A big group of us went to 60 State Park Restaurant at the Inn at Morro Bay to enjoy the beautiful ambience and just to celebrate life. We were greeted immediately by a very friendly waitress, who set us up at a table for eight with a spectacular view of Morro Rock in the back bay. My husband and I had been here for hors d'oeuvres before, so we had scoped out the menu. I knew whatever I had should involve some coconut shrimp. I ordered a Sauvignon Blanc while we contemplated the menu. One couple of our party ordered pasta with shrimp or pasta with salmon. My husband got the grilled chipotle salmon, and a couple of us got the captain's plate which had a big assortment of fried coconut shrimp, calamari, and fish on a bed of fries. It's the most spectacular view on the coast and it is perfectly set up as a happy hour hors d'oeuvre bar. There's a long bar, many different sized tables and even an outdoor area with tables on the porch. The food might be kind of standard fair but it's well done and it's very generous portions. The bartenders very skilled at making drinks. The server even suggested a honeybee martini which sounded very tempting, but most of us stuck to wine. The servings are very generous. The food is crisp and succulent seafood. The extravagant chipotle salmon was a little bit spicy, but well cook cooked throughout with delicate rice under it. Several people in this group have a prodigious sweet tooth, so we perused the desert menu after the meal. One couple got the triple berry tart, while my husband and I split the cheesecake. As a former New Yorker, I have high standards for cheesecake and this was a good B+ effort. It could've benefited from some caramel sauce or maybe more fruit on it. The restaurant has tremendously fine views of the bay and has additional parking for non guests. The Fish n chips was very good with the fish in contention for the best I've ever consumed. The fries were prepared with the upmost craft. Regrettable, the Cole slaw was a miss... dry. The shrimp tacos and the beans were also favored but, like the previous dish, the rice was also in need of moisture. The Steak Frites was the highlight of the table and a must order. The deserts were both fantastic but the Apple Cobbler was to die for. If you traveled 100 miles only to order the cobbler... it would be worth your time. Clearly there was a master chef behind the scenes wielding magic. Being the first night at the Inn, the Inn seems to be a hidden gem of Morro Bay. This is the restaurant inside the Inn at Morro Bay. We stop in for happy hour (3-5pm daily right now) every few months. Coconut shrimp ($10 for six shrimp, piña colada dipping sauce is so good!), seasoned fries ($4) and chef's flatbread ($8) continue to be our favorite choices on the happy hour food menu. Service was friendly and competent tonight. While sitting by the windows seems like a good idea, we've found the tables closer to the middle of the bar/lounge don't get hot like the window-side tables do as the sun starts to set (and you still have a great view of the bay). There's a nice breeze when they have the doors to the patio open but it also lets flies and gnats in. The happy hour Sauvignon Blanc was crisp and paired well with the coconut shrimp. read more

We are locals but hadn't been here in years. The location was beautiful and the view magnificent. Our waitress was wonderful, but the food was the worst we had ever eaten anywhere. We should have sent it back. Half of the Korean Ribs were thin and not edible, the other 3 thicker ribs were just overdone and dry. The asian slaw was so soggy it should have been thrown out several days prior. The roasted chicken took an additional 37 minutes to prepare. When it arrived it was so overcooked the skin was all charcoal and the breastmeat under it was dry and unedible. The side dish was white rice with corn kernals. It tasted like they threw the corn in when they boiled the rice. It had no seasoning or flavor. I wouldn't be surprised to learn this food had been prepared days before. Our mistake was not sending it back. We were obviously displeased so the waitress brought us some rasberry sherbert with whip cream. I think they should stick witj food that does not require cooking. read more

We went here for a special evening with friends in town and I couldn't have been more disappointed. We arrived at 6:45 and didn't receive our food until 8:45. We came on a Tuesday which is "taco Tuesday" and received the tacos last. Part of our party had to leave before even being served their dinner because it took so long. I honestly can't believe how long it took. We didn't order anything extravagant and like I said ordered tacos on a taco Tuesday. Don't offer a special if you're not prepared to make it. We ordered an appetizer that didn't come until over an hour after ordering. I wish this place would've been what we hoped for but it just wasn't. We ended up putting our food in to go boxes to take home. They told us that large parties (9 people.. 4 adults, 4 children, 1 baby) are hard to take when the kitchen is closing.. we showed up at 6:45 and the kitchen closed at 8:30. Im sorry but that just isn't an excuse in my opinion. Totally unacceptable and the fact that the waitresses were not apologetic and acted as if we were in the wrong or making their lives hard.. completely unacceptable. Situated right at the shore overlooking Morro Bay at the Inn at Morro Bay, 60 State Park Restaurant is a great place to catch beautiful sunset views. Tracy is the lone server/bartender and is very pleasant. The food was good. Nothing spectacular. I would recommend sharing an appetizer and enjoying a glass of wine/beer while watching the sunset. Would I go out of my way to recommend it? Not really. But we did enjoy ourselves. read more

