This restaurant has the greatest breakfast ever. I wandered in this morning and ordered corn beef hash with one fried egg over easy and it came with delicious hash browns and an English muffin (grilled to order). It was delicious. Really nice place. Looking forward to going back and working my way through the rest of the menu. read more

I am so impressed with this place. I drove by on my way home from CVS this morning wanting breakfast but not wanting to stop anywhere. Noticed this place with it's breakfast sign and thought I would wait until I get home to see if they offer delivery; they do. Ordered a veggie omelet that came with toast and hash browns. Also ordered the french toast with apples, bananas, cinnamon, etc. GrubHub gave me an hour delivery time. It came in about half that time. The sizes are huge! The french toast is out of this world! So thick and fluffy, just fully covered with the apples and bananas. Omelet so full of veggies and good. I have never been a big fan of breakfast food, but now I am! The appearance of the restaurant doesnt look like much from the outside, but dont let that fool you! read more

I LOVE this place! The omelets are delicious and the eggs benedict is by far my favorite. An amazing atmosphere as well.

This is a great, comfortable spot for a solid, affordable breakfast. No complaints about the Blue Moon, and the grilled muffin was a treat. The chocolate chip pancakes were tasty but don't fill the plate - splurge on some bacon for a side. Our only complaint was the hash browns, but they weren't terrible. I love this place for breakfast foods. The portions are amazing for the cheap price. Everything tastes great too. I'm removing a star for the dinginess of it, the salt shakers seem to have something gross in them every time I've gone. The ketchup bottles look like they haven't been washed in months. These idiots never sent my food out for delivery. I called them an hour after I ordered and they asked me where it was supposed to be delivered to, I told them, and after a few minutes of her searching she says it should be there. Then she said oh wait it's right here I'm about to bag it and the delivery driver is sitting in his car. By the time we got the food, almost 2 hours later, it was ice cold. They didn't take anything off of the bill and charged me the whole price. The food is pretty good, when hot, but the service is absolute garbage. We went here based on yelp reviews and were blown away! What an absolutely delicious breakfast! We walked in and were immediately greeted by friendly staff and seated in the dining area that does lack in decor, but contrary to some reviews was not at all dark, dingy or cramped. The windows let in plenty of light and the tables provided plenty of room to eat. As for the food? OUTSTANDING. My husband, the king of omelettes and of being ever the food critic, raved about his ham and Swiss omelette made standard with FIVE eggs, and accompanied by perfect hashbrowns and a bagel that was buttered and grilled. Others in our party ordered the stuffed french toast that was stuffed with fresh bananas in a delicious sauce, and egg combos that had us smiling the entire time we ate. Coffee was always filled as soon as our cups were emptied and it was all very reasonably priced! We decided on only four stars only because their bathroom facilities left much to be desired,but just find a bathroom elsewhere in order to experience this delightful establishment. read more

Was a bit nervous after reading some of the other reviews. Food sounded good but from what they said about the atmosphere. Well, they have had a facelift and the place looks great. We were seated right away for breakfast, and our server came right over. She was new and had to ask for some help with the questions we had (everyone is new once, no big deal), but the other server she asked was also new. Our food came out within 10 minutes and was excellent. Definitely worth the money, and it was $32 for three of us. Our only complaints were that she never checked back, or refilled our coffee. And we waited about 20 minutes for the check. But the restaurant filled up and I believe that both servers on were a bit overwhelmed. We did not hold it against them as they were both new. I am sure next time will be better. Can't wait to go back!! read more

I ordered delivery through Foodler and it took about an hour and a half. My coffee was cold, my breakfast was soggy and room temperature. The best part of my order was the orange juice because that already comes cold. I will never order again from then and highly recommend you do nit either if getting delivery. read more

I have DREAMED about the apple cinnamon pancakes from this place. I live about 45 mins away and make excuses to drop by. I love the breakfast burrito here, too. The Blue Moon is also a fave. Yes, I must agree about the "decor". I'm a Medford girl, having grown up in the Mystic Valley, and can remember this place when it was Ye Olde Lanthorne. I think before that, it was a Pewter Pot. For you young uns, that means quasi Colonial dark wood walls and beams, fake-o lanterns hanging everywhere, portraits of Minute Men, and maybe if you're lucky, waitstaff in Colonial garb. See my review of Leslie's Retreat, a place that has NOT changed its decor since the '70's and you'll get the picture. Anyhoo, when the Lighthouse took over it made a half hearted attempt to make the place look brighter. You'll notice "pegs" on the wall for coats, hearking back to the "Colonial" days, and even a plaque on the wall commemorating the name "Ye Olde Lanthorne". The place really needed a good ripping apart to the studs to get the ghost of Paul Revere out of it, but the Lighthouse was hoping a coat of paint would do the trick. Oh yeah, and the real Paul Revere rode by outside during his famous ride, he really did. So you never know about that ghost. OK since my review has now become almost entirely about the decor, or lack of it, I might as well take it on home. The building used to be the Medford Opera House. You would never know that from looking at the current facade or tenants, but this used to be a truly grand old building and still is in some ways. So after you load up on pancakes, step outside and imagine an opera house. Sigh. read more

