One of best rolls we ate on trip to Maine! We were passing through and needed lunch! Cute spot that was super clean and the food was great. A local spot for sure. We opted for lobster rolls as a basket. Which included fries and a coleslaw. The roll was PACKED with lobster and delicious. The fries were crispy and the coleslaw was delicious!

I would have to say that was some pretty good deep fried lobster. Had a double lobster dinner too and it did not disappoint. Thank you so much. If this New Yorker makes it back that way you guys will definitely be my first stop. The service was fast and the people were awesome. The outside seating was also very inviting. The lobster out front ...perfect touch for out of the area folks to know what you got going on!

Great roadside lobster shack type of place with indoor seating as well as a covered outdoor pavilion for dining. The best thing we tried was the clam strips which were above and beyond anything I expected. They were crispy and delicious! The lobster roll was delicious and meaty, but the clam chowder was a bit too watery for our liking.

The crab meat rolls are delicious! They are why we come back and the best thing we've had here, each time. They are always packed with meat and a perfect mayo to crab ratio for our taste. We tried the poutine, which was good. The fries were fresh and it was made with cheese curds, so that was appreciated. The gravy and overall dish was a bit salty, but that's kind of the nature of the dish so we enjoyed what we ate but didn't finish it. I might get this again, but I'd probably opt for plain fries next time. We also tried the fried mushrooms and the haddock sandwich. The haddock sandwich was fine, but fell apart and was extremely messy to eat because it had shredded lettuce (not whole lettuce leaves) and tarter. We wouldn't choose it again. The fried mushrooms were also a disappointment. Some were hot, some were cold in the middle, and most were mildly warm. The flavor of the mushrooms and breading were also just meh. It was clear they were frozen and not homemade. So I would recommend selecting something else, and would probably go as far as to suggest it be removed from the menu since there are clearly other things this establishment does better with. Overall, stick to the fresh seafood and fries. This place is no frills, but has everything needed. They're usually busy, but the line usually moves right along and the food comes out quickly.

We were really looking forward to lunch here as our past experience was excellent. It's possible we came on a bad day. I actually had a good experience this time around as my crab roll was as fresh and delicious as the last. I asked for very light Mayo and it was perfect. Dad ordered clam strips and they were not good. Literally. He ended up quite sick and mom and I both tried one and agreed they just tasted off. Many of them were stuck together, too. Mom had haddock and it looked about as bad as she said it tasted. Very wet and much of the meat was a very odd red color. I'd probably go back and try it again sometime. For now, though, neither dad nor mom want anything to do with seafood.

Excellent food! We ordered the small lobster roll which was creamy and packed full of large pieces of lobster. The fried clams strips were fresh and amazing. Not chewy. And the poutine was filling and great flavors. We relaxed outside while my toddlers loved playing on the seesaw shaped like an airplane. We will be back!

Best place I've found in Maine to get lobster! Great food, customer service and value! We went there twice in the week we were there. We had a large party and arrived near closing time, and they were so pleasant and accommodating and everyone really enjoyed the lobster and other sandwiches.

HOLYYYYYY SHEEEEETTTTT this place was INCREDIBLEEEEEEEE. Visiting from NYC and drove a half hour out of our way to nosh at this place. I'm embarrassed to say 2 of us devoured an entire clam basket, onion rings, lobster roll, and chicken fajita roll sandwich deliciousness. Best freaking lobster roll I think...I know...I've ever had. Get it with butter. You won't regret it. And the homemade tartar sauce?! Perfect amount of pickle chunkiness and flavor that will make your tastebuds explode. Place is super clean too. Never seen such an immaculate restroom. We will be dreaming about this place until we come back next year. Go. Go now.

The Red Barn is a legendary Augusta, Maine restaurant. A fixture in the community, if you will…read more They've been a part of the Augusta landscape for decades (since '77). What are they famous for you ask? Well, seafood...of course. Specifically, the lobster roll. My boyfriend loves the lobster roll! I had the popcorn chicken basket with crinkle fries that I could eat everyday if given the choice. The seasoning and breading are just right & fried until golden brown without sacrificing safe cooking or flavor. Another one of those busy places-it's a restaurant that attracts locals and tourists. They've always got inspirational quotes on their marquee. Outdoor patio seating (tables with umbrellas) and a no-frills, basic interior decor. Gives total seaside vibes.

They have the option for ordering takeout Ahead of time or online. There is significant outdoor seatting as well as a small interior dining room. The interior has one non gender handicap, accessible bathroom. The menu is not excessive, but the portions are generous. CAUTION: pay close attention to the prices. they will fluctuate and you should not assume what the final cost of your meal will be beforehand!! My clam basket and my daughter's 1/4lb roll (2 20 Oz drinks) totaled $65!! Now I will absolutely give credit to them for the clam portion being large and high quality. These were the type of onion rings that I prefer, which are thinner and more crunchy with less batter. That said, the total completely blew my mind.Because even with a very industry standard upcharge for onion rings in place of french fries.I had sticker shock. I grew up near Portland so I understand the price of seafood can change quickly. But I would say do some price shopping. Because this is more about the experience of the location since the quality of food does exist at other restaurants. In maine.