I'm writing this as someone also staying on property - went in because I arrived during happy hour. Was given the option to sit in the dining room - that's nice the host didn't assume as a solo diner I'd want to sit at the bar. This time I asked for the bar and was able to grab a quick chair. Bartender got me my drink quickly and the coconut shrimp was juicy, tender, and the sauces were fresh. The lemon was a great touch. I also ordered a second margarita with an extra shot and the bartender remade it with agave when I didn't like the taste. Overall 5 stars - food was good and the drinks on point. Excellent service - with very friendly wait staff. Extraordinary views of Morro Rock - but not crowded. Which was wonderful... Unfortunately the food itself was not very good. They had a "tropical ceviche" which, according to the menu said it was marinated in citrus ‍... instead we got something that was really awful.. It was chopped up mango, and boiled shrimp/ seafood mixed in the same sweet and sour sauce as the dip for the calamari (which itself was passable) .. it was sweet and inedible.. not ceviche ... The tortilla chips were stale. We had planned to stay for dinner but ended up leaving instead after appetizers. I came home and made myself a steak.. As a local, I so wanted this place to be excellent.. and I believe if they work on the quality of their menu, I think everything else is really five star from its location. to the very pleasant staff, that was there.. We went for breakfast during our stay at the hotel. The restaurant had a pretty view and comfortable seating. The food was basic, nothing extravagant. Menu had a decent amount of choices. But they told me no to a mimosa because the only server was too young to make them. You shouldn't advertise having Bloody Mary's and mimosas if you don't have a solution to this kind of problem. I'm on vacation and had been looking forward to breakfast and mimosa for a while. Definitely a bummer. She also never came back after food was served to see if everything was satisfactory or if we needed anything. The restaurant should hire more staff, with one being 21 to solve the drink problem. read more

We had Thanksgiving dinner here in 2023. They were very accommodating and had reservations available while some other places were already filled when I called around a couple of weeks in advance. We had a little trouble finding it because it's the restaurant within the Inn at Morro Bay and didn't have noticeable signage of its own outside. Our dog was welcome, though of course we had to eat on the outdoor patio. We had reserved for 4 pm but arrived around 3 and were happy they could take us early, because by 4 it was pretty cold. It was breezy even at 3, but not too bad because they had heaters. The view is wonderful, with Morro Rock in the distance. It was a special menu with several options for Thanksgiving, but we both chose turkey out of tradition. It was quite good but not spectacular, with apple bacon cornbread stuffing, garlic mashed potatoes, thyme gravy, Grand Marnier cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole with marshmallows and pecans, and haricot verts (green beans). The portions weren't overly generous but enough--one plateful. For dessert, we chose cranberry bread pudding and coconut cream pie. The pudding was excellent, but the pie was frosty in the center--nothing special. Overall, not an over-the-top Thanksgiving experience but adequate. And good enough that we'll probably come back another time to try the more casual regular menu. read more

We came here 6 months ago for a group dinner and had a nice time so came back last night for another group dinner and the experience was not good. They were out of many dishes, drinks that our group wanted. We said no problem and changed the options. Many people in the group got the wrong drink orders if they received their drink at all. We asked what the pasta of the day was Pesto and broccoli a few people ordered well they could only make one so we ended up getting one and the other dishes changed the one with pesto and broccoli had no pesto or broccoli. The veggie burger was spicey which was not listed on the menu just do an impossible patty the 5 people who ordered the burger could barely eat it. Our server was no where to be seen for most of the night no silverware once all the food was out no water filled but we would see her taking pics of the sunset. It seems like the management for this hotel are putting alot of money into the renovation and could be a great spot for dinner but the manager of the restaurant is not doing well with lack of service, food was not to order and a lot of the items were out. When we told the server that the food wasn't what we ordered she said it was crazy in the kitchen and walked away. I guess when your gratuity is included you don't have to do the work? Sorry to say I wouldn't recommend the spot hope they find new management and make changes because the location is so pretty it could have been a nice experience. read more

