I typically visit the Gaithersburg location but I was getting dinner nearby and stopped here for dessert The fusion of flavors they offer never disappoint!! I ordered a box of 4; peach cobbler (2), carrot cake, and strawberry crunch. My niece loved the strawberry crunch and was pleasantly pleased with the strawberry filling. I always get the carrot cake when they offer it, because it's so tasty and they don't overwhelm it with all the extras because why mess up a perfect dessert with raisins and nuts (not a fan of raisins and nuts)! The my his had the peach cobbler cupcake, he didn't make a fuss so I assume he enjoyed (he's pretty picky)! We tried this place for the first time and had it delivered to us. My daughter really enjoyed her dessert. She had the cupcake ice cream cup. I was surprised that she ate most of it considering the size of it. I would include a spoon instead of a fork to enjoy this dessert since it had ice cream. I had the cheesecake which was tasty however, the slice was a bit small. The fresh whipped cream was the star of the dessert. It was rich but also light and had really good flavor. Baked and Wired who? Georgetown Cupcakes who? My parents purchased some cupcakes from here for a family event. I got the cupcakes later after they had been frozen. After all of that they were still amazing! The cake was super soft and flavorful. It was light and moist. The frosting was thick, rich, and sweet. Both flavors were delicious- peanut butter and chocolate and chocolate raspberry. They were beautiful too! Next time I visit my parents I'll be making a special trip! read more

When I lived in Gaithersburg, I would frequent them often ,now having one in Urbana makes it the perfect stop on my way home from work. Yesterday I stopped by thinking I was going to get just 2 cupcakes-well upon arrival that idea quickly died as I opted for a box of 4 cupcakes (3 premium (+$1 upcharge) and 1 regular cupcake totaling around $21. I purchased a banana cream pie/banana pudding cupcake (topped with whipped frosting, dried banana chips, banana cream and graham cracker crumbs), a cookie butter smores cupcake (biscotti cookie, chocolate cake, marshmallows, cookie butter frosting and chocolate drizzle), a pumpkin caramel cupcake with a donut hole on top and a carrot cake. As of now I've only eating the banana cupcake (8/10- wish it didn't have the dried banana chips on top) and the cookie butter cupcake (AMAZING...I ate half to be polite to my calorie count, 10/10. My husband took me for my birthday... my wish when I blew out the candle was... can I get my money back and the 2 hours back from our trip here. Maybe it's because it was late at night but if that's the case they need to stop selling earlier. The German Chocolate Cake taste like they put Hershey's Fudge topping all over it. WTH? Who puts fake fudge on a cake that should taste like coconut. Oh and the coconut topping taste like it's out of a bag. There's no coconut flavor. Just because you don't like GCC doesn't mean you should cover up the flavor first those if us who do. We bought 4 other cupcakes. The pumpkin cubcake was overbaked. It was rubbery and the topping was tacky. Like I could have used it to fill in the holes in my walls. It was like they used glue but I think it marshmallow or fluff but it wasn't homemade. The other 3 cupcakes I just threw away because it was a waste. We asked for a cookies and cream shake but it was chocolate ice cream with cookies in it. Where did they put the cream part? Cookies and cream ice cream isn't chocolate ice cream. Then it should be called cookies and cocoa. I think I have given this place all the attention it deserves. I would waste money here. [Disclaimer: Cupcake focused review, I popped in right before closing, so I didn't peruse the other offerings.] Was so excited to stumble across this location in one of the newer shopping centers in Urbana! I've been to the Gaithersburg location before, so I knew I had to pop in to see what flavor cupcakes this store had last night when I drove by. This location seemed to have slightly fewer options, but still a variety of cupcakes. I am not sure what the flavor rotation might be, but most of the cakes were vanilla based, the Oreo one was a chocolate cake, but it might have just been that or maybe 1 other...the point being if you weren't looking for vanilla cake it was more limiting. I went with a box of 4 to be able to share/sample with the fam when I got home. I went with a Coffee, Cookie Monster, Vanilla with Vanilla & Sprinkles, and Vanilla with Chocolate frosting. They all had good flavor, the Coffee being the most interesting because there was more depth than just vanilla as the main flavor source. The other 3 were not bad, but it was more noticeable that they were more dry than I'm used to. I'm not sure if it was because it was the middle of the week and the last time I went to Gaithersburg was a weekend; or if foot traffic means Gaithersburg simply moves more product? But I'd say these were just a step down from what I usually expect for this price point on individual cupcakes. I would certainly stop in again as I feel this kind of shop is unique in the Urbana area still, and they do have other treats to offer as well. I took a visit to Lil' Cakes & Creamery a couple of weeks ago. This was my second visit since their opening day. I wanted to try it out for the second time to see if my opinion changed about this place. The cupcakes are fine, just a little dry for my preference. They have an assortment of cupcakes, desserts like cookies and brownies, and ice cream. We ordered a 6 cupcake box with an assortment of chocolate and vanilla flavored cupcakes. You definitely can't keep the cupcakes for more than a day, so it's best to eat the day of. The service was prompt and friendly the day that I visited with my son. There were two young ladies working that day and they served us promptly. The ambiance is casual and there is plenty of seating to enjoy your treats in the store. I think it's a good addition to the Urbana community if you're feeling in the mood for a sweet treat. read more

