They have a small outdoor seating area and the atmosphere is crisp and relaxing, but we take our juicy 100% beef w/ grilled onions on the beach. My wife loves the onion rings, and I love the fries. Both are deep fried perfectly, and are crunchy on the outside but soft in the middle. My wife always ask for extra crunchy onion rings. The burgers are juicy, so grab extra napkins. My wife and I were looking to grab some lunch and stumbled upon this place. WOW are we glad we did. Hans greeted us with a smile and a friendly disposition while we gave our order. Then Frank began to create the masterpieces that they call doubles and fries. The service was amazing and you cannot beat the ambience, it's next to the beach. This little shack is big on flavor and good vibes. Perhaps the negative reviews were from people having a bad day, because my wife and I would give it 10 stars. Located on the corner in the old Ruddell's Smokehouse shop, they have some big shoes to fill, and I was happy to see this business giving it a try. Service was quick and friendly, and the burgers hit the spot. These are classic smashburgers made from fresh beef, topped with sliced cheddar, grilled onions, pickles, and sauce on a brioche bun. (Lettuce and tomato are extra.) The burgers were delicious! The only miss for us were the fries -- a bit limp and not quite as crisp as we like. Food came out super fresh and looked great. Basket of fries is pretty pricey at $8, but it is a good portion. The fries themselves though, not very good, stuck together weird flavor and poor texture. A month later we drove down to the area again and decided to give it another chance, hoping that Arturo would be there. He was not but I kindly asked the chef and cashier if they would please make them nice and juicy the way Arturo did. The chef, didn't catch his name, was so condescending. Said that Arturo doesn't cook them right and that they are supposed to be smashed, crispy and dry but that he would cook them how we wanted just for today because they weren't busy. Went there today on a Saturday and was not impressed. I could smell the hamburger when I was ordering and was either the smell of grass fed beef or green beef which they did offer for an extra price. There was about 10 people ahead of me and I waited about 45 minutes for a burger and fries. I asked for salt for the fries and they didn't have any. Someone else asked for ranch dressing and they said they were out. Six hours later and I still have the taste of that beef in my mouth. I think though it might've just been grass fed beef which has a much different taste than grain fed beef and I don't really like. I don't think I'll go there again. There wasn't even anything special about the hamburger. The price was good though. They also only have three tables to sit and eat at so if you want to eat there plan to take your food to the beach or somewhere else to eat. read more

Somehow the new location in Morro Bay is not yet in Yelp. So this gets put on the Cayucos location, instead. $1 add-on for lettuce wrap on a burger? Well, that seems a bit steep for what that is, compared to a bun. But we ordered it anyway. What did we get? A smashburger patty on a bed of shredded lettuce - the same as would have gone into a burger on a bun. Maybe the crew in MB needs a bit more training, or maybe this is their "wrap".
