We had tons of questions as we are liquor needs and she was happy to amuse us. We had 4 cocktails and all were worth a try. Lil Indies is such a fun little dive bar with delicious drinks! It's definitely one of those hidden gems that makes the Mills 50 district a special part of Orlando. I'm always impressed with the fun ingredients they have in their drinks and the variety. I've actually never had a drink I didn't like and the bartenders are always so nice! I love the coziness of the bar itself and the welcoming vibe of the place. The bar itself is small but there is a good amount of seating and the times I've been there it's usually fairly quiet enough to be able to hold a conversation with someone without yelling which is always a plus for me. Definitely worth checking out if you're thirsty in the Mills 50 area! read more

Alright so I am biased because this is in my neck of the woods, but I love lil indies and its counterparts in hipster parts of town like Mills50 and Audubon. It's local, it's chill, it's small and oddly shaped (random assortment of small-ish rooms), it's perfect for the Mills/50 neighborhood. I've popped in for a random night and a whiskey tasting event and both times I enjoyed the experience. Did I love every cocktail? Nah. Did I enjoy the overall experience and would I recommend it to others? Yep. Service was great with a not too enthusiastic, but genuine smile (this is dramatically in contradiction to the Disneyfied Orlando aka here there are no forced corporate cheeriness, but happiness in a relaxed and natural way). Bring a friend to grab a low key drink and chill. You'll be glad you did. read more

It's a dive bar. No frills, not much seating inside and dark. The drinks are strong and made with quality ingredients. I had the Mean & Ornery which had High West Silver which I've never had and an interesting peach Sauvignon Blanc syrup. My date had an old fashioned. I would give it a solid 9 out of 10. It was made with Old Forrester. And it came with a real bourbon cherry, not one of those radioactive red maraschino cherries. read more

My fiancé and I came here with a coworker of his after being at the Guesthouse and Black Rooster, both up the road on Mills Ave. It was a Friday night and both the inside and outside bar were pretty filled - which one would imagine with it being a fairly cool Orlando summer evening. The inside decor has a no frills approach with an emphasis on quality, decently priced cocktails and drinks. After having one drink inside, we migrated outside and were able to find a spot at one of the picnic style tables for the three of us. With both rounds of drinks, the service was quick and friendly. Lil Indies was a great spot for the three of us that night to just chat, relax and soak up the chill vibes this place radiates. I especially love the little plants in the vertical garden on the outside patio. This place is worth including in your nighttime bar line up. read more

A hidden gem located next door to Will's Pub...look carefully or you might miss it! Lil Indies has a great vibe - very intimate and laid back, good art on the walls. The owners are super friendly, and they offer a nice selection of craft beers. Oh, and did I mention it's SMOKE-FREE! The place is on the smaller side, so it gets crowded once in awhile. Some nights Lil Indies will feature an art show or a band. I saw Cook Trio play there and it was awesome! Thursday nights they have a DJ that plays all 90's music. Checked these guys out for the first time last night, and I loved it. From the bar and comfy booth-style tables, which were all built out of repurposed pallet wood, to the local artwork, occasional trivia and guy playing really great music on 45s, this is a cool, comfortable, approachable place. I love that they are non-smoking, a step up from its parent bar, Will's Pub, located next door, and I adore the outside seating area. I have been greatly missing the beer garden atmosphere, ever since my beloved Redlight left its former location and was sadly refused an outside patio at its new venue... and I think I've finally found a place to enjoy an outdoor beverage again. Beer and wine wise - while their selection isn't massive, it does impress. Upon entering the bar area, I immediately spotted a favorite wine, The Velvet Devil, perched on a shelf next to a bottle of Oak Aged Yeti. Won over. read more

I LOVE this place. It's smoke-free, has amazing cocktails that get rotated often, and the atmosphere is great. It's intimate and divey, but not gross and grungy. I love the eclectic seating and weird, tacky decor. It's one of the few bars I've been to that the people don't annoy the heck out of me. You really get the feeling that you're hanging out in someone's living room. A someone who mixes up a mean drink (that doesn't skimp on the alcohol) and plays cool music. It's very relaxed, not pretentious and has a great vibe. It's one of the only interesting bars I've been to in Orlando where I feel immediately at home. The menu changes around so I can't recommend a cocktail in particular, but just go with the flow. Let the bartenders do their thing and they'll find you something to love. Oh, this is also one of the few craft cocktail bars where I feel the prices are not ridiculous. $9-$12 with most drinks being in the $10 range is good for the quality. The line at the bar can sometimes be a bit long as the drinks are mixed with care. Don't let it get you down. It's worth the few extra minutes you'll wait. read more