It takes more than location and view to make a restaurant great. Customers want a good meal at a fair price, neither of which were enjoyed during our recent visit. The service was slow but we did have a large group. The food was the real disappointment. The prime rib could not be cut with a knife and was not flavorful. Worst I have ever tasted or at best, tried to taste. We left the entire center untouched as did all the other prime rib diners at our table. Only the outer edge was edible. While over cooked, maybe the cut of meat was just substandard. I have had well-done prime rib before and still been able to eat it. Not in this case. While I could have brought my own knife, I was unable to chew the meat no matter how small the bites. Carrots were undercooked and hard. Squash was fine. Bread rolls were unremarkable. Scalloped potatoes were delicious and certainly the highlight of the meal. Carrot cake was dry. Tiramisu was very good. Water, coffee, and tea was provided in the hotel lobby. Guests were not allowed to take leftovers (probably for their dogs) from the restaurant. When some diners requested a container or a piece of foil, they were refused and admonished not to remove any food from the room. Should have taken photos. My bad. Too many other excellent restaurants nearby to try this one again. read more

Quaid offered exemplary service in addition to classic commentary and hysterical laughter. He showed us such the best time while we were staying in Morro Bay. The food was great, the chowder was excellent and he made the dirty martini FILTHY. So so good. 10/10 quaid is the man with the clam chowder plan. read more

Sad to experience. Understaffed with folks actually willing to work. Lots of standing around socializing among staff. Food was slow to come out, served warm not hot. Our server was distracted and overworked. Her manager and coworkers were not helping. Lots of blaming Covid for the problems. It was painfully obvious that the restaurant needed an active manager on-site. A good place for a drink, with a great view, but food service from a very limited menu was poor. read more

We had not eaten at this restaurant in sometime but wanted someplace quiet and just mainly appetizer and drinks. It was nice and quiet Don was our waitress/server/bartender and she was excellent. There were only two servers and they both handled the room very well with people coming and going. We had the spinach salad which was OK little pricey for what you got. We also have the captains platter I like the halibut and fries but the coconut shrimp were small and just Soso. I had to old fashions and they were pretty good. Wish we could've seen the ocean it was just so dark so nice atmosphere for that. read more

Happy hour food was the worst ever! We went on a Monday night to see the sunset. My drink was fabulous. The view was fabulous. But the food was disgusting! Nacho chips were stale and had melted processed cheese(like theater cheese), no salsa. Prime rib meat on sliders was so old and overcooked, it was like jerky and extremely salty. I could not eat the side salad( I think it was bagged salad and didn't taste fresh.)The side of bread was very stale... I'd be afraid to eat dinner there! And, the two tablespoons of clam chowder that passed for a cup was cold.. a total waste of 60.00 on appetizers we couldn't eat. read more

I don't know who's in charge of this place, but outside of our server, it looks like every employee is just collecting checks and standing around. The food was bland and took over a hour. My wife's eggs were also served cold like they had been sitting for a while. On top of that there were dirty dishes on most tables (from the night before?) when we came in. Only person who seemed concerned about this was our server/busier? Seriously, I saw multiple employees standing around watching her run around. Nobody else there making money knows how to pick up a plate. I sound mean but it's just not run well and somehow finds a way to ruin the best view in town. It's not a restaurant, it's a bad ihop. Please don't support this clown car of a restaurant, it's too pretty of a spot to be wasted by them. read more

Went back to the outside deck today and was pleasantly surprised with the service. I was pretty harsh last review with the lack of staff serving guest both inside and outside. Today was a world of difference. Excellent greeting and obviously a couple of servers/hostess to take care of the customers. If you're looking for sunset majesty accompanied by the two gals who took care of us and the rest of the patrons. We go for happy hour but more for the sunset. There was a couple sitting next to us from Colorado who happened upon this place and they were simply blown away by the views and service. Its also dog friendly which isn't my preference but the dogs were all very well behaved so no big deal. Kudo's to the staff for affording us a excellent evening . read more

