For starters, the owner of this store smokes cigarettes on a regular basis inside the premises. More times than not, until I finally decided to stop patronizing this business because of this, the place reeked of cigarette smoke. There were also times when I went to enter the store, it was not uncommon for about a half dozen or more men, hanging out with the owner, with the door propped wide open, and all of them smoking. I've already reported these violations to the CO Health Department. Also, be sure to check the expiration date of the beer sold at this liquor store. I discovered a 6 pack I bought recently was 1.5 years past the date on the package once I got home. When I went in the next time and saw it on the shelf I confronted the guy at the register about it and he got defensive and said expiration dates don't matter. I now patronize Zen Wine & Spirits located just a couple of blocks west on Lincoln from this location which has a lot more craft beer selection but minus the annoying and unlawful and albeit harmful second hand smoke and bonus, no expired beer products on the shelf! read more

Would like to give a higher review because the staff is usually friendly and helpful. Sadly, the owner is hit or miss. Don't go in during any sporting event of significance - it looks like a draft party with about 3 other dudes just hanging out and you will get the bare minimum of their attention if not outright annoyance that you are spending money in the business. It's a service industry not your man cave. Treat it as such and make it a welcoming place to shop versus feeling like you just walked into someone's game day Bro-Down. I live a few hundred feet from this place, but I can say with absolute certainty that I am never going to give any business to these guys. I had a bad day and was not paying attention when the cashier asked me for a receipt. I immediately apologized for that, and told him it wasn't necessary. He snatched the receipt before I could even sign it. The cashier then went into a fit of rage and started swearing. I find this customer service despicable. As a customer I expect a certain amount of respect. I am never channeling any of my funds to an establishment that cannot have even a modicum of respect towards its customers. I have always maintained civility with each and every staff member, including the cashier. I have made purchases here before and I will not buy anything from this store. read more

This place has what you want, you just may have to ask for it. They are really bad when the owner is in on stocking shelves. He just sits behind a computer. I had a card issue, and was trying to figure it out. He got mad, told me after this card he was going to have to charge me for the transaction. It's .50 for each time he swipes a card. When I have cash I pay cash. I spend a good amount of money in the store. He asked me if he should raise his prices to include a card fee. I explained it's not my fault you signed a awful deal with your CC company, but to express that on a customer is not ok. He kept forcing me out of the store to only bring me back in to continue the conversation. I gave him a 1.00 for the transactions he was out. The other staff is amazing and willing to work with you. The owner is a asshole, and doesn't understand it takes customers to make a business, the money will come. The dime and cents of it, is your game. The dollars and deposits comes with being with your customers. Sad. Don't see this place lasting longer. Also went to Zen right down the street. Everything went through fine. Done. I have often asked myself why I keep spending money at this business when there are so many places in our area that are better at...we'll...being a business. Because of its convenience I have continued to be a customer, but have walked out many times thinking "why are they so annoyed at me?" 9 times out of 10 the place is filled with their friends and 5 computers on game day. I walked in one night (10 minutes to close) and said "I was surprised you were still open." In response the guy working the counter said "I was until you walked in." Please offer your money to businesses that are...just better...than this one. I use Yelp only as a way to plug great experiences and have never written a negative review, until today. read more

This is a great place. The staff are very friendly. I live right next to them and see them outside the shop sometimes, they always wave and smile. They have treats for my dog when we visit. Their selection of beer, wines, whiskey is really great and well-priced. Highly recommend. read more

My fiancé and I love this place! I'm actually surprised to see the reviews referring to rudeness or neglect from the owner and employees. We are always greeted with friendliness and given any help we need. Several times they've helped me find what I'm looking for and have even taken the time to look in the back. I've been going to this place for a while. One of the times, I thought the owner (he works the register a lot) seemed irritated by having to get up and ring me up. I brushed it off. It did leave a bad taste in my mouth so I didn't go back for a while. When I finally did it was like he was kissing up; it seemed like he noticed I hadn't been there in a while and the last experience was less than friendly so it seemed like he was going a little out of his way to be nice. Well, unfortunately today's experience was much more pronounced. I walk in the door and in my usual chipper way, said "how's it going?" He was sitting there eating, and threw his fork down at the food (and I mean he really THREW it like a little kid having a fit), sighed very loudly, slowly got up and rang me up. He didn't say a word, and he had a nasty scowl on his face the whole time. As I signed the credit card slip he let out another long sigh. I told him "sorry for bugging you" and I left. I don't know, maybe he's all hurt 'cuz I'm not in there buying a $60 bottle of whiskey or something like that all the time, just going for the mid-shelf stuff. But I'm not an alcoholic and I'm not rich, either. Sorry pal, geeze. I do probably spend about $30 a week there, though. Well, not anymore. There's another place not that much further away and it looks like they'll be getting my business from now on. This is not a good way to treat your customers. It doesn't matter if I'm a small spender, you need to treat your customers with respect. I run a business too, and you gotta take the big sales along with the small potatoes. Especially a retail store. If I go to the grocery store to buy one item I don't get attitude from the clerk there, so what the heck is this guys deal? Not very smart. Shame, shame. read more