I love the trend of bars making really good cocktails.... and Lli Indies is no exception. A friend of mine is helping me discover many of the wonderful establishments in the Orlando area that are helping preserve the craft of making cocktails the way they were intended to be make. After a wonderful dinner down the street, we strolled up to Lil Indies for an after dinner cocktail. It was still early so it was not busy and I got to meet the owners. A wonderful pair of ladies who know their way around a bar. After some questions and answers of what we were in the mood for, we soon had two bourbon cocktails that blew our socks off! I truly don't remember what they were but they tasted wonderful. We sat and chatted with them for about 1/2 an hour then it started to get busy so we order two more of the same and had a seat out in the main area. The place is decorated with some comfy old sofas, retro paintings... and of course, Ronald McDonald. Don't ask, just go and check it out. We finished out drinks and thanked the ladies for their great service. A band was setting up so I am guessing live music was soon to be part of the night. Not sure how loud that would be in such a small space. But the cocktails were great, the service just fine and the fellow customers an eclectic mix of personalities. We fit right in! As I got older I realized a few things: I hate waiting in line to get into a bar/club, paying cover just to drink, and smelling like an ashtray after only 5 minutes of standing. "Ain't nobody got time for that!" I realize there are other wine and craft beer bars in the area, but I also don't want to be shoulder to shoulder with 100's of Orlando's finest. Can a girl just park, order without waiting 20 minutes, and drink? YES, you can do that all at Lil Indie's. It's a great meetup point on weekends without all the hassle. See a draft beer you're curious about? Just ask the bartender for a sample, she's such a sweetheart! Don't know what you want, just ask for a menu. Easy peasy! There's outdoor and indoor seating so you have a choice for where you want to chug your mug. I want to point out the venue is on the small scale. While the times I have been there were not crowded, there will be times where a stranger will be breathing down your neck. Just parallel park, cross your fingers, and hope for the best when you enter through the doors. read more

I love, love, love lil indies! This place has so many different vibes in one, especially since they opened the "dirty laundry" bar on the back patio. Inside you can hang on the eclectic Victorian couches, sit in the wooden booths staring at usually very creepy art or hang at the bar. They also have lots of tables outside but that is usually smoke-city. The bartenders are really friendly and know how to make a damn good drink. The menu is constantly changing and the drinks always cover a wide variety of spirits and tastes. They also have some great beers on draft and in the bottle if you don't want the hard stuff. And if you want to get a good cheap buzz on, head to the back patio for some bendejos (corona filled with tequila) and other beers and shots. There's usually always a food truck hanging around and my favorite nights to go are Wednesday's, when local singer Eugene Snowden gets his groove on for a late night show which will get LOUD and DIRTY. read more

You want a cool bar? You found it. Went here around 10:30 on a Friday night. The drinks are delicious, the vibe is chill inside and out, and the DJ spun sweet funk all night. People chatting and dancing, a brand new full bar and cocktail menu, and no more smoking inside! The last star is missing because I'm not sure how I feel about $10 cocktails outside of NYC. A quick stop over in Jacksonville, in particular Grape and Grain Exchange left Bokeh Studio and I hankering for Craft Cocktails in our hometown Orlando. On a quest to discover the best of O-town sips, we embarked on a journey, focusing only on stand-alone bars (no drool worthy bites in this episode of Primlani Kitchen). Since we are equal opportunity drinkers, we left the playing field fair by requesting these skilled bar maestros to make us one specialty cocktail that represents the personality of either the bar or the bartender. Here are the results in random order of the hottest cocktail bars, staffed with excellent craftsmen, in and around Orlando, at least in our humble view. Can't decide between cocktails or coffee? Snax Appeal - Rum, Vita Luna Cold Brew, Lemon, Coconut Milk, Demerara was aptly our last call or shall we say stop at Lil Indies. With each sip we discovered sparks of spice accompanied by jolts of caffeine and sweetness of coconut. If it was not for the American accent floating in the air, I could easily find myself transported in the tropical islands of Caribbean, tapping my feet to the beat of Reggae while leisurely sipping locally inspired rum cocktail. I finally made it here last night, after months wanting to check it out. After a movie and dinner, friends and I ended the night here...I mean, we really ended the night here, as in until the place started shutting down at 2 AM. I can't remember the last time I stayed up that late. I even ended up dancing at the end. The crowd was super cool. Lots of different types of people. I ran into some familiar faces too from other venues/restaurants around town. They had a DJ spinning some 80's dance music, with some 70's and 90's sprinkled in. The most notable for me was a mix of 80's freestyle, that my friend and I, and some of the other crowd really got into and nostalgic about. I heard they just added their full liquor bar, with some high quality stuff they make craft cocktails with. I heard some guy try to order a Long Island Iced Tea and the bartender tried to explain, in a nice way, that they have quality liquor here and can't make those types of drinks. If they did, it would cost way too much. There were 2 women bartenders, and there seemed to be a main one, which a friend told me owned the place(?), and the other bartender even mentioned to me that she's still not as good as her, but the drink she made me was excellent either way. I got to have 2 of those quality drinks, the Indie Rock (IR) and Home on the Range (HotR). I liked them both, but the HotR a little better because it took 2 IRs to have the same effect as 1 HotR. Although the IR had more tastes to it, so maybe it's a tie :/ Looking forward to the next time I come here and will be checking out their events more closely for now on. read more

