I liked the Lighthouse Inn and would stay again. Like others have written, the staff is friendly and efficient, the room was spacious and clean, and there was zero traffic noise from the 101. The location was perfect for us, and we enjoyed being so close to the Battery Point Lighthouse and to the Chart House Restaurant to see the seals on the floating docks. Oh, and the random Elwood Blues statue in the foyer is hilarious. The shower pressure in room 219 is intense -- I didn't mind it, but I can see where it might be too much for some folks (and no, the head is not adjustable). Not sure about other rooms, but the sink in 219 is at the foot of the bed -- so if you use the restroom in the middle of the night, you have to wake everyone up by turning on a light to wash your hands. My only complaint was one washer and one dryer were broken, leaving just one set for guests, which caused a slight backup. Hopefully the broken set will be repaired soon. That said, we had a pleasant stay and would book again if in the area. read more

This is a review for their AWESOME customer service: I was the best man in my best friend's wedding; as a final gift I wanted to get him a bottle of champagne for his room. The host, Casey, stated that I could have something delivered; unfortunately, my friend was arriving on a Saturday after all the florists were closed. Casey went above and beyond by agreeing to buy a bottle before his next shift. . .at no cost to me. I offered multiple times to repay him, but he wouldn't accept. Weeellll...there's not a lot of choice in this town. If I have time for the drive next time, I'll stay in Brookings. The Lighthouse is in serious need of updating. Pinks and reds just don't make it. Garish murals of sea and whales is pretty awful (lobby). The furniture was thrift-store quality and I will have to upload the picture of the lamp table that had half its top veneer missing. The curtains were absolutely filthy. Ew. The bed was comfy, but I'm in a Holiday Inn Express right now and the linens are CRISP. The linens at the LI were soft but old and wrinkled. The towels were clean and fluffy. For such a big place, you'd think they would at least have a treadmill. Nothing, no fitness stuff at all. No pool, no jacuzzi. Breakfast is bread and cold eggs. There were Costco muffins sliced up and some fruit. I can't eat that stuff so went out and got my own breakfast to microwave. How tough would it be to get some hot eggs and sausage, maybe some yogurt? If they give you a "bayside" room, that means traffic and sea lions, all night long. Be aware of the foghorn going off every few minutes as well. I closed the window and turned on the low fan, and that helped. The room was huge, have to give them that. read more

I love this place! My daughter and I and my 3 grandsons had to stop in Crescent City unexpectedly. My grandson who has special needs was sick and we were all exhausted after driving for 2 days. I called from the road and secured a room. The woman was so nice and helpful and quoted me a great price. When we arrived we realized the room was on the third floor which wasn't doable for us. She ended up giving us a 2 bedroom room on the first floor with 2 king sized beds that was handicapped accessible for the same price I was quoted! The rooms are homey and clean. Lots of nice little touches that made our stay really pleasant, so pleasant that my grandsons want to live here! Haha. If I ever stay in Crescent City again I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else. Their hospitality is above and beyond. read more

Quiet, clean and independently run motel. You won't get less, but you won't get more. Don't bother with the deluxe rooms unless (a) you have an enormous amount of stuff and need the extra space, or (b) you are in dire need of a jacuzi (but do ask if it works - mine didn't). read more

The best part about this place was the large size of the rooms. They were clean and quiet, and lots of room for the four in my family. I didn't like the guy at the reception table...the complimentary breakfast was huge and adequate amounts of food. It wasn't exactly near the ocean. Decent hotel for the price. The view is ok but nothing special. The front entrance has a urine type of smell bit goes away after a couple seconds. Don't get the room next the elevator. We loved our stay here. We got a room with a king size bed, jacuzzi tub, and fireplace. The room was huge, with a mini fridge, microwave, love seat and table. It was very clean and had been kept up very well. We had a view from our room that looked out over the harbor that was across the street. The staff was friendly. The only reason a didn't give it a five was because the bed was a little uncomfortable, and the towels were medium quality. Be aware of the fog horn that blows in the harbor. It didn't bother me, but it did bother other reviewers. The location to the Redwoods was invaluable, and for the price and amenities in the room it was well worth it. read more

This is a very nice motel except for the bathroom sink being at the end of the beds instead of in a separate bathroom, along with shower and toliet. This makes it impossible to have one person rise early and not wake the other. I consider this a very poor design. on the good side- the rooms are very large. on the bad side- the beds are rock hard, seriously ROCK hard. the floors suffer from the same lack of padding so be sure to try to get on the top floor unless you don't mind hearing everyone walking over your head. The lay out is strange- the sink is in main room but other then that it was fine. the breakfast is basic but fine. The clerk was very nice and helpful... so if the beds were better and the rooms a bit quieter I would agree with the other higher ratings. read more

I was very surprised at this hotel for the price .The room was spotless and very large ,the staff was extremely friendly and they had a adequate breakfast .I had booked the best western in brookings for $100 a night more and cancelled one night so we could do the trees of mystery .All the other places were booked but this was perfect .Opposite the harbor and within walking district of ocean world .I would certainly stay here again .I found the beds comfortable we did request more pillows .I am very picky and honestly delighted in this hotel .The only one thing I could complain about was the refrigerator was a little noisy . read more

