassle. Same story with the abysmal shower water pressure. Nothing about the space felt luxurious despite the "low membership, high quality" marketing. The infrared sauna gets plenty hot but is clearly showing its age (the teak creaks like it's begging for maintenance). The cycle studio is actually awesome--super dark and built for intense rides--and the yoga studio with skylights and soft wood floors is cozy. The stretching room has a stretching cage and free percussion guns, but with only one cage and limited space, it quickly turns into a crowded mess. Two reformers are a nice touch, though. The recovery area has real potential: hot bath, cold plunge, red light panel, and Norma-Tec boots. But everything is pay-to-play after the first use (one free recovery session per month, $35 extra after that; InBody scans are $15 each). At my previous luxury club, these were included with your membership. They send a cute monthly newsletter highlighting employee of the month and new equipment, which is a nice touch, but it doesn't hide the feeling that the club is running on limited operating capital. Everything feels a little gimmicky and nickel-and-dimed. I really wanted to love this place for its old-school soul and solid turf setup, but at $199 per month, the headaches and lack of luxury simply aren't worth it. I'll miss the turf training the most, but I won't be renewing. Best avoided unless you're okay with paying premium prices for a dated experience.

Admittedly, it's a vibe. However, these concepts have you starting on the tread and switching off to the bench anywhere from 2-3 times. I feel like you do not get the ultimate benefit of either. The weight segment is also super ineffective, incorporating "compound" moves for basically everything with upwards of 5-7 different exercises for a max of MAYBE 2 sets. I get why people love this concept because it's hard to stay motivated with the same boring workout. Plus, these workouts will undoubtedly have you feeling sore, this feedback being what people thrive off of, because sore muscles=growth, right? WRONG, as you absolutely SHOULD NOT feel sore after every single workout. In terms of progress, you will quickly flat line with the lack of consistency due to all the randomness. However, people have different goals and exercise is better than none, I mean, if you can afford it!

There is plenty of retail parking on the first level of the parking garage as well as ample street parking. The studio is clean and has bathrooms, showers, high-end personal care products (lotions, soaps, feminine care products) and offers free towels to use during the workout. The studio is spacious and has treadmills + benches with weights and bands in each space plus extra weights along the wall you can grab for heavier lifting. Another thing I really love about the treads is the ability to do sled pulls and parachute runs...haven't found another studio in SD that has them! The trainers are motivating, the music playlists are curated to really pump you up and the workouts are 50 min - it's effective, efficient and you get a total full body workout and a balance of strength training and cardio w/ the option to double up on weights. I took advantage of the special they had for March for $196/month for unlimited classes (normally $300/month). I have been averaging going 3-4x/week so the value is there and this promotion was a really good deal! Can't wait for my next class!

I've been a member for a few years…read more This gym is consistent with great coaching , wide range availability of classes, and membership fees. During Covid the owner Jesse graciously let members borrow equipment during the first lock down due to Covid. Not sure how many other gym owners did that for their members. It just shows how much he cares for his members. He's jumped through hoops and loops, followed protocols to keep his members physically active, and help us maintain our sanity (keeping up with Covid rules to keep the gym open) during this pandemic. This gym is full of amazing skilled coaches, tons of equipment, and a great atmosphere. Whether you're looking to drop in or find a new gym home give it try. You won't be disappointed.

After having enough, I called the place nearest to me I could walk to. I was ultimately introduced to and booked with an exceptional trainer, Katie Kurtz. So glad I connected with her. Katie is so knowledgeable, inspirational and genuine. She pays mind to injuries or "bad days" and pivots workouts on the fly to avoid further injury/issues when needed. She does not just keep going- she checks in regularly throughout our hour sessions to see if she needs to rearrange the next step if needed. She starts the workouts always asking if there are any issues she should be aware of, and if you answer honestly, she goes from there to re-craft the session. She is strong, tough, fierce, attentive, and skillful. Really hard and great workouts- tuned for me! I was surrounded by the other staff at BRF often- good vibes, great personalities, and lots of hard workouts there. Very happy to have called BRF and been set up with Katie in my time of fitness need!

After spending just a few weeks working out at BRF, my college body has ditched its beer gut, and is ready to take on the beach. In addition, I have seen significant improvements in my both fitness and muscle definition. If you have the means to hire a personal trainer, I highly recommend doing so. Ethan does a great job of tailoring workouts to push his clients to their max. Another suggestion: if you order personal workouts, bring a friend. Nothing gets the competitive juices flowing like watching a friend do more push ups than you!

The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The workouts are never boring and designed to build on each other so that you can meet whatever goal you set for yourself. I've worked out at other gyms that focus on making the workouts as intense as possible. While P360 doesn't lack intensity, it is much more focused on quality than quantity. Instead of doing 100 deadlifts, you will slow it down and work towards your personal max over the course of weeks. The coaches are also extremely available to the members and will work with you on injuries or when you need more instruction. I came in knowing nothing about Olympic lifts. Not only do I feel comfortable with all of them, I've never injured myself in the process.
