What a gem of a discovery. This coffee shop has a lot of fun horror film decor, and themed drinks. They have some of the classics on their menu, but also have some themed drinks that are really fun. The service here is great as the gentleman behind the counter was super helpful and friendly when I came in and was deciding on what to order. I ended up getting one of 'the fogs'. The Cenobites Fog to be exact - a fun homage to Hellraiser. It was super tasty and had a fun little design on top. But seriously, this coffee shop is equal parts fun, horror film museum, and coffee shop. I was just thinking how much my nephew would love this place as he's really into horror movies. read more

Very overpriced, very underwhelming and very disappointing. $11 for a large basic oat milk latte with pumps of syrup and still have the audacity to ask for a tip definitely not. Not good coffee beans. If you're vegan coming here to try out the specialty lattes, just know apparently NONE of them can be veganized. You'll just have to get a standard coffee with pumps of syrup, which at that point you can easily make at home or get at any other coffee shop for literally half the price. The price doesn't justify the unpleasant location, the taste of the drinks, the interior or the customer service. You can literally get a latte cheaper and better than this in Newport Beach, OC/LA. Cherry on top is the customer service isn't the best, while in line there was one employee and a couple in front of me but when I arrived the couple had already ordered. The employee saw me and continued to just talk to the couple for about 5 minutes I was just standing there watching her talk about one of her previous trips, instead of making drinks and/or attending to me first. She could've easily told them to give her a minute, taken my order then continued the conversation with them while making drinks but her priorities weren't there. I felt ignored and I was about to walk out but I really had high hopes for this place and thought it would be just as good, if not better than Rad Coffee in Long Beach & Upland, it's not, first and last time I'll be here. They need to improve on many areas if they plan to survive in this economy because just being a horror themed coffee shop, isn't enough. read more

This review is not about the coffee or the customer service, but about an encounter with another customer. On Thursday, February 5 around 12pm, I had an uncomfortable experience inside this coffee shop and I want to make others aware of my experience. A man who seemed to be sitting inside the coffee shop for a while started making conversation with me. When he heard my daughter's name, he approached my husband and I and said his sister had the same name. While talking to us, he began touching my baby's feet without asking, which made me extremely uncomfortable. He then asked how old she was. I said 5 months, and he responded that she "looked fully developed." When my husband stepped away briefly, the man asked if he could hold my baby. I of course said no, that she has stranger danger and will cry. When my husband returned, the man walked away. I'm sharing this so parents who go in there with their kids stay alert and keep a close eye on them at all times. The coffee shop is intentionally dark because of its theme, but it makes it easier for someone to take advantage. read more

Obsessed with this coffee spot!!!!! Gosh, I wish there were more of these all around Southern California! I'm so happy they opened the Riverside location. Recently, they had a horror pop-up event. It was the perfect excuse to try out the coffee. It did not disappoint! All of the spooky names of the drinks were fun! I loved that they make designs of your favorite characters. I wanted to get the Mike Myers drink or the Jason one so I could have the face on my coffee lol Taste wise though I thought those would be too strong for me. I ordered the white chocolate raspberry drink and it was delicious! It had a sweetness and the white chocolate and raspberry flavor was yummy! First timers and we loved it! The vibes were spooky of course! The service was super kind we showed up 10 minutes before closing and we felt so bad we didn't want to be those people but the staff made us feel so welcomed and told us not to worry about it. They answered any questions we had and we ended up getting two blended drinks and a blueberry lemonade. My son loved his shark blood drink with the shark gummies on top. The blended drinks were just as great we'll have to go back for their espresso. We'll be back for sure! read more

