The bartenders were very pleasant, and they came out to the patio to give our 15 week old husky mix puppy pets and treats. The house made beers were top notch. There was a food truck serving Turkish doner kebabs that were really delicious. We'll happily return to this excellent establishment the next time the winds blow us to Golden.

We took our glasses up to the rooftop patio. The view there is a strange study in scale. Below you is the rushing water of Clear Creek. Directly across the street sits the colossal industrial fortress of the Coors Brewery, churning out millions of barrels of macro-lager for the masses. There is a grand, quiet irony in standing on a roof, meticulously pouring four ounces of a highly specialized, small-batch sour beer while staring at one of the largest single-site breweries on the planet. When you are done, there is no agonizing wait for a server to bring a leather folder, and no competitive arithmetic over how to split the bill. You simply drop your plastic card into a collection box by the door and walk out into the Colorado night. The system automatically tallies your ounces and appends an 18% service fee to keep the house running smoothly. The ricotta, though, was missing in action (we never got it), just like our server, who never once checked on us after taking our order. I think he said maybe three words to us the entire time we were there. We left hungry, frustrated, and disappointed by the service (or lack thereof).

I've been there a few times, and one of the employees in particular just comes across as being very erratic. The last time that I went in there, he took the bottle of wine I was trying to buy and started to slam it on the counter. Until that point, we didn't have any conversation at all so I was worried about his state of mind (thankfully the bottle didn't break).
