I found this place on Yelp, and it's hard to find one like this off-season if you want seafood, lobsters, and clams. It's casual, quick, and affordable. You order at the counter, and they bring the food out to you. Lobsters this time of year are not cheap. But we got a deal; for $68.99, we got 3 hard-shell lobsters, added 2 lbs of steamers for $5.99/lb., and came with a roll and coleslaw. It was perfect! And BF added a cheeseburger as well and 2 waters. The total bill with tax was around $98. You can't ever beat that. The coleslaw was good that I had to get 2 more for $3. Best seafood we've had on this vacation to Maine. My wife ordered a lobster roll and I had the mixed fried seafood (pint). We also shared a cheese fries. Everything "hit the spot", we were very satisfied. Loved the breading they use for the fried seafood. My wife's lobster roll had a decent amount of meat on a toasted bun (the way it should be), it was very tasty also. The crab meat rolls are delicious! They are why we come back and the best thing we've had here, each time. They are always packed with meat and a perfect mayo to crab ratio for our taste. We tried the poutine, which was good. The fries were fresh and it was made with cheese curds, so that was appreciated. The gravy and overall dish was a bit salty, but that's kind of the nature of the dish so we enjoyed what we ate but didn't finish it. I might get this again, but I'd probably opt for plain fries next time. We also tried the fried mushrooms and the haddock sandwich. The haddock sandwich was fine, but fell apart and was extremely messy to eat because it had shredded lettuce (not whole lettuce leaves) and tarter. We wouldn't choose it again. The fried mushrooms were also a disappointment. Some were hot, some were cold in the middle, and most were mildly warm. The flavor of the mushrooms and breading were also just meh. It was clear they were frozen and not homemade. So I would recommend selecting something else, and would probably go as far as to suggest it be removed from the menu since there are clearly other things this establishment does better with. Overall, stick to the fresh seafood and fries. This place is no frills, but has everything needed. They're usually busy, but the line usually moves right along and the food comes out quickly. read more

I actually had a good experience this time around as my crab roll was as fresh and delicious as the last. I asked for very light Mayo and it was perfect. Dad ordered clam strips and they were not good. Literally. He ended up quite sick and mom and I both tried one and agreed they just tasted off. Many of them were stuck together, too. What a gem... lobsters rolls + lobsters at a very reasonable price! As we were driving from VT to Maine to visit Arcadia National Park, we decided to stop by Mjek Seafood & Grill as a mini celebration after crossing state line into Maine! (yes, yes, we knew this place was not even close to coastal Maine, but hey, as a visitor to Maine, lobsters should be on everyone's mind EVERY DAY while they are in Maine, right? This place is really just a hole in a wall shack sitting in the middle of nowhere, so unless you knew about it from someone or read about it from somewhere (like Yelp), chances are this place probably isn't on anyone's radar at all. Their lobsters were definitely on a cheaper side, around $12-$14 (depending on whether you got soft/hard shelled ones. We got twin lobster meal with corn on the cob and a lobster roll (around $12-$15, I don't remember the exact price) and woo...it was super yummy. The lobsters were freshly cooked off the pot and we enjoyed cracking oysters and dipping them into butter sauce. The corn on the cob was heavenly buttery (lots of butter sauce on it!) and...the lobster roll was yummy with a slight taste of creamy mayo and buttered buns, too. P.S. Mjek does also seem to have problem getting their meals out promptly. The problem was that their menu selection was too large when they could really focus on seafood like what their name alludes to. They sell everything from pizza to french fries to lobsters. We stopped by around 5-6pm and saw few locals got frustrated with Mjek because they had to wait too long for the food to go. I give one star because of health concerns. No divider between customers and cashier. Employees don't wear masks or gloves. Self-serve communal salt and pepper shakers and bottle of vinegar. Picnic tables are closer than 6 feet. Throwback to pre-corona days. Health be damned. Observing patrons, my experience having been here twice in one week (and never again) most people didn't posses a mask, some people didn't respect social distancing, fewer people didn't respect personal space. I have been dining here for years since the food is decent. I want to support businesses but for the foreseeable future I'm taking my business elsewhere. Having been here twice in one week, the food was inconsistent. Small things: cheese was not melted on the burger, they forgot the tarter sauce. The worst part, my order number was called out after over 40 minutes of waiting and I retrieved my (incomplete) order; I was told I still had to wait for my lobster...annoying. I splurged on lobster to support the lobster men, all I wanted was my order on one tray. I waited in the sun near enough to the window, 5 minutes, not ready; 10 minutes, told to keep waiting; then 15 and still not ready. 20 minutes passed, the cashier forgot and gave it to someone else. No apology, no refund offered, I had to another 20 minutes for my complete order only to see they forgot the claw cracker. After the lobster debacle I gave them a second chance to redeem themselves and there will be no third, not until post-COVID. read more

This might be the best lobster i've had in my life and its on the side of a country road away from any tourists or city. this place is no nonsense. just awesome lobster! fresh lobsters with light butter. call 20 mins ahead and they will steam it for you so its ready when you arrive. the lobsters were meaty, sweet and reasonably priced at $21 for 2 with fresh corn on the cob, bread and slaw. we also got the lobster roll. this thing was massive. meat was the great like steam lobsters with light mayo. roll was toasted and not dry. the kicker was the lobster stew. it was creamy and slightly sweet. not too heavy on the cream. the flavor of the stew didnt over power the lobster meat. also the stew had giant hunks of lobster. i would say there was 70% meat and 30% liquid. just awesome. this place is basically a shack with a tent with and tables. there i a sink to was your hands after. owners are nice too. read more

The texture was off as if they had been previously frozen and there were many bellies which could not be eaten. The batter was also too thick. It was probably a bad sign that nobody else stopped there to order while we were there. Also checkout took a while because one of the owners (?) was using the phone which they need to process your card. The area outside of the restaurant did not seem particularly clean and smelled fishy and not in a good way. Great little spot near China Lake. Large menu reminiscent of the Red Barn. To get a real taste of the place I got a small lobster roll, pint of whole-belly fried clams, and poutine. Total was about $41 and everything was excellent. The pint of clams was huge. See pic. On future visits I'd probably just get a large lob roll -- the fried stuff was a rare treat for me but fried seafood aficionados will love the clams. As someone who is always looking out for an inexpensive lobster dinner gotta say that this place lives up to it's Yelp reviews. It is definitely a little off the beaten path . . . about 25 minutes northeast of Augusta in the China Lakes region, BUT WORTH THE TRIP!!! Picnic tables outside, wooden tables in the new indoor space, basic but tasteful. It's all about the food. We had steamers and whole belly fried clams as appetizers, both excellent. But the stars of the show were the lobsters. Fresh, sweet and VERY reasonably priced (when we went the hard shells were $9.99/lb for large hard shells, less for smaller hard shells and soft shells). The real value on the menu are the single, double or triple chick dinners. Their homemade slaw is very tasty, and the corn on the cob is awesome (I won't say how they cook it, but they'll tell you if you ask). This is a BYO place. They do have non-alcoholic beverages for the kids. Desserts are locally baked, tasty but pretty basic. My only negative comment is that they may be victims of their own success, the small kitchen has a problem keeping up with the orders, so we sat a while waiting for our food, but definitely worth the wait. We have watched this place grow from a snack trailer that appeared to be parked in someone's yard to a full blown restaurant with a new beautiful inside dining room (the tables are gorgeous and hand made). A sliding barn door on the bathroom adds to the quaintness. There's also an outside tented dining area for summer days and evenings. The food is incredible and reasonably priced.
