Overall my family's experience at the Lycée International de Houston has been outstanding. The attention and nurturing that LIH offered us during the pandemic were a reliable constant in our lives. I found my child's teachers to be always engaged, always prepared, and always open to feedback. Almost universally, when my child's energy or attention was lagging the teachers or mentors with whom she interacted shifted their approach, flexing the lesson plan and often their teaching style to re-engage her. It is this adaptability that most impresses me about LIH teachers and mentors, and you simply can't find it in other educational models. I can confidently say that while all staff members are capable and you can't find that in every school. My child's truly exceptional teachers and mentors always give the clearest feedback in LIH reports; they provide conversations in ways that suited my child's level in all ways (from things as simple as the use of vocabulary to complex concepts of reasoning and philosophical thought); they introduce subject matter in ways that initiated dinner table conversations, and left my child feeling confident and stimulated. The Lycée has always shown respect for and responded to any concerns I have ever shared with their administration. I highly recommend this school to families looking for an intimate, one on one learning experience for their children. By the way, this is the only fully bilingual school not only in Houston but in Texas. :) read more

This school was a huge disappointment and, frankly, a waste of money. The gap between how Lycée International de Houston markets itself and what families actually experience is staggering. Administration is ineffective and dismissive. Parent concerns are met with defensiveness rather than solutions, and there is little sense of accountability or leadership. The overall tone feels rigid and authoritarian rather than educational. Academically, the standards are shockingly low for a school claiming to offer an international or IB-style education. Teaching quality is inconsistent, and some instructors assigned to advanced classes appear to lack appropriate experience or credentials. Classrooms are often disrupted, discipline is weak, and students openly disrespect teachers without meaningful consequences. The environment is unhealthy. Many students seem disengaged or unhappy, and our own children dreaded going to school--so much so that they referred to it as "the prison." That alone should give any parent pause. For the tuition charged, this school fails to deliver even a baseline level of academic rigor, structure, or student support. My daughter has only been at LIH for a few months so far, but we are convinced we made the right choice for her, and us. She loves going to school, the classrooms are huge and always clean, the teachers are passionate and engaged, the facilities are incredible, the staff is so kind and helpful and the other families in the community are welcoming. They do seem to live their values in their curriculum, and not only through the diversity of backgrounds we see in the classroom. We were also amused/a little teary eyed when our daughter, inspired by her school decided to participate in a knowledge contest in France for kids. Schools are not just for teaching academics - they have a tremendous effect on the values our children develop. We are so happy that LIH will be helping us provide our daughter with both strong academics and values. We are amazed by their French and English bilingual program and their International Baccalaureate program, we believe this is a unique educational opportunity for my daughter. There's a real sense of community,you see families from all over the world coming together, and it's a great way to get involved and see the kids enjoying themselves outside of the classroom. La Kermesse, in particular, is one of our favorites. It has that perfect mix of games, food, and excitement, and the kids talk about it for weeks afterward.