Not even an apology from them! The most annoying part is that when we looked up where they actually are (we ordered off Foodler), turns out they are RIGHT down the street from us!! I really wanted to like the Lighthouse Cafe. After seeing the good reviews I thought we'd find some good breakfast food at a decent price. The portions were large, but the only thing that really tasted good was the hash browns. The eggs had no flavor, the corned beef hash came out of a can. Breakfast Burrito is amazing. The hashbrowns are a little smokey flavored and taste pretty good with ketchup.

I had passed this cafe several times and finally went in for breakfast. Decor is lacking and on the cheap side. Flooring is uneven. Waitstaff is friendly and kitchen is prompt with orders. Went here because it's down the street from where I live and I've walked by it hundreds of times thinking I should check it out. The atmosphere is kinda of dated and plain. Staff was very nice but food was below average. Not awful just not good. The hash browns tasted like freezer burn and weren't very hot in the inside. Eggs kinda bland and overcooked. English muffin under Benedict soggy. Also once it got slow I noticed the kitchen staff sitting at a table in the front of the house. That's always a bad sign when they have nothing to do. Let me note first that I ordered delivery, not in-house. I don't know if it was because I ordered close to closing or what, but my order was disappointing. My "famous French toast" appeared to have been lightly brushed with egg and heated just long enough for the egg to cook; the inside of the thick bread slices was completely uncooked. By the time my order arrived the French toast was cold, and there was no cinnamon sugar mixed in with the egg nor any whipped cream on top, both of which were included in the menu description. My hash browns were not much warmer at room temperature, which is too bad as if they had been hot they probably would have been pretty good. My orange juice was typical orange juice, though it was a bit strange to drink it out of the coffee cup in which it was delivered. Though I was really hungry when my food arrived, I had to force myself to eat my cold, bland French toast. I respect that most of the reviews on here are positive, but personally I don't plan to order from here again. read more

After the new ownership, the Lighthouse Cafe has better atmosphere. The staff are still very friendly. There are a variety of omelette, but the overall menu is pretty simple. The only downside is the food is less tasty than it used to be. The servers were nice and constantly checking on your drinks. Food service is on the slow side, I order an omelette and it took almost half an hour to come out from the kitchen. And it was not busy, which is I really don't understand. read more

So after being charged a delivery fee and there being a 15 dollar minimum, I waited over an hour for soggy food to get to me. On top of that, the coffee I ordered was lukewarm and didn't have cream like I asked. What do i get? Two measly microwaved bacon and an egg that wasn't cooked as specified. The pancake I also ordered is alright, you can't really mess up pancake. OH and don't order from EatStreet, because they pawn off all responsibilities to the restaurant. read more

Stopped by for the first time this morning to grab a quick bite to go. Freshly prepped and overflowing egg, ham and cheese on english muffin and 16 oz coffee for $6. The coffee is straight out of the pot and delicious! This so beats the heck out of standing in line at Dunkin Donuts shouting your order across the counter and took the same amount of time. Went with a friend and boy were we bowled over by the food. We ordered the spinach chicken omelet and the house special French toast with caramelized apples, bananas. One of us was not a big fan of bananas and the waitress was only too happy to substitute with blueberries. The first mouthful of the omelet and I was jolted by the glorious taste. The French toast was equally heavenly and we polished off both our plates in quick time. The ambience of the place sure belies its yumminess quotient!! The waitress was very courteous and helpful. This is a great place to eat. However, there is a new waitress who is not good. Very pleasant but very vague. Nothing in my order was right and she forgets things like silverware and drinks. And she is slow. I have heard that she is family of the owner and he has let go the other waitresses who were not related but that was a mistake. They were effortlessly good and this one is not. Living in Meford, it is nice to know there is a nice, uncrowed (get there before or after the Church rush) breakfast place that is not pretensious just around the corner from my house. The decor might be dusty, dirty, and outdated but the food comes quickly and tasty. I have been going here for years and will continue to do so! Yum! read more
