Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Stopped by for the usual Squid Burgers & fries with my cutiepie. Service from cute counter gal was outstanding. Food was yummylishious! I agree sometimes the experience is less than stellar, especially on weekends and, from younger order takers who could care less about anything resembling work in general. I gotta say that I was very disappointed in this place. The food was not very good. I had the Fish and Chips, Half order. First it was cold, okay maybe warm at best, but it did not taste very fresh. The fish was chewy in some spots and a little tough in others. The pieces were quit small for the price. The fries, or chips, were not even warm. We also ordered a coke and a water. They gave us the soda, but when I asked about the water, they seemed like it was a bother. Not very friendly. The person kinda shoved it through the window. No smile, no eye contact, with a bruff "Here". I also saw a customer go up to the window and asked them for something to wipe down the table. If it was MY business..... I would have had someone go out there and wipe down that table for them, but that is not what happened. They did give them a rag, but having a customer clean up a table left dirty is not cool at all. I would understand if they were busy, but there were at least three people inside, and only one other customer, so they were not busy at all. Now being a local to the area, I would think that they would be a little more courteous. I am asked quite often, almost daly, for referrals to local eateries by people visiting the area and this is one place I would not feel comfortable referring them to. Customer service is definitely NOT their strong point. I'm pretty sure that quality is not either. That being said, I would NOT recommend this place. I might be willing to give it another try at some point cause I do understand that it might just be Lil Hut having a bad day. read more

Read the positive reviews on this place which persuaded me to try it out as I have never been there in all of my trips to Moro Bay. Ordered the fish tacos, $6.25 (see pic). Got 2 breaded and deep fried fish tacos in flower tortillas. Tacos had diced tomato, lettuce, shredded yellow cheese and came with a commercial salsa to add if desired. This was a "American" type of taco which did not have any flavor, salt was needed. Also ordered the deep fried oysters $8.99 (see pic) not too many for the price paid (see menu pic) Spouse ordered the "squid burger" $5.99 I asked if that would be ordered again and the reply was "no" Cannot eat inside, have tables outside. Always have been a favorite place to stop by and eat. Today our table and the table next to us was served molded garlic breads. We both brought the breads to show the attendance/servers. The cook and the server both looked and said it was not and refused to do anything about it and walk away. Very disappointed! read more

Not impressed with this little hut at all. We were running short on time so we decided to stop here since there were quite a few people ordering and eating food. It looked like a safe bet. I got the fried oysters and my fiancé got the crabby patty and the food was edible and that's about it. The crabby patty was all filler (breadcrumbs) and the fried oysters did not taste fresh. The salmon fish & chips were so delicious that I immediately regretted the decision to split the order with my boyfriend. I wanted them all to myself! The food and the price point is amazing. We had lunch and dinner and recommended this to friends who drove up for the day five starts from them too. Ugh! A really bad experience here. Food was very so-so, but the service was deplorable. It wasn't just bad, the guy at the counter was disinterested, and had zero customer service skills and was actually combative; everything passed him off. I requested no mayo on my veggie burger, and this request was met with annoyance. When I then asked what else came on it he said (again, really annoyed) "the same stuff that comes on the regular burger." ) I said I wasn't familiar with their burgers so I lead him along by asking "does it come with lettuce, tomato, onion?" Whilst my parents were ordering food the cashier was rushing them to order, didn't want to explain what was in the hamburger and kept saying "what" as if he couldn't understand us and would sigh so many times in a rude manner. I got the clam chowder in a bread bowl and it was barely hollowed out, there was actually only a tiny portion of chowder in it. The top of the bowl had been cut and toasted but the bowl had not been, or had been toasted much earlier in the day and had sat for a long time. The chowder was creamy but very heavy on the celery and light on clam. The food was average at best but the view in the seating area made it all worth it.
