Amongst plants added we are very fond of Nelly, our new Japanese Maple who we understand loves changing with the seasons! Marshall replanted our overgrown daylillies to the front of our house and added what we know will be gorgeous variegated pink azaleas for accent color and low maintenance! He included a birdbath and added a couple large stones even as late requests from us, even edged our ragged old front sidewalk to the front door with stone that fits in ever so nicely. Marshall has a remarkable work ethic. Shows up when he says he will, is diligent and responsible with his work and was careful of our property as he worked. He gave us a clear picture of what he planned and worked happily with us to incorporate our ideas. I recommend him to anyone who has landscaping needs. He is a person who you can trust to perform the work honestly at a fair price using good plants and materials who truly loves and as he should takes pride in what he does each day.

AWFUL experience working with Amy Anderson. We hired Anderson Landscapes in October 2021, Amy came…read moreto our house, we discussed our ideas and wants and we got our 3D design a month and a half later. Folks, that design was so BAD that I struggle to find the right words to describe it without being offensive. My fiancé was so put off by Amy's design that he just wanted to take the $850 loss and walk away; he didn't even want to work with her to try to fix it, it was so bad that he didn't think it'd be salvageable. Most of the things that we told her we wanted were not included and those that were included were done poorly and carelessly. Not only did she ignore or forgot most of what we had asked her for, but what she did design was messy, barely functional and not aesthetically pleasing. Some examples of Amy's design: - Plants with huge thorns ALL around the walkways and existing pool - Stairs off our deck that dead-end into an existing privacy wall and trees (so you can't actually get anywhere). - Our only outdoor faucet completely blocked off. - We told her we were thinking about changing our back door for French doors - so in her design she changed our existing windows for French doors and left the regular door right next to it. - We told her we'd like to extend our deck, so she extended it and added two sets of stairs: the aforementioned set of stairs to nowhere and another set that ends about 6 inches from an existing concrete planter. - We told her we wanted to replace the palm trees we lost in the freeze, she ignored us. - We told her we didn't want Cypress trees, she covered our backyard in them. - We told her we wanted shade all over the exiting patio, she designed a pergola that covers only half the patio and with one of the support beams smack in front of an existing smoker. I understand that maybe she couldn't design the pergola we wanted if there were structural or permit constraints, but she didn't explain any of it to us and, to this day, I have no idea why she designed only a half-pergola. - We told her we wanted to xeriscape the side yard, she ignored us and didn't even include the side yard in the design. - We told her we wanted storage under the existing deck, she ignored us. - We told her we wanted an outdoor kitchen (with a sink, a Green Egg and storage) - she added a grill. I, not wanting to just take the $850 loss, emailed Amy with a long list of everything she missed or did carelessly. She was sort of apologetic and said she would re-do it and get back to us "soon". A month later I had to email her asking what was going on as I hadn't heard from her. She made up some excuse about the holidays and said she would have our design in two days. Four days later she did send the new 3D design and, while it wasn't exactly what you would expect from a professional designer, it was much better than the first. She said she would have the 2D design the next day - it's been 50 days. Three weeks after, I emailed her asking for an update. Then again the week after. And again. And again. You get the drift. She didn't answer a single email. I eventually called. And called. And called. You get the drift again. She blocked my number. It took about 50 (ignored) phone calls to two different phone numbers, texts and a couple angry voicemails to get Amy to finally reply. All she said was that they weren't going to bid on our project (as if I would work with them ever again), that she had explained that in her email from 50 days ago (she hadn't) and that if I had a construction company, then she would send THEM the 2D design. So here we are, 5 months after hiring Anderson Landscapes - our backyard is still a mess - but we now have a barely ok 3D design, a 2D design being held hostage and a shady company ignoring our requests for a follow-up. Oh, and we got to pay $850 for this hassle. If that's the experience you want when re-doing your backyard, then by all means, hire Anderson Landscapes. But if six months from now you'd rather be enjoying your backyard oasis instead of dealing with a mediocre, rude, shady company and googling "how to open a BBB complaint", then I'd recommend you stay away from Anderson. They do have some good reviews from years ago but I'd suggest you pay attention to the newer ones as something has definitely changed. There are so many landscaping/hardscaping companies out there, trust me when I tell you, it's not worth your time or money to take a chance on this one (and I wish I'd known that 5 months ago).

