It's great for both vegans and non vegans because they offer items that are so good my family can barely tell the difference. This time we ordered a Large Blanco pizza which was great because there was plenty to take home for lunches throughout the week. I had the Tex-Mex burger for the first time. It came with a choice of house-made black bean burger, Impossible patty or Beyond patty. I chose the Beyond and I'm really happy I did because it was so good. Normally I would suggest a Cubano sandwich but they were out chick'n and waffles is great too. But today the burger really hit the spot. I had my choice of fresh greens or roasted potatoes which was a no-brainer. These potatoes are the best. I ordered a second order for my Mom to take home. She loves them. Imagine biting into a firm roasted potato skin with a velvety buttery mashed potato inside. Yeah, it's that kind of good! Today was a bonus, I accumulated enough points for a free small pizza of my choice! Heck yeah, that heats up nicely back home for lunches at work during the week. What a treat to find someplace 100% plant based with such an appealing menu! My adult daughter has been vegetarian for 30+ years and so often when we dine out she is stick getting the same boring veggie burgers or salads that most restaurants offer for vegetarians. The restaurant is low key - if you are dining in, you order at the counter, are given a number and your food is delivered to your table. We enjoyed sitting by a wall mounted fireplace that created a nice ambiance for our night out eating delicious and healthy food. Sooo tasty and well worth the wait! We constantly missed getting in (closed Saturdays and latest 7 PM (some days earlier) -- so maybe we were too eager today. We had the almond joy and the elderberry iced tea to drink. Then, who can resist sweet corn tamales? Not us! They went perfectly with the cream and guac! I had a lovely lunch at Pulse Cafe. It's a casual, family friendly and nicely appointed spot to a quick meal, although you could linger if you wanted to. While it's vegan, several in our group weren't vegan and found plenty to eat. I was particularly fond of the smoothies, with the piña colada one being my favorite. We tried a couple of the calzones. Don't let the name fool you. Pulse is way more than a café. You get to choose from a full menu, which is apparently different during the week. Also, there is a small market, which we didn't take the time to explore this time. Our host is local, and chose this place for the one vegetarian in the party, moi! Our meals: the crimini calzone, the chimichurri burger with Impossible burger, and the "chicken" and waffle. All were consumed and enjoyed, and the omnivores liked their choices as much as I did. I had the black bean burger with the guacamole, etc., and the side of sweet potatoes and it was all so very good. Quite a healthy lunch really. This was not what I was expecting. So many delicious options! I really loved their black bean burger. The chocolate mousse, too! The food was filling with high quality and good portions. Atmosphere is rustic, but classy. Service was good - we came in just as they were closing, but they were good enough to serve us anyway. The only downside is their weird hours. Check before you go. The building is indeed cavernous. There was a very long line when we opened the door. People were ordering pizzas and other complex items. The good part is that the restaurant customizes. The bad part is that each order took a lot of time and there is only one person at the counter. You find a table in one of the rooms after you order and display a number. I am not often a huge fan of vegetarian restaurants with lots of vegan food however this place has amazingly delicious fresh food that tasted like it deserved a five out of five star rating. I highly recommend this location to anyone wanting healthy fresh delicious food. There were so many different options of things to order from gluten free pizza, to salads, to black bean burgers. The Caesar salad had the most delicious dressing, croutons and smoked tofu. I typically don't even like tofu but it was perfect and tasty. My friend had the black bean cheeseburger and she said it was delicious. The eggplant calzone was perfection with had nut cheese that was so creamy and melted perfectly. Brought my omnivore parents here for lunch during the week. They weren't very excited because they typically like to eat meat but I am vegan and couldn't wait to try this place out. The place is large, open and beautiful. Very clean. The staff was nice. My dad ordered Mac n cheeze and it was the best Mac n cheese any of have ever had. He loved it! My mom ordered a gluten free blanco pizza that was delicious. She loved it. I ordered Buffalo chicken pizza. It was also very good but I liked their meals better. It was pricy but worth it. Strategically located between the two neighborly college towns of Northampton and Amherst, this palatial restaurant evokes the welcoming experience of a college dining hall. With the food all vegan and its diverse ethnic clientele either veg or leaning, I adored this café from the moment I drove down the long driveway set so far back off Route 9 that the motorized hum of that busy highway was barely audible from its spacious parking lot. Indeed, while dining outdoors seated on the sturdy all-season stone tables, rather than car traffic we heard the songs of red-winged blackbirds perched atop native cattails (no invasive phragmites here!) on the surrounding marshland that buffers this restaurant from the hubbub of civilization. The ambiance is heavenly. The food nearly so. The Burger menu is enhanced with the choice of Gold Potatoes or Sweet Potatoes, both perfectly roasted. (If you happen not to order a Burger, do get the Potatoes as Small Plates.) The Black Bean Burger is noteworthy, but can greatly benefit if its spongiform white flour "artisan" bun were upgraded to whole grain. The rest of the menu of Pizzas, Bowls, and Salads consists mostly of wholesome foods, but is sullied by the Burger added choice of the two leading brands of industrialized mock meat burgers suitable only for omnivores who wish they were vegans, and for vegans who wish they weren't. With these two nonfoods frequently sold at non-veg restaurants, veg restaurants have no call to lower their nutritional standards. If Pulse dropped these noxious ultra-processed burgers from the menu, this café could ascend to become a true Vegan Heaven. Easily overlooked because it is located in an adjoining room, the Juice Bar provides nourishing liquid libations to enhance the nourishing solid fare. That day's two soups-of-the-day, Pea Soup and the Ginger Carrot, both are excellent. In addition to two for dine-in, a wider array of soups awaits you in the takeout fridge. Better still, that fridge offers other side dishes, too. Lucky us, we drove home with takeout Potato Salad to save for later, and it indeed was worthy of savoring as a dessert. We ate here on a weekday in the summer when the college crowd was largely absent, so the dining areas both indoors and outdoors were roomy and peaceful. My wife found this gem while on a trip to see Smith college for one of our daughters. We had worked up an appetite after taking the university tour and we needed food. OMG...this place was amazing. Pulse is a huge building, with a parking lot to match. I see outdoor festivities in their future, if not being done already. There is a small market area with cold drinks like water, and you order at the register to have the food brought out to you. The cashew mozzarella on the pizza was very light and fluffy, almost marshmallow-like without the sugar. The Mac and cheese I wish was a bit creamier, but it was hard to tell it was vegan. Because it has this enormous parking lot, you're never quite sure that it is open even when there may be several cars in the parking lot. Unlike some other modern trendy restaurants, this has a very homey feeling inside, and offers brick oven fired fare. The smell of vegetables roasting in the oven's gives this place a very delicious fresh farmhouse aroma. I love going to place I can find food that I would not think of making at home, or that I can't make at home. I paid $18 for the fresh lemonade and two items I ordered, but I received a dinner's worth of food.
