My wife and I have driven by this location on many occasions during our travels to the various businesses in Augusta. We always wanted to try and it and one day we decided to. Parking is ample, but it's not clear from the outside that there is no place to sit inside to enjoy their food. It's a walk-in take-out only. They have a large selection of wine and locally brewed beers and a small menu with approximately 14-20 items on. Staff is young and friendly. There is no kitchen, but a small prep area with electric griddles. My wife ordered the lobster roll, which they were willing to swap the brioche hot dog bun for sour dough sliced bread. They carefully weigh out their lobster and lightly dress it with mayo prior to putting on the bread. My wife enjoyed it, but said it's not a lobster roll she would ever get from them again. I had the crab role which had plenty of shredded crab meat, but very light on the mayo and I felt underwhelmed. The place was worth trying, but not something I would go out of my way to purchase from again. You do get a bag of chips with your meal so there is a positive note. read more

Seafood is fresh & clean. Tho there is an occasional dead lobster in the tank. Food prepartion is dull. Crab rolls & coleslaw lack flavor. So, I take take-out home & improve it. I have been shopping here for years and thought it was time to give it some praise. Outside of Portland it can be a challenge to find those specialty items and here is a treasure trove of great food and drink. In addition to a great wine and beer selection (and Coffee by Design beans) there is a nice cheese selection, prepared meals like lobster mac and cheese, salads, crab stuffed haddock, and smoked fishes. Some real unique treats are the smoked salmon on a stick and Dr. Dave's smoked cheese and olives. The owner and staff are friendly and will try to order things you want. The two women working were very friendly and for a smaller building the shop was full of choices on the menu, large selection of wine and prepared foods. Sat outside with my pup, they brought out the food and a free hot dog for my dog. What a wonderful find! We had already tried 2 lobster rolls prior to ordering a roll here and hands down - this was the best!! Fresh, large chunks of lobster with just a small amount of mayo made this our favorite pick. When you walk in to the right is a room full of lobster tanks, a case of fresh fish, clams, a seafoodie's delight. The counter/ordering area is small, and yes, expect a bit of a wait - everything is made to order, super fresh, but so worth it. While you wait you can browse the huge selection of wine, beer, Maine made jams, salsas, and other goodies. We ate outdoors on the umbrella'd picnic tables, a perfect summer day with one of the most delicious meals I've ever put to my lips. They have nice selection of to go food, wine, beer, cheeze, etc. Their website has an online ordering system for the pick up. After you order food to go online, it suggests the time you can pick up your order. Well, that has not been working well. I ordered food online and arrived to pick it up slightly after the pick up time, however, they have not even looked at my order when I arrived! So I ended up waiting the whole time when they started preparing the food and finished making it. Then what is the point of having online system?? This happened twice in a row so I suspect this was not an isolated incidence. If you ordered food online and really would like to pick your food up when you arrive, I recommend to call them as well! read more

Fun for what we needed. Lobster roll to go, good tender juicy lobster, with mayo. No fillers, no scallions, just hardcore meet on a great brioche bun that was perfect for the task. Also tried the fish tacos, freshly cooked, nicely dressed, good to go in just a few minutes. Friendly store, eclectically merchandised and decorated. NOT cheap! Had a fantastic experience with Lighthouse last weekend! I visit this area of Maine quite often with my fiance and his family but have never before gotten seafood from Lighthouse. A few days before we wanted to get our seafood, I called and spoke to the owner Nick who gave me all the info I needed about pricing and pickup. We ordered 9 lobsters of varying sizes (which he put aside for us) and steamers as well. We also opted to have them steam the seafood for us before pickup. Pickup was seamless and the food was cooked PERFECTLY! Lobsters were all in a plastic bag and then a paper bag so they stayed hot until we were ready to eat. Seriously the most delicious lobster. For what this place is it couldn't be any better. 1) It's a wine and beer store with a remarkable selection, particularly given the location (Manchester, Maine). Among the beer selection of note was a Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA (15-20% APV!) and the Portland Maine based Allagash breweries Saison (A reasonable attempt at a Belgian Ale). They have a lot more... I'll be back to try some and will likely take a few interesting bottles away with me when I leave Maine. 2) It's a lunch place specializing in fresh seafood. They have dozens of live Maine lobsters in tanks waiting to be steamed, as well as clams, oysters and other shell creatures. One of my companions had a fresh steamed Lobster for a third of what it would have cost in a local, admittedly overpriced, restaurant. They also have a variety of fresh fish (I had a haddock sandwich which was really nice.) The menu isn't extensive but everything is fresh and well prepared. 3) It's a seafood market. The locals all seem to come in here for bags of shellfish and fresh lobsters. As I said at the start, for what it is it doesn't get any better. Spoke to a man and I told him I would like to reserve 7- 1.25 LB lobsters and he said ok, I told him I would be there in about 40 minutes. When I got there the man behind the counter said they only had 1 LB lobsters, I said that I called and was told there were 1.25 lobsters "saved" for me. What I love about the Lighthouse is the wide variety of items they have- I enjoy browsing the many unique products that they have found from all over the world- and especially those from Maine. I am a big fan of their haddock sandwich- never breaded fish- and it's topped with their freshly made tartar sauce. They know just how to fix it! They keep adding delicious items to their offerings- always homemade soups, hummus, salads, sandwiches, in addition to their selection of beer, wine, lobster, fish, and even beef (and that only scratches the surface). Nick, the owner, drives two hours to the Maine shore to personally meet with the lobstermen. They genuinely have wines from all around the globe and do an amazing job supporting local breweries and small businesses in Maine.