Lil Indies is a lil hidden treasure. The atmosphere is very cozy and warm. They have plants and succulents adorning the front. The inside looks like a house with antique looking furniture and funky art. Most of the art is ever changing with different local artist pieces for sale. The best part about Lil Indies is the cocktails. They make really unique drinks that change every season. They put a lot of love into their cocktails. The bartenders are super friendly and helpful with finding a specialty drink directed at your preferences. If you don't like coctails they have local taps and brews in the house. My favorite night to come here is on Wednesday's for 10 Pints of Truth. It's live blues music by Eugene Snowden. Eugene will get you dancing and make you laugh. It gets crowded on nights like Wednesday. With that said the downside is you will wait a little bit for a drink during events cause the bar itself isn't huge. It's more so fit for slower nights. Crowded or not there is a surplus of seating all around the building and inside. Nights without events are usually moderately full. Some nights they also have local artist jamming out. You can catch the events on their Facebook page. If there is no live music going on they play really good indie bands. The crowd tends to be more artsy and young. A plus side though is no smoking inside. But lots of smoking outside. So if you hate smoke, this place is nice. Overall it's up there with other nice bars with character. read more

They've done a lot lately to update and expand this lil' rockin' bar. Conjoined to Will's Pub, this smaller bar now offers craft cocktails along with its previous beer and wine offerings. They have moved the entrance to the far left side of the building and added a back patio in addition to the front shared patio with Will's. They make 'em good and strong here so don't come looking for your favorite mojito or whatever-tini. Think more classic cocktail lounge with a twist. The new front room has vintage sofas in addition to the previous main room that has the built in wooden booths and the small bar area to the back left. Still the same Indies that you know but with more to love. My favorite thing about this place is the local spot feel. They certainly have regulars but even if you aren't one you still feel right at home. They also occasionally offer art or music shows, so keep an eye out for those. I have attended everything from a biker art night, to indie rappers, to a duo with a chello. read more

Adorable place! The staff is sweet, prompt, and the drinks are creative and very tasty. It is a little bit pricey for the fancy drinks, but they are worth it. I thought this place was awesome. I was catching up with a couple of college buddies and found this option on yelp. It's less loud/edgy than dirty laundry next door and perfectly appropriate for a cocktail with friends. The place is littered with antique furniture and it has a speakeasy feel to it. The bartenders all seemed skilled and accommodating, offering a menu of interesting and elevated drinks. I visited on a Thursday night and there was an incredible live entertainer. Most dive bars are small affairs, with dark lighting, loud music, reasonably price drinks, and friendly neighborhood folks. Lil Indies has all the charm of a dive bar, but without the negatives: it is smoke free, and has a clean, well-lit atmosphere. There is a decent size beer and wine selection, a couple booths, and though the area is small, it seems to be sufficient for the typical crowds that show up. There is only one bathroom, but the wait is never long. Overall a great place to have a few drinks with friends while avoiding loud blaring music and smoke of any kind. read more

This is by far my most favorite bar to come drink and listen to the DJ spin old school music. The drinks come at a fair priced tag to an expensive persons palette. The bartender Jeremy can make anything to your liking. His expertise spans from fruity to the whole hearted man that just wants some whiskey that's a bit different than his Don Draper Old Fashioned. I really dig lil indies! I have been a couple times but on the most recent, the inside bar area was crowded on a Saturday night (which is to be expected) but it took a while to order our three drinks and a PBR. Once we finally got the drinks, my Drug Mule was delicious but the other two drinks (which I can't remember the names of sadly!) I was told was just "okay". PBR was nice and cold just how I like it though! Sweet outside area too. Nothing better than sitting out there and enjoying the Mills view. read more

I don't care much for Will's because of the smoking... So when I heard of Lil Indies I assumed the same. I was completely wrong. Its perfectly small and rustic looking! One of the relatively few places in town to get yourself a real cocktail. It's dimly lit and small, but the bartenders know exactly what they're doing and the cocktails don't disappoint. The music isn't overpowering, and it's an enjoyable mix. Seating is apparently variable, in that when we got there, there were fewer tables inside than when we left. Not too sure what that was about. Everyone likes good, craft cocktails. I mean it's hipster central but, it's 2014 so you are either cool with hipsters in Orlando or you've moved to Seminole county. REALLY SMALL but a great experience. This place is like the Courtesy' s little sister who dropped out of high school but is arguably just as smart and talented.