They say they have WiFi - but it's a strange setup. There appears to be no authentication - so everyone just latches on to it. During busy times, they easily run out of IP addresses on their DHCP server. Net result: lousy online experience. Other than that, the breakfast is decent (Bagels, cream cheese, OJ, coffee) and a wonderful lady that keeps the counter well stocked. The staff is friendly. The shower as 5-stars - super strong water pressure. The beds were too firm for my wife's taste - but they were great for me. They did not have any ocean view rooms available, so I stayed in one of the rooms facing the woods. This is actually a plus since there's a decent amount of 101 traffic on the ocean facing side. We came to Crescent City for a youth football game and only for the night. The hotel was exceptionally clean and the hotel manager was very welcoming and friendly . The price for our two bedroom suite was more than reasonable . The rooms are not modern if that's what your looking for , but our room was spotless and smelled freshly cleaned and very comfortable . The continental breakfast was laid out very nicely and had a variety of juices , coffees , muffins , bagels , toasts , fruits and hard boiled eggs. Its in walking distance to the ocean and several restaurants . If you open your window at night you can hear the seals and the soft sound of the fog horn out in the distance . looks old from the outside and inside. when u get in the room, it still looks old! and the beds arent to comfortable, but definitely can get a good night sleep. they also seem weak, like u could break it easily. the continental breakfast was not very good, and there was not very much seating. they had to open up there conference room just to fit everyone. there were also several seemingly abandoned cars (my bro thinks they put them there to be there forever so people think theres people staying). there was one that we parked next to that had a spider web/cob web on it! overall i would not probably say try and skip it if u can find a better place. if u cant, then this place is fine, just not extra things that make a hotel great. it would be an ideal stop for simply resting. read more

We stayed at this hotel in August, 2010 on a trip to the redwoods and I would have given it 4 stars then. We stayed here again in August, 2013 and while the front desk people were just as friendly and service-oriented as I remember, it seemed that the rooms (or at least the one we were in), had gone downhill and were in need of some remodeling or at least sprucing up. The mattress was not very comfortable and the pillows needed to be replaced. The rooms themselves are fairly large and clean. The hotel reception area is spacious and airy. There aren't many hotel selections in Crescent City, so you could probably do worse. read more

First time staying in a motel. Better than I expected. Staff is friendly and there is free coffee+tea. Breakfast does not have any hot foods but the staff buys fresh donuts (there are actually free donuts throughout the day because the staff buys so many of them...). Rooms are decently clean. Faucet (somewhat clogged) is in the bedroom. Wifi is dodgy but mostly works. Clientele here is VERY varied but I had fun people-watching. read more

Got into the hotel at night and everything looked great at first. Large and spacious room (2 queens), nice decor in the lobby. Room is slightly dated but clean-looking. Bedding looks a little sad: ultra-thin sheets and old-looking mats on top. If everything was clean I would have liked the hotel, but the housekeeper neglected to change one of the bed's sheets. There was hair on the sheets, and the sheets also smelled used. Front desk was nice and sent out a housekeeper to fix it. He changed the sheets quickly with no hassle, which I appreciated (unless he was the one who messed up in the first place). There was also a pretzel and a straw on the floor right next to the bed. Not a huge deal, but it definitely amplifies my disappointment. I hope this is an irregular occurrence, as everything else was clean, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel. read more

Stopped on Fri 11/11/11 night called a head talked to James very helpful booked the room high floor with view. When we arrived He know who we were got us check in right away. When I was coming back in with my fishing pole he stopped be and told me about a great fishing hole. I told him I was going with a guide in the morning turns out the fish I caught was at that hole. My spacious and clean room would have rated much higher had the 18 wheelers parked on the street in front not kept their compressors going all night. The location of this hotel is perfect if you're going to visit any of the local redwoods or drive up the coast to Oregon even as its directly off the 101. The inside of the hotel is quirky and embraces the nautical theme that's in the name. The rooms are nice and clean and the beds aren't bad at all, but there was a beeping noise all throughout the night (probably a lighthouse) that might be kind of annoying to some but is bearable and probably affects the nearby Best Western and Super 8 too. The continental breakfast was okay with some fruits and a variety of carbs to choose from. Overall a nice stay. Cozy and great for a couple days. read more

We booked on their website and called to make sure the room was reserved, which it was. Very cute Inn, clean, great decor in the lobby, walking distance to the boat docks and near a couple restaurants that deliver. My only complaint is they put us - 2 adults, 2 small kids, in the handicap accessible room so there wasn't a bathtub, everything was at hip height (even the large flat screen tv), low beds, and no upper lock on the door so we had to push the table against the door to make sure our 2 and 6 year old didn't leave without us. Not appropriate and actually ended up very inconvenient, but probably ok for an actual disabled guest... read more

I was have been in Crescent City for over a month and have stayed here almost 2-3 nights out of the week. All the staff are great friendly people, we had to leave for work at 2/3am and the lady noticed the next time we stayed they offers to have breakfast ready for us like 3 hours before they normally do that. Yes, this place is out-of-date but it's almost in a charming way. The place has a nice feel to it. Staff was most helpful and a lot of other families staying there. Great central location & good fair pricing. We didn't use any of the amenities but our room was very clean. Old but clean.
