NIGHTMARE AT LIME TREE. I stayed there last October. My experience was so bad I did not want to relive it til now. I am a senior citizen, 68 years. I was fishing on their dock last October alone. Two bad guys came in and docked with their boat. They kicked my fishing box in the water with my phone and car keys in the water. I ran to the reception area and spoke to who I was told was Terry. I told her to call the police and if she could help me get a snorkling mask so I could dive for my keys and phone. SHE TOLD ME IT WAS NOT THEIR CONCERN AND REFUSED TO HELP ME AT ALL AND TOLD ME TO LEAVE THE RECEPTION AREA AND TOLD THE WORKERS THERE NOT TO HELP ME!! So , I lost my phone, vehicle keys, fishing gear, subject to bullies and at same time ABUSED BY LIMETREE. The breakfasts were old and stale food and my toilet clogged up and the room was sandy. read more

I'll start by saying watch out for their hidden $15 fee because when you book a room for 4 they only expect you to have 2 people then charge you for the additional two. In addition to this the staff was pretty rude when telling us. Next, a few of the hand sanitizing stations around the property don't work. Lastly... my boyfriend woke up this morning covered in bites on his hands and our other friend had some other bites from the day before. They look like bed bug bites. The hotel blamed it on no see ums however, we never came in contact with those because I'm very familiar with them. Stay away from this place. The continental breakfast was disgusting too. I came here for my anniversary trip, it wasn't a cheap hotel so I had pretty high standards for the trip. The check-in went smoothly and we were in a room that opens to the ocean which was beautiful. The bed was rickety and the bathroom was the smallest one I've ever been in, the shower had mold in the grout and it wasn't drying properly so the whole room was moist. There's only one pool that goes to 4.5ft which seemed like a kiddy pool and the ocean really isn't accessible. The paddle boards and kayaks and such are free which are nice but the water is full of algae. Breakfast is a few pastries, bagels and croissants, nothing to write home about. The restaurant is amazing, the food is so good and we ate there for most of the meals. Overall, for the money I wish I stayed somewhere nicer and that has better beach since that was advertised heavily and the room wasn't that great either. read more

Really pleased with this resort. I would definitely come back. Got early check in and late check out. The staff really was accommodating. We had to switch our rooms because we needed a additional bed. Previous booked the townhouse off site and I'm SO GLAD we did. Our view of the bay was amazing the room was so spacious high ceilings. Perfect for 4 adults. My only con was the breakfast was mostly pastry's but it was free. It's about a 20 min drive from central islandmorada so most restaurants was a little drive. But I do love how quiet and spacious the resort is itself sometimes it's nice to be away from the chaos. This a great family style resort with onsite kayaks for free etc there's a small beach. Dock for fishing. The pool is beach style so walking in is great. Go Lime Tree! I'm coming back for my birthday. read more

Used to love this place. And kept coming back... even though they had so many issues after the pandemic. Like ants and bugs and no real maid service. Technology issues and a wifi that they still can't get to work. It was just "our place". We loved it because my husband and I were so in love there. Memories will do that. But it's a trash dump and a money sucker. The last straw was the incredibly rude staff that has taken charge. Not only do they not give a single care for long time guests anymore. They are just down right rude. There are so many better places for the price they think they are worth. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Awesome! This resort is so great, we had the best time staying here for 5 nights over June / July this year. We checked in on a Friday and checked out on a Wednesday and don't have any complaints. The grounds are beautiful! The place is super clean and very well maintained. The location is perfect - its out of the hustle and bustle of Islamorada but still close enough to drive to restaurants. Easy access to other parts of the keys as well, since its essentially mid way from the top to bottom. Although the resort seemed fully booked, there was always a hammock and chairs available at the sandy area and the pool. Our room was great - the beds are super comfortable and the room is spacious. We took advantage of the mini fridge and microwave. The AC kicked butt, our room was always cool and comfy after coming in from the FL heat. We loved the free bike, kayak and paddle boards available to us. So easy to use, just sign the waiver. The next door restaurant, The Florida Boy, is pretty good. We had the continental breakfast every morning and we ate lunch here one day. The proximity to the resort is super convenient. The owner lady, office and maintenance people are very friendly and helpful. The maid staff did a great job each day. Everything was perfect. We will stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