I hired Anderson Landscape to do a landscape…read moredesign for our custom home, having not included one with the original build (big mistake on our part). Amy was on time, prepared, and was very considerate and engaging with my 4 yo daughter who insisted on participating in the design consultation with us. Amy listened to my ideas, took the time to understand what was most important functionally and aesthetically, and asked a series of follow up questions that made me realize that she has clearly done this many times before. She took measurements and photos and said she would have the design to me at specific date. All I had to do was send a survey plot. Amy's design was emailed when she said it would be, and was far better than I could have expected or imagined. The design was not a top-down, 2D mockup, but rather a 3D color, POV animated video walk through so we could see the design from all angles, including from the street so we could visualize the upgraded curb appeal. Amy also sent us the Texas guide for native and adapted landscape plants so we know exactly which plants to buy where to place them per the design, should we end up doing the installation ourselves. All in all excellent service. Highly satisfied. Strongly recommend.

Not impressed so far. It took weeks to get the original quote for the landscaping work…read more Have used them for about a year now & they keep billing me for work that I have already paid for and sent screenshots to prove payment. Not really sure why every billing cycle for the last 5 months has been incorrect. Have asked for corrected invoices multiple times and they just don't care enough to correct them. Service is meh. Not any worse than any other mowing service, but for the premium price they charge and the billing aggravation, it should be better than average. They have also left my gate wide open after leaving, so my dogs aren't safe. I will probably end up finding another mowing service if I get one more incorrect invoice.

There's also some area that gets too much rain (drainage issue) and the grass is dead because of it and soil got washed away. I reached out to Adrian and before you know it, the crew has transformed my backyard into zero grass space in a matter of days and now I actually like spending time in my backyard. His crew always on time each morning and they clean up before they leave each day which is a nice surprise. The project was completed earlier than planned which really made my day! I'm a tough critic with contractors. Detail-oriented, a bit of a perfectionist, and probably not…read morethe easiest homeowner to work with. So I don't say this lightly: Laguna Landscaping is by far the best contractor I've ever worked with. We've now used them at two houses. After getting a pool built by a different company, we brought them in to redo all of our landscaping, and working with Frank has been seamless. It was a large project and every detail was accounted for. With all contracting projects there are minor mistakes and oversights, because as the homeowner I know exactly what I envisioned and they're juggling three or four jobs. When our pool was being built by Denali Pools, I felt like I had to project manage every step. Laguna was the polar opposite. The team was always happy, always polite, even waved when you saw them. Frank turned up after we'd finalized the designs and suggested an extra planter and a tweak to the paving stones, both better than what we'd planned. When something wasn't right, there was no defensiveness. It's a large project, we expect a few tweaks. For example, the wrong lights got installed along the pathway. I contacted Frank and it wasn't a debate, it was "we'll change them." Then he came back and told me the lights I described were different from the original plan, he checked that I actually wanted spotlights, and confirmed before ordering. He listened to what I'd asked for over the original plan. The communication was on point. Every question got answered, and his suggestions were consistently better than anything I'd anticipated. Little things too, like laying drop cloths after the pool work so nobody trailed dirt through the yard. That care shows in the output and along the way. Laguna also does regular yard maintenance, and after this experience we're moving all our ongoing landscaping to them. My one hesitation going in was cost. This isn't a cheap project and Laguna isn't a cheap company. However, they are worth every dollar. At our previous house we'd had a cheaper company build a retaining wall, and Laguna had to come fix it. The quality, the detail, the thinking outside the box, the double-checking before they order anything, it's incredible. Next level service, next level professionalism, next level care. I'd recommend them to anyone, always. If there was a rating higher than 5 stars I would give it to them.

Divine Outdoors is another business owned by Daniel Zamora and/or Raphael Zamora. The Zamoras just…read morekeep opening new businesses after the other ones get too many negative reviews or get served with too many lawsuits. Avoid Daniel Zamora at all costs (and look at the negative reviews for Tailored Pools to get a true sense of what you are dealing with when you engage with the Zamoras' businesses). The nightmare that is our experience with Daniel began over a year ago. Not only does our pool remain unfinished, our entire yard is completely unusable and in a state of disrepair. Necessary permits were not secured and requests for inspection reports ignored. We are now trying to undo the problems he created in this build. Despite collecting over 95% of the contract price, he abandoned the job leaving a significant amount of work undone. Specifically, they did not finish plastering, backfilling, electrical, plumbing, coping, decking, inspection, lighting, fencing or clean up. Here are just a few of the issues we experienced: (1) dishonesty; (2) no project management - random workers would come and go without any oversight and frequently without notice leaving us to try to muddle through instructions without plans or direction; (3) lack of responsiveness - as soon as the contract was signed and the first check in hand Daniel was difficult to get in touch with frequently leaving messages unanswered for days/weeks; (4) scheduling issues -- despite repeated promises they did not hit deadlines and constantly pushed back work, the excuses for which becoming increasingly far-fetched as time went on (5) deviation from design and missteps; and (6) lack of worker/subcontractor controls.
