My wife and I recently purchased a 2bdr/1bath house in Huntington Beach. It was in need of a complete facelift. We found Barak Svisa on Yelp and after meeting with him in person, we decided to give him a shot. We are SO GLAD we did. Over the course of our 2-month renovation, Barak proved himself to be a trustworthy, professional, and meticulous craftsman. Time and again, he went above and beyond the call of duty, to ensure my wife and I got precisely what we wanted. OK, let's get specific. Al gutted the bathroom from floor-to-ceiling, installed new fixtures, new geometric wall tiles, a glass shower door, and new flooring (this included both tiling and leveling the existing concrete floor). Aside from the beautiful job he did on the surface, what we most appreciate is that he even took it upon himself to identify some problematic plumbing that existed within our walls, and replaced it all with brand new piping, averting a possible flood in the future. He didn't do it to leech more cash from us. He did it because he has integrity. It's a good demonstration of Barak's overall work ethic. Barak skim coated every wall in the house. This was expensive, but well worth it. If your walls are crumbly and uneven, I recommend this. He also installed new trim throughout the apartment. Barak stripped and re-stained our floors. They went from awkward and pink, to a gorgeous dark walnut tone. Floors look brand new. Excellent execution. Barak cut a section of wall away in our den and installed beautiful French doors, joining the main living area and the master bedroom. Barak retiled our kitchen floor, added new tiling to the back splash and walls, and installed new saddles to separate the raised kitchen area from the hallway. Again, perfect execution. Barak replaced an old circuit-breaker and installed a brand new one, with modern switches for easier flipping. Major electrical work was done throughout the house as well. Sockets were move around, walls were cut into to move wires around internally, track lighting was installed in entry hall, high-hat lighting was installed in corridor, and all new fixtures were installed throughout. Our house is over a fifty years old so there were some hiccups, but Barak navigated around them like a pro. Short of listing the actual price for all of this work, I will only say that Barak charged us a very competitive price. It wasn't cheap. It was just the right price for the work he completed. Again, work ethic. He doesn't nickel and dime you. In conclusion: the final product Barak delivered exceeded our expectations by leaps and bounds. Lightning Construction and Design Company is a company that stands above par. Sometimes when you have a construction project, it is a difficult choice as to who to choose. Not knowing in advance about the quality of work, expertise, or workmanship. Picking the right company to help with the remodeling of your home. We made the choice of Lightning Construction and Design Company based on a referral from a friend who had them do some work for them. They came to our home and gave us a quote for the work that we needed to have done. The projects consisted of electrical, plumbing, and wood and wallboard upgrades. Since it had been many years without any upgrades there was many things that needed to be done. All the work was handled by Lightning Construction and Design company and their fine craftsmen. Their crew was very courteous and very professional. Their expertise was apparent from day one on the project. We will definitely provide referrals to our friends and family. I would rate this company very high on the list of professionals. I just love the finished results that they gave to us. Wow! I am amazed by Lightning Construction from the moment I called and scheduled an appointment with them. Irene was so pleasant to talk to, she emailed me right away with our scheduled appointment and a kind reminder phone call on the day of the appointment. Barak Svisa arrived 15 minutes early of the scheduled time but because I was with another contractor (this contractor was 40 minutes, which I did not use) therefore, Barak waited outside patiently until I was done. I had few contractors came out to my rental unit in San Pedro, CA to do some remodeling but found out that Barak was the most sincere and honest person. This is my first review on Yelp. I never thought anyone could make me write or take the time and energy to type review for them. I was blown away and impressed by Barak so I am happy to take the initiative to write this review. Because it would cost too much money to remodel the rental unit, I took Barak's honest advice and decided not to remodel the unit but just remove and replace the carpets and linoleum. Excellence from the design phase to moving into our new space! I cannot say enough about the professionalism of Lightning Construction and Design. Barak seemed to be on the same page with my husband and myself from the very early planning stages. We wanted to some additional space and a half-bath to our little-used bonus room to make myself an office. I wasn't sure it could be done without a lot of headache, but we quickly realized we'd chosen to the right contractor for the job. Barak helped us envision exactly what the finished area would look like, and was personally available every step of the way to answer all of our questions. He was very attentive and patient, throughout the entire process. The work was done in a timely manner and the area was kept virtually spotless. LIghtening Construction and Design did an amazing job on our remodel. Remodel is putting it lightly. We completely gutted the place inside and out and got a brand new home in the end. Their contractor Barak gave us a beautiful home in less than 5 months after completely gutting the place inside and out. Most contractors we met were double the price and take double the time if not more. We interviewed 10 contractors and architects and Barak was our last interview and came highly recommended with the budget and design that for us. He was not only our contractor but designed the whole place and helped us with many extras he didn't have to like landscaping and furniture (who does that?) etc....Barak is the most amazing contractor I've worked with and we were lucky to find him. Most people I know hate their contractors by the end of the job but we really enjoyed working with ours. He took our old home and completely gave us and brand new home at a great price in 5 months. I hired Lightning Design and Construction to remodel my bathroom. I met with Leo the project manager. When he arrived, he was professional and courteous. I explained what I wanted done, he readily understood my needs and provided me with an estimate which exceeded what I had budgeted. However, when i told him that it was more than i could afford, he did not disappoint me by telling me that he could not do the job, but instead was accomodating and agreed to do the job within my budget with the materials provided by me. Leo did not inconvenirnce me at all while the work was in progress. He took care of the permits, inspection and supervision of the overall job. We contacted four other companies but they all wanted us to tear out our beat-up oak cabinets. David came in, unscrewed one of the cabinet doors, sanded it, re-stained it and it looked beautiful. Needless to say, we hired his company on the spot (Their quoted price was the most economical). We also had them do the countertops, backsplash, floor tiles, recessed lighting and paint. Our kitchen looks immaculate! We went ahead and had them do our biggest project, the enclosed patio. Once completed, it added an additional 500 sq ft to our living space! And it's permitted!!! David was very easy to talk to. He always answered our call when we had any concerns or questions. We would not hesitate to hire this company again for our next project! read more

Lightning Construction and Design is a lifesaver. We were really becoming discouraged after working with a contractor for weeks. We wanted to update our wetbar and just felt like we were constantly spinning our wheels. A friend suggested that we contact Lightning and I'm so glad that she did. On our first appointment, they were able to provide us a sketch of our plan and view the area that we wanted to remodel. The job was done in much less time than we expected (2 months, when the other guy had quoted that it would take 4). Sean came to my house to give an estimate and I immediately knew I was going to have them do my remodel. Sean saw my vision and did a 3D design of my kitchen. I was going to get my dream kitchen. Lightning Construction and Design to my surprise performed beyond expectation when they came to repair my dad's roof. I had not moved to my dad's apartment for some time so things were not in order. At first I was a little bit naive to go on with the repair of the roof but with their top notch crew and state of the art tools, the repair was fast and smooth and even went the extra mile of keeping me up to date with the whole process, and more so their sales representative sent over knew what exactly he was there to do.
