Wonderful food and service! Our party of five shared the five dishes we ordered. Noodles were all made to order, and spice preferences were adhered to. The true flavors of the ingredients either alone or blended were distinctive. Table service was courteous, prompt, and friendly. The place seats 14 in total (7 tables of two, which can be moved together to accommodate larger parties). We got there a little after 1:30, as a party of two and another of four were finishing their meals. A customer came in to pick up an order. It was pretty quiet, but U Mass's spring semester had ended earlier in the week and the town was quiet. This place is a worthwhile find well worth some extra travel! read more

THIS IS THE BEST CHINESE RESTAURANT IN AMHERST!!!! The waiters are all very nice and gentle. The whole place is not big and not small. They have many choices of food and it comes very fast. The food was done in like 5-10 minutes for me. I strongly recommend pork burger and Liang-Pi cold noodles. They all come very fresh and hot. There are only 4 tables but most customers take out. This. Exactly what we need more of around here: Real-deal regional Chinese cuisine. Just when I started getting tired of driving to Boston or NYC for it, they opened Lili's. I hope more follow suit. The dishes we tried were all delicious. The dumplings and their dipping sauce had unique flavors, the pork with pulled noodles did as well; a warming blend of spices that I couldn't quite put my finger on. So good. I've never been to central China, but this is what I should imagine a home-cooked meal in Xi'an would taste like. The folks who run the joint are lovely as well. I shall definitely be going back. After experiencing pulled noodles for the first time at a wonderful hole-in-the-wall establishment in Boston, I was hooked; but sadly there was nowhere in the valley area to find Xi'an cuisine at home. So I was delighted to find out about Lili's opening in Amherst. The owner was extremely welcoming and helpful. I can't stress enough how pleasant he was. The restaurant is small (a few small tables) and most people will probably get take out, but we live far enough way that we chose to eat in and on a Tuesday this wasn't a problem. The menu has a small selection of items which is similar to the place in Boston that we liked. My wife and I both got the biang biang noodles with pork. Heavenly! And only 30 mins away instead of two hours! We also had the pork and leek dumplings as an appetizer which we also recommend. Our friend had the chicken with hot pepper combo which he devoured as well. Low prices for good food which is unique to the area? You bet we'll be coming back. Perhaps this weekend, since weekends are the only days that cold noodles are available and we're dying to try that. read more

Phenomenal! We walked in and the woman at the counter was literally cutting the noodles! Fresh noodles are hard to come by. I got the Biang Biang noodles which she asked how spicy and I said very. Did not disappoint! I am glad I live an hour away or I'd be here too often. My boyfriend got the #9 soup with pork with cilantro and she asked for spice level, he went hot. Legit amazing. We've been talking about it for hours after the meal. It's a cute, clean space and you can see into kitchen. Woman came over to check on us a few times anddd offered house made hot sauce! The restaurant is really good. Although they have a very limited menu, but the food I tried was really good. I had leek dumplings and biang biang noodles. I saw a post on FB in which Gypsy Apple owner Michaelangelo indicated this was one of his places. I had to try. Now I know why. I dont know of better Chinese food in the Valley. The fiddlehead pork and lilac flower pork dumplings were....well frickin great! The other dishes were spectacular. Great balance of flavors. I was in the mood for noodles on the cheap. I saw the review for this place and the picture of the limited menu got my attention. It reminded me of another mom-and-pop noodle place that I really liked. They make these stick to your ribs homemade broad noodles that are definitely worth trying. I had the shredded pork soup. The noodles were fantastic but the broth seemed a little dull even though spicy. Maybe that's just the typical regional style, but I felt like I needed to squeeze some lime into it (probably a no no). The dumplings were great, and my friends enjoyed what they ordered. I'd definitely go back if I lived nearby. The cook and his wife are from Western China and do a great job, very personable and accommodating. read more
