    Another plate of food

The staff were awesome. So friendly. The food was great. Had the steamed dinner with 1.5lb lobster... and a fantastic coffee porter.

I have been shopping here for years and thought it was time to give it some praise. Outside of Portland it can be a challenge to find those specialty items and here is a treasure trove of great food and drink. In addition to a great wine and beer selection (and Coffee by Design beans) there is a nice cheese selection, prepared meals like lobster mac and cheese, salads, crab stuffed haddock, and smoked fishes. Some real unique treats are the smoked salmon on a stick and Dr. Dave's smoked cheese and olives. The owner and staff are friendly and will try to order things you want. I used them once for catering (ask for menu) and it was excellent. Glad they are here!

Ate my first ever lobster roll here last week - blew my mind! I'm so happy my friend convinced me to get the biggest sandwich they had. Yummy chunks of lobster with just a touch of mayo (and I hate mayo - was not a problem, at all.) Served with chips and a pickle on a perfectly toasted bun. When you walk in to the right is a room full of lobster tanks, a case of fresh fish, clams, a seafoodie's delight. The counter/ordering area is small, and yes, expect a bit of a wait - everything is made to order, super fresh, but so worth it. While you wait you can browse the huge selection of wine, beer, Maine made jams, salsas, and other goodies. We ate outdoors on the umbrella'd picnic tables, a perfect summer day with one of the most delicious meals I've ever put to my lips. My buddie's veggie panini was pretty off the chain as well - sharp cheese, garlic mayo, portobello mushrooms, spinach, roasted red peppers, and lots more goodies piled high on toasty melty goodness. We were in hea-ven!

Super big lobster roll on a fresh buttery bun with a crisp pickle on the side. Been awhile since I've had one that taste as fresh as this one they're building here in Manchester, so I'll be coming back here soon enough.

    Delicious beer.

For what this place is it couldn't be any better. 1) It's a wine and beer store with a remarkable selection, particularly given the location (Manchester, Maine). Among the beer selection of note was a Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA (15-20% APV!) and the Portland Maine based Allagash breweries Saison (A reasonable attempt at a Belgian Ale). They have a lot more... I'll be back to try some and will likely take a few interesting bottles away with me when I leave Maine. 2) It's a lunch place specializing in fresh seafood. They have dozens of live Maine lobsters in tanks waiting to be steamed, as well as clams, oysters and other shell creatures. One of my companions had a fresh steamed Lobster for a third of what it would have cost in a local, admittedly overpriced, restaurant. They also have a variety of fresh fish (I had a haddock sandwich which was really nice.) The menu isn't extensive but everything is fresh and well prepared. 3) It's a seafood market. The locals all seem to come in here for bags of shellfish and fresh lobsters. As I said at the start, for what it is it doesn't get any better. Great selection of fresh stuff, super friendly service, nice country vibe, even picnic tables with big umbrellas outside. Go here if you are in Augusta or Manchester.

The Red Barn is a legendary Augusta, Maine restaurant. A fixture in the community, if you will…read more They've been a part of the Augusta landscape for decades (since '77). What are they famous for you ask? Well, seafood...of course. Specifically, the lobster roll. My boyfriend loves the lobster roll! I had the popcorn chicken basket with crinkle fries that I could eat everyday if given the choice. The seasoning and breading are just right & fried until golden brown without sacrificing safe cooking or flavor. Another one of those busy places-it's a restaurant that attracts locals and tourists. They've always got inspirational quotes on their marquee. Outdoor patio seating (tables with umbrellas) and a no-frills, basic interior decor. Gives total seaside vibes.

They have the option for ordering takeout Ahead of time or online. There is significant outdoor seatting as well as a small interior dining room. The interior has one non gender handicap, accessible bathroom. The menu is not excessive, but the portions are generous. CAUTION: pay close attention to the prices. they will fluctuate and you should not assume what the final cost of your meal will be beforehand!! My clam basket and my daughter's 1/4lb roll (2 20 Oz drinks) totaled $65!! Now I will absolutely give credit to them for the clam portion being large and high quality. These were the type of onion rings that I prefer, which are thinner and more crunchy with less batter. That said, the total completely blew my mind.Because even with a very industry standard upcharge for onion rings in place of french fries.I had sticker shock. I grew up near Portland so I understand the price of seafood can change quickly. But I would say do some price shopping. Because this is more about the experience of the location since the quality of food does exist at other restaurants. In maine.
