Really special menu. Sandwiches, Paninis, Bagels, Croissants, and of course delicious coffee choices. We got the iced cinnamon bun coffee that was so perfectly sweet it hit the spot. We also got a Spanish latte hot and that had a nice kick of cinnamon as well. Avocado bagel was fresh and fantastic. Not to mention, their layout of the place is very big yet cozy. My MIL came into town to visit and her and I are both coffee lovers and wanted to try a new place. We decided on Light Bulb Coffee. It is a super cute & clean coffee shop in a good location. The bagels and pastries were sooo delicious, coffee was okay but the customer service or lack there of was terrible. Both employees I talked to/encountered were incredibly rude. First time here and it was a pretty good experience. Updated interior has a trendy feel. I ordered the Cali Pistacho and it was excellent. It isn't too noisy inside so it's a great place to have a conversation. Of course, I went on a Monday night so who knows what this place looks like on the weekends. They have a few paninis on their menu and a few other things too. Lots of indoor seating and a couple of tables outside. They also have a cool little library in the corner. New ownership alert!!! Highly recommended!!! The new owners have taken this place to the next level. They provide a fantastic variety of quality drink options and they serve delicious deli sandwiches using Boar's Head meat. My favorite 2 drinks are the Cali Pistachio and Turkish Hazelnut coffee :) I love coming here because the owner is welcoming and the staff, especially Jeremiah and Jocelyn, are very friendly and welcoming which creates a wonderful atmosphere! They make sure that the coffee is made exactly how you like it and are very courteous! All ages are welcomed, great taste in music, super clean, and very nice decor. This is a cute spot in La Mesa, an ideal place to go study or get some work done. I believe they have WiFi but I don't remember what their outlet count was like. I ordered an iced matcha latte & it was mediocre. I think they use a green tea concentrate and it's waaay too sweet for my preferred taste. If you're sensitive to sweetness in your matcha too then, I don't think this is the matcha for you. I ordered it in the lightbulb which is an added $7!! I personally don't think it's worth it, it makes for a cute picture but that's about it. The food was also okay, I ordered a bagel breakfast sandwich and it was alright, certainly nothing to brag about. Overall, I definitely didn't have a bad experience but everything to me was simply mediocre. They did have some baked goods that looked yummy that I might consider going back to try. read more

I used to go here a lot for group projects last semester. They have a long high table that's perfect for group studying. It's a large and spacious coffee joint with outlets everywhere. Perfect for students! Today is my first time here since finishing finals last December, and they've revamped it quite a bit. It used to have a more minimalist look, but they've added local artwork, 2 loveseat sofas, a plethora of decorations, and lots of signage about catering and delivering to local businesses. The coffee menu is still the same, but they've added acai bowls and other snacks such as gourmet chocolates by the pound. I'm a fan of their old minimalist look, but I'm also glad that they're getting more business and that things are more lively now :) Their coffee is still the same, which is great! I usually order the blended vanilla latte with soy. Their drinks are more on the sweeter side, so if you like your coffee less sweet, I would specify beforehand. Loved this place! I used to come here back when I was in high school but then it was the typical Starbucks and now it's this gorgeous cute coffee shop in middle of the downtown. The atmosphere is the best part, a lot of diversity there are people working student of all kind! Overall loved it. I order the bagel lux and some coffee I believe it was the choco coconut and it was so good! I wish I lived close to here, it would most definitely be my go to place! read more

I went into light bulb today and was so very disappointed. I went in with my kids to order a coffee and something to eat for the kids. When we first entered, a man and woman were both behind the counter, on their phones. There was no greeting, eye contact, nothing at all. My son was looking at the food menu for a bit and was asking me questions about it. When we were ready, I stood in front of the pastries (right in front of both people) and said excuse me. Neither one looked up or acknowledged me. I said it again and the girl looked up, the gentlemen still had not (pretty sure he was a manager even, which is crazier to me). She answered one of my questions, AS SHE WAS STILL LOOKING AT HER PHONE! I said I was ready to order, my son ordered a bagel and she then says the kitchen closed about 10 minutes prior...if she looked up even once, before, she would have noticed that we were looking at the food menu and talking about it for some time, why not say something beforehand? - oh, that's right, she was on her phone. She didn't notice. Anyway, we said okay, he was asking about the pastries and as we are in front of the register, in the midst of ordering and him having questions, she was still on the phone! It was probably the most disrespected I have been in the customer service industry. What got me most was that I guarantee she had no idea what we looked like, or who was with me, because her face was glued to her phone. I could not believe how rude it was. After ordering a cookie she asks, is that it? Then I ordered a coffee and again, "is that it?" Oppose to, "anything else I can get for you?" Or something of that sort. To be honest, I wouldn't be upset about the verbiage so much if she wasn't looking at her phone the whole entire time she was taking our order and even prior to that. I am so disappointment. I will never return to this establishment. I have come a few times before, a couple years ago, and thought it was so good and loved the atmosphere. However, to have THAT type of person representing your establishment will turn people away. ------ Response to management: Okay, so despite the "time stamp" of the time we ordered and when the kitchen closed, while looking at your cameras are you just going to completely ignore the fact that your employee was looking at her phone the whole time we were there? I didn't care that the kitchen closed at 5, but had she seen us looking at the food menu, she could have stated that it was closed. There was no promptness. Texting while working shouldn't be acceptable while a customer is in front of you. I've been in customer service all my adulthood, I know what should be done and what shouldn't be done. If I was trying to get something free, I could understand your defense. I am just never coming back because of how rude it was. And if you really want to prevent it from happening further, you should have a talk with your employee: because when my son was asking what the pastries were, she did not respond. I responded with a question, after waiting for her to respond to him. So, please actually LISTEN to the camera recording, not just what your employee has to say about it. read more