I would rate the cupcakes a 5 and the ice cream not so much. I had a scoop of Butterfinger and it was just okay. I love when I can chew my ice cream and this is chewable - if that makes any sense to anyone else! However - the flavor just wasn't there for me. The taste was like frozen yogurt. The cupcakes however - on point. You should be a buttercream icing lover though... So far I tasted the wedding cake and I will go back for that one - it had a hint of almond in the icing - just the way I love my buttercream. I sampled the pumpkin spice and it had a little custard in the center. I don't even like filling in my cupcake but I did in this one. The actual cake part was ...get ready for it...nice and MOIST. My sister and I got a cannoli today. The shell was soft. The cream did not taste like traditional cannoli cream, it had a bad after taste. If you wait and fill the cannoli to order the shell wouldn't be soft. It supposed to be crispy. Disappointed in my first experience. Mixed review. I purchased a German Chocolate Cupcake and a piece of baklava. The baklava was already in a little plastic box, and the cupcake came out of the case. The cupcake was good. Fine crumb and mildly moist. Probably would be too dry tomorrow. Chocolate flavor was mild. The frostings were delicious, but I wish they covered the whole top of the cupcake rather than piled high atop the middle. Four stars for the cupcake. Unfortunately, I have never had worse baklava. Hardly any syrup, and the phyllo was soggy. Overall, it tasted of freezer burn, which might explain the sogginess. Zero stars for the baklava. Total waste of money, as I couldn't eat more than one bite. It was that bad. read more

I really wanted to love this place, because I am a sucker for a good cupcake and hard ice cream. There isnt one in the area -- so I'll probably be back to try some. The cupcakes though, they were just ok. I forget what we got now, but the cakes were simply chocolate or vanilla based and then the frosting was on top. I'm sure one of the cupcakes I got was chocolate on chocolate and maybe strawberry and cream? I wish the strawberry and cream cupcake had a strawberry cupcake with the the cream icing. So I'm happy this place is here, and we will be back to try something else (maybe just for some ice cream) but I am slightly underwhelmed by the cupcake offerings. read more

I want to start by saying I'm not quick to leave a negative review, I have also never eaten at this bakery and let me tell you why. I'm going to start with my most recent experience, where I went into the shop with my best friend after having dinner across the street. We were excited by how the different items looked, but my friend has celiac disease and can't eat gluten. Usually macarons are made without gluten but we still wanted to be sure. We asked the young woman behind the counter if the macarons were gluten free. She hesitated before saying, "I'm really not sure." This alone was an odd response because food allergens are something bakery employees should really have knowledge on. We stayed there and it was an awkward pause before she finally said "let me go find out." Okay, that is of course fine. She comes back about 30 seconds later and just tells us again that she doesn't know. Another girl came with her and just sort of stood there. Perhaps I sound harsh but this is ridiculous. I don't know if this is an issue of training or just apathetic employees. Commercial kitchens of any kind are required to have available ingredient lists by law. This girl couldn't come up with anything and really didn't make any effort at all. I do not have any allergens but how could I enjoy something from this bakery in front of my friend when these girls couldn't do the very bare minimum? I also didn't want to give my business after the poor service. Secondly, I tried to use this bakery for an event once. I called and ask for pricing on macarons, the girl I spoke with said she'd find out and call me back. Fine by me. I also mentioned that perhaps I'd do mini cupcakes too if she could get me a quote for that as well, but I for sure needed macarons. She called me back the next day and would only give me pricing for cupcakes and wouldn't answer my questions about macarons.... I reiterated that these were my priority and I wasn't interested in the cupcakes much at all anymore. She said again she would find out about macarons but I was on a timeline and ended up using Sage Cakery which was a seamless experience. I received two more calls and voicemails over the next couple of days asking me to call back asap for the cupcakes which I already said I didn't want. Overall the experience of trying to get baked goods here has been fruitless and frustrating. Would not recommend. read more
