    Meat Jun and Mundoo

HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! Meat Jun and Mundoo was cooked in rancid, old oil! Jap Chae was good tho. Such a disappointment! How can you expect customers to return when you put out a crappy product!

I missed S&S from their Ka makana days and found them in Nanakuli. Their beef salad, Thom kha and pad see ew were still as yummy as I remember!

Small market in Nanakuli but inside there sale Thai, Korea, sushi and smoothies. i tried there Basil Eggplant Chicken and Kalbi taste good, better than other place i used to tried but nothing special. Inside there have only one table for serving customer. I bought a Thai Fish sauce for making Papaya Salad at home also.

Wouldn't recommend this place. The meat Jun was like cardboard and the pad Thai was super dry.

I got there probably around the last time I was able to be seated, but the staff were very friendly. The order did seem to take a little bit longer than I would've expected, but they were still pretty busy considering it was like an hour before closing. The Thai tea was nice and fresh + not overly sweet, the salad was so delicious, the drunken noodles were flavorful, and the sticky rice was soooo good. Would recommend and go back if I visit again.

The eggplant was cooked well and packed with flavor, while the mango sticky rice was a nice way to finish the meal. The Thai iced tea was refreshing and went well with everything. The restaurant has a nice decor that feels welcoming and a nice large outdoor seating area, and the service was friendly throughout our visit. Street parking can be a little tough to find depending on when you go, but there are designated parking spaces/structures nearby which made it manageable. Overall, a solid spot for Thai and Lao food, and I'd be happy to come back and try more from the menu.

But since that place was a…read morefood truck, I used yelp to see where I could get Lao sausage regularly and this place popped up. Cheun Wea was great reviews and they have a great authentic looking selection. They're located in the Maunakea Market food court and they might be the only Thai/Lao place there. When I go to this food court, I usually am there for Maguro Bros, but I was on the hunt for Lao sausage and Maguro Bros was closed anyway. The shared space is honestly a little claustrophobic for me. And there are some interesting smells. I prefer to eat outside or take my food to go, which isn't a problem. I stood at the counter for a bit before the nice lady worker acknowledged me. She called me sister lol. I asked for a sausage and a side of sticky rice. It was $7 and came in a ziploc bag. It was the perfect light lunch. The sausage was a bit spicy, but it was really good. I also got a mango sticky rice, which was affordable and delicious. It didn't have any sauce, but that would have made it too messy. It was basically a mango sticky rice musubi. At least that's how I ate it lol. I'll definitely be back for the sausage. Maybe next time I'll try some of the other entree dishes.

With any good Lao/Thai/Cambodian food I look for certain criteria to be met- food should have a good balance of salty, sweet, & spicy. Wherever I travel I always make it a habit to Yelp some good Laotian eats if possible. You can imagine how excited I was to stumble across Cheun Wea Lao Thai Fast Food. I immediately bookmarked and hoped in the car to make my way to Chinatown. As a forewarning this business is located in the food court @ stall #117. Avoid walking around like a crazy person the way I did- this stall can easily get overlooked if you aren't careful. Do not expect to find the "Cheun Wea Lao Thai" signage, all we saw during our visit was "Thai Food". Food for the visit consisted of: Amok- steamed fish curry Lao Style Papaya Salad [extra spicy] Seafood Pad Thai Overall I would rate this visit 3 stars. I get that this is a fast food joint but all the promises of "authentic" Lao food really had me anticipating MORE. Dishes were held back on the spice level and the fermented fishiness that Lao food is known for so it simply didn't hit the spot for me. Maybe the traffic coming through is more Americanized and the business caters to their palate?? Either way, customer service is amazing from the owner & employees. Items are made fresh and are able to be customized to your liking. Definitely worth a try...

The owner asked me to pick out my own coconut out of the cooler that was filled with ice cold water. I obviously went for the largest one and then she asked " do you want more water or more meat in your coconut?" I wanted more coconut water than the pulp "meat" so she suggested that I grab a younger coconut "smaller" one. She explained that the bigger /older The coconut is, the less water it has but the more "meat" it contains. I went ahead and opted for a younger one and this thing was FULL of water. She grabbed a huge machete style knife and went to work on it.. it was a bit scary seeing the danger that these small businesses owners go through in opening these things to please us tourists. She was amazing at it. I do need to note the following. My husband does not like the taste of coconut, because obviously we are used to a certain taste which is what we are taught to believe coconuts taste like... but her loved this one! young fresh coconuts do not taste like anything "mainstream coconut flavor". It is a refreshing soft, delicate flesh which has a soft set jelly type of texture. It is slightly watery and you will taste the coconut water in it, think of Chinese jelly with very little sugar, almost buttery and melty. The water itself is very refreshing with a very little hint of flavor. We both really enjoyed our island fresh coconut experience and highly recommend you buy at least one!