All i have to say is WOW. I've been staying here since i was about 5 years old with my family. We usually get the Zane Grey Townhouses across from the main resort. They are still beautiful and clean to this day! The pool, the dock, the atmosphere is awesome. We kept our boat out back and saw some manatees and was a great time! The restaurant across the street is absolutely amazing (will also do a review on that) Friendly people in the office, and just overall a great place, especially to watch the sunset! read more

Stayed there for one night last weekend. They've done a great job improving the grounds and updating the rooms. Room 120 was very comfortable; great AC, new shower with glass partition and rainfall head. Comfortable bed with clean sheets. Little mini-refrigerator to store snacks. There a restaurant on-premises that serves continental breakfast for resort guests. All-in-all; like the place before... now I love it! We stayed here one night while visiting the Keys. When we checked in to our room, we discovered that there was water leaking from under the toilet in the bathroom. We called the reception about this and when the maintenance man arrived, he worked on the toilet for a while. He told us that he had to remove the toilet in order to work on it and that we'd have a terrible smell for a while. He handed us keys to an upgraded room upstairs; we appreciated the hotel's consideration for this. Both our original room and our upgraded room were nice (though the upstairs room had a bigger, nicer bed, much more living space, a larger fridge, and a MUCH nicer shower). The resort is right in front of the water, with kayaks, paddle boards, and bicycles freely available. There is one pool and one hot tub. You can also walk out and sit on deck chairs on the dock. We tried to watch some YouTube videos before bed, but the Internet was very spotty. If you need Internet for business travel, this could be an issue. Because the resort is located right along U.S. 1, we could hear some road traffic at night. Breakfast is at 7:30-9:30 AM and is offered at the Florida Boy Bar and Grill, right next to the hotel rooms. I was disappointed that the breakfast was mostly bagels, muffins, bread, and cereal without many protein options. Overall, this is a nice, relaxing, and clean place to stay. The staff were all very kind and accommodating. If it had a better breakfast, more stable Internet, and more sound-proofing of the rooms, I'd be happy to give this venue 5 stars. read more

We just spent a couple days at Limetree Bay Resort and had the best time!! We were lucky enough to get a room right on the beach with a full kitchen. We had fun cooking on site and not having to go out to a restaurant. (My husband is a great cook!) We kayaked and snorkled each day. It was perfect. It made for a very romantic few days. This was a last minute stay, they allowed us to check in super early. The front receptionist was very personable, are room was very clean and we had a beautiful view. You could rent bikes, kayaks and paddle boards and it was all Included in the stay or if you wanted to rent a boat you could walk over to Pier 68. We fished from the dock they had and just relaxed and enjoyed our stay. We will be coming back to this resort for sure to enjoy some more time. read more

BOTH POOLS AND THE JACUZZI ARE CLOSED. That makes a huge difference in whether or not we wanted to stay here and we feel lied to as the hotel website boasts two heated swimming pools and a jacuzzi. It's false advertising, to say the least. Lime Tree Bay resort is a very secluded spot (publix, McDonald's like 20 min away). Not much to do around the area, but the resort offers free kayaking, bike rentals, and paddle boards. Rooms are serviced every three days. The sunsets and private beach are beautiful and the rooms are very nice. We liked the large chess game, ping pong table, and corn hole. We were so excited to stay here, but the lack of pools and distance from everything really put a damper on our week. read more

