This is a decent hotel. clean, big rooms, well decorated. I would call this equivalent to a Hampton Inn.

Okay, everyone needs to calm the 'f' down... Like, both sides are being a bit over dramatic... I totally live in Los Angeles, but haven't seen this kind of drama since the first and coincidentally, last time I saw a Kartrashian episode 25 years ago... So I'm here to let everyone know that the Lighthouse Inn, is neither good nor bad... Backstory: Stayed at the Motel 6 on my way to Oregon on a road trip; and stayed at the Lighthouse Inn, on my way back... Motel 6 was 'newer', but the TV didn't work and there was no microwave oven or fridge, where the Lighthouse Inn had all of those things, so the Lighthouse Inn wins hands down... Yes... Some rooms come with a view... But, I'm supposing that really depends on what time you check in... I got lucky because my stay was on a Tuesday night, so 'YAY me'... The room features a combination 'behbathroom' for lack of a better word, and yes, it looks like it hasn't been updated since '95... But hey... It's clean, so once again, 'YAY me'... Bottom line is this... If you're looking for an updated hotel, then do urself a favor and spend the extra 30 bucks and stay at the Best Western, so you don't find yourself crying like a baby manchild... But if you're rolling into town at 10PM or so, and you're looking for a cheapish room with a hot shower and a microwave oven capable of heating up the piece of German chocolate cake that I bought from the 24 hour Safeway, down the street??? Then I would spend the extra 5 to 10 bucks to stay here instead of the Motel 6.... You're Welcome... p.s. I would give it a 3.5 stars if I could, but since everything worked in my favor, I rounded up...

Crossing over the S. Oregon/N. California border, Crescent City is one of the first cities you hit. Not huge, but pretty well spread out, with all the typical roadside chains, and a few interesting local spots. We were only here for a quick overnight stopover, but I'm glad we chose to stay at the Lighthouse Inn over some of the usual hotel/motel chains... This comfortable, reasonably priced, non-chain inn/motel, with a lobby decorated with tons of frilly, over the top knick-knacks (mixed in with a smatter of coastal décor) like your granny's PARLOUR, has CHARACTER!! I think we were upgraded to a King-sized room, which was HUGE!! It included two reclining easy chairs and the most MASSIVE hotel sink/vanity I think I've ever seen!! Clean, quiet, comfy room, the bed was great, and bathroom/shower was wonderful. No complaints. There IS a warning in the lobby to be sure not to leave any valuables visible in your car, as there have been break-ins... Unfortunately, that just makes sense, wherever you are... We left early and didn't partake in the free breakfast, but it seemed perfectly acceptable (free is GOOD!!) Nice place, pretty popular (just about booked solid the late June date we were there) and very conveniently located!! Granny would APPROVE!!! ;-)

This room also had a VERY big nice TV - much larger TV than in the other rooms! This was our first time to Crescent City and of course we wondered if the fog horn would be a problem (especially given the "warning" on the hotel website). It wasn't an issue for us - but we didn't sleep with the door to the balcony open or anything. You can definitely hear it... but it's not super loud and/or overbearing... when I think "foghorn" I usually think about the super loud blaster that they use at 49er games or something, but this wasn't that at all - not even close! The TV was a little bit of a challenge to figure out, but we figured it out eventually. I can't say that I was crazy about the bathroom layout... with the sink part being in the main room, but the upside to that is there was a LOT of counter space, much more than would have been available otherwise. After a little reflection, I realized there really wasn't a better way to lay things out. I just had to get used to it... and now, I wouldn't hesitate to get the same room again.

Ryan at the front desk indicated that while he technically could modify our reservation, we'd have to go through Expedia since we booked with them - sure, not a problem. I talk to an Expedia agent who says yep, we should be able to modify the reservation. They call the Oceanview Inn, speak with Ryan, who says nope, no can do. When I went back to the lobby (still on the night of check-in) to ask Ryan what happened, he became confrontational. The staff here are unwilling to help their guests or make even minor modifications to reservations, even for services that have not and will not be rendered. Location: Convenient location close to the beach, highway, and Redwood National Park. Other than the national park there is very little to do in Crescent City. Not many good restaurant options. Room: Antiquated. Hasn't been updated in 25 years, uncomfortable bed. The upgraded room we reserved was quite large, however, the walls are thin and we could hear our neighbors all night. Also, the fog horn blows every 8 seconds. Walking to & from the room we noticed the hallways smell like strongly of urine.

Our room was clean when we arrived, and the breakfast area was spacious with a great view, which made the morning experience enjoyable. However, there were several downsides. The biggest issue was a leaking faucet in the room, which suggests that maintenance could be improved. The room itself was also quite small--just enough space to move around comfortably, with very limited extra room for luggage or other belongings. Overall, the hotel was adequate for a short stay, mainly because of the cleanliness and pleasant breakfast area, but the maintenance issues and cramped room size kept the experience from being more enjoyable.

No communication was made to us prior to arriving at the hotel about our room not being ready. No concessions were made at that time because our booking was done through "www.hotels.com". During our stay our room developed a significant water leak from a ceiling light/fan fixture. This happened very late at night; I called down to the front desk and after waiting for several minutes I received a call back. By this time the water leak from the ceiling had mostly stopped, however we used all our hotel towels mitigating the water leak. The staff offered an adjacent room for us to stay in. However, it was very late at night and we had sleeping children and being that the water leak seemed to have stopped on its own we opted to stay in our room.  When we came back to our room the next day, the water leak was still active.  The hotel had not sent anyone to fix the leak and they had not sent anyone from housekeeping to clean up the huge water mess.  I went and spoke with the front desk staff personally and asked for assistance, however we never received any for the remainder of our stay. We spent the majority of our time out of the room because of this issue. We then had to leave the property several hours earlier than our scheduled check out time due to the bathroom being unusable. It was unusable because of an active water leak and a standing water all over the floor. Again, I called down to the front desk early on the morning of our check out to ask for assistance and they didn't provide any. After telling them that morning what the issues were that we were having, the response from staff was "Ok". The onsite manager was never available, and I was never able to speak to them.  This was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had and I will not be staying a best western ever again.

Stayed here on a Tuesday night during the middle of a long road trip. Place was quiet and eerie. With your window open, you are only accompanied by the lapping of distant waves. That is genuinely it. I probably saw 3 guests the course of my 14 hour stay. Eerie right? The dated decor didn't help either. However, I attest that this lodge is worth the stop. All of the workers were nice, the mattresses were extremely comfy, and the views were beautiful. All components of a great stay. Truthfully maybe this place doesn't deserve five stars. But I am rooting for this establishment. I hope you all enjoy oceanfront lodge as much as I did.

Overpriced, undercared for, even the jacuzzi was an eyesore. Images attached. Avoid as much as you can help. Truly a hilariously, awful experience. The only upside to renting the most expensive room for a night, was how absolutely comedically awful the room itself was. We got a good laugh from it. The bathroom as well is the cherry on top of the shit sandwich, it too shares the same austere, low-budget pornographic character as the rest of the room.
