Fortunately today there was a community yoga class (Swift Fit Events), plus a succulent class (East side succulents). This allowed us the opportunity to explore and enjoy the property. We brought our mother along to enjoy, and she quickly made friends. There is a lovely market filled with fresh produce, plus other local goods. Everyone was friendly, and helpful. The restrooms are very accessible, and clean! So happy to have this precious gem in Austin! Thank You

I would say this farmers market is more purchasing food and products. There was only one vegetable stand and one stand with meat/eggs. Upon entry I saw the most unique bird houses, where I'm excited to purchase one for a new place. Food items I purchased included chocolate from Ecuador, tres leches cake, and some potstickers. The dumplings are 6 for $12.00 but they threw in an extra dumpling for me, which I appreciated. I got the pork dumplings. They were fresh, hot and steamy. I found a place to sit in the sun at a picnic table. Plugged in my head phone, cranked some music and enjoy my dumplings. Gorgeous day to be out in the sun. Nice breeze, and warm temps. Perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

It feels like there's something for everyone! The owners are so friendly too and very welcoming. What I really appreciate is how convenient the parking is. There are plenty of garage spots available, so you don't have to stress about finding a place to park. And since it's located right at The Domain, you can make a whole day out of it -- shop, eat, and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun and laid-back weekend outing!

The article said "call first!" - so I did, and talked to super-friendly owner Bill McCranie. He gave me the lowdown on how the blueberry crop looked, when would be the best time to come, and specific directions. On a beautiful June morning, we packed up the kids and headed out. It took less than an hour to get there from Central Austin, mostly along 290, about 15 miles past Elgin. After getting through the cattle gate, we were greeted by a big group of very friendly dogs (our kids were a bit afraid at first, but warmed up quickly). Bill came to meet us, gave us buckets and some good advice (don't touch the electrified fence wire, don't worry about the cows - they are friendly, watch for fire ants, etc.) and we got to work. There were TONS of berries the morning we were there, and the kids were thrilled. We ended up getting about $50 in blueberries (at $7 a pint) - as fresh as they come and totally organic. There is nothing like eating a just-picked blueberry right off the bush, still warm from the sun. It was a great outing, and a great way to support a sustainable, earth-friendly business. The posting by Hoa N. covers pretty much what you will need to bring, so I won't repeat it here, except to re-emphasize the "closed-toed shoes" advice. Bill would prefer you call first before heading out so that he can let you know if someone will be there to let you in. He'll also let you know if there is enough fruit out to make the trip worthwhile, and provide very specific directions. The farm isn't marked with any signage, so follow Bill's instructions carefully. Bill, spouse Nancy and family have great plans for their farm - they plan to add fishing and other activities as time and effort permits. We'll be going out there again for sure as they grow.

Nothing beats picking fresh blueberries off the tree and eating as you go along. The property is beautiful and an overall great place to take the kids for a weekend out in nature. We're looking forward to going back and taking our son on a tractor ride, fishing for catfish or purchasing some grass fed beef!!

This morning I stopped by to say "Hi" and the woman who runs the booth packed a bag full of squash, zucchini and cucumbers and would not let me pay for them -see attached picture for how full my free bag of veggies was!!!! Squash is one of my favorite veggies and the only reason I do not grow my own is that they attract so many pests to the rest of my garden; so, I am so thankful that I can get garden fresh squash here. They set up a booth every Saturday in the SW corner of the Sunset Valley Farmers Market next to the Austin Boxer Rescue. If you love tender fresh squash and zucchini like I do I highly recommend them!

I tried out this seaweed because I heard from the grower that he was getting going on it. So, I…read moreimpulsively decided to visit him at the Market one Saturday morning. And I had no idea just how "getting going on it" my friend was. He was having a good time out there, chatting with folks about his aquatic product. I purchased a couple combo packs and vamoosed forthwith. The first time I tried the weed, I didn't rinse it, and I just snacked on it. It tasted a bit too salty, but that was also kind of interesting because it reminded me of being at the beach! Later on, I found out he was selling via Wheatsville, so I purchased a package from there. What I like about the way he packages his stuff is this: 1) there is plenty of veggie goodness in there; I snack on it by myself and by itself, and it's a very filling salad; you may want to use it as two or three portions for a more varied salad or soup 2) the packaging is made of bio-plastic, so there's no question of how to dispose of it; no matter what, it's just going to break down out there in a not-so-bad way My later snackings on the seaweed have been improved in my opinion because I've started lightly rinsing the product before tasting. With just a hint of saltiness, you can really appreciate the texture and inherent flavor of the plant. YUM!

I know Daily Juice has them, and I heard Wheatsville too. Honestly, the guy who sells this stuff is a genius. Like a modern day Renaissance man, this guy does it all. C'mon, he's like a mad scientist farming at his small headquarters (which I hope he calls his lair) and bringing it fresh to all of us. Almost like a sea weed Jesus. If you read his blog/website (http://austinseaveggies.com/) he sounds like a cool dude. Maybe one day we'll cross paths, party and talk about science. Who knows? Its possible.