I really really really really really loved this place. I think my favorite wasn't the bay area, the pool, the rooms or the staff.. but it was all of the above including the homey feeling I received from this resort. The second you pull up to this place you realize you are entering a beautiful property and it comes with that "I'm home" feeling, instantly. Not only was this place the first real Key experience for my boyfriend and I but it was everything I imagined a resort would be in the Florida Keys. The location of this resort is prime. Smack dab in the middle of the Florida Keys on Long Key. We planned this on purpose because we wanted to be able to explore both sides of the keys without having to travel many hours to each side. Key West was a little over an hour and Key Largo was just about the same. This really came in handy because we had booked a day of snorkeling on an upper island and also wanted to have a day of exploring Key West the following day. Anyway, upon entering the lobby of Lime Tree Bay Resort, my boyfriend and I were greeted by the most wonderful front desk associate. I really wish I could remember her name but I can't for the life of me. She was the sweetest and beyond helpful. Upon checking in she gave us a FULL run down about the hotel and the area surrounding. I've never received so much useful information during a check in or have I ever been checked in to a hotel with such care and kindness! The entire hotel was gorgeous. Lots of lounge areas filled with relaxing chairs and hammocks, huge clusters of palm trees(very jungle-like in some spots), an abundance of wildlife(cute crabs and lizards running around, even a pair of doves that seemed to love Lime Tree Bay Resort because we saw them every single day!), a dock that stretched out into the Gulf of Mexico, a very useful pool and hot tub and a few scattered cook out areas for all your beach grilling needs! We were directed to park behind the hotel so after check in we did just that. We knew exactly where our rooms were without even looking thanks to the kind lady at the front desk... so we made our way there from the parking area. Our room was on the ground floor which I appreciated very much. Once we arrived to our room I quickly noticed the two cute rocking chairs and table we had on our little walkway by our hotel door, loved it. The door to our room faced the Gulf which was excellent... nothing like waking up in the morning, stepping outside and seeing the crystal clear water. Our hotel room was small but perfect. You don't need a large room when you're in the keys, unless you plan on staying in your room the whole time I guess. It had a beach-y homey theme to it. The bed was king sized and extremely comfortable..... I think there was a couple nights that I didn't move once....TV remote in hand and all, haha. There was a huge desk over by the window and on the other side of the room there was a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. Our room had ample storage space including the cabinets and closet. The bathroom was extremely small which I didn't mind but if you are a larger person this could be an issue, especially in stand up shower. The bathroom came with clean towels, make up remover wipes (very useful, although I brought my own), shampoo and tropical smelling soap! The hotel offered free breakfast, which did the trick for our hungry morning stomachs. Breakfast included bagels, muffins, danishes, coffee & OJ ! It's free, so no need to complain! In the lobby there is also an espresso machine which I loved using. The hotel also offered free pool towels that you have to sign out, but can use during your stay and free use of kayaks, which if we had more time at this hotel we would've totally used those. This hotel had everything we would ever need and for the price we paid I would most likely stay here every time I go to the Keys. It was peaceful, relaxing, and very enjoyable. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful, the grounds were beautiful and the rooms were clean and homey. All in all, if you want peace of mind and a place to just relax on vacation....I would recommend Lime Tree Bay Resort. read more

We stayed here for a Mothers Day's Weekend Trip. We called the resort directly and booked one of the 3 bed 3 bath townhouses. These townhouses are across the Busy Overseas Highway on the Zane Grey property. There are 10 units, one of which is permanently rented out to the Volunteer Fire Department. Each Unit has three floors, and there is a pool, grill, and canal access for the unit. All wonderful!!! The pool was great! The Grill was Awesome, since I grill almost every night....and they provided the propane. Had we had a small boat, I'm sure we would have used the canal access. The units are adorable on the outside, and the grounds are well maintained. The main report grounds however need a little updating. Some of the chairs are falling apart, but the view.....WOW! We watched the sunset each night. The staff was accommodating and very sweet. Apparently this is a Family Owned Resort, and they worked with us on a huge misunderstanding. The website makes it look like Dogs are welcome at the townhouses, However they were not. The website needs to be more clear on this, and I informed the booking staff that we were bringing the dogs. The house though, just looked well used.....sad! The couch was flat, the sitting chair in the living area was also flat. the floors were covered with a layer of dirt, and i had to buy a swiffer at the Publix over 20 minutes away, to clean the floors on both the middle and third floors. There was only a TV in the living room and in the Master bedroom, the other two bedrooms did not have one. There wasn't even alarm clocks in the bedrooms. There were nicks in the walls, scrapes and nobs missing on the furniture, and broken fixtures on the fans. The Wifi worked okay, but slower on the third floor. The Bedrooms had what they say were Queen Size Beds, but they barely fit myself and my Husband. We did not sleep well at all! I also had to wash the comforter on the bed, it had what looked like dried vomit on it! Gross! Overall it was a nice stay, just not a spectacular one. read more