Cute little stop on our way home from LA. It's a small little horror coffee shop filled with horror movie icon items. I got the red velvet Freddy Krueger iced latte, honestly was expecting super sweet. Was quite pleasantly sweet. Loved that it was read and green. My daughter got an Oreo blended drink(non coffee) she loved it, reminded her of a shake. It's a little ways from the freeway but I didn't mind the drive. When I pulled up to Roast of the Dead. I didn't expect much. The exterior was unassuming, with just a few people lingering outside looking at some items for sale on shelves. Always enjoy the first location. This place is not really in a good location but the inside is big. It feels kind of empty inside but the decorations are cool. I ended up getting Child's Play with extra shots of espresso. It was good and if I didn't add the shot of espresso it might have been too sweet for me. But the flavor is awesome! My wife loves Halloween and she's been wanting to come check this place out for a while. They were having an event this weekend with popups selling Halloween stuff. Fun spot to take some pictures and get some bomb ass coffee absolutely way better than Starbucks hands-down!! service was great even after the fact that the place was super full. I really enjoyed the very low lighting that really added to the aesthetic and creepy atmosphere. A great place to try out yourself or to WOW a date that likes horror movies and coffee. I ordered the Vorhees Fog and it was absolutely the best cold foam I have ever had. Nice and thick as not all cold foams, cream caps, soft tops etc. are equal! My coffee had 3 distinct color levels and I really enjoyed my coffee and the overall experience. Two people were working on a Saturday and they were friendly and quick with orders. Horror and coffee just work together. I can't explain it. It just DOES. So when I found that Roast the Dead Coffee opened a location in Riverside I knew I had to try it. Located in possibly one of the most low key strip malls in the city (behind Savers), Roast the Dead isn't something you'd find in passing. However you forget about all that once you walk in. The fun horror theme is at the forefront of this large dimly lit space. The menu is big and sometimes things get sold out. The drinks were delicious but not cheap! But what is these days? Service was super friendly and patient with this first timer. Location aside, Roast the Dead is an awesome little coffee shop. The service, interior and most important of all, the drinks were great. A hidden gem in Riverside! I couldn't picture a coffee shop in this shopping center but I was blown away with how great the inside looks. If you like horror, you'll love this place. As a huuuge horror film fan, I've been wanting to try this coffee shop for a while since moving to Corona, and I have to say I was not disappointed! As you're entering the location, it's dark and you see all their spooky decor, lots of awesome characters in there like Jason, Ghostface, and the Nun.The service is also really welcoming, shoutout to the kind employees for explaining their menu options and giving us some recommendations. We tried the Mental Mango green tea which had a really delicious green tea taste and sweet notes of mango. We also had the Vorhees Fog, (cold brew with marshmallow cold foam) it had a really cute chocolate "13" design on top of the cold foam, and the coffee itself is really good quality, super smooth and paired really well with the creamy marshmallow flavoring of the foam. Would 100% recommend coming here for both the thrilling experience and the tasty drinks! read more

I've been meaning to try this place for awhile! I came on a Thursday afternoon. Upon entering, I was immersed into complete darkness. Definitely fits a Halloween vibe! The only light seen was coming from the kitchen, the TV, and the neon signs they have displayed. They have horror movie displays like Friday the 13th around the shop. There was a dining area by the TV and a couch by the entrance. The TV was playing a horror movie, which I believe they play movies on all day. I walked up to the kitchen to look at their menu. I had a hard time deciding what to get, so I asked the barista what she recommended. She asked what I was feeling and I said coffee but not too strong. She recommended a latte and listed some options. I decided to get the toasted marshmallow, which I believe is the Voorhees fog. I didn't wait too long, probably only 2 minutes. The drink was completely orange, with orange whipped cream! Definitely unique. There were few people in the shop, some sitting by the TV, others by the couch. I loved the taste! They give discounts to healthcare workers if you show your ID badge! Extremely quick services with very, very tasty drinks with a festive Halloween element. It's super dark with Halloween movies playing. It's perfect for taking pictures, along not suited for long periods of time sitting in the area. I'd say it's a far better alternative to Starbucks or rad coffee, as long as you keep in mind their schedule, as it's pretty wonky. read more

First off this little spot has the best indoor decor for a coffee shop. It's so cute and as soon as you walk in the theming really puts you in the spooky mood. The vibes here are 10/10. The menu has tea, cold brews, frappes, and hot coffees. As far as the drinks go this is where my stars went sadly I was disappointed. It's not bad but one of my drinks was made with instant espresso and cold brew which left a very strong taste. I also had the fog version which was way better but I wanted to love the drink so badly. Again the place is a fun shop and the hours are limited compared to some shops in the area but it's a fun stop. The service was excellent and the staff is always friendly. sleepy hollow latte is alright..wasn't my favorite but it is very pretty visually. i feel like the flavors clash a bit much. i like strong coffee but it felt too strong ? and therefore bitter but the cold foam was sweet then apple a little sour. i had to put more milk to be able to drink personally. i'd stick with the regular menu. loved the helter skelter tea (black tea with lemonade, peach, and blood orange) and the voorhees (toasted marshmallow) was yummy as well! read more

A horror fans dream! Still up and coming but they have some really cool displays! It is pitch dark inside so it definitely keeps with the theme. I've been a few times & both times I've had a great experience. The staff is really nice & helpful! The pumpkin latte w/oat was so good and honestly the best alternative I've found. I will say it is on the expensive side! I paid $10 for a 24oz however most places have raised their prices and I get you're paying for the ambiance!
