I had one of the most disappointing salon experiences here. I booked a hair appointment, but halfway through my color the stylist got sick and I had to leave with my hair unfinished. Later, the salon called to apologize and offered me a "complimentary 30-minute facial" as a gesture of goodwill. When I arrived for the facial, I waited 30 minutes, only for the esthetician to tell me it was an 8-minute facial. I've never even heard of such a thing. She wiped my face with cleanser, put on some moisturizer, and that was it. Definitely not a 30-minute facial as promised, and certainly not an adequate apology for the inconvenience of leaving with half-colored hair. This was a terrible experience overall -- no accountability, no professionalism, and no follow-through on their word. I would not recommend this salon to anyone who values honesty or quality service. read more

So, I'm more of a once a year kind of hair gal... Quite literally my last cut was a year ago. I tend to get a bit nervous because I never know what a new year and new cut might hold. I have to admit, Brea made it fun and was honest with me every step of the way. This time of year, I always want bangs. My hair isn't particularly fond of them and Brea warned me and proceeded to cut just as I had requested. She was very good about having no judgement and as I said, she definitely made it fun. I went to LifeSpa for the first time after my workout today. Emily did my pedicure and it was great. My feet feel and look amazing. It is the most relaxing spa because you can hear the gym noise from the pedicure room. I also thought some of the front desk staff could have been more attentive and friendly. The other day I came in and wanted my hair died and to cover up my greys. My stylist mentioned highlights and I am not fond of them. She said it would help cover up my grays. Well, it looked AWFUL!!! I was shopping one day at Aveda in Chandler Mall and was discussing hair products, etc.. with the staff when they informed me of this place. I had no idea that a gym would also offer a full service salon and day spa. Much to my surprise LifeSpa is an Aveda concept salon/spa meaning that they solely use Aveda products in all of their beauty treatments. If you are familiar with Aveda then you know they are a company based on using pure flower and plant essences. I booked my hair appointment with hesitation since I had a bad hair experience in the past that always makes me gun shy to try something new. When I arrived I was greeted with a hot cup of the Aveda tea! I love their tea and look forward to it every time I come here or visit the store in the mall. I found the interior to be more organic and natural feeling than I expected (since it's located inside the Lifetime Fitness Gym). I was introduced to Monique (my stylist) and she actually took the time to do a true consultation about my hair: what I wanted, what I had in the past, short term goals, long term goals, color, texture and on and on. I wanted to put color in my hair and she and I discussed lowlights and highlights. I was very impressed by the amount of time she put into figuring out my hair and what would look best. When I started going here in winter of 2005 my hair could barely tuck behind my ears and now I have hair that is a few inches below my shoulders! Monique made the hair growing experience less painful than it had to be. She always trimmed and styled my hair according to the stage of growth! Since 2005 I have moved to the central Phx area but still make the drive out to Gilbert to see her because she is amazing and I have complete trust in her abilities. If you are in the area please check them out. I have not tried any spa treatments there (mainly due to the amount of money I spend on the hair)! I do get low and high lights so the bill usually comes in around $120ish but I feel it's worth it since I only get my hair treated once every 3 months. My review is mostly for Julia, my waxer. She helped to make my first and subsequent experiences there more comfortable. There is a little private waiting room within the salon/spa and there is nice music and a small fountain. The girls bring you water while you wait. Maybe tea/coffee too, but I'm not sure. I want to go back to get my hair done and possibly get a mani/pedi. Any girls with me on that one? I purchased some hair products there too -- I recommend the Bumble & Bumble line. read more

I began seeing Jodi a few months before my wedding in an attempt to clear my face of some long standing acne as well as just improve overall skin tone and appearance. Jodi has taken the time and put a huge amount of effort to find the products, and the technique that will work with my extremely sensitive skin. Over the past several months my skin tone has gotten much improved, and the acne is almost entirely cleaned up. Jodi is a wonderful aesthetician and has gone way above and beyond in her efforts to help me for my wedding. A bonus to Jodi is she gives great massages during my facials! This was my first time at LifeSpa Gilbert and I had the pleasure of having my hair cut by Emilio V. He spent every minute of my appointment making me feel like a million dollars. He gave me an oil scalp treatment, a neck and shoulder massage, the best shampoo I've ever had, and a hand massage while my hair conditioned in the bowl. He then proceeded to give me the haircut I have been trying to achieve for YEARS but could not find a stylist to accomplish. He was patient with me and the amount of hair I have and took the time to make sure every strand fell perfectly even though his skills allows him to cut quickly! He put the perfect amount and type of product in my hair so that when he styled it fell perfectly around my face and my shoulders. I will be back to get foils with him. I would, and have, highly recommended him to everyone. I rated one star short of perfect simply because when I went to purchase the amazing shampoo and conditioner set, the shampoo was not in stock. Don't waste your money on this place. It's way over priced and there are hidden fees associated with the basic charges. Every service is based on the experience of the Spa staff member and won't be communicated to you until after you receive the bill. The