I wanted a nice treat after a hike and I found this cute coffee shop. I will admit it was cozy and seemed to be pretty popular. I ordered two iced matcha lattes with vanilla syrup and it was so terrible. I paid around $13 for a watered down match that's only tasted like milk. Honestly should have returned it got my money back. My total was $18 which was crazy for two drinks and a cake pop, meaning the cake pop was about $5. Would not recommend, maybe their other drinks are good but will not return to find out. read more

Had one of the best lavender oat milk lattes here! It was just the perfect amount of lavender flavor, with a smooth creamy finish. Also picked up some coffee beans, that they kindly grounded up for me to use at home. The tasting notes were lavender, honey, and chocolate. Really glad I got them because my morning coffee has been delicious! There was only one barista working when I stopped by in the afternoon. Searched for this place, tucked in the back row of a business strip. Felt like walking into a speakeasy, dark walls and minimal outside lighting. It was like I was doing something illegal by going in to buy coffee. Had an oat milk latte with cinnamon and sugar, tasted like a Cinnamon Toast Crunch coffee. Every grownups favorite memory of the drinking the last bit of the swirl of cinnamon-sugar loaded milk! It was good, but now wowed. No public restrooms and would not come back to hang out. read more

Figured I might write something nice to a business I like after tearing another place a new, well-deserved sphincter. Lift Coffee is the bees knees. I've been a regular for almost two years now, and they've been the highlight of my mornings. I'm gonna use all the buzzwords for that sweet, sweet algorithm, but only because it's true. Got that chill study environment. Got that family friendly. Got that great coffee. Got that friendly and polite baristas and friendly employees. Got that pastries, coffee cake, scones. Got that delicious pour-overs, chai lattes, vanilla latte. Got that must try if you're in the Riverside area. Got that lofi hip hop mix - beats to chill/study to. Anyway, if you made it for the real stuff, the people here are super friendly and down-to-earth. The atmosphere really is top-notch, they have free water (!), the bathroom is so clean I know I'll never poop there out of sheer respect. Usually there's students, especially if it's finals season, but it stays quiet because the place is huge and the students are studying. The coffee is delicious and consistent, their beans are fresh, their seasonal drinks are usually pretty good and at the very least innovative (missing you, s'mores cold brew). They have good milk alternatives. They don't even charge you for oat milk on the lattes. And don't be scared to ask questions, specialty coffee shops are all a little different and these people are knowledgeable. One thing to note, this place is at the back of the building, but they do have signs once you're there. Anyway just go already. read more

i came here to study at 8am. whoever said that it's a "great study place" failed to mention the lack of outlets here because there's only one set and it's above a couch if you wanna run wires in public. there's free wifi though. anyway the girl who took my order (asian short hair) just left in the middle of the order???? like we got to the pay screen and i paid and she dipped to do other things while i was paying and it felt so awkward cause i've worked customer service before and usually they redirect you after. the pick up counter is the bar too and not the side counter. they didn't tell me that! i'm not looking for crazy customer service like i'm a college student too but it felt very abrupt like it's my first time and they're handing drinks all over! coffees good though but i probably won't come back knowing there's no outlets and weird service. read more

My husband and I were on a mission to check out the various independent coffee shops in the area and not just depend on Starbucks. Out of the three shops in Riverside we visited, this is our favorite once. The lavender latte both hot and iced are really good. When I first went there, they had a seasonal drink- coconut macadamia with coconut flakes. I hope they bring that back because it was really good iced. I never tried it hot. Love the Whittier location, but tried this place out of curiosity. I'm the type of guy that likes to chill and people watch while I finish my drink. There are so many great things about this place. Dogs are allowed. It's Palestinian owned. They offer a 20% student discount and a Yelp check-in discount. The honey is locally sourced. There is no surcharge for non-dairy milk. The coffee is roasted in-house by Diedrich Roasters and the coffee beans are sourced from all over the world. That's just to name a few. Lift is now located in a lot among commercial buildings. But don't worry, you'll find a refreshing painted mural on one wall, a drawing on another, all while keeping it simple and easy on the eyes. There's a variety of seating and lighting, and there are outlets for students. And the barista who helped us was kind and knowledgeable. And most importantly, the coffee. Excellent. Lift will be my new go-to coffee shop. The coffee is not too light and not too acidic. It's sweet, but not too sweet, and there is no burnt flavor. The cortado, lattes, and cold brew are excellent. But I'd get the latte with an extra shot of espresso. And I recommend anything honey. The lavender honey latte my brother got was so, so good. read more

