2nd worst clam chowder in town .it really had no flavor just blah bland and they over cooked my clams to the burnt crisp. They were the only restaurant open at 6 pm on Tuesday night . This town pulls up the sidewalk at 6pm now on pandemic time so make sure you plan dinner early . Came here on a recommendation of a friend. (7/22/20 @1:50 pm) The cashier was very rude and unhelpful. He acted as if we were bothering him while placing our order. A mistake was made on our order and when we tried to correct him, he argued with us and disregarded any type of customer service. On top of that, once we received the food it was mediocre. The clam chowder had more celery than clams and the squid was kind of mushy. While we were eating, another customer was complaining to their group about the customer service they had just received as well. read more

To Start off ordering was a nightmare the girl behind the counter was rude menu changed no more 5 piece now I know why they are charging 3.75 for an additional piece of fish that looks like a fish stick out of a frozen box. Food was awful fish and the piece of lemon was dry it was nothing like before don't know what happen. I've visited Morro Bay for years and I've always discounted this place. Well, while I was looking at the menu, a couple in a car talked about how this is their favorite fish & chips place and they drive 20 minutes just to pick it up! So I did come try out their fish & chips, and I was not disappointed. I also love their clam chowder. The fish is flaky, the fries are crispy, and the crab cake sandwich was AMAZING. Great location for outside dining is one positive about this place. Ordered the combo fish/shrimp with chips, fish seemed fresh but shrimp was factory made, taste was ok. However, the clam chowder was mediocre in flavor, 5/10 if using a scale. If you're in need for a quick fix, then this place could hit the spot, just do more research before committing. We happened to stop in at Morrow Bay for the day. When lunch time arrived we were hungry and trying to decide where to go. Well we saw this place I first thought it was a place my daughter had mentioned but they hadn't been here and so we said let's try it out. We had our dogs and there is cute outdoor seating so it was a good fit. I ordered the combo for myself and my husband with fish and clam strips and chips and a small clam chowder. My daughter and her husband got the chicken strips and fries and fish tacos. We found a table and our food came out promptly. Ours was plenty to share, good taste on the fish and clams very enjoyable. I personally didn't think the chowder, it had a stronger taste of an herb ingredient, but my husband said it was fine. But this is why one less star on my review because I've had much better. The fish tacos were good as was the chicken strips and fries. So I do recommend this place and pricing is reasonable, but no more chowder here for me. read more

Our family has been eating at Giovanni's in Morro Bay for over 20 years. We popped in to Morro Bay and parked near Lil Hut and there wasn't a line so we just ordered 2 fish and chip meals and a small clam chowder. Sadly, it was awful. The meals came with 3 skinny pieces of fish, the fish was chewy and did not taste good at all. I took a coastal vacation in 2016 and my third stop was to stay in Morro Bay. While there, I noticed this little place on the Embarcadarro. I was craving something fresh from the sea. So I ordered the clam chowder bread bowl. The order took some time but it was freshly cooked and worth the wait. This was the best clam chowder I had eaten that I could recall. I am hoping to return to Morro Bay one day soon and would recommend this place for people visiting the area. Another thing I wanted to mention is the wildlife, especially seagulls are abundant and it was fun eating while looking out over the bay and listening to all the flying creatures. Simply disgusting... First off, the staff is way too stoned to comprehend an order. I had to repeat my order multiple times to the cashier and when we review the order it was still incorrect. So disappointed in this place. We went by for a meal yesterday and paid 78 dollars for 2 burgers, 4 drinks , 4 fish tacos and two bowls of clam chowder. We eat in Morro bay quite often and understand the prices aren't cheap but the food here is atrocious. We have been going to the Lil Hut in Morro Bay for years. It's our typical stop for Fish and Chips and chowder. During on visit on 3/7 we had an odd experience. The staff seemed to be in a bit of shambles, not knowing which orders were which and looking puzzled when customers asked about their orders. We ordered fish and chips 5 piece and one of our fish pieces was literally less than a quarter size of the other pieces. When we asked about giving us another piece the counter guy just gave a look. I asked to talk to someone else and another guy that came to the pick up window looked puzzled, looked around but quickly delivered 2 extra pieces of fish to our table. Other than this strange experience, the food is always good here and the outside patio is a nice place to enjoy your meal. I suggest managment review their staffing? read more

Disappointing. The fish was frozen not fresh which is a shame, also it was fried while it was still frozen so it was quite rubbery. Made it here an hour before they closed. we had a big order so I thought it will take a while but our food came out a lot faster than expected. The food tasted great. We ordered the fish n chips combo, which came with the fish n chips with a side of garlic bread and clam chowder, fried calamari, fish tacos, and a chili dog. The food was great. The fish and fries came out hot. The clam chowder was delicious and the best in my opinion. The fried calamari was also great. Fish tacos were good but could do without all that lettuce. The Chilli dog was pretty good as well but had to eat it quickly before it got super soggy because of the chili on it. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Save your time and money for a restaurant on the pier that doesn't berate their customers over their own mistakes, and has at least average food. I've been coming to Morro Bay for some time with family and friends, and I've never experienced such rude staff and bad customer service anywhere else on the pier. Myself and my mother were yelled at by multiple staff when they screwed up our order. Instead of trying to make it right they were overtly disrespectful and would not do anything unless we went back into the large line after waiting some time for our original order. In fact when my family was discussing how rude the staff had been, a table sitting near us couldn't help but overheard and expressed they had a similar experience. The food was below average at best, you're better off spending your time and money at literally any of the other eating establishments along the pier. read more

He walked away (possibly didn't hear me). He came back to reprimand me in a loud voice to hurry up, take my food, and he had other ordered to get out. I told him he had forgotten items and was being rude. My friend was next. Again, they forgot the dressing for the salad. She was also reprimanded loudly for not taking her food and leaving quickly. I guess she was supposed to happily take a salad without dressing. If you want reprimanded for someone else's screw up, this is the place for you!