manger will not help you and tell you to your face that you should have known. Also they change their prices when they want but won't have updated price list and just blame it on the computer or corporate. Also if you are a member of the gym and want use LT bucks that's a different price. $35 is way too expensive for a 5 year old little boy haircut. I trued multiple times to get this problem resolved and was just given the run around and was like to my face and it was all my fault. I went there twice for eye brow waxing. The person who did our eyebrows was Nancy. She didn't even ask what I needed. Starts waxing right away, She gets visibly upset if you try to tell her what you need for your eyebrows. I went there to shape it so I would expect her would listen first. She has an attitude. If I am a paying customer, I do expect customer service and a reply I speak to them. I paid the service in full I although my eyebrows turned out too thin and NOT what I was hoping for. I complained to the manager outside after I paid, She offered her apologies but that was it.. I sure hope they do something about their employees behavior toward the customers. A little behind on the review. Was out in Arizona to say goodbye to my aunt who was dying on a hospice of pancreatic cancer . Schedules a massage and manicure for my cousin Amy during my visit . My aunts only child . Very accommodating salon. I told then The situation and they were able to fit her in. However the massage therapists got the flu and they were kind enough to let us know and try to fit us in with another person , plus offered a discount for the change. I explained that it was a bit time conflicting and they understood. My cousin canceled the morning of due to needing to finish getting the funeral arrangements complete . The funeral was the next day. Needless to say, overwhelming for her . The spa was very gracious and understanding through it all. They had called back a number of times through it all trying to accommodate her and understood that a cancelation by my cousin was possible and not to worry. I would highly recommend this spa . On the suggestion of the other yelper I decided to visit Life Spa because I thought they would be using Aveda color for my highlights. My stylist Monique was very friendly and nice as she informed me that they now use Wella color. Oh well, I was already there so I decided to give it a try. The color was less than spectacular and I had to go back and get more highlights because my lowlights were too heavy. In Monique's defense it is hard to get my hair right the first time if you haven't done my hair before. Anyway the results were just so so, even after the retouch. I went in with the special from spa week for their $50 special for deep tissue. The session begin with the free usage of the gym which played very loud rock and roll music which is totally counter to what I am here for which is to relax and get the pain relief that I need. I have specifically asked her to apply deep pressure to my aching shoulder but she have never once check with me during the massage on how I am doing (would you like more pressure or less?) which is a must from a seasoned therapist. Once she reached a knot (I have many challenging ones due to my line of work-As a massage therapist myself and Casino Dealer), she just simply ignored it which showed lack of professionalism. That said, for someone who prefer light effleurage with the goal of relaxation, that would be the perfect marriage but there is absolutely no excuse for not checking and connecting with the client. The environment was superb once I got into the treatment room with first class surroundings of tranquilizing music which I truly enjoy from a high caliber spa. For someone who is used to getting their back walked on and have a neuromuscular therapy (Dr. Dalton's method) as a norm on what I really need in the treatment room, she just simply was way too soft. If she have made a effort and failed, I would not have a problem but no attempt was ever made which is a huge disappointment in my eyes either from the lack of expertise and or fear of finding the magnitude of the treatment that is required to get my ailment remedied. Since I have experience many therapist who have done it and failed, many apologized and I will give them bonus points for trying. After 40 minutes of unsatisfying treatment, I really should have walked out. The spa director had listened and gave me an extension an offer until the end of this month. The spa director suggested Erin who is the strongest therapist there but when I started to inquire about Erin's professional background to find out more information of a possibility giving them a second chance. She told me that Erin only have 3 years of experience (I needed someone who is a true master not just a graduate of a massage school with at least 5+ years). I have been going to Ti now for almost a year, and I have never seen such an improvement in my hair health in my entire life. I had dry, damaged, curly hair, and it never seemed to grow. After taking all of Ti's advice and seeing her every few months I LOVE my hair now, and it is the longest it has ever been since grade school!! I was disappointed with my hair cut. It was a dry cut and I wanted only half inch off. My hair is now 3 inches shorter all over. I asked for a half inch trim all over and a blow out for my conference today so I would look professional. When she blow dried the hair she pulled out big chunks and matted it badly. With the matted mess instead of combing lightly through she just tugged and pulled each one until they just broke through. I'm concerned I will have more split ends after the cut instead of before by the rough way it was blow dried. Sad. It was painful too. Also I asked for a blow out and the stylist said she asked "what kind of blow out". Duh how many kinds of blow outs are there? She said she wanted to do curls cos she is better at that. I specifically said no cos my daughter was waiting to go eat and curls would take to long. Stylist didn't say anything. Stylist blew out the right side and most of the left side then started curling it even though I said no curls. Then blew out the rest of the left side and made it more frizzy.
