It's been quite a while since I stopped by here. Last time, I was treated rudely because I only ordered a non-alcoholic drink instead of a bottle of wine, etc. Unfortunately, I grabbed a bottle of water today and once again, the employee acted like I was a jerk. There's clearly something wrong with this place. Maybe they have a great wine or beer selection. But if they don't want to sell non-alcoholic products, they should stop stocking them. This place was recently renovated. It was a little run down before, but now it is clean. The biggest change was the ownership. The new staff is much more professional and helpful than the previous staff. They have a great beer selection and the prices are what you would expect for a local store. The wine selection is quite large. In my opinion they should devote more space to modestly priced wine. There are too many bottles that are out of range for a quick BBQ or Friday night party. read more

For the size and location, this place has a pretty dialed selection of beers and booze-they even had a selection of mezcal when mezcal was still barely a thing. They're a little hidden away, but if you're in need of a bottle for a gift or just looking for something different for a weekend refreshment, Light Rail probably has something for you. I wouldn't call it the best liquor store in Colorado (maybe if it was bigger) but it's certainly is better than many small stores I've visited in that area of Denver. read more

This liquor store is close to my house, so we've been stopping by here more than Applejack lately. There are a couple of 20-30 something year old guys who work here, and they are as nice as can be. They offer suggestions and alternatives as needed, which is so helpful. I think their prices are in line with other liquor stores, as far as I know. This is a great little place that's easily missed in the neighborhood, unless you go to Bono's or the Yogurt place next door. From the outside it looks like any other liquor store, but the inside is like Whole Foods meets Trader Joe's. There's a great pick-6 area if you want to build your own 6-pack of beer, plenty of local brews along with national ones, and a good hard liquor selection. What's really surprising is the wine room - yes, an entire room filled with wines, wine reviews, and wine-related decor. There are no creepy guys watching TV behind the counter, just friendly men and women who are clean-cut and enjoy talking about the different wines with you. If you go somewhat regularly, they remember your name, say hi, and will make recommendations of sale wines based on what you normally buy. It's a really homey, friendly place. Can't recommend it enough if you're looking for a decent, local liquor place in Lakewood and want to avoid the Big Box Marts. read more

Upon reading some of the reviews of Yelp, I decided to stop in as I was in the neighborhood. Another review made it seem like Lighthouse was quite the neighborhood liquor store gem. I found it to have an average selection, but nothing to get too excited. Maybe things have changed sine some of the earlier reviews. I popped in, but was disappointed in the selection and left shortly thereafter. I wouldn't go out of my way to return, but the selection was sufficient for most alcohol(-ic) needs. read more

I stopped in here after work. I mentioned that the wine I was buying was $6 more a bottle than I usually pay. The clerk signed and says "so you have never taken an economics class" I don't neev the hourly checking me out to try and be an elitist. He proceeded to compare applejack to Walmart and said to shop local. Last I checked AJ isn't a national chain. Left very annoyed a $6 mark up on 12 is pretty significant. read more

Wow! They refused to let me 4 year old use the restroom. Then I was allowed then I wasn't. I sent management an email... here's the response. (Notice - I accidentally entered the wrong date. Funny "management" that didn't sign a name or contact stated "(we have cameras for a reason)!" They must check these all day everyday? "for a number of very good reasons,store policy not to open our restroom facilities to the public.The clerk you spoke with did his job.He is both very well liked and professional.l I would apologize if he didn't look you in the eye and inform you of this policy in an acceptable manner,however I believe he did in this case(we have cameras for a reason)! Bad customer service. Cashier was rude. Long beared guy. He never ask how I was doing or if I found everything ok. Instead he ask me if I was old enough to be buying alcohol. I'm 36 years old. After I paid for my beer he left the receipt on the counter for me to sign and walk outside to say hi to a friend. Really. Never gave me a receipt or even say "have a good day". For a small liquor store, I was pleasantly surprised that they had such a diverse selection of craft beers. I saw some beers here that I've never seen at Applejacks or any other liquor store I've been to in Colorado. Thy dont' have a huge variety but what they do have is pretty unique. The staff is always very friendly and more than willing to help you out. The first time I came here was the day before Thanksgiving to pick up a bottle of wine. I had no idea what type of wine to get because I had no clue what everyone liked. I started talking to one of the guys working and he was great. He knew a lot about wine and made a few recommendations. I really appreciated this, especially since he explained to me why he recommended each bottle of wine. I'm no wine expert but with his help I was able to leave with a great bottle of wine that everyone enjoyed. Same goes for beers, if you ask, they'll help you select something good. Just tell them the type of beer you're interested in. For a while I was frequenting Applejacks because it was convenient to go to on the way home, but I doubt I'll be going there anymore after rediscovering this place. read more

This is a great little little liquor and wine store located near the hotel's of Lakewood, like the Sheraton, the Home2 Suites, Marriott properties, and the Homewood Suites. Very wide and diverse collection of wines, including a section of Colorado wines, French, and various other locations and types - the cooler for whites is at least five doors, and ranges from budget bulk wines to Fancy chardonnays. Prices are decent. The overall wine room was probably 50 feet by 30 feet back in a corner of the store. Also had a nice selection of port, liquor, and mixers. Probably the best for those who are traveling is that they have a giant wall of small quantities of liquor bottled, including higher-end whiskeys and your typical behind the counter varieties - we would guess there were over a hundred and fifty different types of small bottles available. Friendly cashier and people on the floor to help you. Tons of whiskey selections as well. This reminded us of Our local small liquor store that we love. read more