This is a great option if you are traveling with a group to the Keys and want the more-laid back experience over the party scene experience. You are a good ways from Key West and the chaos that comes with it, but you have plenty of options here. Our group rented the three bedroom townhouse, which was perfect. Overlooking the canal (Atlantic side, I guess?), with a pool and bbq grills right outside our front door, we really enjoyed the amenities. A few glitches we didn't realize until check-in: -Our unit was across the street from the main property, so crossing the street was a bit annoying at times, waiting for traffic to let up. -The nearest grocery store is 40 miles away, so be prepared if you plan to take advantage of the full sized kitchen. -We brought a jet ski on a trailer, and were not able to park on the grounds. There's a marina about a mile away where you can park but there is a small fee for keeping your vehicle/trailer there overnight. But whatever, once I sat in one of the many hammocks on the gulf side property all my stresses were gone! There's another pool located on the gulf side overlooking the water, which seemed to be the party pool during my stay. We enjoyed the pool and took advantage of the kayaks offered by the resort, as well as ate a few great meals under the tiki huts. The unit was nice and the beds were comfy. It was three floors, with one bedroom on the second floor (the main living area and kitchen are on the second as well), and two bedrooms on the third floor. Only the master bedroom had a TV in it, which seemed odd, but we were so tired from being out on the water all day it didn't even matter. I really enjoyed the balcony off the living room. It was relaxing to look out over the water while having a glass of wine or morning coffee. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and wished we had more time here to lay about on the hammocks and lounge by the pools. read more

I would not stay here again, that said the rooms where the cleanest guest rooms I have ever stayed in. The pool was not as clean. The pool is small and hardly any deep end. There is not hot tub that we could find. They had lots of kayaks for you use and a grill e but there where soooo many large groups of people from Cuba hogging the grill and playing loud music it was hard to enjoy the property. The same with the pool, they took over the pool and even put an large umbrella in the water. Restaurant are far away. We tried it but will not be going back. read more

I have stayed here 4+ nights every year since 2014. I will never recommend anyone here or stay here again thanks to the level of service provided by the manager Yesenia. This was the worst hospitality and not what I expected. I was charged a fee and then after a partial refund was offered she explained it was to teach me a lesson. It was very spacious, relatively clean with a very comfortable King bed. Two small flat screen tv's, one in the living room and one in the bedroom with cable. But limetree advertised beachfront and we get here and the beach is 200 hundred yards away and across the main road! Ridiculous. We even called ahead to confirm. I truly enjoyed myself here. Laid back, quiet beautiful location-literally a few feet from the Gulf. Blue water as far as you can see. Even though they were booked it felt secluded & had my pick of lounges & hammocks overlooking the water. The staff was great: from the front desk to the managers-excellent customer service. My room was very nice: modern & well decorated. Great view & private balcony with rocking chairs - I stayed in the new Hemingway bldg. There was a slight housekeeping issue. Immediately upon informing the front desk, they sent someone to my room & made things right. The next day I bumped into the new Housekeeping Mgr. He personally apologized & was very interested in my feedback & satisfaction. The entire staff was exceptional. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in mid December. The location of the resort is great; right on the water. Reception was very nice, but the housekeeping staff never smiled or acknowledged anyone. Housekeeping was actually the biggest annoyance all week as they came to clean our room at a different time each day. The first day it was around noon, but the second day they didn't come until 3 p.m. This makes it hard to plan your day, because you don't want to be in the way of housekeeping. They also never left soap, shampoo, or conditioner. (We got the little bottles in our room the first day, but that was it.) So make sure to bring your own soap, lotion, and shampoo/conditioner. They did not change our sheets/pillowcases daily, either. I know this because I got a little mascara on the sheets and pillow and it remained there all week long. Housekeeping also left their cleaning stuff in our room one day? The continental breakfast was just OK, and was also not consistent. One day they would have cereal, bagels, and toast; the next they'd be serving some danish, oranges and bananas, and toast. The continental breakfast is NOT hot. The only consistent things were coffee and orange juice. The property is nice and clean, even though renovations/construction were happening when we visited. I saw other reviews complain of noise from the construction- our room was thankfully not by the work going on! However, we could definitely hear the noise while lounging at the pool. Speaking of the pool, their website boasts of 2 heated pools. There is only one pool and one hot tub on the resort. The pool is definitely NOT heated. It was freezing cold and we were not able to swim all week. We saw no one swim the entire week, as the water was frigid. If they have some kind of sister property with shared amenities, we were never informed of it. They also had these big, round chairs at the pool but you couldn't sit in them because they had no cushions! Ugh. The resort does have complimentary bicycles, but if you want to ride one; get there early because half of the bicycles are old with assorted rusted parts. My boyfriend got stuck with a very squeaky and rusty bike, which was hard to sit on as the seat was half detatched. But it was funny to watch! They also have paddleboards and kayaks you can rent for free. This resort says it has a "white, sandy beach" which isn't quite right. The beach is rocky and filled with coral. It would be painful to walk into the ocean.... maybe even impossible. You'd need water shoes and good balance to get in. You can access the water from the dock, but it was filled with seaweed and other smelly ocean things, including dead fish. I would not have swam in it. Our room was beautiful. Very clean, super comfortable pillowtop bed, with a direct ocean view. Very nice shower! It was quite small, but still wonderful. One thing I REALLY hated was the bathroom mirror. It was pointed down and you can't move it. So you're looking at yourself from a weird angle. It was hard to do my makeup! Get normal mirrors!! The walls were thin in our room and we had loud neighbors the last 2 days. We did enjoy our stay at this resort, but there are obviously some things that could be fixed or taken into consideration with management. I'm still giving them 4 stars because our room and view were incredible and we had a lot of fun with the free kayaks and paddleboards. read more