BEST HAZELNUT LATTE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!! No seriously, I have hit quite a few coffee joints and this one has my heart. It has a subtle sweetness with the clean finish of that hazelnut I love so much. Don't get me started on the berry pastry I had either. That alone will have you crawling back for more. Service (4/5): The employees are nicer than average but the service isn't outstanding. They don't bring you your order (I think it'd be nice if they did) and when I was on crutches about a year ago they wouldn't remember that I ordered a drink. They would call my order repeatedly and I would have to come up to the bar on crutches and they would just laugh and be like, "oh my gosh sorry let me bring that to you." It would've been great customer service to just have remembered from the jump that I was alone and on crutches. Not sure if any other handicapped guest experienced the same thing but I hope not! Food/Drink (4/5): I basically order the same thing every time - iced mocha. I love really sweet drinks so I order that or the iced Nutella latte. The teas are earthy and don't taste great with sweetener imo so I stay away from them. They've also been on and off with having a microwave but I know they do right now to warm up pastries! I don't normally come on Saturday's but the one Saturday I did, and their vegan donuts were AMAZING. I don't like vegan food but this donut is sooooo yummy. Ambiance (5/5): My number of check-ins isn't a good reflection of how many times I've come here. I'd say I visit at least once a week and this has been for the past 3 years. The aesthetic is so nice and the quiet environment is absolutely perfect for studying. There's not a lot of outlets so I'd recommend bringing a power outlet! The tables with the soft couches are always taken but don't be afraid to ask the person already there to share the table. Guests are really nice and 95% of the time they'll say yes if they're not saving the seat for someone else! Price (2/5): Lets just say it's definitely more expensive than a venti at Starbucks. Probably not until they get more people in there was just one person working so it took forever to take my order. They were out of most pastries so I settled for a croissant which was stale!!! Hungry and suffering a mild caffeine headache, I stumbled into Lift. Couldn't have been more impressed. The coffee is locally roasted and full bodied without the bitterness. And the food! I just wanted a pastry, or something to take the edge off. I spotted a brunch menu and immediately and took my chances. The Under Chiefs have apparently set up shop in Lift on the weekends. Lift was a pleasant experience for studying and for getting my caffeine fix. The seating area is aesthetically pleasing and super roomy with plenty of indoor seating. The barista was kind. The bathroom was clean I ordered an ice latte and was surprised at its darker and more bitter flavor compared to Arcade's lattes. I have yet to try more drinks there, but I'd say it was more than enough coffee to keep me going. read more

We stopped here today and we were really surprised at how nice this place is!! It's in an industrial business park which makes it low key and not over crowded. Parking was easy. TL/DR: Yummy coffee, great study spot, lots of free parking I brought my sister here to study for finals, and she instantly loved this place. She's not a coffee person, but this place is definitely converting her! This place is so chill and hipstery, it kinda transports you away from the college scene which is refreshing. Food: 4.5/5 The classic vanilla latte is good ($4.49), but a tiny bit too sweet. It's great for kids trying to get into coffee though: it's smooth and light. The iced honey cinnamon latte is refreshing ($4.49). The cinnamon really spices things up. They serve Auntie's Bakery & Cafe sandwiches and wraps that they can heat up for you. I tried the roast beef sandwich ($8.50) and smoked turkey breast wrap ($7.50). The sandwich is really savory when it's warmed up, and the wrap is crisp and fresh. The only caveat is the price is steep for the size of the sandwiches, and the quantity of microgreens in the wrap was over whelming. It was really fibrous and clumped on one side so there was a good chunk of the wrap I didn't eat. Service: 5/5 The workers are so nice and accommodating! They helped customize my drinks, heat up the food, and serve the food to us on plates. They also walk the drinks to you if you're sitting down studying. Location: 5/5 This place is "tricky" to find because it's located at the back of a row of offices. It's actually pretty convenient because there's plenty of free parking right in front of the store. The storefront is very unassuming, but walk inside and it's completely different. The decor has a very rustic and industrial feel to it: reminds me of coffee shops in NY. There are tables and couches with plenty of outlets, and free fast WiFi: great for studying. There's music playing in the background, but it's not loud or distracting. I would say this place is more student and adult friendly. The coffee is yummy, the scenery is young and hip, and there's free parking and WiFi.