I've never been here before and I'm so glad that I came in. The staff is very friendly. Place is super clean. The business is under a new owner and I love supporting small businesses. They have ample seating. The ambience is great. Plenty of free parking and their hours are longer than most of the other coffee shops in the area, in which I looooooove. I also like that the building has private security so that you don't have to worry about transients bothering you. Lots of selections to choose from and my panini was on point. Has WiFi as well. My family is done with their food and all being patient took me 30 minutes to ask to be check. They really forgot my order. So disappointed today. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee which was strong and delicious and I ordered the veggie bagel sandwich. The sandwich made me sad I actually threw it away after two bites. OK SERIOUSLY - just had one of the BEST paninis EVER!!! Their menu was endless soooo much to choose from but I'm beyond happy with my choices. The coffee was nice and chocolatey and smooth I would take small sips just to enjoy every moment. It's one of these places you have to keep coming back to try their entire menu. The place is spacious and nice couches and coffee tables to sit at whether your studying or meeting up with a friend to chat or just going somewhere to sit to enjoy a good coffee and sandwich. saturday jul 27 - Im a huge supporter of the shop, being a La Mesa business owner myself but today I had a not so great experience. I placed my sandwich via doordash, waited about 10 mins in my office hoping that once I walked in it would be ready for me as it usually is, but it wasnt. Even doordash notified me that my order was ready. It was extremely odd as there were only 3 other customers in the shop already seated enjoying their orders while mine wasnt ready yet. Once checking in the first time with this employee she said my sandwich will be out in just a little. I go sit down and wait about 10 more minutes. strange. I go up again and the same girl asks me if im waiting for anything else and I tell her im just waiting on the sandwich. 10 more minutes pass I am upset wondering why I am waiting so long and the same girl asks me if ive received my order before handing me the bag on the counter... was it there the whole time?? but i was there sitting and waiting the whole time! I was really upset having realized I waited for so long when there was literally no one else in the shop ordering. The 4 employees on the floor seemed to be focusing on anything but fulfilling my order and did not even have the courtesy to let me know it was done. Just careless service from the one girl who gave no acknowledgement or apology to the fact that I was waiting there for so long! I ordered the Mexican Spice Coffee because they were unfortunately out of the Nitro Cold brew:( but it tasted great! Amazing hints of gingerbread, cinnamon and some chocolate! The service was alright and there was basically no lines to wait in. The ambience of the restaurant is a little confusing with the Lightbulb theme and Farmhouse vibes. Too many Horse pictures for my liking and almost all of them were crooked haha but felt very Homey! Then I asked for a lox bagel and she refused to make it because she's alone and too busy. She said it would take 25'minutes and so she's not doing food because there are drink orders before mine. This place is super cute!!! Its very large so it's good for college or high school kids who wants to eat, drink great coffee, and have a sandwich or snacks. They also have a bookcase where you can take and leave a book. They have a variety of gluten free foods and wide range of dairy free option. I order the lavender latte, gluten free lemon bar, and coffee bomb. They are all delicious and would definitely recommend this place. Oh and customer service is excellent!! This quaint coffee shop is such a cute spot. I love the decor, I mean who doesn't like horses. I've been here several times as I work just around the corner and the staff is always fast and efficient. But I must say that the clientele that sometimes frequents this spot can go somewhere with their negativity. I have had the food on multiple occasions and their almond croissant is bomb, I think the owner makes the pastries. I don't have any pics bcuz I either eat or drink it too fast before I can take a pic. My go to drink is always the iced mocha with oat milk and my new fav syrup flavor is cherry. I love this coffee shop! They have amazing coffee & food. The atmosphere is always so nice when I walk in and the inside of the store is a must check out! The theme of the shop is such a cool, fun idea. :) I have ordered food and picked it up/delivered as well as gone in to order. My ordeal is always made exactly to my liking. The staff is very friendly even during some tough rushes. Parking is easy and free, and there are both inside and outside seating.
