Decided to try this place out today for lunch w/ my wife, we had passed an opening soon sign a few weeks ago and tried to see if there was a website with more info but could not find one. A previous poster indicated that they were open so we headed over. Really good food. The menu is small and pork-centric. A woman rolled out and pulled out noodles to order for the biang biang noodles w/ pork. Great texture on the noodle, firm and delicious. The stewed pork over the noodle was extremely flavorful and simple. We also got the pork sandwich, which was excellent. The pork is seasoned with 5 spice and had a nice saltiness and fatty-ness to it. The star of the show for me was the porn and leek dumpling, it came with a dipping sauce but really didn't need it. I pretty much had to roll myself out because I ate so much and it was 28 bucks with tip for 2 people. The workers were very nice and gracious. I will be back! read more

This place is the definition of fresh homemade quality. It is run by truly caring and passionate proprietors who make some of the best fresh dumplings I've ever experienced. The menu is small, but this just means that every item on it has been perfected and practiced. The Biang Biang noodles are my absolute favorites. Really tasty noodle shop in the middle of town. There's space for maybe 20 diners and the decor is nothing special. In fact, looks like a take out place. The food however will have me coming back. Had the hand pulled noodles with stewed pork, the leek dumplings and the chicken fried rice. The noodles were excellent. Great texture, nice balanced flavors, with a sprinkling of the pork. Would highly recommend. The dumplings were very tasty and moist, not dry. I usually prefer potstickers, but these were very good. Not sure if I would order the chicken fried rice again. Not bad, and nothing wrong with it, just average compared to the other dishes. Overall, a great place for a college town and definitely recommend with those expectations in mind. read more

Don't be deterred by the small menu -- what they do, they do really well! The house-made noodles were fantastic, and my date and I liked the pork and leek dumplings so much that we ordered a second plate. We both agreed that we would come back a second time and beyond! Good quick lunch place. Vegetable biang biang noodles are tasty. Handmade on order. I wish they were at least a little spicy, because although they look spicy, they aren't even a bit. No-frills mom-n-pop shop with a tiny menu, most of which is whatever. But the biang biang handmade noodles are a gift from God. Get them with stewed pork and a tea egg. Great stuff. Girlfriend and I the hand-pulled noodles, pork and cabbage dumplings, and pork sandwich. Noodles were pleasantly chewy, good mix of tang and chili oil in the sauce. Pork burger was well-spiced (clove, cilantro) on a crispy English-muffin-esque bun. Great service. read more

This may be the best kept secret in downtown Amherst: a welcoming Chinese restaurant with wonderful, homey food that is not trying to be all things to all people, but rather offering a menu of delicious Xi'an style meals. My friend and I ordered the #9, a spicy version of soup noddles with pork stew: hearty homemade noodles in a richly flavored stock with braised pork and a garnish of chile paste, cilantro and chopped scallion. So good, and an amazing value for $10! We're already planning to return for the dumplings and chicken fried rice. read more

It is rare that I have the pleasure of writing such an across-the-lines positive review, but then, it is special to find a from-scratch, made-with-care restaurant with terrific service. It is a counter-service spot, but amenable to turning hot tea into iced tea for us and giving us extra veg instead of rice. Even without that, I'd be recommending their hand-pulled Biang Biang noodles. Just perfect. We also enjoyed their dumplings and stewed pork on a bed of napa. This place serves great food but the menu is limited. I ordered the pork pulled noodles and pork bun when I came here with my friend. The noodles were pretty greasy in my opinion but the pork bun was good. I wanted to try the dumplings but they were all sold out. I wish this place was a bit larger because my friend and I couldn't get a place to sit. Just came back from Beijing and this place has to be the best xian restaurant this side of the yellow River, outside of New York! The biangbiang noodles are delicious and the flavor profile is just right, especially if you ask for the house made chili oil. The roujiamo ( say "Roger Moore") has a non authentic bun but actually I prefer this chewier style, and the meat filling is less fatty than you'd get in China. That's probably just as well for my arteries. Really nice people and am already craving the noodles again. Real biangin' noodles! read more

I love Lili's!!!!!!!!! The food here tastes very fresh, flavorful, and homemade. I ate here a few weeks ago and, what I assume to be the owner, greeted me immediately and helped me decide what to order from the menu. Before I walked in, I noticed that she was sitting and chatting with her customers. She answered my questions and I really felt welcome here! The place is spotless, too. This place was amazing! It's a family run restaurant and we watched the Dad pull the home made noodles then tear them into perfect noodle widths. The flavors on the #2 were very good. Just tried Lili's and was excellent. I had the pork dumplings w Chinese cabbage. Very well made. Lili is the very friendly woman who used to work at amhchi and her husband Nait also works at umass-- notice that they have all perfect scores so far- I think because they're very friendly and make only a few things, but very well.