While staying at the Inn at Morro Bay we decided to try out their breakfast! Waiting for food for about 40-45min. It came and omelette was not what we ordered. We heard the table next to us waiting for a while as well... after what seemed like forever... maybe 30 min.... their food arrived... wrong order. Sent back their food.... comes out about 10 min later.... wrong order. Yikes!!! How can you mess up the toppings in your omelette?! We were refilled on drinks ONCE and then forgotten about. THREE star review goes to the patio views. I was shocked to see 3 tables dirty and no one bussing... I'm unsure if there was a manager on duty?! We were offered a Bloody Mary on the house, no thanks! We almost didn't eat here because of the reviews and that would have been a big loss. Crystal was delightful and so accommodating and welcoming. She served us happy hour ceviche, calamari, 3 generous pulled pork chile Verde sliders and 2 draft stouts all for a whopping $31.25. That was a great dinner. The view was foggy and beautiful of the bay, boats and birds. A delightful dinner and an incredible seafood bargain on the bay. The bread basket was exceptionally fresh and crusted with asiago cheese and good butter. This was a welcome surprise for our 39th anniversary dinner on a budget. Couldn't ask for more! read more

I have food allergies which I noted on the reservation. The waitress had zero knowledge of what might be safe. She took forever take our order and the food was subpar. Awesome view!! On a nice day, it's to die for- take in boats and the famous Morro Bay rock, sit outside!! Happy hour is where it's at- from 2-6 appetizers are half off (the portions are a bit small so I wouldn't pay full price!) and enjoy $2 off wine and specialty cocktails. We were there to celebrate my mom and uncles bday on Sunday, Feb 17th. I had the Sunday prime rib special. It was really good, but could have been served a little warmer. It wasn't cold and not a big enough deal to send back. Maybe that's the only thing keeping this a perfect 5 start rating. We had a party of 8 and the service was exceptional. Our server (I forget her name) was attentive, provided great service and had a good sense of humor. We got there in time for happy hour and to watch the sunset. Great venue for watching the sunset! Also it was a little noisy, but we were seated near the bar and we asked for a table with a sunset view. They had another room that looked quieter, but didn't have as good a view. I would take the view with the noise over the quieter room with less noise. Will definitely go back! read more

Three of us went there for dinner. They brought us menus but didn't ask if we wanted drinks. When they took our order we all ordered water, that was the only water we got the 1+ hour we were there. We were never offered a refill. Now for the food. We got the Ahi Wonton Tower. It is 2 wontons with a few thin slices of Ahi and some onions, tomato and a tiny amount of mango. I don't think 2 qualifies as a "tower", and it had no flavor. Entrees were duck tacos, which are just 2 lonely duck tacos on a plate, so so in flavor. The scallops with risotto and slaw were good. I got a local greens salad with salmon. As I am local and go to farmers market every week, I am certain these were NOT local greens, the poached pear was 5 pieces that were smaller than a dime each, the tomato was 2 cherry tomatoes and the salmon was a cheap cut that was overcooked. No rolls or bread. Very unsatisfying. There is no dessert menu, the waitress told us what they are, but you have no idea what they cost until you get your bill. We ordered 2 desserts, it took almost 20 minutes until we got them. The chocolate lava cake was very good, the cobbler was tiny and not very good. Will not be bringing visiting guests there again, nor will I go there to eat again. read more

We went here with an open mind considering the reviews and Waited 20 minutes to get seated then another 32 minutes to get the iced tea I ordered. Food wasn't horrible but wasn't good. There was 2 servers and 1 bartender. 1 waitress seemed to always be in the bathroom. Our waitress was who knows where. We barely saw her. We finished our food and asked for the check. 30 minutes go by and still no check. I went to the bartender to see if I can pay with her. She said she would let our waitress know we were ready to pay although our waitress have known we were ready to pay. Wait about 15 more minutes. Still no check. I walked to the front desk to see if I can just pay for it up there because we just wanted to leave and we had been waiting for 45 minutes. She gets the manager. The manager gets our waitress and asked if we can pay. The waitress put her hand up to the manager and said "do not talk to me". She then proceeded to pull up our check. She starts to hand it to me so I can pay then takes it back and told me to wait a minute. She then proceeded to add her own tip onto my check then hands it back and says here you go. I have never been to a place where I have had such a horrible experience and felt so unwelcomed. We didn't eat much of our meal and went back to our room and ordered Doordash and that showed up faster than it took for us to get our drinks at this place and tasted way better. read more
