Ambiance is cozy - I really loved it. The vibe is combo bar/open kitchen/cozy dining. It's not a big place and they recommend reservations. Parking was behind the place. And the service was really nice. It was a bit warm and one server told us to go ahead and open the window, but another came over and had me close it. So it was HOT. Maybe we were close to something hot? The pasta is made in house which I love. Food was creative. I do want to go back and try more. I had a chicken marsala, and it was classic. My husband had a risotto with scallops and it was good. The sauces are a bit heavy, but delicious. read more

We were in our way through Bridgeton to catch a show at the Deertrees Theater in Harrison and Yelp suggested this place. It was just me, my 9 year old daughter, and my mom. My daughter and I walked in to look at the menu and right away she said she wanted to eat here. I'm so glad she did! The staff are 10/10! They were SO welcoming. We got a table at the front that allowed for a bit of outdoor people watching but more importantly my daughter was thrilled to watch the chefs in the open sous kitchen prep pasta dishes and shuck oysters just feet from our table. Cocktails from the bar were creative and delicious. Homemade pasta dishes were amazing. Oysters were so yum. I can't wait to bring the whole family back soon! read more

Had dinner reservations last night 5/23/26 for 6:30 pm. We arrived at 6:25 to be told our table wasn't ready but would be soon and we are welcome to sit at the bar. First thing I noticed was the acoustics were terrible. It was very loud in the small square restaurant and I couldn't hear my wife over all the other patrons conversation. After about 15 minutes our table still wasn't ready so we decided to have dinner at the bar area which visible annoyed the hostess. After another 15 minutes passed we noticed no table became available which would have had us waiting 1/2 hour for a table. The bar tender was nice but was full of drama and talked to the patrons about the habits of his coworkers continuously. The food was good but given the other issues I would definitely not go back. read more

We went to dinner here for our anniversary vacation. Everything was great, cocktails, wine, appetizers, meal and dessert. Service was impeccable. It's small, but not in a bad way at all. The owner came over to check on us twice, we mentioned in conversation it was a special evening and he ran with it. We had the mussels, homemade pasta and salmon. Recently I went down to Boston for a celebration at one of the highest end steakhouses near the waterfront. In truth, Pondicherry's steak, meal overall was better. We love the Caesar salad, the mussels appetizer, the veal Marsala and the halibut. They have one custard dessert which is outstanding. Excellent food, great service! This was our first time at Pondicherry House which just opened a few months ago. Everything we had, from the beet salad to the haddock to the tomato ragu were all fantastic. Great flavors in every dish. The chef had owned Nora Belle's pizza which was in that same space. and the pizza was great. But the food at this new restaurant is the kind of quality you'd expect at a restaurant in Portland or Boston. Totally unpretentious and delicious.