Where can I start. This was probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a hotel. When we arrived to our room we realized the air did not work and it was pretty noisy since we were next to the street but not too bad. When I asked them if there was another room they told me all rooms were booked for that day. They told us they would send an a/c guy to fix it. That took about an hour before the guy got there another hour trying to fix it and turns out it was an "electrical" issue so they had to call an electrician. Prior to calling him they offered to move us to a room next to the canal (downgrade). We could move to a canal view or they would have the a/c fixed that same night if we were willing to wait. Considering the amazing view we had we decided to wait since they assured us it would be fixed. We went to dinner and when we came back the air was still not fixed! They closed the front office and did not bother to call to let us know the air was not fixed despite assuring it would be. I call the emergency number multiple times of course I was already aggravated considering the many lies I've already encountered with these people and when I ask who I can speak to about a reimbursement she hangs up on me mid sentence. EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional!! I wish I would've gotten her name but I'm pretty sure she was the owners wife (I could be wrong) she finally comes back to the property and changes us to a room two doors down from where we were. It was about the same room and with the same beautiful view (pretty funny after they had told us all rooms were already booked for that day). After that i did not bother to talk to anyone in the office because they did not once apologize or offer anything for all the inconvenience. I will never come back here again. I was very disappointed and was really looking forward to this place. Oh and the comp breakfast was outside with all the flies flying over it. I don't care that it was a basic breakfast (bagels, toast, cereal) but just the fact that it was not even covered really grossed me out. OH and there was a HUGE cockroach in the first room, I'm not surprised considering it was so hot and humid in that room, I am more than sure that the air in that room had not been functioning for a long time ! The view from our room was beautiful!! The second room we were in was overall pretty clean. The property (hammocks, dock, view) was very nice and relaxing. I did not use the free kayaks, or bicycles but that is a great bonus. read more

First time here very cool place unfortunately while we were here they are still fixing up the place from the hurricane. There are still a few things they can do to spruce up the place little things like sweep the walk ways ect. Still a great place I recommend it centrally located to restaurants or of you wanna head to marathon or key west. I would stay here again. They are working on adding a second pool also check out Sombero beach in Marathon. also Key Fisheries get that seared tuna BLT do it sun set and get the sunset shot the bar maid brings around. We were so excited to stay here pictures looked great etc.. when we showed up, looked as great in person! Was so excited to stay. When hubby came back to car after checking us in and not looking happy, told me that they have an off site building that we had to stay in??!! Ok?? What does that mean??! Well we had to get back on the highway and drive about 1/4 mile north then turned into a small parking lot in front of a bldg. that looked like condo's. No pool or hot tub, no restaurant, no resort facilities. Now we could use the hotel amenities but would have to walk or drive back. Very inconvenient, and our bldg. was across hwy from the water ,like the main hotel is on. Had no view except for a dirty narrow canal with people's houses. Now I have a 2 star instead of 1 because our room was very large and looked like was a converted apt. Maybe? Lots of storage a small kitchen nice bath and a sep. bedroom . And had coffee service in room. But wifi was not working. Had 2 separate tvs 1 in living room 1 in bedroom.Seemed clean. Nice large front deck with comfy hammock and small table and chairs. We booked through Expedia and Hubby went back on to look at description and the small writing. And then noticed there was something about separate accommodations. But unless you're Really Paying Attention would never know. I think the Hotel needs to have a big obvious disclaimer about possible staying off site. Away from amenities so us the consumer can make an informed decision before making reservations, therefore maybe being able to ask specifically to stay onsite to take advantage of all the amenities Feel very jipped!
